chapter 6- emotion, a mess

Her eyes fell on the photo by the bedside table. There wasn't a speck of dust neither on the frame nor on the glass. It was precious. Every day she chose to open her eyes to the photograph, from the smiles on their faces to their gaze filled with love for the other. Everyday She was reminded of how loved she was.

Hah! foolish!

She leaned towards the photograph and reached for it. She held it in her hands. Looking at the photo now, it felt like her heart felt like it was pricked with thousands of needles.

It's all your fault a voice deep inside her head screamed at her.

No, it isn't. I loved him. Maybe I still do. I can't just forget him in just a few hours.

if only you were better.

No, it is not my fault.

She defended herself. The inner voice grew stronger and stronger. She knew she was not at fault but deep inside she thought of ways she could have been better, ways she could have treated him better. She couldn't defend herself anymore. It took a toll on her she couldn't bear to stay anymore in the house let alone be in the room, everything about this house reminded her of his betrayal.

'Learn to control your anger' her mother's words, the ones she kept close to her heart, the one she always kept in her mind. She could no longer follow it. Getting angry isn't a solution, she knew it but she couldn't follow reason

I shouldn't get angry, control it control it, Abbie.

She gave the photo a parting glance before placing it down, but her hand was still clutching it. She felt the rage well up inside her. She threw the photo against the wall. BANG! The Frame shattered into thousands of pieces just like her heart.

NO! YOU NEED TO CALM DOWN!

She stared at the shattered glass her eyes cold without a trace of warmth in them. Her hand behind her head as she looked down on them.

I should clean it up.

She bent down and picked up the shards of glasses. Some of them jabbed through her skin causing blood to ooze out, but she did not mind them either. It felt good to feel physical pain, reminded her she was still alive.

Her emotions were a mess she knew she needed to calm down she got out of the room and shut the door behind her. she glanced around. Relief washed over her when she saw no one near the room. She didn't want anyone to find out about this.

She rushed through the hallway, her eyes searching everywhere.

She saw Stella, the one she was searching for.

"Stella I need your help. Instruct the servants to not mutter a word about me returning". Though it was difficult, she tried to smile. "I want to surprise him." She was sure to hide her bleeding hand behind her back.

Yes, it would be a surprise indeed.

Stella laughed at her madam's words clueless as to what was going on and nudged her on the shoulders.

She got into her car and drove off from the car porch. She didn't have any place to go. Even her home felt like suffocating. She didn't want more damage. She found it hard to control her anger. She felt better now. A bitter laugh escaped her lips. Tears welled up in her eyes her laughter turned into muffled sobs.

Why did it all happen? Why?

How long has it been?

Was it really a week, or maybe way before.

Will he confess if I confront him.

Her thoughts began to haunt her.

If only you were better.

If only you were lovable.

She drove faster than before as if to escape from her inner voices.

He didn't love you.

No, he loves me. Maybe it was something on impulse. She tried her best to justify his actions.

His love was fake.

No...

You were a fool all along.

No that can't be right. It can't be right.

Calm down. It's just your thoughts. It's not your fault. You have to remain strong, strong for yourself and your parents. Only he has left you.

But he was your world.

She was devastated by his betrayal. She didn't pay any attention to neither the road nor to where she was heading to. She halted the car.

The place was familiar perhaps a little too familiar.

That huge mansion. She knew who it belonged to She looked around to see if he was there. She breathed a sigh of relief.

Just as she was about to drive off.

"ABBIE!" Someone called out to her.

Shit!

She slammed her head against the steering wheel.

I don't want to see him. He will see right through me! I am in no place to control my emotions!
