CHAPTER THIRTEEN:
FRANK LEAVES
AND EVERYTHING CHANGES

▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃

"LOGAN?"

Ketti's heart skipped a beat at the sound of his voice. The pet name. She'd forgotten how much she liked his voice.

She wished she was sober enough to think clearly.

"Hey, kid," Logan replied softly. "You okay? You somewhere safe?"

"Mmhm," Ketti ran her hand through Matt's hair absentmindedly as she spoke to Logan. "At Matty's."

"Good girl," Logan praised her. "You been drinking?"

"Mmhm," Ketti hummed. "Are you mad at me?"

"No," Logan said softly. "Why do you think that?"

"Because you're ignoring me," Ketti sighed heavily. "You and Wade. I miss you."

It was quiet for a moment.

"Call me in the morning if you remember, okay?" He asked her. "Get some sleep, bub."

"Okay, Lo."

Ketti ended the call and within minutes her head was back against the sofa wall, asleep.

Frank's hands were calloused and rough, and sometimes had blood stains on the knuckles that she never asked about.

Frank's eyes were full of warmth and a softness she knew he only looked at her with.

Frank's hair was soft in her fingers and his growing stubble scratched her cheeks and chin when they kissed.

Frank's mouth knew every inch of her body. Memorized what made her gasp or moan or ache with pleasure. His tongue traced over her breasts and naval and core and he could make her come in seconds if he tried hard enough.

(Wait until you feel Logan for the first time, Ketti. Say hello to the big guy for me when you reach Heaven.)

God, she liked Frank.

Ketti teared up as Frank's mouth moved softly against her skin, leaving kisses and marks in the aftermath.

God, she liked Frank so much it hurt.

"Darlin?" He asked, pulling back and looking down at her, resting on his forearms above her. "Hey, baby, what's wrong?"

"I can't do this," she sobbed softly, tears falling before she could stop them.

"Hey, shh," he moved up and into a better position, gently wiping the tears from her eyes. "Talk to me, darlin."

"I..." Ketti shook her head, looking up at his perfect face. How could she have done this? Gotten so involved with him?

A man who had already been hurt so tremendously. A man who'd lost everyone he'd ever loved and now he'd lose her too.

"Oh, sweet girl," he said softly, pressing a kiss to her head before sitting up. "I ain't mad, it's okay."

How did he just get her? How could she give up someone like this? He made her feel so good.

He just wasn't right for her.

He wasn't Wade. He wasn't Logan.

He was Frank.

"I care about you so much," she said tearfully, sitting up and cupping his face. "You know that, right?"

"I know," Frank smiled sadly, such an adoring, soft look on his face that made her heart shatter. "I know, darlin, but I always knew where this was going."

"How could you have known, I—"

"—I told you I heard you," Frank reminded her gently. "That first night in the bar. You called your friends, I heard you. I knew then that you had them, it's okay. Wade, Logan, you're not mine."

"I'm not theirs," she muttered defiantly, but she knew it was faulty. Of course she was. She'd probably been theirs the second she met Deadpool. She was probably always meant to be theirs.

Frank shook his head with a small smile and pressed a kiss to her head. "I should go."

(Yes, please do. You're not the love interest, champ, go and do Punisher things.)

Ketti's heart ached at his words and she nodded, getting out of bed with him, slipping in one of her shirts.

Frank grabbed his wallet, keys, phone, and tucked it away, slipping into his boots, sending her a glance.

"Don't cry, baby," he said softly, walking around the bed and pulling her to him. "I ain't mad at you at all. You're so damn good for me, know that?"

Ketti couldn't stop the tears. The relief at him leaving, of being able to see Wade and Logan again. (Of course she's relieved, her life must have been so boring without us.) The pain from losing him, the guilt from simultaneously feeling affections for him and for now ending...whatever was between them.

He calmed her gently, running his hand through her hair, the other around her waist, pressing soft kisses to her hairline.

"I'm always gonna be here," he promised softly. "It's not a breakup, sweetheart, we weren't together. But it ain't a goodbye, either. Those are forever, I ain't gonna say goodbye."

"But I can't keep doing this," Ketti pulled back and sniffled as he wiped her cheeks clear of tears. "I'm so sorry I got us into this mess."

Frank chuckled, shaking his head. "You're so damn cute, Kipps, you think this was a mess? Ain't a mess. Just life. I knew you had a complication when I met you darlin, you just didn't see it then. I never expected this to be permanent."

"I like you so much," Ketti assured quietly and he nodded, kissing her forehead again.

"I like you too," he told her. "And this is the best thing I've had in years. I'm always gonna hold you close to me."

"Me too," Ketti nodded, meeting his eyes again. She bit her lip, the realization that it would be the last time hitting her.

She didn't even want to label what they were. It wasn't a relationship, but it wasn't friendship, but it wasn't just sex.

With Frank...it just was. It was easy and effortless and safe and she cared so deeply about him that —

She pulled his face down into another kiss and he met her eagerly, their lips in tandem together. It wasn't passionate like the first time, or gentle like the dozens after.

It was final, it was full of heartbreak. She was crying softly through it because she's a fucking emotional mess and he met her halfway. He always met her where she needed. He always just knew.

He pulled her closer and she reached her hands down. She needed him. Just one more time, just to feel him, to remember him, remember this.

"You sure?" He muttered against her lips.

At her nod, he didn't hesitate and slipped from his pants, lifting her and setting her on her dresser.

"Gonna miss you, baby," he told her softly, slipping into her with practiced ease.

Ketti didn't even care that she wasn't completely ready, that it burned when he entered. She just wanted to feel him, wanted to remember this, remember him.

"Gonna miss you too," she whined and her head fell back with pleasure as he rocked his hips against hers.

A hiss left his mouth and he tangled a hand in her hair, pressing open mouthed kisses to her neck.

It was rushed and hurried and desperate, both of them yearning for the other with a passion only the two of them could feel.

"That's it," he grunted, coaxing her through her release as it crept up, his thumb pressing on her clit. "One last time, you give it to me, darlin."

"Fuck," she gasped out, meeting his eyes. "I'm gonna..."

"I know," he nodded, moving the hand from his hair to her face, cupping it, eyes on hers. They'd never done that before.

Never made eye contact through the finish.

It was so different, so much deeper. Her soul met his, clinging to him as he tumbled after her, following quickly into his own peak. Her thighs spasmed around him and his hips bucked once, twice, then softened, slowly finishing.

Another kiss to her head. "You're so good, baby," he whispered. "I'm so fucking glad I met you."

Frank pulled out and gently cleaned her, pressing a kiss to her nose, then tucked himself away.

"Come on," he helped her off the dresser. "Walk me out?"

Ketti nodded, fiddling with her hands as she walked down the hallway with him, eye drifting to Cetti-Cat, who had his head under a pillow, asleep.

"I am sorry," she said again as Frank opened the door, grabbing his jacket. "For—"

"—Don't be," he shook his head, smiling gently down at her. "I don't regret a fucking second."

"No? Even if I'm ending it like this?"

"You were too good for me, anyway, Kipps," he said sadly. "I was just happy to be around."

Ketti bit her lip, pulling him into a hug.

"You call me, okay?" He ran his fingers through her hair softly. "Whenever you need anythin', I'll be there. You, your friends, I don't care. I got you."

Ketti nodded. "Maybe in another life you and I work out."

(Absolutely not.)

Frank chuckled, taking a deep breath and pulling away. "Ketti Kipps, I don't think I'm lucky enough to land you twice."

Ketti smiled at his words and he brushed back a piece of her hair.

"See you, darlin."

"Bye, Frank."

(Bye, bye, bye.)

Frank closed the door behind him and Ketti leaned her head against the wood, sighing heavily.

"Finally."

Ketti jumped at the voice, looking back with wide eyes at a man.

A familiar man. With dark hair and green eyes and a mischievous pull of a smirk. A man she'd seen in photos when she and Peter hacked into SHIELD databases before they were leaked. A man she knew was Peter's biggest crush.

A man she never ever thought she'd meet.

A man who wasn't even a man at all, really.

"What the — fuck — are you — Loki?"
