Wildcat's / Tyler's POV:
I was finishing up a recording session with Evan, David, Craig and Marcel when I heard an insistent knocking at my door. I grinned, knowing exactly who it was; since she always knocked at my door with the same tone and number of raps. I made no move to open the door, nor call out in an attempt to make her aware of my presence.
"Tyler? I'm coming in so you'd better be dressed you freaking perv!" I heard her call out in a mischievous tone; reminding me of the time she'd caught me walking out of the shower wearing only a towel. At the time it was embarrassing, but she managed to laugh it off and said she'd drop by later when I was more appropriately clothed. My apartment was pretty much her second home, which I didn't mind because she only lived a few doors away, and I enjoyed spending time with her when I wasn't recording.
"I'm dressed – I promise!" I called out, smirking to myself as I closed the tabs on my browser. I heard the door open and then close, footsteps padding around in the kitchen for minute before approaching my office. I turned in time to pop her head around my door and see me throw her a welcoming smile before turning back to my screen, editing a video that was due to go up tomorrow. She walked over to me and stared at my screen for a few seconds, then broke the silence when she pulled out a white envelope from behind her back. She handed it to me and turned on her heel to exit the room, pausing when I questioned the letter.
"I don't know what it is, but it got delivered to my apartment again." She replied, shrugging her shoulders and giving me an 'I didn't open it, I'm not that nosy' look. I rubbed my temples and sighed dramatically.
"Why can't they just deliver my mail to my address? It's not that difficult, surely."
"Maybe they just don't educate postmen on how to read door numbers anymore."
"Probably." There was a slightly awkward pause and I noticed that she seemed a little different than usual, shuffling her feet and appearing rather tense. She noticed me staring quizzically at her and quirked an eyebrow questioningly.
"What?"
"You seem stressed." I said bluntly, rising to my feet and walking past her on the way to my kitchen, noticing the white plastic bag on the side which seemed to hold a few items from the local store; which every time she visited she'd always bring me back some food and/or drinks. She followed me lazily, sliding across the laminate flooring.
"Yeah... I'm just tired really. Finding it hard to sleep with the new baby next door."
"You can always sleep here if you want to, you know." I mumbled without thinking, then realised what I said sounded like an invitation to do something else. I met her gaze and she smiled thankfully, obviously not thinking much of it.
"Thanks Ty, I appreciate it but I bother you enough already."
"You don't bother me." I said truthfully, grabbing two cups and filling up the kettle with water; flicking it on and turning to face her again. I grinned jokingly, saying: "It's nice to have someone from the outside influence me too."
"That's true, considering you don't really know what the outside is like anymore." She joked back, her eyes lighting up as she grinned. I felt my stomach flip – her smile was the most beautiful thing I'd ever seen, the way her whole face lifted when she was happy made me feel joyous that she was happy, and that I was there to smile with her.
"That's only because you bring me all the things I need to survive, so I don't need to go out anymore." I gestured to the plastic bag still resting on the side. Her face took on a mischievous expression and she locked eyes with me, holding my gaze with a devilish smirk.
"I guess you couldn't live without me then, huh?"
"No." I said, breaking our eye contact because I felt like my heart was going to burst out of my chest. I realised the kettle had boiled and I busied myself with making a cup of coffee, but was interrupted before I poured water in the second cup.
"Not one for me thanks, I can't stay." She said, sounding a little guilty as she excused herself.
"Huh?" I queried, feeling a little disappointed that she wasn't staying; the only thing I had to occupy myself was editing my videos, and I wasn't really in the mood for that right now. I was too distracted.
"Yeah, I've got a lot of coursework I need to finish for my assignment." She sighed dejectedly, but then brightened up again and started walking towards the door, pausing and giving me one last glance. "Thanks though – you really cheered me up today."
"That's what I'm here for!" I chuckled, suddenly feeling my spirits lift. One thought struck me suddenly as I saw her hand reach for the handle – I had a present for her that I'd wanted to give her for awhile now, but I'd always been too scared to go through with it. "Wait! I have something for you! Don't. Move."
"Tyler-?" I heard her reply but I was already heading back to my office, grabbing the wrapped gift from under my desk and running back with it. I handed it to her without making eye contact, afraid she would notice me going red under the awkwardness I felt.
"H-here." She took it from my hands and cocked her head cutely, eyeing the present with suspicion. I smiled reassuringly. "It's not a dead bird or anything – I'm not that twisted."
"You never know!" She laughed and began tearing the wrapping off the box, her eyes widening when she saw a box of assorted chocolates with a small note taped to the front. Without a word she read it and then broke into a series of overjoyed giggling – leaping forwards and enveloping me in a warm hug.
"Is that a yes?" I grinned, feeling happier than I'd done in a long time.
"Of course it's a yes you big doof!" She laughed, hugging me tighter and laughing into my chest. The note had fallen to the ground and written on it were the words:
'Will you be my beautiful girlfriend?'
