Kevin called out to her.

Dragging herself out of the car she plastered a smile on her face but her puffy eyes and the twitching corners of her lips weren't convincing.

Please don't notice. Please don't! She chanted in her head

"You don't have to force yourself. I won't pry"

And he already did.

"It is nothing." She tried to say normally but her voice stuck in her throat.

'We dated for two years. Come in, don't just stand there."

She made her way inside the house. It was as impressive as it looked outside. Simple but modern. She remembered each nook and corner of the house, the couch the decorations. She glanced around and noticed an areca palm planted in a pot.

He hadn't changed a bit.

She made herself at home and sat on the couch.

"So tell me when you feel like I'm always with you."

I know I should trust him but what if he tells others. No, I have known him for years. I should trust him. He wouldn't do that.

She wanted to tell someone that she is hurt, that she wants a hug.

Would he comfort me like he used to?

A slight smile danced on her lips when she thought back on how he used to comfort her. Their memories together flashed through her mind. The familiar feeling made her heartache better. She started to calm now, her heartbeat calmed down she felt like she could breathe again. She is in control of her emotions. But her heart still ached. Of course, a broken heart can't be amended in a day or two.

"I will. Can you let me stay here for tonight?"

"So it's about Danny. No wonder you look like hell. I can't even see your eyes anymore. Are you sure you can see?" he said jokingly

She tried to not laugh and appear serious, "I'm not in the mood for jokes Kevin"

She said this but it did make her feel better, talking to him. She felt warm inside her heart. She was grateful for his kindness and comfort.

"So it's something big" he muttered to himself.

"Anyways you can stay here as long as you wish, You had dinner?"

"No"

"Clean up yourself first then we can have dinner together"

mhmm...

She stood up from the couch. Suddenly remembering something she called out to Kevin. She didn't take anything with her. She just wanted to get away from that house quick. She wanted to be alone but deep inside she knew she wanted warmth and comfort

"Do you have clothes I could use?"

"There must be some of kate's clothes. Or do you want something new?"

"No her clothes are enough"

Kate was true about Danny.

Kate was his younger sister and her past best friend.

I should have believed her.

No point in thinking that now as she stopped herself.

I need to find a solution to this. I have to decide, decide whether to continue this relationship or not.

Hello? Are you insane? He cheated on you! Obviously, he is not your boyfriend anymore, duh! Her inner voice taunted her thoughts.

She made her way to the bathroom making sure it was locked. She shocks her hair loose and turned on the knob as water started streaming out of the showerhead darkening her hair and trickling down her back. The cool water calmed her. Her mind felt more refreshed and clear. The water gently washed away her tears. Her muffled cries echoed in the room. She felt like crying her heart out

Refreshed after the bath she looked at her reflection in the mirror that hung on the wall of the bathroom. She still looked weak, her eyes still puffy but she felt confidence rise inside her. She felt she could overcome this.

"I need to decide how to confront Danny"

She took a towel out from the shelf nearby. She changed to some of kate's pyjamas.she tilted her head sideways and pat her hair She looked childish it wasn't of her taste but she had no other choice. The red pyjamas highlighted her porcelain skin and her full lips

She sat on the bed.
