Recap:

He pushes his hand through his hair as he gives me a smile.

"Any friend of the Collins', is a friend of mine. And as friends, we stand up for each other. Even if it is to other friends," he tells me firmly. "No one is going to get belittled under my watch."

He holds his hand out and I shake it firmly.

"Just don't let me down," he says quietly, meeting my eyes. "Otherwise there's nothing I can do to help you."

"I won't," I reply instantly, my face serious. "I promise."

---------------------

"You're an idiot."

"I think you mean charming?"

"No, I mean idiot," I huff as I grit my teeth together, pulling Finn from out of the passenger seat of my car.

"I've gone from practice and working out almost every day, to nothing. I need this," he whines to me and pouts, making my glare soften.

"Yeah, I know," I reply quietly as I loop my hand around his waist, to make sure he doesn't fall, while I fling the door shut with my other. I swiftly press the button on my keys and hear the distinct click as the doors lock.

He pushes off from the car and straightens. I pass him one crutch, and then the other. He settles his arms over them and wriggles for a moment, before getting comfortable.

"Ready?" I ask.

"Yep."

I walk slowly beside him as he hobbles towards the entrance of the gym. I feel really stupid bringing my brother, with a broken leg, to the gym, but he insists. As I hold the door open for him, the bell above us chimes, letting the staff know someone has entered.

"Finn Collins, you crazy mother fucker," I hear a deep voice say and I glance over to where Dave, one of the personal trainers, is stood. He is a tall, broad-shouldered man with thick arms and a deep voice. "What the hell are you doing here?"

"My legs might be out of action, but I can still do arm day," he laughs, even though you can see the strain on his face from using the crutches and dragging his heavily cast-clad leg.

"Touche, my brother," Dave says to him with a grin. "When you're back in action, give me a holler. I'll give you a freebie."

"Legend," Finn nods to him.

"Don't be too hard on him," he winks to me, before he saunters off in the opposite direction we're heading.

"Did he just wink at you?" Finn laughs. "He's old enough to be our dad."

"I know," I laugh as well, heading over to the counter. "Hey Skye."

"Hey girl," Skye replies as she holds her hand out.

I drop both mine and Finn's gym passes into her palm. She swipes them into the card processor. I take a moment to drag my eyes across her brightly coloured tattoos, briefly wondering what I would look like with them, not that I ever would.

"How're you doing, Finn?" she asks him with a sly grin, looking over the counter at his cast.

"Fantastic, thanks for asking," Finn sarcastically replies.

"Seems a bit weird going to the gym when you have a broken leg," she points out, curving her dark eyebrow at him.

"Arm day, okay? Arm day!" he practically shouts at her. Skye and I exchange a look with each other, before laughing.

Finn mutters under his breath as she passes the cards back to me. We go over to the weights and I help him lay down.

"I got this," a voice says to my right and I glance up, to see Alec.

"I don't mind," I tell him and feel a little awkward.

"I'll spot him, I've already completed my work out."

"Okay, if you're sure?" I ask him, noticing the excess sweat beading across his forehead.

"Yes," he replies tersely and steps in front of me, before smiling down to my brother. "How's it hanging, mate?"

"I needed to get out of the house," Finn's huffs and I take a step back, to get out of Alec's way. "I feel like I'm going insane being cooped inside all day."

"You're back to school next week, right?" Alec asks him.

"You bet I am."

"Has Jai spoken to you? About what he did?"

I feel the corners of my mouth tug down at his tone.

"About putting Miles on the team? Yeah," he shrugs.

"And?" Alec presses, glaring down at him.

"And I think it's a good idea. He's the only good enough player to cover me. We needed someone else anyway."

With a satisfied smile, I turn and walk away, ignoring the steam that is coming out of Alec's ears. I make my way over to the treadmill and begin my warm up. I spend twenty minutes on there, before moving over to do some core strengthening. I push myself to do five extra minutes than I normally would.

When I'm heading over to the weights, I wipe at my brow and bend over. I feel two warm hands on my hips. I quickly drop the weight and spin around, to see Miles smiling down at me.

"Hey," he greets me and before I can reply, plants a soft kiss on my lips.

"Hi," I grin up at him. "I didn't know you were coming."

"When you said you were bringing Finn, I thought I might as well," he replies, tightening his fingers around my shirt at my sides. I'm surprised I don't feel as self-conscious as I usually would, knowing that my cheeks are flushed and my skin clammy. This is what happens when you work out, I can't really hide that fact. I don't think Miles is shallow enough to judge my appearance. Not after everything we've been through. "I don't need much of an excuse to come see you."

I beam at him and kiss him softly on the edge of his jaw.

"Are you going to speak to Finn about the team?" I question.

He nods. "Yeah, I think I will when he's finished."

"Good idea."

I look over my shoulder, to see Finn pushing weights off his chest and Alec spotting for him. They're both concentrating, not paying any mind to us.

I suddenly reach for Miles' hands and drag him behind me. I rush towards the unisex, single bathroom and shove him inside, locking the door securely behind me, glad it somehow smells like vanilla scents in here.

When I turn, he is right there. I step back in surprise, my back hitting the door behind me. He presses the palms of his hands beside my head, trapping me.

"What are we doing in here?" he asks me softly, his eyes trained on my lips.

I drag my tongue across my lower lip and hear him make a deep sound in the back of his throat.

"Um..." I trail off, my mind getting stuck.

The air around us seems to crackle with tension as he moves his hand to the side of my face, trailing his thumb down my cheek.

"Hmm?" he continues, his thumb scraping my lips.

"I..." I cannot form a sentence with the way he is looking at me.

I bring my hands to his chest and gently touch it. I feel him tense under my fingers, before he grips my wrists and place my arms above my head. I feel flustered and overwhelmed as I peer up at him.

"I love you," he says firmly.

"I love you," I say back, just as he drives his lips to mine.

I eagerly kiss him back as he releases my arms. I tangle them around his neck as I leap onto his body, my legs wrapping around his waist. He walks me over to the sink bench and slides me across it, my back hitting the mirror.

Our skin is sweaty and slippery, but it doesn't slow us down. His kisses are strong and urgent, moving from my mouth, to my cheek, back to my mouth. He moves across my chin, down my jaw and to my neck, making soft bites as he goes.

"I am booking that cabin," he groans into me, his left hand twisting through my pony tail. "I'm going to book it tonight."

"Yes," I gasp into his mouth as he kisses me. "Please."

***

"Ow!" I whine as Kiarra's black-nailed finger prods my cheek.

"You are so cute," she teases and pokes me again.

I quickly slap her hand away as she grins.

"What?"

"You're all bubbly and smiley," she informs me. "It's cute."

My cheeks warm. "He makes me feel giddy."

"Yeah, I know," she laughs.

"So, what's going on with you and Jai?" I ask her, diverting the attention from me as we make our way towards the cafeteria.

"We've been hanging out a lot. He came over last night to watch a movie."

"Oh," I say suggestively, wiggling my eyebrows. "Did you watch any of the movie?"

"Nope," she laughs.

"So...?" I press.

"Okay, I can't hold it in anymore. He asked me out," she gushes with a smile. "And you know I said yes."

"Yay!" I squeal and wrap my arms around her neck. "How have you waited all day to tell me this?"

"I haven't had a chance to talk to you!" she defends herself and I tsk in disapproval at her.

"I'm so happy for you. You and Jai are pretty much my favourite people in the world, so it makes sense you two are perfect for each other."

"Besides Miles of course! Thanks Is," she smiles at me as we take our seat, our arms brushing as we do.

I see her flaming red hair and I try not to grimace as Samara strides into the cafeteria, flanked with two girls she once told me she hated. Kiarra scoffs beside me and mutters something about being a, "two-faced hoe." I find myself feeling sad as I watch her laugh at something the girl beside her says, thinking that could be Samara, Kiarra and I.

Even though she treated me terribly, I miss her.

"Don't give her the satisfaction of looking," Kiarra says to me flatly. "That's what she wants."

With a sigh, I pull my gaze from her and instead, look at the best friend beside me who has never hurt me, never tried to sabotage my relationship and has always been honest. I suddenly reach out and wrap my arms around her.

"Aw," she smiles and hugs me back. "What was that for?"

"Thanks for being you," I say to her.

She gently squeezes my shoulder, before taking her sandwich into both hands. We spend the rest of lunch gossiping about what T.V shows we were currently watching. It is nice to spend some one-on-one time with her, while the boys have a team meeting.

When the bell signals the end of lunch, I reluctantly get up. We make our way to the gym, the last two periods being sport. We stop to fill Kiarra's drink bottle for a minute, before continuing the walk to the other end of the school.

I follow Kiarra into the locker room. Before we round the corner, I hear Samara's voice.

"Honestly, she's such a drama queen. She throws herself at any boy that gives her attention and then would come whining to me about it when all they want is sex. But of course, she's so innocent and would never put out."

I freeze. She's talking about me. Why is not sleeping with someone such a big deal? I honestly don't understand the way people think sometimes.

"What a joke," I hear another girl reply. "Miles could do so much better. Why would he settle for her, when he could have someone who satisfies his needs?"

"Well, let me tell you, at the last party, I reckon he was looking at me. Like, really looking at me. He probably realised I can give him what he wants."

I feel my fists ball at my sides at her blatant lie. I know she tried to get with him, but she's twisting it around to make him look like the bad guy. I feel my nails cutting into my skin.

"That's it," I hear Kiarra snap as she strides forward and I quickly run to catch up with her.

Samara's face shows shock as Kiarra walks towards her.

"You are a pathetic liar who tried and failed to throw yourself at Miles, because you doubted the integrity of your best friend. You're sick and twisted and frankly, I am so glad to be done with you, you fucking tramp." Her words echo around the small change room and every other girl inside becomes dead quiet as they watch.

Kiarra's hands shoot out in front of her and slam into Samara's chest. The sound of her back hitting the metal locker beside her resonates through the small locker room, a few of the girls gasping in surprise.

"Samara," I find myself saying, finally able to stand up to her, after all this time. "Miles told me what you did. You're disgusting. How could you do that to me?"

"He told you his version," she spits at me and I shake my head.

"It's so sad to see how desperate you are," I say softly and her eyes blaze in anger.

She pushes Kiarra to the side and begins to stride towards me.

I know she is going to hit me.

Before she can get even close, Kiarra let's out a scream and lunges at her. She tackles Samara to the ground and lands a punch straight in her face. Samara screams loudly in pain as her head snaps back onto the tiled floor beneath us. Kiarra's hands tighten around Samara's throat and my hands fly to my mouth in horror, visions of her skull cracking and blood oozing across the dirty, tiled floor, flooding into my mind, making me feel queasy.

"What is going on in here?" I hear Mrs Price snap as she walks in. She gasps when she sees Kiarra on top of Samara. "Miss Stevenson! Get off her now!"

Kiarra gets to her feet and glowers down to Samara, before stepping back, a look of pure rage etched onto her face.

"Get out. Now!" she snaps and Kiarra calmly picks up her bag and walks from the room, a satisfied smile on her face.

As Mrs Price helps Samara to her feet, I don't hang around to feel her wrath. I walk out into the gym, where a group of the boys have gathered, trying to see in through the door.

"What the hell happened?" Miles asks, looking from Kiarra, to me and back to Kiarra.

"I got even," is all she says, before she unhurriedly walks past us and out through the gym doors, without a backwards glance.

-------------------

I can't help myself, I love fight scenes. Do you think Kiarra was in the right to do that to Samara? Do you think things will ever be right with them again? Is there more between Kiarra and Samara that we don't know about? Tell me all your thoughts!
