Fourteen
"Please have a seat."
Taehyung politely asked Lisa to take a seat on the couch inside the CEO's office.
He forced a smile, making sure to act professional amidst his rising frustration and anxiety.
"Thank you, Taehyung." Lisa said in a friendly tone that somewhat made Taehyung cringe a bit. She smiles fondly at him which only made Taehyung feel guilty.
She seems nice, and Taehyung shouldn't treat her bad just because she claims to be Jungkook's girlfriend.
Though the thought still brings a bitter taste to his mouth, he couldn't just snap at her since Jungkook and him don't really have something official going on between them.
They kissed. Yes.
Almost fucked, even.
But then, what exactly are they?
He's so unsure unlike this woman who labels herself as 'the girlfriend'. Taehyung tried his best to prevent his emotions from showing on his face.
Jungkook is not inside the office when they arrived. He must have went outside when Taehyung was in the cafeteria.
"Mr. Jeon might have gone outside for lunch." Taehyung informed after a while.
Lisa just smiled at him. "I don't think so. I told him over the phone that I'll be coming over to bring him lunch." She beamed, lifting the paperbag she's been holding, which Taehyung hasn't noticed until now.
"Oh." Taehyung could only nod his head after his not so long response. He felt his stomach churn at this information.
"Maybe I should call him." Lisa muttered, fumbling through her pockets for her phone.
Taehyung just shrugged his shoulders, pretending to be unaffected as he went back to his cubicle. He told himself not to listen, but his mind just keeps on doing otherwise.
"Jungkookie~" Lisa cutely purred as she paces back and forth across the room.
The brunet rolled his eyes in annoyance, hearing her being all cutesy on the phone, knowing fully well she's talking to Jungkook.
"Where are you? I'm already here inside your office." Lisa pouted as if Jungkook can see her. She folded her arms over her chest, pretending to be angry.
"What? Hurry up Jungkookie~ I'm starving." She added in a sweet childlike tone accompanied by her giggles that annoyed the hell out of Taehyung.
He grips tightly on the mouse, clicking with too much force as he bit his lower lip in suppressed jealousy and anger, not caring if he'll end up tasting blood from it sooner or later.
Fucking end that fucking call.
Taehyung is dying to shove the phone away from Lisa, but the last piece of patience he has wouldn't let him do so.
Breathe in... Breathe out..
He chanted on his mind as a mantra to keep himself at bay. Nothing good will happen if he'll let his bad mouth take over his rational thinking.
"He said he's on his way back." Lisa eagerly shared the news to Taehyung who just nodded his head and forced the fakest smile.
"That's good." He answered in monotone which Lisa didn't seem to notice.
Taehyung deliberately dismissed whatever Lisa is going to say when he started pressing the keys on the keyboard, pretending to be typing something work-related. He doesn't want to talk to her anymore nor look at her.
He's just so pissed at the moment to even listen to her cute and sweet antics.
Jealousy is triggering the worst in him.
Yes. He's acknowledging that at this very moment, he's so fucking jealous.
From his peripheral vision, he saw Lisa sitting back on the couch, her white knee-length dress highlighting her softly muscled legs.
Taehyung glanced over the monitor, taking the opportunity to study this woman, unhealthily comparing himself to her.
Lisa has blonde wavy long hair, her full bangs making her face look even smaller. Her eyes popping beautifully from her face, but the most captivating feature she has is her bright smile.
Taehyung admits that she's pretty, but the bitchy side in him isn't letting himself be defeated.
She's pretty, yes. But she becomes average looking when compared to him.
Taehyung smirked at his own confidence and somehow he felt a bit okay for a while.
Only for a while because a minute or so later, the door bursts open, revealing Jungkook with his loosened tie, his unruly hair making him look so hot and totally fuckable, if that's even a word.
He's panting, maybe from rushing, but damn, he's even ten times hotter as he looks so out of breath.
And Taehyung's imagination just went back to the time when they kissed with too much intensity that had both of them gasping for air.
Taehyung's fantasies were interrupted by Lisa's voice erupting inside the whole room.
"Jungkookie! ~" She rushed to him, quickly snaking her arms around Jungkook's strong biceps.
Taehyung quickly looked away, his eyes darting fiercely on the monitor.
"Hey." Jungkook greeted back, smiling over Lisa. He glanced at Taehyung's direction, seeing him busy with work. He noticed the crease on Taehyung's forehead as he looks somewhat a bit pissed off.
"I brought your favorite food." Lisa beamed in overflowing excitement, only to notice that Jungkook's attention is not on her.
She blinks in confusion as she trailed where Jungkook is looking, finally understanding that he's glancing over Taehyung's direction.
Lisa doesn't like the way Jungkook is looking at Taehyung. She quickly lifted her hand, turning Jungkook's head towards her so he's now facing her.
"I brought your favorite food." She repeated with a smile.
Jungkook nodded his head before saying "Thank you."
He was immediately dragged on the couch, Lisa forcing him to sit as she sets up the food on the table.
"I asked Mama to help me." She excitedly showed him everything she prepared.
The pleasant smell coming from the food spreads in the confined room, and Taehyung couldn't help but glance in their direction.
And Taehyung almost fell off his chair when he saw Jungkook also looking at him. Their eyes finally locked at each other for the first time that day, and Taehyung couldn't help but feel his heart doing flips in his chest.
But it was short-lived when Lisa blocked their view.
"Yah! Why aren't you eating?" She pouted.
Jungkook chuckled, seeing her cute little pout that she always has whenever she wants to get something. He playfully ruffled her hair before glancing over Taehyung.
"Secretary Kim, join us here." Jungkook called out, making Taehyung flinch.
The brunet almost cursed. "Thank you sir, but I already had my lunch." He said in a firm voice, sounding so pissed off.
Jungkook noticed this. He lifted his brows, his stares questioning the attitude Taehyung is showing.
Taehyung just shrugged as he went back to locking eyes with the monitor.
Lisa, who's silently observing the two suddenly butts in. "The food is getting cold, Jungkookie." She intervened, finally taking the fork and swirling it around the pasta before lifting it in front of Jungkook's mouth.
"Here. Let me feed you." Lisa eagerly said, pushing the food to Jungkook. She batted her eyes, trying to convince Jungkook to take her offer.
Jungkook shakes his head, a fond smile on his lips as he takes the bite.
"How was it?" Lisa excitedly asked, her eyes shining in anticipation.
Jungkook smiled. "It's good." He finally said, making Lisa beam in too much delight.
"Yes!" She grinned, feeding Jungkook some more.
Taehyung couldn't take it anymore. His fuse went on fire when he saw Lisa wiping off the side of Jungkook's lips with her hand. He quickly stood, dragging the chair, a loud screeching sound made the two flinch.
"Sorry." Taehyung said as he walked towards the kitchen, passing in front of the two.
"Could you get us some water?"
Taehyung halted on his tracks, hearing Lisa say those words. He turned to look at her.
"Yes?" He asked, wanting to clarify.
"Could you get us some water, please. You're going inside the kitchen, right?" She said, smiling apologetically at him.
Taehyung doesn't know why but her smile feels sarcastic and annoying.
"Sure." He answered, rushing inside the kitchen, making sure to close the door with a loud bang.
"The fuck!" Taehyung cursed as he stomped his feet towards the refrigerator.
He took the bottle of water inside before slamming the door, making the contents inside shake at the force. He took a glass from the cabinet, pouring down the water and immediately gulping it down.
"That bitch!" Taehyung angrily poured some more before drinking it up.
The water gliding down his throat somehow helps ease his anger, calming his mind a little.
He breathed in and out, trying to compose himself. And when he thought he's already composed, he took two unused glasses on the cabinet, another bottle of water on the fridge before finally deciding to go out.
Taehyung walked towards the two, his hand gripping on the bottle of water and the glasses.
He saw Lisa sitting so close to Jungkook, her arms wrapped around his biceps.
The sight made Taehyung's blood boil once more. He smashed the glasses on the table with a loud force, almost breaking it.
"Oh my!" Lisa jolted at the sound, her shocked eyes looking at Taehyung.
"Here's your water." Taehyung sweetly said before walking back to his cubicle as if nothing happened. He didn't care whether Jungkook is looking seriously towards him.
There was a heavy silence after that, everyone could feel the tension inside the room.
Suffocating and awkward.
Fortunately, Lisa's phone blasted an incoming call.
"Excuse me." She said, taking her phone and walking out of the room.
As soon as the door closes, Jungkook went to Taehyung, his face serious and threatening.
"Do we have a problem, Secretary Kim?" He said in a dangerous voice, but Taehyung won't back out.
"Do we, sir?" He asked instead, voice full of sarcasm.
Jungkook seems to be taken aback by his attitude. "You're acting bitchy since morning. What the hell is the problem?" He muttered, eyes piercing on the brunet who shivered at the intensity of his voice.
"Why don't you ask yourself, sir. What do you think is the problem?" Taehyung returned the question once again, making Jungkook lose his patience.
He grips Taehyung by his wrist, forcing him to stand until their faces are leveled.
"Don't fucking answer me with a question, Taehyung." Jungkook warned, his eyes burning as he looks directly to Taehyung's brown ones.
Taehyung rolled his eyes. "Don't ask me, then." He retorted.
Jungkook would've said something, but the door opened again and Lisa came in.
"Jungkookie---" She wasn't able to continue, seeing Jungkook and Taehyung basically glaring at each other.
"Uhm.. Are you two okay?" She asked, her eyes looking back and forth between the two. She saw Jungkook gripping Taehyung by his arm and she didn't like it one bit.
"Yes. Mr. Jeon just told me to take charge in here because he'll be driving you back home." Taehyung said, taking his arm away from Jungkook's grasp.
He forced a smile as he looks at Lisa who's beaming excitedly.
"Really, Jungkookie?" She asked in a very happy tone.
Jungkook didn't say anything. He just sighed, walking away to Taehyung.
"Get your things." He said, which Lisa quickly did.
Taehyung sat back on his chair, not minding the intense stare Jungkook is giving him.
The kind of stare that says their conversation isn't over yet.
---------
Taehyung tiredly drops his body on top of his bed. He felt so fucked up, shitty, damned and everything between those lines.
He lifted his phone, suddenly wanting to have someone to talk to and get wasted. He dialed Jin's number and with just few rings, Jin picked up.
"Hey." Jin answered on the other line.
"Hey. Can we meet later? Have a drink and all those shits?" Taehyung said, his voice hoarse.
Jin could sense something is off from his voice. "Yeah. Sure."
"Thank fuck." Taehyung groaned. "The usual place, 9 pm. Fetch me. I'm not in the mood to drive." He added before pressing the end button.
Taehyung sighed, his body felt heavy. He still has 3 hrs. to prepare so he decided to take a short nap, hoping to feel a bit better before 9.
Hours passed by, Taehyung completely dozed off, forgetting about the time. He was so out of it when he heard the doorbell ring.
Taehyung quickly jumped off the bed, his eyes scanning his bed for his phone.
The room is dark, making it a lot harder. He lifted his pillows, finally finding his phone underneath.
"Fuck." He looked at the time and groaned, seeing that it's 15 minutes before 9.
"Oh shit!" He cursed as the doorbell kept on ringing.
"Coming!" He shouted, rushing out of the house. He glanced at his phone, realizing that Jin had texted him.
Taehyung went in front of the door, opening it as fast as possible.
"Shit. I'm sorry I---"
Taehyung blinks a couple of times, his eyes seemingly playing with him right now.
He mindlessly looked at his phone, checking Jin's text.
Sorry, Tae. I can't make it. Got an emergency at home. Sorry.
Taehyung glanced up, blinks a couple of times even more, wanting to make sure he's not hallucinating.
Because standing right in front of him, in his house, is no other than Jeon Jungkook.
And he's not looking so happy.

Love you. 💜
