Fear shot through him like fire as he looked up at the sky. A huge winged silhouette circled in the mid-morning sky. It's a SkyCat! It's gonna eat me! He jumped up and ran back into his cave home, gray-blue fur fluffed up in tufts. The young tom saw his mother folding leaves on the other side of the den, humming to herself.
"Mom! Mom! There's a SkyCat that's gonna come down and eat me!" His mother blinked in surprise then chuckled.
"Oh Muzak! That SkyCat will not eat you!" Her soothing voice soothed Muzak's nerves, her voice as sweet and smooth as honey.
Heavy footsteps interrupted them. Muzak turned and craned his head upwards to the huge tom's face. He was a large gray tabby with broad shoulders and giant wings folded at his sides. The tom suddenly opened his wings with a crack as he yawned, the light showing through the thin, red membrane.
His mother ran forward and gave the huge tom a nuzzle, "Hey! I didn't know you could visit us anymore after the new law?"
The large SkyCat sighed, "I had to sneak out-" He cut off as his amber gaze found Muzak. "Why hello there, little guy!" He knelt down to Muzak's height, "Who are you?"
"M-Muzak. Are you gonna eat me?" Muzak shuddered. The tom gave a hearty laugh.
"Of course not! Why would I?"
"Because you're a SkyCat! My friend told me that SkyCats swoop down and eat disobeying kits! That eat them in one bite!" Muzak showed his point by curling his lip, showing small, pearly white teeth. The SkyCat laughed again, "Well when I was you're age, I was told stories of how LandCats would swim to the Spires and are kits if they stayed up past moon-high!"
Muzak was surprised at the tom's humor and personality. "So what's you're name?"
"Crimson. I'm your mother's cousin."
Muzak looked at his mother in shock. We have SkyCat relatives!? She nodded, "We are of royal blood, we even have connections to SerpentCats!" Wow! Muzak whispered under his breath.
Freya trend to her son, "Muzak, why don't you go out and meet some of the other MysteryClass kits?" Muzak nodded and scampered out of the cave, and out into the sunlight.
