"Alright, speed daters!" the lady at the coffee shop hosting the event says. You stare up at her before pressing your lips together to fix your lip gloss. Leaning back in your seat, you glance away from her and look at the men who are here for the speed dating event.
There's a few guys who you can tell have never been on a date before. A few look like they're being forced to be here. There's four men who you definitely want to have a conversation with. The remainder are average.
All of the women here are pretty. You can tell all of them put in a lot of effort to dress up for this.
You glance up at the lady once more as she starts to speak again.
"So, here are the rules. One: each conversation is going to be five minutes. Two: when you hear the bell, the men will move to a new table. Three: have fun and if you're interested in anyone here, please come up to us by the end of the event. If the person you're interested in is also interested in you, we will let you two exchange phone numbers." She states.
Sweet, makes your life easier. If someone's interested in you but you don't feel the same, you won't have to reject them directly.
"Now, let's get everything set up!" A man standing near her states. He looks like he's a barista here.
They start assigning the women to tables. You're at table 7.
You sit on your chair and cross your legs while anxiously glancing over at the guys. You already see some of them looking at you. Tilting your head to the side, you give the ones you're interested in a friendly smile before glancing down at the menu sitting on the table.
You stare down at the drink that Seulgi recommended on the menu before nodding your head.
While they finish getting everything set up, you decide to call the barista over to place an order for the drink.
"Yes, miss? What can I help you with?" he asks while smiling politely down at you.
"Would you be able to get me a small honey tea, please?" you question. He nods his head and writes it down before giving you another friendly smile.
"That's a personal favorite drink of mine." He states before giving you a quick wink. "I'll have that ready for you in a few minutes." You smile before giving him a polite head bow.
He steps away from your table to get your tea ready.
Right when he steps away, you're greeted by a man now sitting in front of you.
"Alright, first five minutes start... now!" the lady from before states, causing the man in front of you to immediately introduce himself.
"Hi, I'm Jay." He introduces himself. You smile over at him.
"My name is Y/N." you say. As you say this, the barista comes back with the honey tea. He sets it on the table before stepping away from the table. "So, what do you do?" you immediately question.
"I'm currently working as a manager at the Louis Vuitton store a few blocks down." He states. You tilt your head to the side as you stare over at him.
"A man with taste, I see." You say while smiling over at him. "I'm a student at the university right over there." You point towards the direction where it is. He nods his head before taking a sip of his coffee.
"I used to go to that university but I had to drop out. I couldn't figure out what I wanted to study." He responds. You nod your head before taking a sip of your tea once more. "So, what do you study?"
"I'm studying architecture." You state before smiling softly. He arches his eyebrows.
"Ah, so you must have good taste as well." He responds. You let out a soft laugh and nod your head.
"With the amount of different home designs I've seen, I sure hope so." You say, causing him to let out a soft laugh.
You two begin talking about different designer brands, how architecture classes are for you, etc.
Right when you two start getting somewhere, it's interrupted.
"Alright! Time to switch." Your smile drops after hearing this. Jay's smile drops as well.
"Well... I guess I'll see you later." He says, causing you to smile again. You nod your head and then watch him get up and see the new guy approaching.
You like Jay but you're not sure if you feel anything towards him.
"What's up? I'm Changbin." He says while flashing a friendly smile towards you. "What's your name?"
"I'm Y/N." you say before taking a sip of your drink. "So, what do you do?" you question.
"I'm studying accounting at the university over there." He states. "How about you?"
"I study architecture at the same university." You say while smiling softly.
"Architecture. I have a friend studying architecture. I've heard that's a very competitive major. You must be really talented." He states. You smile widely as you hear him say this.
"Thank you, I really appreciate hearing that." You state. "It is pretty competitive. It can be intense."
You two continue to have conversation before it's interrupted yet again by the signal to move to the next date.
Nine fast dates later, you're now finishing the last of your honey tea.
Looking around the room, you take a second to think about whose number you may want. Tilting your head to the side, you bite onto your lower lip before shaking your head. You want to think this through.
Eleven conversations is a lot to remember. So, you decide to use the bathroom and take your time as you recall every conversation you had.
As you stare at yourself in the mirror after using the restroom, you wash your hands and think about it.
The only person you see yourself potentially taking to the party is Changbin.
He was the one that made you feel sad when they said it was time to move on to the next date.
You smile softly at yourself in the mirror before nodding your head.
You're going to ask for his number.
You exit the bathroom and go to the area where people are exchanging numbers through the hosts of the event.
Approaching the woman in charge of the event, you give her a friendly smile.
"Hello. Are you here to see if someone asked for your number?" she questions immediately. You shrug your shoulder before pointing down at the list.
"I actually wanted to know if a specific person asked for my number." You state.
"What's your name and what's the name of the person you're curious about?" she questions.
"I'm Y/N and I'm interested in Changbin." You state.
She scans for your name before her eyes widen for a second.
"Wow. You're the hottest commodity on the list." She states, causing you to tilt your head to the side. Letting out a soft laugh, you widen your eyes slightly from shock.
"Really?" you question.
"Yes, out of the eleven men you talked to, eight asked for your number." She responds while smiling over at you.
"Ah, well, I guess I'm more charming than I think I am." You say before shrugging. "Is Changbin one of those eight?" you question. She nods her head immediately.
"Indeed, he is." She says before grabbing a small card, writing down his information on it.
You take the card from her and smile widely before tucking the card into your purse.
Glancing around, you see that almost everyone had already left and the coffee shop was about to go back to normal. So, you decide to do the friendly thing and get Seulgi and Sunmi drinks from the coffee shop.
You get Seulgi the honey tea that you had ordered earlier. As for Sunmi, you get her an iced coffee with hazelnut flavoring in it.
As you're waiting for your order, you hear a familiar deep voice near you.
"I'll have a tall hot chocolate and a tall, iced Americano." You hear the voice say. You slowly turn around, looking at the direction where the voice is coming from.
You see the tall man, holding the motorcycle helmet. He's dressed in a pair of grey sweatpants, socks with black sandals, a white t-shirt, and a tan cardigan on top.
His dark hair is worn curly today.
Seulgi and Sunmi were right. He is cuter than you remembered.
He feels someone staring at him and glances over in your direction.
He pauses for a second. You can see his brain working, trying to remember where he's seen you. The moment it clicks, you can see a slight bit of amusement in his eyes as he stares over at you. You're the girl who he had saved while on a bad first date.
He lets out a soft laugh as he sees you before gesturing for you to step closer to him. As you move in his direction and stand next to him at the counter, he tilts his head to the side.
"Ah, it's you." He states before smiling over at you, his deep voice giving you chills. You give him a soft smile.
"It's me." You state, letting out a soft laugh.
"How have you been? Weirdo didn't try calling you after that horrible date, did he?" he questions. You shake your head.
"I've been doing well. And no, he didn't try calling." You state before glancing over at the cashier, who appears to be getting impatient. Biting onto your lower lip, you take out some cash and place it onto the counter. "Let me cover your drinks. You know, as a 'thank you' for saving me the other night." The man laughs before nodding his head.
"Okay." He says before stuffing his hands into the pockets of his sweatpants. "Kim Taehyung." He suddenly utters. This causes you to look over at him.
"Pardon?"
"My name's Taehyung." He states. You nod your head.
"I'm Y/N." you respond.
"So, are you here on a different date? Or out with friends?" he questions. You gesture towards the speed dating area that the employees are starting to clean up.
"I was on a few speed dates." You state. He lifts his eyebrows before glancing around the coffee shop.
"Seems like a good place to have those." He nods his head before glancing over at the barista as he calls out your order. "Well, thanks for buying me and my friend's drinks." He states.
You smile softly and nod your head.
"Thank you for helping me escape that horrific sex story." You say before stepping towards the counter, grabbing your two drinks. "I'll see you around the city."
"Sounds good. You try to avoid those weird dates, alright?" Taehyung jokes. You let out a gentle laugh before lifting the drinks. You walk towards the exit and give him a last smile. He gives you a quick wave before glancing at the counter, grabbing his own drinks.
As you step outside, you see the motorcycle sitting directly in front of the entrance of the coffee shop.
So, that's the motorcycle he drives.
You grin before leaving the area to head back to your dorm.

Now onto the news:
A Russian fighter jet crashed into a home in Siberia (Irkutsk to be exact). Both pilots were killed but no one living in the home was injured at the time. They were doing a test flight when this happened.
Hurricane Roslyn hit Mexico. It is a category 3 hurricane and it's expected to be life threatening and it's expected to cause flooding along the coast. People in Nayarit and Jalisco have set up emergency shelters for families that have been evacuated out of the coast. If anyone reading this has family here, I really hope your families/friends/loved ones are safe.
There was a fire in Tanzania. It happened on Mount Kilimanjaro. There's no public information on how the fire started but they are saying that they do know that there are no casualties as of right now.
Those are the main things that I could find in the world news this week. If anyone has any other news that is important and worth bringing up, please inform me! I grew up not knowing what was going on in the rest of the world and lately I've been realizing how it's not good to be unaware of things happening around the world. So, I'm always open to learning more about things happening in the world.
I hope all of you are doing well. Please make sure you're eating, drinking plenty of water, and getting plenty of sleep. I know the announcement of BTS not being back as a group until 2025 due to Jin enlisting at the end of October is sad. However, as they've said, the best is yet to come.
I'm very proud of our boys for wanting to take the military decision into their own hands instead of waiting for the government to make a decision. It will be a hard 3 years; I know we can make it through it though. I saw fellow ARMY mentioning that if you re-watch a Run BTS episode every single week until you catch up to the current Run BTS episodes, that is enough episodes to last until 2025. I might be doing this just to feel as though they're still here. Also though, they will be doing solo projects it seems. So they aren't really gone; they're just doing their own things which is totally their decision and I'm proud of them.
Try not to be too sad when thinking about 2025. Try to think of it as them prepping for an even better, more creative side of themselves when they get back. (Who knows... maybe they'll even come back with a Louder than Bombs performance to come back with because they know we want a performance of it... I'm praying, I need to hear that song live lol)
I purple you.
Kim 💜
