chapter 9- she meets him
The warm sun rays entered through the narrow slit between the curtains, falling on her face and lighting up the room. her eyes twitched as they slowly opened revealing her brown eyes. She stared at the familiar ceiling. Memories of his betrayal rushed into her head but now she was no longer feeling heavy in the heart. She felt angry. Her mind was filled with thoughts about revenge. She herself was surprised at how calm she is.
Is it because of Kevin
She turned her body and reached for the phone on the bedside table. She scrolled through the notifications and her fingers paused
When will you reach?.
So, he did not reach home. He stayed outside probably with her. Otherwise wouldn't he have seen my luggage? Or at least he would find my car was missing.
Where are you I have already reached? I didn't see you at home.
She hit the send button.
I had work.
Lies. She felt her rage rise each time he lied each time he sent messages that were nothing but empty words without any feelings behind them.
I can't wait to see you.
She purposefully sends it. She left her phone beside the bedside table and got up she stretched herself and got out of the bed. She stepped towards the curtain and opened them the warm sun rays fell on her face.
I'll confront him today
She made her resolve. She cleaned herself up. And got out of the room. She slowly opened Kevin's room to find him sleeping, she neared him and squat down to see his face. She poked him in the forehead. His eyebrows neared showing an annoyed expression. She continued to poke him. He yanked her arm. His eyes flew open.
"What are you doing?" he asked his deep sleepy voice clearly giving away his annoyance.
"Revenge for yesterday." she flashed a naughty grin she was just trying to behave playfully.
"For what?" he looked confused when she didn't answer.
"For poking fun at me while I was asleep'' She flashed a playful grin. He patted her head as he sat up yawning.
"You don't have to force yourself, everything is still intact just some new life problems."
"I'm not, she replied, "I feel better I won't say I'm fine. I can't forgive him maybe never. I'm angry, pissed off. I want him to go through the same."
"I know," he said, "you aren't thinking of revenge are you?"
She knew that revenge isn't the solution. She knew this very well. But she couldn't let go of this betrayal. Betrayal was something she could never forgive. If she had to choose she would rather choose to be the devil than be a saint. It was obvious shes wants to make him go through the same. He shouldn't have done this.
"Get up or you'll be late Mr barker," her voice extra sweet full of smiles but her eyes didn't smile.
She watched him as he got up.
"I'll be going then"
He glanced at the wall clock
"This early?" he asked
"Yeah, I have to return." It couldn't be delayed She had to sort out this problem and get on with her work.
"Are you coming to the office today?" Kevin asked
"Yes. I would reach as soon as I can."
She reached the door when she thought of something and turned back, yelling "Wait" he was standing near his closet when she ran back to him and hugged him. It had been years since she had hugged him this tight but it felt good.
"Thank you." She mumbled against his chest, his arms have come around her hugging her back. "For being there with me."
"Don't thank me, you are always invited." She let go smiling.
She made her way out of the house, got into her car and drove off
Has he reached?
She parked her Lexus in the porch and got inside the house, her eyes searching for Danny she crossed her arms over chest and leaned by the doorway seeing him smile as he stared at the phone.
What is he, a maiden in love?
Must be her.
Slight pain crept inside her heart. She didn't think she could manage to see him smile at another woman but guess she's wrong. She straightened her back and walked towards him putting on a sweet smile just like she used to when she was still in love.
She crept behind his back.
"Honey!". She put her arms around his shoulder. She had to admit she was a fool in love. She was truly blind in love.
He turned his head towards her. He hid his phone behind his back flashing a sweet smile at her.
She felt a pang in her heart but now she wasn't going to go back in her decision. He didn't deserve her anymore. She valued herself.
Call me a narcissist but I don't think he deserves me anymore
He placed the phone face down on the table and turned around to pull her by the waist towards him, him, glancing down resting his head on her nape.
"I missed you"
Her sweet smile turned into an evil grin.
"Honey, do you have something you are hiding from me?" She put on a pained expression
He retracted his hands from her waist and put them on her shoulder. His deep blue eyes gazed at hers.
"I never hide anything from you"
Then what were you doing with her? She wanted to ask him but retracted from doing so.
"Yeah, I know that honey." She lied.
"Miss, breakfast is ready". Stella informed her
"Then let's go" She gave him a charming smile.
"Yes let's go". He left his phone behind and called out to her "not hungry?"
"Oh, I'll come down in a second."
She stayed behind. She carefully took out his phone and scrolled through his contacts. Her hands paused.
What's the use of this
She placed it down carefully.
I shouldn't hope for anything. I saw it with my own eyes, didn't I?. There's no point in doubting myself no matter how much I wish for it to be not true.
Her stomach let out a growl.
I should really eat something.
She went to the dining hall and seated herself opposite to Danny.
"Are you going to work today?" He asked.
"Yeah. Can you pick me up?"
"I'll be late today. I have something to do" he answered
Does that have to do with her? Her hands turned clenched into a fist underneath the table. She restrained herself from yelling at him
But reality already sank in her. His lies did hurt but not as much as she thought it would.
