Thirty Four

The blasting sound of the alarm erupted in his room, forcing him to stand out of his bed though he really haven't gotten the chance to sleep for the whole night.

He skipped breakfast, not really having an appetite as he felt shitty and wasted even before the day started. He took a quick shower, wanting to be sober and ready for the day.

The alcohol he had drunk last night didn't help ease his troubled mind and broken heart.

As Taehyung stared at himself in the mirror, he saw a man with lifeless eyes, far from his reflection few days before.

The days when he was showered by Jungkook's love.

He sighed, no more tears left in his eyes for him to cry. He gathered all his courage to move forward, forcing a smile on his lips as he stared at himself.

You can do this, Tae.

He made sure to look his best despite everything he's been feeling at the moment. He had picked a printed long sleeves, the first few buttons left unbuttoned, highlighting his sexy neck and collarbone.

He applied a bit of a makeup to cover the bags under his eyes and to bring life to his restless face, curled his hair a little to accentuate his lovely face, and sprayed his favorite perfume that he hadn't used for a while.

Makeup really did wonders to his face. It helped make him look like he hadn't cried the whole night.

Taehyung stared at his reflection for a long while, noticing that something was missing. He turned to look at his jewelry box, smiling sadly as he spotted the necklace Jungkook had given him.

He hadn't taken it off since the day the ravenette had given the necklace to him.

However last night, when he's drowning with his tears and self pity, he had made the decision to not wear it, not until Jungkook loves him once again.

He's afraid that the ravenette would be enraged to see him wearing it or worst, he'd ask to take it back because it no longer served its purpose.

Taehyung couldn't handle that. It's the only reminder that Jungkook had loved him. He couldn't afford to lose it.

With a sigh, Taehyung picked his emerald necklace, letting it adorn around his neck to complete his look.

Once satisfied, he forced a smile as he made his way out of his house.

Out of instinct, he took his car key but was immediately halted when realization hits him.

Taehyung sighed, placing it back on top of the drawer as he murmured to himself.

"A cab would do..."

--------

It took him a lot longer to arrive in the company with a cab, but Taehyung doesn't really have a choice at the moment.

He's not going to use the car Mr. Jeon had given him, knowing fully well the reason why he's been too kind and generous to him over the years.

He may be shameless for staying in the company after everything that had happened, but that's because he doesn't want to be away from Jungkook.

If he could stay by his side even if he throws him all the hate, he would blindly accept it.

It may be foolish for some, but for him who has never loved before, it's worth every pain.

But that's all there is.

He's not going to enjoy all the perks of being the son of the CEO's mistress. He hasn't gotten to that point of being shameless.

As a matter of fact, he now regretted everything that he had received from the older Jeon.

The only thing that he couldn't give up is his job, solely because of Jungkook.

It's the only way he could stand next to him and be an arm's length away.

The brunet made his way to his cubicle, eyes darting on the closed door to the CEO's office.

It's 15 minutes before 8 and Jungkook might not be inside yet.

He sighed as he sat on his chair, immediately checking the schedule for the day.

Taehyung doesn't know how the ravenette will treat him, but he has come prepared for the worst.

As the time passed by, Taehyung emerged himself with work. At around 9, he heard incoming footsteps that made his heart beat like crazy.

He focused his attention on the monitor as the steps became louder, indicating that he's nearing.

Taehyung glanced up when he finally saw Jungkook in his usual black suit, unfairly looking as heavenly as ever. He stood, greeting him.

"Good morning, Mr. Jeon." Taehyung uttered but the latter just ignored him and went inside his office as if he didn't hear him.

The brunet sighed at the loud shut of the door. He shakes his head, not wanting to feel bad and be in another pool of self pity.

He took the schedule that he had made, courageously knocking on the closed door before opening it.

Taehyung gripped on the paper in hand, seeing the ravenette now sitting on his chair, eyes directed to him.

"Mr. Jeon, this is the schedule for the whole week. I made you a copy so you could prepare ahead." Taehyung carefully placed the schedule on top of the table, still not breaking eye contact with the ravenette's charcoal black eyes.

"There will be a meeting today with the directors and shareholders regarding some pending projects that-"

"You're really something, huh?"

Taehyung wasn't able to finish his words when he was cut off by the ravenette's mocking voice. He pursed his lips, not backing down at the intensity of the other's eyes.

"You still showed your face in this office as if nothing happened." Jungkook leaned his back on his chair, eyes scutinizing the brunet.

"Fucking shameless." He remarked, only to earn a smirk from the brunet.

"It'll take more than that to get rid of me, Mr. Jeon." Taehyung retorted back, smirking at the ravenette who looked at him with mocking eyes.

"I wouldn't expect less from a leech like you." Jungkook spat back, but Taehyung just shrugged him off.

"You'll have to deal with this leech for a very long time." Taehyung answered.

He saw the ravenette smirk, standing from his seat as he looked at him in the eyes.

"Must be nice to have the CEO backing you up, huh?" Jungkook raked his eyes up and down the brunet with a malicious smile.

Taehyung stood in front of him, unwavering. "You have no idea how nice it is."

He didn't flinch when Jungkook made his way toward him with daggers in his eyes.

"You could fire all the employees you want, but not me. Isn't that nice?" Taehyung added as Jungkook stopped in front of him.

His heart clenched when Jungkook harshly gripped his chin with a menacing look on his face.

"As soon as I officially take over this company from my father, I'm going to make sure you'll be out of my sight." Jungkook threatened, gripping his jaw hard.

His eyes landed on the necklace Taehyung is wearing, a hint of pain momentarily crossed his eyes but Taehyung didn't see it.

The brunet ignored the harsh grip in his jaw as he forcefully removed Jungkook's hand.

"I couldn't wait for that moment to come, Mr. Jeon." Taehyung leaned his face until he's only a breath away from the ravenette's own.

"but for now, you'll be stuck with me whether you like it or not." Taehyung smiled, seeing Jungkook's glare turn even deadlier.

"Now, if you'll excuse me." Taehyung moved away, wiping off the area Jungkook had touched.

"I still have a lot of things to do as your secretary." He remarked before turning on his heel.

He was by the door when he remembered something.

"By the way, Mr. Jeon. Today's meeting starts at 10." Taehyung uttered before closing the door behind.

He breathed in, filling his lungs with air as he went to his cubicle. He tried going back to his work, tapping his fingers on the keyboard and only then was he able to realize he's shaking.

He clasped his hands together, trying to stop the shaking of his hands.

Taehyung knows he's doing everything in the wrong way, but it's not like he could just let Jungkook step on him and belittle him for something he didn't do.

It was his mother's doing.

It's not him.

But at the back of his mind, he could understand where Jungkook's hate is coming from.

Taehyung had wanted to say sorry for what his mother had done, but Jungkook's wrath wouldn't let him.

He wouldn't even listen to his explanations.

He sees him as someone who's cunning and manipulative just like his mother.

Jungkook couldn't trust him anymore, but Taehyung isn't any better.

If only he trusted Jungkook and cleared up the misunderstanding Bogum has once caused, Jungkook wouldn't have misunderstood his intentions.

Now, Jungkook thought that all along, he's been playing with him, using him to get everything he wanted just like his mother.

But that was all in the past. He couldn't turn back time and make everything right.

He's right in this moment where everything is wrong.

However, it's fine.

As long as he could stay by his side.
