Chapter 36.

~•Dylan's P.O.V•~

Ding!

The elevator opened and we both walked out.  I had changed my clothes, and I brought along mom's homemade perfect Tostada, while Jaxton came with a bouquet of flowers, rose actually.

I walked with Jaxton to the receptionist, she seemed to know him well. They talked for a short while, while I kept looking around. I gulped nervously as I held the Tostada we had brought for Astrid, I should have just stayed home. I had completely forgotten that Astrid stayed in a hospital for some reason, the place I dreaded and hated.

This  was the same floor I was admitted in after the  Vaughn  episode and now, I'm back here. What if there's a trapped ghost in here who keeps haunting the patients, or feeds from them and is waiting for that one person to come in so they can possess him, and follow him home? That should be me but they wouldn't have the balls.

"Hey, you okay?" Jaxton questioned, concerned.

I looked back at Jaxton, and just smiled.

"Of course."

"You know you didn't have to come." He said softly, as if already getting the hint.

"I wanted to come okay, I might be giving it a second thought right now, but," I looked around again, with a soured expression. "I'm fine, and I told you already, I do want to see Astrid and I'm gonna see her. Don't worry about me. We should go see her before this gets cold."  I rose the bag that had the food in it, up a little.

Jaxton smiled warmly, and nodded. "Okay, room 303, It's this way." He said as he led the way. I just gave him a nod, and as he walked, I followed closely. I found myself looking at the numbers, impatiently waiting for the door with the number 303.

Room 299

Room 300

Room 301

Room 302.

"Ha! We're here." I grinned and looked at Jaxton.

"Yeah, and I've been standing here for few seconds while you kept reading the room numbers out loud, like you were about to save someone from having his soul taken by Lucifer."

"I read it out loud? I swear I thought it was just in my head, and besides you know how much I hate hospitals. Now can we go in or do we have to wait for you to die first?"

Jaxton muttered something and sighed, before opening the door with a smile. I followed him in and closed the door  behind me gently, also fixing a smile.

There was a woman laying down on the hospital bed whom I assume is Astrid, and a little girl with blonde hair. She was wearing a black dress and some boots, reading from a book.  The particular words she was saying right now were very familiar, and I tried to remember where I saw it or heard it.

I knocked on the door softly, interrupting the girl and they both looked at our direction.

"Oh, Jaxton." Astrid smiled widely. "You're here again."

"Hi." Jaxton walked up to her and kissed her on the cheek, while she did the same.  "Well, look what I got you." He said and showed her the flowers.

Astrid's face softened. "You really are such a sweetheart. You didn't have to."

"Well, I wanted to." He smiled, and began putting it in a vase.

"Thank you so much, Jaxton." She smiled warmly, and then her eyes met mine, and I quickly fixed a smile. "A friend of Jaxton's, I presume?"

"Uh, yeah." I nodded. "Hi."

"He's the one I told you I lived with." Jax explained as he fixed the flowers.

"Oh, the best friend, roommate and saviour."

Oh, she already knows a lot.

"I wouldn't say saviour."

"Well, don't just stand there, come give me a hug." Astrid said and I nodded.

"Of course." I walked over to her, leaned and hugged her.

"Oh, thank you for being there for Jaxton."

"He's my best friend." I smiled as I pulled away. "Someone has to watch this dummy."

Astrid laughed. "I think I might like this one."

I could tell that this was cancer, her eyes were weak, she looked super tired and her voice was a little tired as well. She was wearing a scarf, and as exhausted as she looked, her blue eyes still sparkled.

"I like your hair." The girl who sat on a chair, close to the woman said, making me look at her. "Why is it white? Did you dye it?"

I shook my head. "Nope. My family are vampires and so some of us just happened to have white hair."

"Don't listen to him, but yes, it's very original." Jaxton said and stood beside me.

"That's cool." The girl said. Her eyes sparkled like Astrid's.

"Your daughter?" I questioned.

"Yes." Astrid nodded. "This is Meghan."

"With an H." Meghan added.

"Well, hi, Meghan with an H."

"And I'm Jaxton," Jax waved, smiling. "Dominic has mentioned you, but I don't think we have ever met."

"Oh, you're Jaxton. You're really handsome."  Meghan complimented, grinning widely. She looked so innocent and cute.

"Aw, thank you, Meghan. You're beautiful too." He smiled at her.

"I smell food." Meg said and looked at me.

"Oh yeah, I brought one of mom's awesome, homemade Mexican dish for your mom." I said and took the flask out of the bag.

"Mexican dish?" Meg gasped.

"You didn't have to." Astrid smiled.

"It was gonna be my first time seeing you, and mom made enough, so I thought why not bring some with me." I said and passed the food to Jaxton.

"You're really a sweetheart."

I smiled. "I like to think so too, occasionally."

***

Jaxton and Astrid got into a long conversation, and I felt a little bored actually. I was just here, sitting and doing nothing, she had eaten the Tostada and had enjoyed it, she kept complimenting it at every bite she had, and it was nice watching her.

I yawned and looked at Meg who also looked bored. "Hey."

She tilted her head to look at me. "Hey."

"The book you were reading earlier, it's Dark Vision, isn't it?"

"How'd you know?" Meg looked stunned at my guess.

"I've read that book like three times."

"Really?"

I nodded. "Yup! It's super awesome. How did you even know about this book? You're like nine, and there are things in that book that nine year olds shouldn't be reading."

"I'm eleven."

"But you don't have any superpowers do you?"

"W-What?"

"Never mind. Its still the same thing, there are make out scenes and sexual things in there."

"I have seen all seasons of Spartacus." She said with a straight face.

I was shook, my brows flew up at her response.

"Who in the world let you?"

"Does it matter?"

"If an eleven year old watched a movie that was made as an excuse to add multiple porn in it? Of course not, It doesn't matter." I sarcastically replied.

"It's a TV series." Meg corrected.

"Are you seriously correcting me right now?"

"You called it a movie, besides it's super interesting. I mean the porns made it more fun to watch, but yeah. It was a good show." She shrugged.

"Damn, girl. You're like that?"

"It doesn't matter. So tell me, how does it end? The book I mean." She changed the topic. "Does Gabriel end up with Katherine,  or does Rob end up with her?" Her voice became that of disappointment, once she mentioned Rob's name.

"Well that'd be like a huge spoiler."

"True."

"We are not done talking about Spartacus, I know what you're tryna do, but, we'll talk about it later."

Meg smiled.  "Okay."

"What are you both whispering about?" Astrid asked. We both looked away from each other and at Astrid.

"Nothing." Megan and I chorused.

"Yeah sure, that's really convincing." Astrid said sarcastically, while pointing at our faces. I didn't even realize we had been whispering the entire time, but we just chuckled after Astrid's point.

"Okay, I'm bored." Meg said and stood up. "I'm gonna go on a walk."

"By yourself?" Jaxton asked.

"I'll go with her." I volunteered. "We're.....bonding." I shrugged.

"Oh, you sure? You know you have a—"

"Jaxton blabber mouth, I'll be fine, don't you worry." I stopped him from going further, knowing what he was hinting at.  My phobia for hospitals.

"Alright then." He rose his hands up in surrender. "Meet us back here, we'll leave in thirty minutes."

"Yes , boss." I said and saluted before walking away with Meghan. I gently closed the door as we got out and sighed heavily.

"And to have thought you were so innocent, when I walked in." I furrowed my brows.

"Are we still on that Spartacus thing?" Meghan groaned. "Dominic asked me to behave myself, when Jaxton shows up, so don't say anything."

"Well newsflash, Jaxton told me to behave as well."

Meghan giggled, as we both walked. .

"Dominic? Is that your dad?"

"Older brother. My dad's a douche, he's not around anyways."

I understood what she meant and nodded. "Well, you've got your mom."

"I don't want her to go away." Meg said and turned, looking up at me.

"Your mom not going anywhere."

You sure, Dylan?

"What if she does? I cannot live without her." Her eyes held sadness. The poor girl was scared her mother wouldn't make it.

"Hey, Hey." I squatted, placing my hands on her shoulders. "She loves you guys, and she's trying really hard to survive. She's fighting to stay with you, Just be there for your mom and make sure you show her how much she means to you."

Meghan nodded slowly, and tucked her blonde hair behind her ear.

"Come here." I pulled her into a tight hug to comfort her.  "It's all okay." I said while I patted her back gently.

"Meghan?" A voice called and we both pulled away, turning to the voice. There was a guy looking at us, he was my height...kinda. He had a blonde buzz cut and his eyes sparkled, he was wearing a green hoodie and blue jeans. He was stunning actually, like really cute.

"Hey, what's wrong? Are you okay?" The guy asked as he marched towards us .

"I'm fine, Dominic." Meghan sighed.

Ooooh. So. this is Dominic.

"You were crying." Dominic said as he knelt down to look at her clearly. "Did this man hurt you?"

I frowned.

"I'm not a baby, people are starting to stare. I'm fine, seriously." Meg groaned. "I just had a moment."

Wow, she's good.

Dominic chuckled. "Always acting like a grown up."

"This is Dylan, your Jaxton's friend."

"Oh! Hi!, uh...I'm Dominic." He chuckled.

"He knows that." Megan said, and I nodded.

"And I am not an organ harvester." I replied.

"Sorry, I didn't mean-"

"It's fine, Dominos."

"You're the bitch-slapper." Dominic smiled.

"Excuse me?" My brows arched.

"Uh, Jaxton told me about your...little fight, after you left your hand print on his face. I'm glad you guys sorted it out." He thrusted his hand out, laughing. "I've heard so much about you."

"Oh, and I've heard nothing about you." I shook him.

"Oh." He blinked. "He didn't.....mention me? Like...not once?" He asked as he pulled his hand back.

"I'm not sure." I shook my head.

"Ah well."

And then I saw it, right before he looked down and faked that smile. A hint of sadness in his eyes or something like that.

Wait a sec...

"Dominic?"

I turned and saw Jaxton, his face quickly lit up. Jaxton had a big smile on his face as he walked to us.

"Hey." Dominic's face lit up as well, he had the biggest smile. I just stayed in the middle and watched their faces, as they stood in front of each other. "Uh..you came."

"Of course." Jax chuckled. "I told you I would be here today."

"That's cool."

"Oh, and you have met my best friend, Dylan?"

"Yeah, he has." I said, furrowing my brows, while nodding slowly as I looked at him. I couldn't hide my smile right now.

"Yeah." Dominic chuckled.

"Well, where the heck have you been? We've been here for like an hour and you weren't in sight."

"I work, remember?" Dominic said, cocking his brows

Jax slapped his forehead, lightly. "I forgot, sorry."

"It's fine." He chuckled.

"Well what's in the bag?" Jaxton asked and pointed at the white bag Dominic was holding.

"Uh, I got some fruits for mom." He said as he looked into the bag. "And...some snicker bars for someone." Dominic smirked.

Jax gasped. "You are one of the reasons I'm still sane." Jax said and walked over to him, he was about to put his hand into the bag, when Dominic closed it.

Jax pouted. "What was that for?"

"I didn't get a proper welcome, I'm reporting you to ma."

"W-WHAT?" Jaxton voice became pitched.

Dominic smiled and looked at me. "I'll see you inside, Yeah?"

"S-Sure." I nodded, smiling.

"You too." He looked at Meghan .

She nodded.

"Dominic, can I have my snicker b-"

"No." He said with a smile and walked towards room 303, while Jaxton followed.

"Meghan?" I called, my eyes still fixed on the duo.

"Yeah?" She looked up at me.

"How often does Dominic talk about Jaxton?" I asked, and looked down at her.

"Every time he is given a chance." She sighed. "Every time he comes from the hospital, he has a story to tell about his day at the hospital...with Jaxton in it of course."

I smirked.

Just as I thought.

"I guess they're super close." Meghan smiled.

I chuckled. "They sure are close as hell. Why don't we go back inside and sit with them? What say you?"

"Fine by me." She shrugged.

I needed to be sure about this.

"Come on." I said and walked back in, with her by my side.

***

"Oh My God, you're such a liar." Jaxton laughed.

"No, I'm not. That's how it happened, you know it." Dominic retorted, while smiling.

"You so know the saying in the bible, all liars will go to hell isn't just written for writing sake right? You will go to hell for lying. I was there remember?" Jaxton couldn't stop laughing.

"I don't even know who is lying." Astrid chuckled.

"Ma, he is." Dominic whined. "Okay let's say-"

I just watched, smiling. The boys went into a long argument and Astrid kept laughing, even Megan was also talking.  I just watched, call me whatever you want, but I was busy putting my pieces together.

Dominic kept laughing at whatever Jaxton was saying, he couldn't stop smiling at him, and he looked happy. Dominic did like Jaxton, oh my freaking wane. This guy does like my best friend.

"What do you think, Dylan?" Jaxton. asked. I looked up once I heard my name, blinking into reality since all their voices were on mute in my head.

"Uh.." Shit. I wasn't listening. "Sure." I smiled.

They all exchanged looks and burst into laughter.

Shit, I messed up.

"Okay fine, I wasn't listening." I groaned.

"What were you thinking about?" Astrid chuckled.

How your son likes my best friend, duh.

"Uh...it's complicated." I chuckled.

"So tell me, how long have you and Jax been friends."

Oooh, so it's Jax now huh?

"Since I moved here, it's been months now." I answered with a smile.

"Our first meeting, we actually argued about which was better. DC or Marvel." Jaxton said with a big grin.

I huffed at the memory. "Can you believe this guy actually likes Marvel and all their superheroes?"

"Marvel? No way." Dominic shook his head and my eyes widen.

"Please tell me you're not a DC fan." Jaxton sighed.

"Hell Yeah I am."

"YES!" I yelled, stood up and clapped my hands once, making them all look at me. "Sorry, I got to excited." I lowered my voice and sat back down.

They all laughed.

"I totally understand you." Dominic said. "You see, the only superheros I like in marvel is, well for starters, every superhero in X-men."

I grinned. "And Scarlett witch." I added, making him look at me.

"And Deadpool."

"I love that guy." I said in a loud whisper. "And let's not forget-"

"Black panther." He finished up smiling. "The rest are wack."

"This guy is freaking awesome." I said in a high pitch tone and grinned widely, making him and Astrid laugh.

"You guys are unbelievable and so lame." Jaxton grumbled.

"Wait, which of them has wonder woman and that hot guy playing Superman in it?" Meghan asked.

"It's DC." I replied, and she smiled.

"I'm sticking with that then."

"Not you too Meg." Jaxton whined.

"I always liked hulk though." Astrid said and I shook my head.

"Mmhmm, of course you do." I smirked.

"Dylan, mind out of the gutter." Jaxton said and everyone laughed.

"I didn't say anything bad."

"He's cool." Astrid chuckled.

"He's boring and stupid." I added.

"He's awesome, shut up." Jaxton threw a pillow at me, but I caught it before it could hit me.

"Did you just try to ruin this godly face?"

"You're so full of yourself." He laughed.

"It is actually godly." Megan agreed, and I smiled at her.

"I like her. Can I keep her?"

"Not happening." Dominic chuckled.

"How can you like Wonder woman? She's super lame."

"She's a god." Dominic, Megan and I said at the exact same time as if we had rehearsed it.

"T-That doesn't mean anything." He folded his arms. "Thor is also a god."

"Shut up." I said and threw the pillow at him, he didn't see that coming and it hit him in the face.

"Ow! You son of a-" he looked at Megan and didn't complete it.

"It's not like I haven't heard the word bitch before." Meghan shrugged.

"MEGHAN!" Astrid called out, eyes wide.

"I love you mommy." She smiled.

Astrid tilted her head and looked at Dominic.

"Ma, it's not me I swear." He said, raising his hands.

We all laughed.

We talked for hours, arguing and all and it was actually fun being here, I had totally forgotten I was at a hospital, the place that I'd never want to be in while conscious for five minutes, cause I can't stand it but I didn't even care about that right now. I was totally having fun with Jaxton, Astrid and her kids. Jaxton said we were gonna leave in thirty minutes earlier, and we ended up staying for another two hours.

So you know, our argument lasted for more than an hour, and I still don't understand how we went from thrashing superheroes to Disney world slash cartoons.

"Alright, we have to go now." Jaxton announced.

"Aw why?" I whined. Meghan and I were currently doing the stare contest, and I just looked away.

"Ha, I win." She grinned.

"Jaxton distracted me." I complained.

"Doesn't matter." She stuck her tongue out at me.

"Aren't you an eleven year old?"

She gasped. "I know what you just did."

I smiled at her. "Perfect then."

"Tomorrow's Friday and there's a game at our school."

"There is?" I asked with a confused frown.

"Do you ever pay attention to anything I say that has to do with school activities?" Jaxton asked, giving me a bored look.

I pretended to think about it for a second. "Nope." I shook my head.

"I've mentioned this a lot of times already and even Christian did. There's a game tomorrow night and we're not done with the posters for The panthers ." He sighed.

"You do realize it's almost eight right?" Dominic arched his brows at him. "Don't tell me you're going back to school."

"No, I'm not. Chill, I have friends and we're gonna meet up at the library." He said while texting on his phone. "I'm already late."

"Well, it was fun." I shrugged at Meghan.

"We'll see you again, right?" She asked as she pushed her hair back, totally reminding me of Raven.

"Yeah, it was totally fun with you here, arguing and making us laugh about stupid things." Dominic said while laughing.

They were stupid.

"I underestimated you a little, you are super fun. You'll be back right?" Astrid asked, smiling.

I placed my hand on my chest and put on a sad face, as if I was gonna cry.
"I am so touched, guys. Yes. I'll be back, I promise." I smiled.

"Yes!!" Megan grinned happily, exclaiming like she won something.

"Okay, I'll see you later." I said, still smiling at her. "And remember, what I told you earlier." I whispered to her.

"Thank you." She hugged me.

"Take care of yourself." I hugged her back and then stood up. "I'll see you later Astrid. It was nice hanging with you all i must say. I never thought it was gonna be possible, considering I'm in a hospital."

"Ah, your phobia for hospitals." Dominic tsked.

I gave Jaxton a look that screamed. 'Are you kidding me? What did you not tell him?'

'Sorry' His eyes spoke, as he bit his lower lip.

"Adiós people." I said as I exited the room, waving at them. Jaxton and Dominic came out afterwards.

"I'll drop you off." Dominic volunteered.

"N-No. There's no need to, stay with Megan and your mom. We'll be fine." Jaxton assured him.

"We will not fine." I gave him a smile.

"Okay, uh..call me when you get home, alright."

"Yes. Yes." Jaxton sighed. "I will, Dad."

Did Jaxton just dad-zone him?

Or wait...like....daddy?

Dominic laughed. "Alright. Bye"

"Bye." Jaxton smiled and walked towards me.

"Later Dom." I frowned. "That sounded...."

"Dirty, yeah." He chuckled. "Goodnight Dylan."

I just flashed him a smile and walked with Jaxton to the elevator, Dominic didn't leave till we were out of sight. I checked with my cellphone, keeping it upward.

I smiled.

He does have a crush on our boy.

***

I had waited for Jaxton to return from his group thing. It was almost nine thirty, when he returned. I heard voices downstairs and then laughter, and later on footsteps, and his door closed.

I stood up rapidly, pushing the sheets off me and dashed out of my room, and to his. "Jaxton!" I called once I entered his room, making him gasp in fear not, I shut the door behind me gently.

"Jesus. You fucking scared me, Dylan. Knock next time." He said while clutching his chest.

"Sorry." I said, while smiling.

A frown appeared on his face. "Why do you have that creepy smile on?"

I instantly stopped smiling.

"Oh My God. Am I gonna die?" He dramatically asked, making me roll my eyes.

"Shut up." I said and sat on his bed.

He just smiled and took off his shirt, changing it.

"So, how was the event thing?"

"You mean the club meeting to make the posters for the school game?"

"Yeah, sure."

"Fun actually."

"People like you love detention." I gave him a disappointed look.

I'm tired Dylan, can you disturb me some other time? Maybe in the morning." He asked as he laid on his bed.

"So, Dominic." I ignored him and a smile appeared on my face.

"What about Dominic?"

"Do you like him back?"

He frowned, the expression on his face was total confusion. "What do you mean?"

I was quiet for a few seconds, watching him and reading his expression. He wasn't aware.

"Oh My God. You don't know." I muttered.

"Know what?"

"That Dominic likes you, I mean like you, like you."

Jaxton snorted into a laughter that seemed to last for hours, and placed a frown at my face, wondering what was funny. "Dominic? Like me, like me? Nice one Dylan." He said and pulled the covers over his legs, still laughing.

"Oh My Lord. You really don't know." I was a little staggered.

"Dylan, Dominic doesn't like me, and I don't like Dominic that way either. We're just friends and that's it. Besides, if he was gay I'd know."

"Of course you would." I sarcastically replied.

"He just feels close to me, the same way I feel close to you." He shrugged. "We're just friends."

Oooh shit.

I faked a smile. "Of course. Ignore whatever I said." I patted his legs. "Goodnight stupid." I stood up and walked out of his room and into mine.

Shit. So Jaxton has no idea that Dominic has a major crush on him. He's totally lost. I'll have to speak to Domini myself.
