Part 13

Yongguk POV

Sunhwa and I found an empty study and waited for Himchan and Miyoung to arrive.

“I can't believe he would do something like that!” I sighed in frustration. “Himchan is out of his mind!”

“Don't you think we should listen to their side of the story?” Sunhwa tried to speak reason, but I didn't want to hear it.

“Now that we are a part of this family, I thought it would be best to understand everything.”

“But I explained the rules to you when she first brought you to the house.”

“Yeah, I know” I sighed. “But I had a feeling there was more to it than that, so I went to the leader of your gang, Hyoseong, and asked her to explain things in more detail for me.”

“So she told you everything?”

I looked Sunhwa in the eyes and said “Yes, she told me everything.”

A few moments later, Himchan and Miyoung walked into the study, hands clasped tightly together. I sighed as I watched them. “We need to talk about this Himchan.”

“What do we need to discuss?” Himchan said defiantly.

“Your relationship with Miyoung.”

“Yongguk is right, we need to discuss this” Sunhwa spoke up.

“No we don't!” Miyoung yelled at us.

“Miyoung, the Annual Ball is next week...”

“I know” Miyoung interrupted Sunhwa. “What of it?”

“You are supposed to announce your break up at the Ball” Sunhwa insisted.

Himchan moved behind Miyoung and wrapped his arms around her waist. She smiled and giggled a little at the show of affection. I had never seen Himchan so genuinely happy. It made me question if we were doing the right thing.

“We are not breaking up” Miyoung stated. “We are going to formally announce our relationship at the Ball.”

“Miyoung! You can't do that!” Sunhwa yelled at her. I was actually quite surprised by her actions considering the fact that she was so excited to see them together.

“I'm sorry Unnie, but I can and I will” Miyoung spoke with authority.

“Agassi!”

“This isn't up for discussion Unnie!”

Miyoung turned to leave, but Sunhwa asked “Does he know what you are risking?!”

I could see the look of confusion on Himchan's face. She hasn't told him yet. “Stay out of it, Unnie” Miyoung said and I could swear it sounded like a threat. Then Miyoung turned and left.

Himchan looked at me and I could tell he wanted to ask what Sunhwa was talking about, but I felt we shouldn't get involved any further. “You should go Himchan” I said simply.

“But Hyung...”

“I know what you want to ask, but you should talk to Miyoung about it.” I sighed a little before saying “Just go.”

Himchan turned and left, and then Sunhwa looked up at me and asked “Do you think that was the right thing to do? You could have told him.”

“You're right. I could have told him” I paused before looking at her “but it's not my place to interfere. This is something he needs to hear from her.”

“What happens if they refuse to break up even after she tells him? What do we do?”

“We support them” I smiled. “They are our family after all.”

Sunhwa nodded and smiled “You're right. They are our family.”

Miyoung POV

I can't believe Unnie told him about everything! I stormed out of the room and headed to the training ground to calm myself.

“Miyoung!” Himchan called as he ran after me. “Wait up!”

I stopped in my tracks and turned to face him as he continued to run after me. Unnie was right. I should tell him everything.

Himchan ran up to me and pulled me into a hug. “Why did you run off like that?”

“I'm sorry Himchan, I was just upset.”

“I know that silly” he chuckled as he tightened his arms around me. “I'm a little upset too. I can't believe Yongguk would be against this! He was the one telling me I had to pretend to be engaged to you in the first place, now he is saying I have to break up with you. I wish he would just make up his mind.”

I slowly took a step back from him and said “What if there was a reason behind his actions?”

Himchan looked at me confused. “Does this have anything to do with why they wanted us to break up?” I nodded. “If you know the reason, then tell me because I have no clue as to what everyone is talking about.”

I took a deep breath and let out a heavy sigh. “Where should I begin?”

“How about you start with why they want up to break up.”

“That's a bit complicated” I nervously laughed.

“Then uncomplicated it. Tell me what they both seem to know.”

“There are a number of reasons they want you to break up with me, but they are all interconnected. I think it would be best if I start from the beginning.”

Himchan took a seat and I paced a little as I thought of where I should start. Once I had organized my thoughts, I sat next to him and began explaining everything.

“You already understand the basics of being a part of a family.”

“Yeah” Himchan smiled. “Sunhwa gave us the rundown of the rules when you told her we were a part of the family now.”

“Those were only the rules of our family.”

“What do you mean?”

“There is a lot more to being a part of a family than what was said that night.”

“Then why didn't she explain that to us then? Why am I only learning about this now?”

“When someone joins a family, they are told the rules that family follows first. Then they are put into training. During their training, they learn the dos and don'ts of gang family life. As well as the hierarchy that exists within the family. They also begin to understand what actions are acceptable and what should be avoided.”

I took a deep breath before continuing. “My father was determined to form a gang family that would be able to stand alongside some of the biggest families out there. For that reason, he had me training in martial arts since I was old enough to walk. He wanted me to be strong enough to hold my own against anyone who tried to fight me.” I sighed a little. “When he started this family four years ago, our only gang was Untouchable. They were a small two member gang with not much of a reputation. My father saw their potential and decided they would be the first gang to join the TS family.”

“They sound like an awesome gang!”

“They are” I smiled. “But they weren't going to be enough if we wanted to stand on the same ground as the big families.”

“Oh, I see.” Himchan thought for a moment and then asked “How did the Secret gang become a part of the family?”

“That was actually my doing” I giggled. “I had been attending school at the time and the girls were in my class. I could tell that they had formed a gang, but didn't know what they should do. They had debated about joining a family, but they couldn't decide which one to join because they had fought against some of the other families' gang members in the past. One afternoon, I happened to overhear the girls talking about their gang and what they should do next and kind of laughed a little too loud."
