   Genoa has always been renowned as one of the greatest Mediterranean ports, a bustling center of trade, wealth and fine arts. It has continued to be among the most vibrant and magnificent cities in Europe since the eleventh century, when the strongest naval power on the continent, the Republic of Genoa, ruled the seas.  

   Its unique spirit and unforgettable atmosphere is alive to this day. Millions of tourists visit the historical center to admire the beauty of Le Strade Nuove e il sistema dei palazzi dei Rolli di Genova* which are part of the world's cultural heritage.

   *The New Streets and the system of Palaces of the Lists- a group of streets and one hundred and sixty three unique, Renaissance and Baroque private palaces, which were built by the aristocracy in 16th and 17th centuries.

   This was the environment, which helped the aristocratic family De Angelis thrive for hundreds of years and take full advantage of the opportunities that Italian province of Liguria's capital offered.

   I am pleased to introduce you to some of the older and other, brand new members of this noble family who are also the main characters in our story.

Skylar de Angelis 

   Sky is a talented artist in secret. Painting is his love and passion. He is smart, shy, kind hearted, and often quite anxious in public. Despite his interest in arts, he is a Vienna University of Economics graduate who received his Master's degree in business management in Bologna. Sky moved to Italy with his mother at the age of ten to live with his Italian aristocratic stepfather, who adopted him into De Angelis family.

   Birthplace – New York, USA

   Residence – Rome, Italy

   Occupation - he just started a job at De Angelis Corporation as a personal assistant to the marketing director

   Age – 25

  Tidbits – craving to escape from his stepfather's control, desperately in love with his boss, too hesitant to do something about either of those problems

Conte Massimiliano de Angelis

   Massimo is a hereditary Italian count, billionaire, Luca's biological father, and Skylar's stepfather. The count is a loving parent, but also a demanding and controlling person. Since Luca has his own business and does not like to be told what to do, the head of the family is determined to train Sky to be the future CEO.

   Birthplace – Genova, Italy

   Residence – Rome, Italy

   Occupation – Owner and CEO of De Angelis Corporation

   Age – 60

   Tidbits - His employees call him The Big A. He is a total workaholic. Massimo is also a big admirer of female wit and beauty.

Amelia de Angelis 

   Amelia is an emancipated New York woman, a loving mother, and an avid tourist. She is Count de Angelis' second wife and Sky's mother. This energetic lady genuinely loves her husband, although, it does not stop her from traveling around the world most of the time.

   Birthplace – New York, USA

   Residence – Rome, Italy

   Occupation - former New York real estate agent, currently the manager of De Angelis Charitable Foundation

   Age – 50

   Tidbits – She fell in love and married the Italian count to whom she sold a luxurious apartment in the Billionaires' Row* at the southern end of Central Park in Manhattan, New York City. 

   *Billionaires' Row – a group of residential skyscrapers on New York 57th street, some of which are among the tallest buildings in the world, containing super expensive accommodations. Famous public figures have bought property there at astronomical prices.

Conte Luca de Angelis

   Luca is a hereditary Italian count, billionaire, Count Massimo's biological son, and Skylar's stepbrother. 

   Birthplace – Genova, Italy

   Residence – Palazzo di Angelis, the family estate in Genova, Italy

   Occupation – co-owner of a successful independent society, working in the field of cruise ships safety. He established the company together with his best friend and associate Ryo Takayama. With their personal dedication and full commitment, they succeeded in becoming the most sought-after security experts in Europe.

   Age – 35

   Tidbits – Luca is a bohemian and a former playboy. He is well known in business circles for his reckless decisions, which always turn out tremendously successful. However, those times are gone as he is now madly in love with his girlfriend Sarah, who is the only woman who rejects him at first.

Viscontessa Giovanna Altamura 

   Giovanna is a hereditary Italian viscountess. She is Massimo de Angelis' ex-wife and Luca's mother. 

   Birthplace – Genova, Italy

   Residence – Palazzo di Altamura, Genova, Italy

   Occupation – Philanthropist, a large landowner and rentier, the head of several private charitable foundations

   Age – 65

   Tidbits – The viscountess adores both her son and his stepbrother. Sky is her soft spot because of his gentle nature. She is also good friends with Amelia. But she hates count Massimo's guts. The main reason is that their characters are too similar to work together. They still have a deep mutual respect.

I hope this will also make it easier to remember who is who as the story unfolds.
