"So, what do you do? Are you in university too or are you already working?" you ask Hyunjin while poking at your food. He smiles over at you before glancing up as he takes a moment to think.

"Well, I'm currently in my last year of university." He states before taking a bite of his food. He then takes a few seconds to finish chewing and swallowing his food. "I already have a job offer for a financial analyst position once I graduate after this last year of uni. Your profile mentioned you're also in uni. What are you majoring in?" he questions.

You're in the middle of swallowing your food when he asks. One word in the last sentence that he says catches your attention. This causes you to clear your throat, taking a sip of water before you respond.

"I'm sorry... did you say profile?" you question.

"Yeah, your dating profile?" he states, confused as to why you'd be in shock about this. You take a deep breath before letting out a laugh.

"Ah, I see." You respond. "I didn't make that dating profile; my friend did. I thought you were a mutual friend of hers."

"Oh, I see. I was wondering why you were a bit confused." He states.

"But to answer your question, I'm majoring in architecture." You state. This causes him to raise his eyebrows.

"Ah, really? That's interesting. So, you know how to make sure a building is sturdy and safe to be in?" you nod your head.

"Yeah, my architecture program also includes interior design as well so I've had to design rooms as a final project." You say while smiling.

"That's very impressive." He states before nodding his head, taking a sip of his drink.

"Thank you." You say while giving him a small smile. You then take another bite of your food before looking up at him again. "So, what made you create your dating profile?" you question.

"Ah, I'm honestly just trying to get back out there." He states before shrugging his shoulders. "I haven't been on a date in a while so I wanted to get back into the dating game. Do you know why your friend created your dating profile?" he questions. You let out a soft sigh before rolling your eyes as he mentions Seulgi.

"Well, my friend Seulgi wants me to take a date to this university party coming up." You state before taking a sip of your water again. "I guess she just figured a dating profile would be the easiest way to find a date."

He nods his head.

"I could see that. Maybe she preferred that you go on a date with someone new." He states. "After all, if you went to a party with someone and they're a mutual friend of hers, maybe it would be harder to get to know that person because they'd want to talk to Seulgi too?" You nod.

"That could be it." You say before glancing up as the waitress approaches.

"Hi! Are you two finished with your dishes?" she questions while gesturing towards your plates. You nod your head and thank her as she grabs your plate. Hyunjin nods his head as well, letting her take it before leaning back in his seat. "Would you two like some dessert?"

Hyunjin looks over at you, silently asking you with eye contact. You shrug your shoulder before speaking up.

"Uh... sure. Why not?" you say while smiling over at him.

You like him already. He's sweet, understanding, and he's a good conversationalist. You don't mind having dessert with him too.

"Which dessert would you two like?" she questions.

"Is the carrot cake good for you, Y/N? We could each get a slice or split it if you like." he questions. You nod your head and grin.

"Uh, I don't think there'd be any left for you if we tried splitting it." You say while laughing. "I have quite the sweet tooth. So, we'll take two slices, please." You state while looking up at the waitress. She nods her head and writes it down.

"Sounds good. I'll have that out for you in a few minutes." She states before stepping away from your table. Hyunjin smiles over at you before he bites onto his lower lip.

You both are trying to think of a topic to talk about.

As you two are thinking, the sound of an engine revving causes you to lose your train of thought. You let out a scoff at the sound of the loud car. You then look over at Hyunjin, who also seems to have lost his own train of thought.

"Don't you hate those people who drive like that?" you question before glancing in the direction of the noise. "Like, you're driving on a crowded street where you see people crossing the street and yet you rev your engine like that?"

Hyunjin nods his head before letting out a laugh.

"Yeah, if you ask me, it's like they're using the loud engine noises to compensate for the lack of loud noises they can get their partner to make in the bedroom." While he says this, you're in the middle of drinking your water. The water ends up going down the wrong tube and you end up coughing, accidentally inhaling the water. "Oh my gosh! Are you okay?" you nod your head and continue coughing while simultaneously laughing in between the shallow breaths you're taking.

"Yeah, I'm-I'm good." You say before letting out one last cough. "That just made me laugh so hard, I ended up choking on the water." He laughs softly while looking over at you.

"Well, I'm glad I can make you laugh. You have a cute laugh." You smile over at him as he says this.

It gets quiet again for a few seconds.

You can't think of any other topics so you immediately go back to the one you two were talking about before you ended up choking.

"But yeah, you're right. The people who drive like that are definitely trying to make up for everything else they're lacking in." you respond.

"What pissed me off about it too is how we're in the middle of a quiet date and the noise of it totally killed the vibe." Hyunjin responds. You nod in agreement.

"Right? And when they drive like that by your dorm room? How do they not realize that people are trying to sleep or study for their exams?" Hyunjin laughs before taking a sip of his water.

"Probably because not everyone in university studies, unfortunately." He laughs. "You seem like a really smart, responsible student but I guarantee you, not everyone is like that."

While you two rant about careless drivers, you see a man walking into the restaurant. He's wearing a pair of black jeans, a graphic t-shirt, and a bomber jacket. He's holding a motorcycle helmet in his hand as he approaches the area where the restaurant host is.

You glance over at him, taking note of how attractive he is before looking back at Hyunjin.

"I guess you're right. Some people drive recklessly and party recklessly at university because not everyone takes it seriously. If you ask me though, I'm there to study." He lets out a soft laugh.

"I wish I could say the same. Don't get me wrong. I'm like you now but during my first two years of university, I definitely wasn't like that." He states before laughing softly.

"Oh, yeah?" you question. He nods. "What were you like during those first two years? Were you one of the cute guys in a fraternity house, throwing up outside of the building because of how much you drank?" you tease. He immediately places his hand on his chest, showing an offended expression.

"Are you saying I used to be a cute guy?" he teases back. "But yeah, pretty much. I could literally tell you a story about one of my worst nights, if you'd like to hear it."

"Sure." You state before the waitress steps over with the two slices of carrot cake. She sets them on the table before stepping away from the table to get your bill.

"So, one time, we were having a party at the fraternity house, right? I'm drinking some beers and I don't have the best tolerance, which is why I'm sober now." He states before taking a sip of his drink. "But at the time, I was talking to a girl, trying to make a move on her and I'm about three beers in. I make a move on her and she's just as tipsy as I am, if not more."

"Alright." You say, urging for him to continue his story before you take a bite of the carrot cake in front of you.

"So, we get into the bedroom, start fooling around because I obviously wasn't taking anything seriously and just wanted a hookup. We makeout a little and it leads to oral sex, right?"

"As it usually does." You agree before taking another bite of your cake. You look over in the direction of the host table and see that the motorcycle guy is still standing there, eyes staring in your direction. You furrow your eyebrows for a second before shaking your head and looking back at Hyunjin, ready to laugh at his story.

"And when we're doing oral, I start doing my thing, you know, tasting her, and man, I've never been so disgusted in my life." He starts. You immediately pause your eating, not expecting the story to go in this direction. "While I'm tasting her, I just taste straight up metal."

"Oh?" you ask, now setting your fork down, no longer having an appetite.

"She was so drunk that she forgot she was on her... you know."

Your mind immediately blanks.

You're disgusted and no longer want to be here.

What kind of weirdo tells you something like this on a first date, let alone when you're in the middle of a meal? This is the one thing you were afraid of the minute he mentioned that you had a dating profile.

You just knew you'd meet some weirdo who has a weird fetish, is a murderer, or has no understanding of social cues.

You ended up with the latter.

Your mind wanders as he continues talking about the gruesome details. You're now thinking of a way to get out of this date. Any excuse you can have, you're going to take it.

Do you pretend to get an emergency text? Do you excuse yourself to go to the bathroom and just leave and not come back? Do you-

"Excuse me?" you hear a deep voice near you, interrupting your thoughts and Hyunjin's story that you're no longer listening to. "Do you think you could just go on a date to piss me off when we literally got in a fight an hour ago?" the motorcycle man asks you as he stares down at you.

You furrow your eyebrows, confused for a second before it hits you: he's giving you an escape. A realistic escape.

You gulp and stare up at him.

"Whoa, you're in a relationship?" Hyunjin immediately questions.

"You broke up with me an hour ago!" you yell up at the man who merely shakes his head down at you.

"I never broke up with you. I said I needed to go for a drive, pick up some of my favorite food from here, and be alone for a while. That doesn't mean you can go on a date with some random dude in front of me to piss me off." The man fake scolds you. Hyunjin's eyes go wide and he immediately stands up, holding his hands up defensively.

"Listen, man. I'm so sorry. I had no idea she was taken. She said her friend made a dating profile to find her a date for some party." Hyunjin immediately says.

"Just get out of here and leave my girl alone." The handsome man says, causing Hyunjin to nod his head and leave. The man watches him leave before a small smirk finds its way on his face.

"Um... thanks." You say, causing him to look back at you. He shrugs before tucking his motorcycle helmet under his arm.

"No problem." He responds before letting out a soft sigh. "I don't think I've ever witnessed a first date that bad." He states.

"Yeah... that was a first for me too." You respond before shaking your head. You set down the proper amount of money on the table to cover the meal before standing up. "Sorry for talking shit about your motorcycle, by the way. The engine noise can be a little irritating but maybe that should've been a sign that this date wasn't going to end well." He laughs softly as you say this.

"Nah, it's not a big deal." He states before taking a deep breath. "Anyway, have a great rest of your night." He states. This causes you to nod your head before you respond.

"Thanks, you too..." you drift off, subtly asking for his name.

"Van Gogh." He responds sarcastically. You roll your eyes.

"There's no way that that's your real name. At least let me thank you properly, don't be a jerk." You state. He remains quiet which causes you to question... is that really his name? "Wait... that's not really your name, is it?" This causes him to chuckle, smiling a wide boxy smile as he shakes his head.

"Wow, you're gullible." he responds. "No, it's not. Don't worry about it. You've already thanked me."

You open your mouth to say something until you hear a new voice echoing in your direction.

"Ah, there he is! Hyung, over here!" another man yells towards the motorcycle guy. He nods his head before giving you a small grin and making his way towards that direction, leaving you by yourself.

You watch him walk away before making your way out of the restaurant and towards your car.
