Duel of the Droids

You didn't hear that Anakin lost R2 directly from him, but rather from a group chat with the command Vode that you had at some point been added to. When exactly this happened you weren't sure, but all you knew was that the Vode loved gossip as much as those in the Temple and you weren't going to pass that up.

Spilling Shig

NaturalBlonde: General Skywalker lost his astromech, if I hear anyone from any battalion making a joke about how sad he is I'm going to kill you

Werewolf: Why, tired of his moping?

NaturalBlonde: YES! I know he was attached to the droid but I feel like he's going to do something stupid to get it back

MrSecura: Yeah that sucks, but who changed my name?

Glory: It's not wrong.

(MrSecura has changed Glory's name to CodyWan)

CodyWan: I hate you so much

HereforSomeReason: I see I have some competition

CodyWan: Vod you know it's not like that

HereforSomeReason: Oh I know it's platonic but that doesn't mean I can't make fun of you for it

BodyofWater: Just logged on, didn't Skywalker destroy a droid control ship with his astromech or something?

NaturalBlonde: Where the kriff did you learn that?

BodyofWater: General Windu complains about him a lot, seems more like a frustrated ba'vodu but I'd never tell him that

HereforSomeReason: Just got a message from Anakin, got to go be the voice of reason

Anakin was nearly frantic on your comm call. You didn't understand his attachment to R2 due to not knowing the whole story, but that didn't mean you wouldn't support him. The little droid was a close friend to Anakin and had saved your kif more than once. Therefore, you did your best to calm him down and give him hope about the whole situation. He'd need an appointment with his Mind Healer once he got some leave. Whether or not he found R2, this situation was stressful enough to require it.

Though if he did get leave, you'd have to do your best to circumvent Chancellor Palpatine, especially if you weren't released at the same time. The war had distracted you from the politician for a while, but you hadn't forgotten how strange Anakin became after visiting him.

"General," Drifter stepped into his room, tucking a comm into his pocket. You faintly wondered if he was reading the chat, "You're needed to strategize before we reach the planet's surface."

"Right," you sighed and put your comm away.

Once again, your pondering concerning Chancellor Palpatine would have to wait.

Cloak of Darkness

It wasn't abnormal for Ahsoka to be sent out with a master other than Anakin. She often went with either you, Obi-Wan, or Master Plo, but every once in a while she went with someone else entirely. Her mission with Luminara was meant to be a simple prisoner escort, though you should have known that things wouldn't be simple considering they were escorting Nute Gunray.

"(Y/n)."

"Obi-Wan, Anakin," you greeted your husband and vaureh, pleasantly surprised at the call. It wasn't scheduled and none of you were engaged in any battles near each other so it likely wasn't a call for backup, "What do you need?"

"Ahsoka and Luminara faced off against Ventress," Obi-Wan stated bluntly, never one to bury the lead when it came to your family, "Both of them got out with minimal injuries, though I'm afraid Ahsoka has been quite shaken by this."

"Ventress and Gunray got away," Anakin growled.

"Take solace in the fact that Ahsoka got away too," you advised gently, "Where is she? Is she alright?"

"Her and Master Unduli reported to the Council immediately after getting their wounds treated and she's on a transport headed for The Resolute now. She should be here in a couple of hours," Anakin calmed when he said that, reassuring himself with his own words.

"Make sure to be gentle when she gets there, and listen if she wants to talk. Maybe ask the 501st if they'll let her join in on a Vode pile."

"What's a Vode pile?" Obi-Wan asked, interest piqued at the idea of learning more about his men.

"Mass cuddling," you explained shortly with a chuckle, "They give off strong feelings of safety and contentment when they do it. If she's feeling off then it'll help."

"I'll ask Rex about it," Anakin nodded, a determined look coming across his face, "Thanks, (Y/n)."

"Of course, Anakin. Do you know if Ahsoka has a comm on her?"

"She does," Obi-Wan confirmed, "Both Anakin and I talked to her after she got on the transport heading for The Resolute. I'll send you the code."

"I'll let you two go and give her a call then, I'd like to check in on her as well. Stay safe, I'll speak to you soon."

"Stay safe as well, darling."

"I'll talk to you later, (Y/n)."

Ending the call with the boys, you typed in the comm code Obi-Wan had sent over and sent out a call request. It took a few moments, but eventually, Ahsoka answered. She was obviously exhausted, her eyes remaining half-closed even if she perked up a bit when she saw you.

"Master (Y/n)," she greeted, managing a smile.

"Ahsoka, I heard about what happened and I wanted to check-in."

"I'm alright, Master. The medics patched me up."

"Mhm, well I'd like you to consider seeing a Mind Healer as well. Because of the war, they do sessions over secure comm channels now. I think it'd do you some good."

Ahsoka blinked, surprised, "I didn't consider it. I didn't think about that."

"Most people don't, Mind Healers aren't exactly popular among the Order, but they do wonderful work," you paused, "You did very well today, Ahsoka."

"Thank you, Master."

Sensing that she wanted to change the subject, you brought up Jar'Kai, knowing she'd been considering creating a second saber. Ahsoka visibly relaxed after the subject change, her eyes drooping lower and lower. Eventually, Ahsoka shut her eyes for a solid five seconds before jerking awake.

Laughing softly, you said, "Go to sleep, Soka'jes. When you wake up you'll be at The Resolute. I'll speak to you later, alright?"

"Okay, Master."

"Goodnight, ursbi."

The call ended. Sighing, you leaned back in your seat and ran a hand over your face. Then you realized what you'd said to Ahsoka. Looking down at the holocom on the desk, you couldn't bring yourself to panic over it. You'd known Ahsoka since she'd been brought to the Temple, had enjoyed lineage dinners with her, and taught her the basics of the saber. She was your ursbi, your child.

Running a hand over the comm, you repeated, "Goodnight, ursbi." Wishing her a restful sleep through the Force.

The Hidden Enemy

Of all the times to not be paired with Obi-Wan and Anakin on a mission, it had to be when a traitor had been discovered within the ranks. It was probably a good thing you weren't there. You weren't sure you could handle the stark realization that one of the men was willing to turn against their Vode, maybe it would have made too much sense. No matter how terrible this brother's actions were, he acted out because he wanted to be free from the slavery he'd been forced into. Because that's what they were- slaves, and the Order was their owners.

"General," Drifter stepped up behind you as you looked over the reports Anakin and Obi-Wan had sent over. You were currently in between missions, and therefore had time to obsess over the files, "(Y/n)," that caught your attention, and you looked up at your second, "You've been invited to a meeting between the Vode Kedin."

"The Vode Kedin?" You questioned, standing and following after Drifter.

"After we started command training there was a chain of command that started to form, one that the first gens and the later gens all followed. You already know that Kote is the Vode'alor. Rex is his second, Wolffe is third, I'm fourth, Fox is fifth, so on."

"What do you do?"

"Before you came in we did our best to protect the Vode, hide away the ones who were prime targets for reconditioning or decommissioning. We kept control among the different Vode classes- the Alphas, Nulls, all of them. Now we've kept track of our brothers, of the ones in more danger than the others. We try to keep in contact with the older Cu'Morut and handle cases like this one."

"Has this happened before?" You've never heard of internal issues like this.

Drifter scowled and glanced away, "A few have gotten close to switching but backed down after their commander talked to them. Others have made contact or officially betrayed the Republic and they've been... handled by us."

"Oh," you grimaced, unable to imagine how painful it must have been for the Command to have to execute their brothers for the sake of the Vode and Republic as a whole.

"Here," Drifter stepped into an unassuming conference room, a holocomm already set up on the table. He input a code and stepped back as it loaded up.

"Morutar, Vode," Cody greeted, popping up along with several other commanders and Captain Rex (you wondered how he became so high up when he wasn't a CC, although you knew him and Cody were incredibly close so that might have helped), "(Y/n), welcome to your first Vode Kedin meeting. Your presence has been requested due to your efforts to assist the Vode and your deeper understanding of the Republic social structures as a whole."

"It is an honor to be here," you bowed your head, deferring to Cody's authority without hesitation.

"We are here today to discuss the betrayal of one of our brothers. This is the first time that such an act has caused further harm to the Vode."

"As far as I'm concerned he's dar'Vode," Wolffe growled, his new mechanical eye a sight to see. You knew he'd lost it in a recent battle, but you hadn't yet had the chance to see the replacement, "He killed brothers for his own benefit."

"It's not that simple," Commander Fox spoke up. You'd only met him once, but you'd recognize the heavily painted armor anywhere, "Yes, he should still be declared as dar'Vode but it wasn't pure selfishness that drove him to this. He was desperate to escape."

"Because we're all slaves," Commander Gree stated bluntly.

"Yes, because he wanted to escape a life he had no choice in. It wasn't the correct time or way, but it was his choice. We need to figure out how to prevent these desperate actions in the future."

"There's no preventing it," you spoke for the first time, resigned, "Not with the way things currently are. I will continue to fight for the Vode, try to get you more rights and better supplies to give you some semblance of a normal life, but will it really change the reality of the situation? The Jedi Order is trapped as a servant of the Senate, and you are trapped as property of the Order. Without change in one there can't be change in the other."

Everyone fell silent, until Rex finally asked, "What can we do?"

"Survive," Drifter's gaze was intense and confident as he spoke, "We can win and survive the war. After we will demand rights, we will demand normal lives. We will free the Jedi Order and free ourselves."

"You're speaking of treason," Fox hissed. Because he worked so closely with the Chancellor, it must have upset him more than it did the others.

"Not if we do it correctly," you cut in, deep in thought, "I'll have to do some research, and speak at length with the Council, but Drifter's right. The Senate can't do anything to any of you without the Order's approval, if we can separate the Order from the Senate then it'd be no problem freeing all of you from your servitude. Gaining rights might be an issue, but freedom wouldn't be."

Glancing up, you met Cody's eyes. There was a fire there, and when you looked at the others there was fire there too. Turning to your own Commander, the Force whispered mandokarla. These men were warriors, protectors, and they were family.

"Let's start planning, then."

Blue Shadow Virus

Anakin was the one who messaged you about the Blue Shadow Virus, panicked about Blue Shadow Virus and how it would affect Padmé, Rex, and Ahsoka because they were trapped inside the lab. There wasn't much more you could do other than support him from the sidelines and try to give him some hope about the situation.

Relief flooded through you when you heard that the majority of those that got trapped in the lab were alright and in recovery. The Skywalker-Kenobi luck had come into play once again and had saved several lives.

And if you were on Coruscant the same time Ahsoka was, and you got to mother-hen her throughout her recovery? Well, that was just an added bonus.

Holocron Heist

"Sending just two people, a Knight and a Padawan pair no less, after one of the most dangerous bounty hunters in the galaxy is perhaps one of the worst decisions this Council could have come to!"

"Watch your tone, Master Pavond," Master Rancisis warned.

Sucking in a deep breath, you closed your eyes for a moment to calm yourself and center your emotions.

"I apologize. I simply believe that a mission of such importance should have received more support."

"Unfortunately, no one else was available to go after the Holocron."

"And we couldn't have pulled anyone from the field for a short time? Since when has this war become more important than Order business? Than the Force-sensitive children that we have sworn to nurture and protect?"

The Masters of the High Council remained silent, even the most strict seemed thoroughly chastised. Unsatisfied but content with having said everything you wanted to, you bowed deeply.

"I must depart for a Reconciliation Council meeting. I hope I have left you all with something to think about."

Ending the comm call, you sighed loudly and ran a hand over your face. Drifter appeared at your side with a cup of caff. You sent him a thankful smile and took a long drink.

"Everything will be alright," Drifter assured.

"This time, perhaps. But I fear for the Order."

The two of you sat in contemplative silence until it was time to join your next meeting.
