Chapter 3

Hannah's pov

We enter the giant house and are greeted by a peppy girl named Uriella.

"Hi! You you must be the new student Hannah! I'm Uriella but you can call me Ella. I'm so happy to finally meet you!" She exclaims in one long breath. "I'm assuming this is your father?"

"Yes. I'm Connor." Dad smiles shaking her hand.

"It's a pleasure to meet you! I'm going to be giving y'all a tour of the campus but first, Mr. Connor I'm supposed to take you to the administrative office to fill out some paper work for your daughter." Ella says turning to lead us towards wherever the administrative office is.

Several students watch us as we walk through the hall with the chatty blonde. I blush as I make eye contact with a muscular boy who is standing in the hall. I focus my attention on watching Ella instead.

She's very tall with her high heels on. I'm guessing she's around five foot seven with out them and five-eleven with them. She has on a form fitting purple cotton dress and a black blazer. Her blonde hair is straight and full of layers.

"Here it is!" Ella says leading us through a doorway. An elderly lady sits at the desk.

"Thank you Ella dear." She smiles kindly. "You must be Hannah Hopkins and this young man is your father?" She asks.

"Yes ma'am." I reply quietly.

"Wonderful. I'm Janessa Roth." She introduces herself. "Mr. Hopkins I need you to fill out a bit of paper work for me. Ella, why don't you take Hannah to the dinning room for breakfast?"

"Okay!" Ella grabs my arm and leads me from the room.

"Umm. I already ate." I say wanting to go back to the office with dad.

"That's fine!" Ella says. "I can introduce you to some students here. Plus I haven't eaten yet. You don't mind do you?" Ella says stopping in the hall.

She's too nice for me to refuse. "Not at all." I say forcing a small smile.

"Great." She sighs in relief. "Today is donut day." She tells me. "Feel free to get some of you want."

We enter the dinning room and it's filled with students and teachers sitting at long rectangular tables. Everyone turns to look at us when we enter and talk slowly dies down. Everyone stares at me. The new girl disrupting their usual routine.

"Donuts are this way." Ella says not seeming to notice all of the eyes fixed on us. Her focus is fully on the donuts sitting piled up on a table in front of us. My mouth waters at the sight and I can't help but grab a perfect glazed one.

"Oh my god." Ella exclaims. "I can't pick just one." She piles three on her plate and begins walking toward a table in the back. I follow since I don't know what else to do.

She stops at a table with two boys and two girls.

"Guys this is Hannah." She says. "Hannah these are my brothers Uriah and Usher and my cousins Lara and Tiffany."

"Hi." I greet them shyly.

Everyone responds with their own greetings then the cousins resume their previous conversations.

"So," Ella says. "I'm sure you have some questions about the school so feel free to ask me anything."

"Is Janessa Roth related to the Roth's that own the school?" I ask.

She nods. "Her and the dean, Samuel Roth, are the aunt and uncle of Toby Roth the founder."

I look around the room at the expensive tables and chandeliers and all of the finery.

"This most of cost a fortune to build." I say in awe.

"From what I know it was a group effort. They combined Toby's inheritances, the money from selling his aunt and uncles houses and some of Toby's wife Eliana's savings. It's amazing, isn't it?" Ella says.

I nod. "It's really beautiful."

"What's your art?" The girl, I believe Ella introduced as Tiffany asks.

"Dancing, singing, and piano." I list of my artistic talents.

"Dancing? What kind of dancing?" Usher asks.

"Mostly ballroom but I can also do contemporary and ballet. What about you? What's y'alls arts?" I ask.

"Theater." Tiffany says.

"Sculpting." Usher chimes in.

"Guitar." Uriah says at the same time Lara says, "violin.".

"I'm also in theater." Ella tells me. "I recently played Juliet in Romeo and Juliet."

"That's awesome." I say. It's really cool being surrounded by so many people in the arts.

"Anyways." Ella says finishing her last donut. "It's time to get back to the office and start your tour."

I nod. "It was nice meeting you all." I say to the others at the table. They respond likewise and Ella leads me off. As we pass by tables she introduces me to a few more people.

We exit the dinning room and walk back down the hall to the administrative office to pick up my dad for the tour.

"As you probably already know," Ella says beginning the tour after we pick up dad. "The school consist of sophomores, juniors, and seniors. This is the main building. It holds the coed dinning room, recreational room, and the offices. On the two upper rooms are the sixteen academic classrooms." She shows us around all of the rooms on the lower floor and a few class rooms on the second floor. "Pretty much all of the class rooms look the same so we won't be touring the third floor." She tells us.

Next we walk to the house on the left of the main hall. "This is the girls home. Like the main building the dorm houses consist of a kitchen, recreational room and dinning room. However, theses are not coed and only the people living in that building have access to them unless given permission from a teacher. The lower floor also holds a practice room for the arts and a library. A few of the single teachers live down here as well. On the two upper floors are eight dorms each with four girls in them."

Ella leads us up to the third floor. She pushes open a door at the end of the hall and leads us inside.

"Hannah, this will be your room. You'll share it with me and to other girls who are really nice."

The room has two sets of bunk beds, four dressers, and two desk set up so that each side of the room mirrors the other. Three of the dressers are covered with make up, hair stuff, and pictures. The fourth one is empty and I'm presuming it's mine. A book shelf is in the middle of the wall opposite the door. It's filled mostly with school books but other books are also on them. The desks sit on either side of the bookshelf. Both desks have cute blue lamps and blue spiny chairs.

A stack of boxes sits in the corner. My name is written on them in moms messy handwriting. I smile softly walking over and running my fingers over the letters.

"Hannah, time to continue them tour." Dad calls from the doorway. I turn to see Ella already waiting in the hall.

"Oh! I'm coming." I say hurrying to join them.

The rest of the tour consists of us visiting the different art buildings. They have a music hall, an art studio, a theater, and a dance studio. When the tour ended we went back to the office so I could get my student ID card. Dad left me here for the rest of the day to unpack and get used to my surroundings. Tonight would be my last night at granny and grandpas before I start school.

•••

I'm in the middle of organizing my drawers when a blonde girl in a leotard and tights comes in. She's pretty with her blonde hair up in a neat bun and her fair skin seems flawless. Her features radiate curiosity as she sees me standing in the room.

"Hi. I'm Hannah." I introduce myself.

Her eyes light up with recognition. "Oh! It's a pleasure to meet you. I'm Emma."

"Nice to meet you too." I smile.

"Need any help unpacking?" She offers.

"Umm." I look around at all the boxes on the floor. "You actually. If you don't mind."

"Of course not!" She chirps. She throws a sweatshirt on over her dance clothes and comes over to help.

We sort all my clothes from the boxes into stacks on my bottom bunk bed and then place them neatly in my drawers. Emma takes my books and adds them to the shelf while I set out pictures and makeup on my dresser. It only took us a few hours to unpack all of my stuff and get it ready for my new life.

Afterwards dad brought me back to granny and grandpas for a special dinner before school starts. All night my mind is consumed by thoughts of how the school will be. I guess theres only one way to find out: go to sleep. And so I do.
