A single tear fell from the little girl's cheek as she glared at Kale with anger and helplessness.
Desperation was seeping into her as she held it tighter.
Luca was shaking.
Luca was shaking when the doors opened and she saw her brothers, looking at her with eyes wide, guns ready and eyes filled with nothing but bloodlust. There was nothing soft or comforting in their eyes. Nothing that could stop her from shaking. She was shaking uncontrollably and she doesn't know if it was from anger or despair.
She could see their reaction when they saw them. First was relief, next was concern and last was anger. It was the same fury that she's feeling. That she's desperately feeling.
It was uncontrollable. She couldn't stop it and she wouldn't.
She glared dangerously at Kale.
The gun never left her hands. She stood in front of Pierre with confidence despite the fear bubbling inside of her, protecting him by facing a man who planned so much for her, for the worse.
She was shaking because she knew that it was wrong. She was shaking because she was scared, too scared to feel relived, to look away, too scared to put it down, to put her guard down. The man behind Luca was also pointing a gun at her. One bullet will make her see her mother.
One pull and it'll be over.
The man behind her's good with guns. She could sense it, it was burning through her skin as it was pointed at her. She could sense the bloodlust in Kale.
Oh, how he's pointing his gun on her head with a smile plastered on his face. A dangerous smile, a dangerous gun, a dangerous game.
And she's playing it.
She was shaking for Pierre.
She was too scared to lose him. Pierre's been with her ever since she was born. He's family and losing him means losing a brother.
And she was too scared to lose somebody she loved. What would her brothers think? What would they think, seeing their little girl standing up to a villain in one of her story books. Only this villain was a devil.
She was too scared, too young to hold the gun.
Luca was only six and she's too young, too innocent to pull the trigger but that's what everybody thinks.
Luca had planned it.
From the very beginning, she hid the gun well.
And the moment she took the remote from Kale, she knew that it was her chance to unshackle their chains and take the chances.
Play the game.
Let's face it.
Nobody would give a single thought on Luca and a hidden gun. Everybody knew that she was well loved and protected. An angel, too innocent to hold a gun that could kill.
But in front of Kale was not an angel. Her brothers could see it, despite all the shaking, there was something in her glare. Determination, anger, fury, sadness—Every emotion she felt as she was tied up was all placed in that gun.
She will pull the trigger.
She won't hesitate.
Gabriele was sweating, wishing that she wouldn't hold the damn gun. It was too much for her. She can't do it. If it was up to him, he wouldn't let her do it. Obviously. They couldn't move. He knew that. One wrong move and she's dead.
Kale's got a gun on her head and she's got a gun on him. It was too close, too dangerous to do it.
To save her.
And their little girl's right in front of them and they couldn't do anything to save her.
And that feels pathetic.
"Honey..." Kale smiled devilishly at her when he saw how her shoulders were shaking. "You can't hold that toy. You don't know how to play the game."
Luca held the gun tighter. "I'm not playing games with you..."
Try me.
It really was a game and everyone was dead silent.
Nobody knows when somebody will pull the trigger.
Enzo clenched his jaw as he looked at Luca. She was sweating, her eyes were focused, no tears were in her eyes and as much as he hates it, he can't move freely. Two guns against one was unfair. He doesn't want her holding the gun, he doesn't want her near that man, he doesn't want her to torture herself with the burden, he doesn't want her hands to be tainted.
He wants her home.
With them.
Where it's safe.
Nobody was firing yet. They're obviously reading each other, trying to see if they're playing with the trigger.
Time seemed slower, almost as if it stopped.
As Luca stood there, scared out of her life, Pierre used all of his energy to knock off the guy behind her, tackling him to the ground, hastily removing the gun out of his hand.
"Fire the fucking gun, sweetheart and I'll fire your fucking brains out!" Kale shouted and everybody could see the fire in his eyes, the seriousness and they knew that it was because he was afraid that Luca will kill him. Kale could see it. He could see that there were no hesitations. "Try it and I'll take you with me! I'll bring you to your dead bitch!"
And Luca's posture straightened when she heard that. Suddenly, there was something more in her eyes, the same fire that Kale saw in all of her brothers.
And he felt it.
He fucking felt it.
He felt defeated because that look— That fire?
It was the same as her family.
Those merciless sons of bitches that nobody could defeat.
All she wanted was to be brave but what they did to Pierre, what Kale did to her? It was a nightmare. It was more than a nightmare. It was hell. It was traumatizing.
He needs to pay.
He needs to fucking pay.
And finally, she pulled the trigger.
The sound of the gun echoed in the four corners of the dreary room. The waves of emotion made her shaky, it made her almost faint from the horror of what she just did.
She didn't gave him the satisfaction of a fast death. She shot him at the stomach and Gabriele reacted fast by shooting his wrist. Not enough to kill him but enough to make him shout in pain and drop his gun.
They're making him pay for his disgusting actions.
Because, oh fuck, they're going to fucking cut his dick, burn it and fucking feed it too him. Make him choke on it.
What he did, what he did to both of them, they won't let Kale die.
Not yet.
They'll play with him. Like a toy.
Luca gave a shaky exhale, her whole body felt heavy as she brought down the gun slowly.
Luca suddenly feels dead tired.
Enzo slowly walked towards their little sister, almost too afraid that she'll whimper and move away from him. Luca looked at him, with tears forming in her eyes, almost too scared to move, too scared that he'll scold her for what she just did.
Shaking.
She was so, so very cold. The room was freezing and lonely. It was too grey and dark.
Enzo kneeled down, like he always does, and opened his arms. He opened his arms as if to say I'm sorry for leaving you alone, I'm so sorry for being late, I'm so sorry for letting him do that to you.
I'm so sorry that you had to do that, Luca.
Luca just stared at him, reading him, trying to comprehend what he just did, of what she did before stumbling towards her brother.
And Luca just cried when she ran towards his embrace, missing the warmth of her brother, the comfort he gives.
Gabriele took care of Kale, he kicked the gun away from him and Sydney took care of Pierre.
Luca saw how they were watching her like a hawk, like they're too afraid that they'll lose her. She could see how angry they were at themselves but she couldn't help them because the little girl was wailing.
She was too scared, too tired to move away from Enzo, to say anything.
Luca didn't know that she was wailing in pain. The little girl was crying on the top of her lungs as she held onto Enzo like her life depended on it.
And maybe her life did depend on it.
The adrenaline was slowly going out if her system and Luca felt tired. She felt the fear, the shakiness, the numbness of her body, the burning feeling of Kale's ghostly touches.
She could feel everything....
And she wailed louder.
Kay...?
