Thirty Two

Jungkook slammed the door open, uncaring of the audible gasp he heard from the nurse who has just finished checking up his father's health.

Jungho wasn't expecting to see his son came bursting through the door. A smile left his lips, only to see Jungkook's face full of anger and wrath.

"Leave!" Jungkook looked at the nurse who immediately rushed out of the room from fear.

"Mr. Jeon Jungkook, it's not right to come barging in-" Mr. So wasn't able to finish his sentence when Jungkook's voice came booming once more.

"I SAID LEAVE!" He glared at the older man who was astounded by his rage.

"Jungkook!" Jungho tried to warn his son, but Mr. So was quick to stand.

"It's okay, sir. I'll take my leave." Mr. So headed for the door.

He glanced at the two once more before closing the door behind.

"Jungkook. You shouldn't have acted that way to Mr. So. He's still older than-"

"Tell me what the fuck this is!" Jungkook cuts him mid-sentence, throwing the picture on top of his bed.

With furrowed brows, Jungho darted his gaze on the object. He reached out for it, seeing the people on the picture.

"Is this why you're helping Taehyung? Why you fucking supported him through college and gave him a job?" The ravenette was fuming in anger.

Jungho looked at him with wide eyes. "Son, he-"

"Because he's the son of your mistress?!" Jungkook blurted out, feeling both pain and anger toward this man.

"How could you do this? Isn't my mother's death enough to make you stop?" Jungkook felt his heart clench.

"Don't you have conscience?" the ravenette felt a tear roll down his eyes.

"My mother died because of you and your woman. She died with all the pain you have caused her, and yet.." Jungkook huffed, unable to control his emotions.

Jungho looked down, feeling his chest tightening, seeing his son's rage toward him.

"And yet you still kept on looking after that woman and her child?" Jungkook couldn't contain the amount of anger he felt for this man.

The man whom he used to call father.

The man whom he used to look up to when he was growing up.

The same man who ruined their family.

"Why?" Jungkook uttered, breathless. He wiped away his tears as he looked at Jungho with disgust.

"Was he a replacement for his mother?" Jungkook spat with disgust.

"Does he satisfy your needs in exchange of the help you give him?" Jungkook saw Jungho looked at him with disbelief.

"Or maybe you have a schedule when you fuck both of them -"

A hard punch landed on Jungkook's face, making him stop from the impact.

"Jeon Jungkook!" Jungho bellowed, his chest rising and falling from anger.

Jungkook huffed as he slowly licked his lips, the pungent taste of blood welcomed him.

He could feel the pain creeping on his face but nothing can compare to the pain he's feeling in his heart.

He was hurt, not because of the punch he had gotten, but because for the first time in his life, his father landed his fist on him.

Jungkook glared at Jungho who now has a look of regret on his face from hitting his son.

"Jungkook, I'm sorry. I-"

"Save it. You just proved how worthless of a father you really are."

Jungkook turned around as he rushed to the door and leave. He had heard his father calling him but was deafened by the burning rage in his heart.

He went out of the hospital and headed to his car, speeding away from the place.

His mind drifted back to the times when he would see his mother cry. It took him a long time to know the reason behind her tears.

"Mom, what's wrong?" Jungkook went near Sunmi who was crying once again in the confinement of her room.

She looked at him and smiled as she dried her tears away.

"Hey, you're back." She uttered instead of answering Jungkook.

"Mom.. Is something wrong? Is it because of... Dad?" Jungkook asked.

Sunmi looked at her son for a long while before bursting to tears which confirmed Jungkook's hunch.

"Tell me mom. Did he hurt you?" Jungkook couldn't help but feel angry toward his father as he cradled Sunmi in his arms.

Sunmi sobbed as she confessed. "He wanted a divorce."

Jungkook stiffened, hearing her words. "What? Why?"

Sunmi didn't answer as she cried hard on his chest.

Jungkook couldn't stand seeing his mother suffering like this.

"I'm going to talk to dad -"

"No!" Sunmi vigorously shakes her head.

"Please, Jungkook. Keep this between us." She begged through her tears.

"But mom-"

"Please, son. If your father knew I told you about it, he might really end up divorcing me." Sunmi looked at her son's face with tears trickling down her sad eyes.

"I'll take care of it. For now, please pretend you don't know anything. I don't want to lose your father, Jungkook." Sunmi buried her face on her son's chest as she cried even more.

During those times, Jungkook held his silence. He pretended that everything is fine.

Until the day he learned the reason why his father wanted a divorce.

He had arrived home from school and wanted to show his father the photos he had taken from his photography class.

He rushed to his study, barging in without warning and saw a woman inside with his father.

Both of them turned to look at his direction, enabling him to see her face.

"Oh, Jungkook. You should have knocked, son." Jungho uttered, sliding what seemed to be an envelope to the woman who's standing in front of his desk.

"Sorry. I didn't know you have a visitor." Jungkook apologized, eyes looking at the envelope now in the woman's hand.

He saw her smile at his father before whispering a small 'thank you'.

His father shakes his head and whispered back, 'No, thank you.'

Jungkook couldn't help but stare as the woman turned to leave. He had seen her face clearly and when she turned to look at him, she smiled.

Jungkook noted how beautiful she was as he stared at her retreating back.

"What's the fuss, son?" Jungho asked, catching his attention.

Only then was the ravenette able to remember the reason why he's there.

"Oh yeah. Here." He rummaged through his things before showing his father the photographs he had taken.

After a bit of a talk, Jungkook went out of his father's study room, only to see his mother and the woman earlier standing in the front porch.

Curious, he went near but his mother was quick to see him.

"Leave!" Sunmi suddenly pushed the woman out. She closed the door behind as Jungkook went near her.

"What's going on, mom?" Jungkook asked but Sunmi just stormed her way into her room.

Alarmed, Jungkook followed, wanting to understand everything that's going on.

He went inside the room, grabbing his mother in the arm. As she turned around, Jungkook saw the tears in her eyes.

"You want to know why your father want a divorce, right?" Sunmi looked at him with sad eyes.

"That woman.. That woman is the reason." She cried out.

Jungkook stiffened as he stared at her.

"Your father has a mistress, Jungkook." Sunmi let herself fall on to her son's arms.

"He doesn't want me anymore because of that woman!" She was beyond hysterical which pained Jungkook.

"How long have you known?" Jungkook asked in a dangerous voice.

Sunmi looked at him for a long time. "It doesn't matter. I don't want to lose your father, Jungkook. I can't take it."

"So you just let him do this to you, mom?" Jungkook asked in disbelief as he clenched his fist.

"I won't let this go on." Jungkook turned away but Sunmi was quick to grab him.

"No!! Jungkook, no!" She begged, body falling on the floor as she clung to his leg.

"Please, don't tell him you know." She cried even more as she gripped him tight.

"As long as I don't sign the divorce papers, I can have him forever. Please... for my sake.. Just pretend that we're still a family."

"But mom! This -"

"Please, son... I'll die if he'll leave me."

These were the words that made him endure all the pain and pretend as if he didn't know anything.

Everyday, looking at his father's face as if nothing was wrong tortured him to the core, but for his mother's sake, he endured.

He kept the hatred in his heart until one day.. he lost the reason why he's still holding on.

It was the night when he was with his friends and received a call from his mother.

She was crying again.

Jungkook thought it was just like the usual, crying to him until she fell asleep.

However, it never occurred to him that it'll be the last time he'll hear her voice.

"Jungkook.. my son. Remember that I love you." Sunmi uttered in the other line.

Jungkook couldn't understand why he felt uneasy with her words. "Where are you, mom?" He asked, alarmed.

However, Sunmi didn't answer and instead she said with a trembling voice, "I love your father so much, but he just couldn't love me anymore. He wanted me out of his life... and I shall give him that." Sunmi sobbed which made Jungkook feel shivers run down his spine.

"Mom, what-"

He wasn't able to finish his words when he heard a loud crashing sound before the call ended.

Jungkook gripped on the steering wheel as tears blinded his eyes.

He couldn't forget the face of the woman who had ruined his family.

As long as the pain still lingers in his heart, nothing would make him forget.

He will never forget.
