You're now back at your dorm, sighing to yourself as you think about your friendly conversation at the coffee shop with Taehyung.

Allowing yourself to plop onto your bed, you immediately lay down, facing the ceiling.

You take a few seconds to think about how easy it is to have someone like Taehyung. Someone who's protective of you and wants to keep you safe.

Your silence is interrupted after a few seconds by the sound of your phone going off.

Bad Date Bodyguard: thanks for having coffee with me today, hope it helped you feel better

Tilting your head to the side as you stare down at this text message, you smile before beginning to respond.

Y/N: no, thank you. And yes, I feel better. Thank you

You hit send before setting your phone onto the table near your bed.

"She probably had a date." You hear outside of your door. This causes you to furrow your eyebrows as your head snaps in the direction of your locked door.

Next thing you know, someone's knocking on it.

Groaning, you get off of your bed and walk towards the door. Upon opening it, you're greeted by Sunmi and Seulgi standing there. Seulgi has an eyebrow lifted as she stares over at you while Sunmi has a look of excitement on her face.

"Where were you? You totally ditched us in class today. Everything good?" Seulgi questions before quickly stepping inside of your dorm.

"Come in, I guess." You state before sighing softly.

"Did you have a date?" Sunmi now questions as she steps into your dorm.

"You too, come in!" you sarcastically say before closing the door behind her. You then look back at the two of them. Seulgi is already seated at your desk while Sunmi is examining your outfit.

"She looks like she was on a date. She's not in pajamas." Sunmi tells Seulgi, entirely ignoring your sarcastic remarks. You narrow your eyes at the two.

"Well, were you on a date?" Seulgi questions. "If so, I'll totally forgive you for leaving us alone in class."

"First of all, there's two of you. You can't be alone if there's two of you." You state before shaking your head. "I was with Taehyung."

Seulgi's eyes sparkle with delight upon hearing this.

"Taehyung?" she immediately questions, causing you to roll your eyes.

"Yes."

"And how exactly did that happen?" She questions.

"Yeah, spill." Sunmi states.

"I tried asking Lucas out." Seulgi's eyes widen upon hearing this. Sunmi merely smiles proudly in your direction. "He already has a date to the party." Sunmi's smile transforms into a frown within seconds.

"What? How could he already have a date?"

"Yuqi?" Seulgi questions, causing you and Sunmi to look in her direction.

"How'd you know it was Yuqi?" you interrogate.

"I heard some rumors about her liking him." She states. "I assumed they were rumors but I guess they're true." She says. "But don't try to change the subject. How did that lead to you hanging with Taehyung?" she says while pointing at you.

"Well, when he said he already had a date, I got embarrassed and called Taehyung." You say while scratching the back of your neck. "And he felt bad that I had gotten rejected and had four bad dates. So, he offered to take me to get some coffee."

"So, a date." Sunmi states.

"Well, yes, but-"

"No 'buts,' a date is a date." Seulgi states.

"He specifically said 'as a friend.'" You respond while shaking your head. "He just felt bad and wanted me to have a good date to make up for the most recent shitshow dates." The two exchange looks before looking over at you.

Seulgi has a smirk present on her face while Sunmi is pressing her lips together to avoid smiling. However, you can see the excitement in her eyes.

"He likes you." Seulgi says for the two of them. Sunmi merely nods.

You scoff before stepping towards your closet to grab a fresh pair of pajamas.

"Yeah, as a friend. He just wants to make sure I'm safe."

"Then explain why he always uses the 'I'm her boyfriend' lie to get you out of those bad dates." Sunmi states. Seulgi nods in agreement.

"He easily could say 'I'm her brother, fuck off.'" Seulgi states. "Him pretending to be your brother would be just as effective." Sunmi nods in agreement.

"Exactly. So, why would he always go to the boyfriend lie?" You shrug your shoulders.

"Probably the first thing he can think of. I always usually catch him off guard with these bad dates." You respond. The two merely laugh before looking at each other.

"It'll hit her one day." Seulgi states before looking over at you. "Anyways, we want more details. How was the coffee date." She states.

"As friends." Sunmi mocks you, adding onto Seulgi's statement. You sigh at their attitudes before speaking.

"It was good. We split a cinnamon roll, I got to know more about him, he got to know more about me. That's literally all." You say before laying the clean pair of pajamas on your bed.

The two look at each other before looking back at you.

"Okay." Seulgi states, a knowing look on her face. You let out a soft sigh before shaking your head.

"I get it, you two think it was a date but he literally said the word 'friends,' okay?" you state. Seulgi merely tilts her head to the side as she stares over at you. Defeated, she looks over at Sunmi for backup. The two make eye contact before Sunmi speaks up.

"Alright, so if you two are friends, why don't you ask him to take you to the party?" Sunmi suggests. "No commitment for you in case Lucas does become available, he's someone you're comfortable with, and he's totally cute." She states. You tilt your head to the side as she says this.

Biting onto your lower lip as you contemplate, you look over at Seulgi and see her grinning at you. The grin gives you a bad feeling so you look back at Sunmi. Sunmi merely looks at you.

"If I were to ask him, it would have to be after I hang out with him a little more." You state. The two look at each other before Seulgi nods.

"Y/N has a good point with that one." She shrugs a shoulder. "The only time she's spent with him other than him saving her ass from those bad dates was tonight." You nod before looking over at Sunmi.

"There was one time we went on another motorcycle ride and I met his roommate." You state. "But yeah, we haven't had much time together other than that."

"Okay, then hang out with him a few more times then ask." She states.

"The party is coming up pretty soon though, so you might want to jump on that." You nod and sigh.

"Trust me, I won't hold off on this." You state before picking up the pajamas that are on the bed. After doing this, you walk towards the bathroom door. "Alright, I'm going to get dressed really quickly." You state before walking into the bathroom.

While you're in the bathroom, Sunmi and Seulgi give each other a look.

"There's no way this is going to end well." Seulgi states.

"Not for her and Lucas." Sunmi agrees while staring at the closed bathroom door. "But for her and Taehyung? This will definitely end well."

The two sneakily grin at one another before giving each other a high-five.

It's now class the next day and you're on your phone as you wait for the professor to walk in.

You smile down at your phone as you see your last text message to Taehyung.

Biting onto your lower lip, your thumbs begin typing once more.

Y/N: I'd like to request your bad date bodyguard services for tonight.

As you're staring at your phone, you don't notice Lucas walking into the classroom. He looks over at you, seeing you on your phone and smiles to himself. He then approaches where you're sitting, staring down at you. He licks his lips while staring down at you.

"Hey, Y/N." He says. You merely wave him off as you see that Taehyung is typing.

Staring down at your screen, you hold your phone with one hand. Your other hand is near your mouth as you nervously bite onto the nail of your thumb.

Lucas furrows his eyebrows while staring down at you. Once he sees that you're ignoring him, he lets out a soft cough before speaking up again.

"Y/N?" he asks. You let out a sigh before looking up at him, impatient as you grow eager for Taehyung's response.

"What's up?"

"I said 'hi.'" He states, causing you to wave your hand up at him.

"Well, hi." You say before looking back down at your phone. He then stares down at you, confused as to why you're not giving the normal attention you give him. Walking away from you, he does one last double take, still taken aback by your reaction.

You, however, are still distracted by your phone.

Taehyung stopped typing since you looked up at Lucas.

When you get ready to lock your phone, he responds.

Bad Date Bodyguard: Already know ahead of time that it's a bad date?

You smile while biting onto your lower lip, laughing softly.

Y/N: I don't, just figured I'd ask ahead of time in case it happens to be bad

Bad Date Bodyguard: I'm free. What time do you need your bodyguard?

Y/N: 4PM

Bad Date Bodyguard: Works for me. Just give me the details on where it is when you can

Y/N: Will do, thanks!

You smile to yourself as you grow excited for tonight. You then lock your phone and look up to the front of the classroom.

You're caught off guard by Seulgi and Sunmi staring down at you with wide smiles on their faces.

"What's the smile for?" Seulgi questions. Sunmi merely grins down at you. You eye them both before shaking your head.

"Just texted Taehyung about tonight. I figured I'd ask him to hangout now and not put it off."

"Oh, okay." Sunmi states before stepping towards your side. She sits next to you while Seulgi sits on the other side of you. "Hey, did you realize who said 'hi' to you a few seconds ago?" she questions.

"Yeah, Lucas." You say before looking at your lock screen to see if Taehyung answered again.

The two women exchange looks with one another.

"And you weren't excited about that?" Sunmi questions. You look at her before putting your phone away.

"He says that to me every day. What makes it different today?" you question before taking your laptop out to get ready for class.

Seulgi bites onto her lower lip before looking over at Sunmi. Sunmi has a wide smile on her face already. Seulgi signals for her to be quiet before smiling as well as the two drop the subject and look to the front of the lecture hall.

Meanwhile, from a distance, Lucas is staring over at you. His eyebrows are furrowed as he bites on the bottom part of his pen.

Happy new year everyone! I hope all of you have an incredible 2023 and I cannot wait for the things that this year is going to bring.

I'm so proud of Hobi for his NYE performance. He did so well and I hope he realizes how proud all of us are of him.
