Nosy

School started in two weeks and for every night during those two weeks, Suki, Katara and Toph could hear the yelling between the two siblings during the day, and late at night the older brother coming home shitfaced. Except weekends oddly enough.

"You all sounds obsessed," Sokka was sitting on the floor with Suki as they played video games together while everyone else sat on the couch or the chair behind them.

"Toph wants us to stay up and wait to see what they do when they come home at 2 or 3 in the morning," Suki leaned against her boyfriend trying to mess him up on the zombies they were trying to kill in the game.

"Why?" Aang asked confused.

"Okay so it's only on weekends I can hear some people coming back to the apartment at like 3 in the morning, I hear talking but they aren't shit faced like on week days," Toph sat up as she explained.

"Isn't that weird?" She smiled at the mystery.

"It's the brother that's always wasted?" Sokka asked raising a brow but screamed when he lost the game.

"Yea, his names Zuko, there's a few times his other roommates are with him but usually comes back alone but can't open the door by himself," Toph smiled deviously.

"And you call me nosy," Katara was playing on her phone.

"But it's Saturday now, sooooo that means they'll be sober tonight," Toph hummed.

"They?" Suki looked back.

"I think he's hooking up with that ty girl, he always comes home with a girl and I think it's her voice," Toph smirked.

"Maybe he has his own girlfriend he brings home on the weekend?" Katara didn't believe her. When she's ran into them there was no romance or connection like that with them.

"He already lives with her," Sokka snorted. "Guys and girls can't be friends like that without hooking up at least once,"

"God not everything is about sex Sokka!" Katara groaned throwing her head back.

"Roommates? Yes it is," he teased.

"I don't see it," Suki looked at him unamused.

"It's already midnight," Sokka grinned mischievously.

"We're not stalking our neighbors that's insane," Katara waved them away as she got up from the couch to get a drink.

"It's not stalking!" Her brother whined.

"It's borderline stalking," she called back.

"It's creepy," Suki agreed.

"It's solving a mystery come on," Toph sprawled on the couch and melted down to the floor dramatically.

"Aang break the tie," Sokka looked at the only one without an opinion on the situation.

"It is kind of weird to wait for their neighbors to come home," Aang shrugged a little embarrassed.

"Thank you!" Katara held her bottle high and mighty.

"Bring the whole bottle," Suki waved her over holding up her empty glass.

"On it," Katara smiled filling her glass.

"Are you guys staying over?" Suki asked looking at the boys.

"I'll stay," Aang nodded.

"Oh I'm staying," Sokka winked at his girlfriend and she laughed a little kissing his cheek.

"Save it for the bedroom," Katara teased sipping her wine.

Everyone was drunk on the third bottle of wine as they were sleeping or talking in the living room. Katara laid on the floor fighting sleep but her face was hot and the room was spinning. She felt like the air was so heavy.

"Guys I'm going to the balcony it's to hot," Katara groaned sitting up.

"Take a water with you," Suki laid across sokkas lap as he was sleeping with his head back and mouth open.

"Okay okay, it's just so stuffy, I need air," she sighed forcing herself to stand even if she was dizzy.

She stumbled for a second for caught herself to balance, she blinked a few times trying to steady herself and fight the dizziness. Going to the kitchen to get a bottle of water to take to the rooftop that was open for all tenants.

She opened the door and looked both ways to figure out where the stairs were. Turning to find them but eventually went back the other way where they actually were. She just wanted fresh air.

Katara when upstairs and felt a warm summer breeze from the night air as soon as she opened the heavy metal door. Immediately feeling more sober and could breathe again.

It was a cute space that had outdoor couches and other seating, with an electric fireplace that was easy to use. Many people spend their time smoking or having small hangouts on the rooftop but it was a nice space.

She sat on a chair and sighed with her head back, it was so late and she was still very drunk.

"I'm so calling into work," Katara covered her face still feeling very warm. A small giggle left her lips feeling the alcohol still.

She went to the railing to look over the city, trying to not throw up, looking down as her vision wouldn't focus. Her head was spinning.

She had one year of college left and then she was done. She just wanted to be done.

Katara leaned against the edge, putting her face in her hands as she tried to collect her drunken thoughts, overwhelmed and alone for how much has changed and all the pressure now. She kept wobbling and leaning forward but didn't realize how weak her legs felt.

But a hand grabbed her shoulder and made Katara scream surprised turning around.

"You might want to sit," a voice rasped, gripping her shoulder tightly but that might've been so she didn't fall.

"I'm fine let go," Katara backed away to get some distance but she finally looked at who it was and was shocked seeing her neighbor.

"Sit anyways, You looked like you were going to fall," Zuko told her firmly as he had a unlit cigarette between his lips.

"W-what are You doing up here? What time is it?" Katara went back to the outdoor seating and dropped back on the couch.

"Just having a smoke before bed, it is 3:37 currently," Zuko looked at his watch before lighting his cigarette.

"Why are You up so late? You seem sober," Katara tilted her head to the side.

"I am sober, and I just got off work," he inhaled the smoke and let it drift from his lips.

"You are definitely drunk, you shouldn't come up here alone," Zuko looked back at her with annoyance.

"I just needed fresh air," she whined.

"Mm," he nodded and let it be quiet.

"What do you do for work?" Katara didn't like the awkward silence.

"I have a few jobs, weekends i work security and a bartender," Zuko sighed rolling his eyes.

"And weekdays? You don't work?" She grinned up at him.

"None of your business," he replied.

"Your friends were right, your not much nicer sober," Katara snorted a little.

He shrugged at that not taking any offense to it as he just wanted to finish his cigarette.

"Is everything okay?" Azula popped her head past the door, Ty Lee came home but it's been a while since they've seen Zuko.

"Hey, just finishing up," Zuko flicked the ash off.

"Ty told me work was aggressive again," she walked over but paused seeing Katara.

"She's drunk and needed air, here before I was," Zuko explained. His sister nodded.

"Got an extra?" Azula asked motioning to his pack.

"Here," he offered a cigarette and gave her his lighter.

"Wow you guys aren't yelling, I'm surprised," Katara laid on the couch now tired.

"We don't yell that much," Azula frowned.

"Yes we do," her brother disagreed.

"Is ty Lee okay? She was pretty shaken up on the car ride home," Zuko placed the cigarette back to his lips.

"She's in the shower," Azula pursed her lips.

The siblings looked back at their neighbor and saw Katara was now asleep on the couch. Zuko sighed knowing she would and Azula blew smoke in her direction.

"Your one year anniversary with ty Lee is coming up, doing anything special?" Zuko smirked back at his sister.

"Maybe go somewhere for the weekend just the two of us? I suck at gifts," Azula blushed keeping her eyes down.

"Ask uncle, he's a hopeless romantic," he chuckled a little.

"Do you want to talk at all? Uncles asking about your drinking again," Azula raised a brow at him.

"It's just till school starts, I'll be fine, it's not that serious, don't tell him about it," Zuko looked away quickly.

"Zuko," she frowned instead.

"We should get neighbor girl back to her place, she won't wake up anytime soon," Zuko motioned to the sleeping drunk.

"You carry I'll hold the doors open?" Azula offered.

"Deal," he flicked his cigarette off the side of the building.
