DYLAN'S POV
It was dinner time and mom made lasagna. I had been upstairs reading this book I bought back in Seattle.
Dark Vision. It's kinda cool. About a girl who sees the future. Well. Draws it and to learn to control her powers, she goes to an institute where she meets three other kids like her except with different powers of course and one of them will end up being her man. Between Gabriel and Rob.
"So, how was school today?" Mom asked as we ate.
"Great, and oh! You owe me ten bucks by the way."
She frowned. "What? How? What did I promise you?"
"You said no one would stare, everyone did because I'm a hot, white Kaneki." I stated, smirking.
"We didn't bet any money." She said, rolling her eyes.
"Well, who cares?" I shrugged as I ate, frowning at her.
"Anyways, make any new friends today?" She asked, changing topics.
"Yeah, two, or maybe one. I'm not sure if he's my friend but he's in the football team and the other. She's a cheer...no, Head cheerleader." I said and smiled once I remembered her correcting me.
"Oooh," Mom cooed in a flirtatious way. "So, when are you gonna ask her out?"
I coughed, choking for the second time today.
"Honey, are you okay?" She asked as I stared at my plate.
"Mmhmm," I nodded and took a sip of water from my cup. "Well mother, I can't ask her out. She has a boyfriend and we are just friends."
"Yeah and she might be giving you a signal. Steal her away from her boyfriend!"
"Mom! Really?" I shook my head and she laughed.
"Whaaaat?"
I'm very gay! Don't you see the signs?
"You're unbelievable. Besides, I don't even really care. She's not exactly my type anyways. She's a queen bee."
"What's wrong with being a queen bee? I was a queen bee when i was in high-school."
"Yeah, and how did that turn out for you? You had a baby in that same high-school." I flashed her a smile. "I don't really care about friends, all I need is to just get the hell out of high school." I sighed. "And go to college and be done with college, and live life." I sighed.
"Oh, you better be careful what you wish for." Mom chuckled.
"Yeah, no friends."
"But son, high school isn't complete without friends." Dad spoke and I stopped eating suddenly. "You should make friends." I had totally forgotten he was here and now that he had spoken, I was suddenly irritated.
I sighed, ignoring him. When did he even get here?
"Highschool friends who you make bonds with tend to be your safe place as well. I mean, sure some can be assholes, but when you find the right fri—"
"It's my business if I make friends or not, not anyone's and so if it's too hard for anyone to understand that. Then they can go to hell."
Dad swallowed. "Look son, all I'm just saying is if you don't have friends, you'll be—"
"I'll be what?" I cut him off and looked at him furiously "Hmm? I'll be what? Alone?"
"Dylan." Mom called softly.
"No mom, why is he trying to meddle in my business? What does he know about how I feel? About being alone when he—" I swallowed. "Why do you care?"!
"Maybe because I'm your father." He replied, staring right at me, his eyes sad.
"Yeah? And did you just come to terms with it now, or did you forget you were a father before you did what you did."
"Dylan please, not tonight." Mom sighed. "Matt." She called him. "Can we not?"
I chuckled. "I don't wanna have that conversation too either, mom, but he keeps meddling."
"Dylan,"
"Did you think that everything was gonna be fine? That we'd just leave Seattle and I'd forgive you? Did you really think that's how it's gonna work? You stole the one thing that mattered to me the most. You took away my best friend. You separated us. You took that happiness away and here you are. Talking about friends," I scoffed, leaving emphasis. "It's stupid."
"Dylan!" Mom scolded.
"Mom!" I turned to her. "Why did you refuse to wake up? I think you should ask yourself that seeing as you eat on the same table as him, and still kiss him and love him."
"You wouldn't understand, Dylan." She said, softly. "I wish you would. I just wish he would tell—"
Dad quickly held mom's hand and she swallowed back her words.
I scoffed. "Oh, I understand perfectly. And I won't let him brainwash me like he did you."
"Dylan, can we just not, and eat this meal I spent time cooking."
"I lost my appetite, mom." I said and stood up. "It'd be better for both of us if you stop trying to act like you want to know what goes on in my life." I said and walked upstairs to my room. I looked my door and laid on my bed. A sigh escaped my lips, anger boiling inside of me. Who did he think he was. I hate him. After what he did to me years ago, he think it'd just slide? He stole the most precious thing from me. He ruined my life that one night. And it hurt me. It still does and I'm gonna hate him forever for it.
Fuck you.
Cunt.
•••
"Dylan! Dylan!! Get your sleepy ass up!" Mom shouted as she knocked on my door continuously.
I picked up my pillow and covered my ears but she didn't stop knocking.
"DYLAN!"
"I'm Awake, Voldemort!" I yelled back and sat up, scratching the back of my head.
Fuck! Is it a must to go to school?
"Well, get ready for school! You're gonna be late on your second day!" She said and then I heard footsteps fading away.
She's gone.
I sighed and stood up, I took off my shirt and grabbed my towel and headed straight into the bathroom. I was still angry, I had slept with the anger and woke up with it, I am so not in the mood today.
I got out of my room thirty minutes later, putting on a white long sleeve shirt ,black pants and a white canvas. I threw my bag over my shoulder as I walked down the stairs with a blank expression and walked to the kitchen.
Another day of hell.
"Good morning Dylan, glad you finally came downstairs, I was thinking about coming up with a bucket."
"You wouldn't!" I scowled.
"What do you think?"
I groaned. "What's for breakfast?" I questioned.
"Well, come sit." She said and then I saw Dad, looking up at me.
"Good morning, son." He greeted and smiled softly as if everything was suddenly okay.
I rolled my eyes and looked at mom who told me to be calm with her eyes.
"Bye, mom " I said and turned to go.
"Wait, won't you have breakfast?" She asked instantly.
"No, not hungry. Plus I'm full." I said, turning to face her with a forced smile.
"But you didn't eat anything last night?"
"I ate enough bullshit last night, mom." I said flatly as I headed for the door.
"This damn child." She sighed. "Um, wait for me, I will drop you at school."
I nodded. "Kay." I replied and walked out the door.
Now, I know this might come out like I'm being a troublesome kid or that I'm disrespectful or shit like that but don't worry, you'll get to know the whole story soon.
And I promise, I am not being dramatic.
Okay so you might be wondering what kinda job my mother does or how she got a job fast in a week or what my dad does. Anyway. My mom's husband works for some agency. I have no idea what he does since I stopped giving fucks. And my mom? She's a chef. She works at a restaurant. Not those small kind and not those big ones either. Just. Middle class restaurant. You know what I mean. According to mom, before she left she told her boss she was moving away but he was sad until she said to San Diego and he then told her he had a branch here in San Diego. A restaurant here and he'll make a call and tell them that she'd start working there when she moves here. And that way he won't lose anything. My mom's an amazing cook so I know why he still needs her. She said he has some restaurants around the world. But then about four to five. That's he's planning on going extremely big. Mom's words. And she had no idea how gross that sounded. So. That's how she got the job.
•••
"You know, you can't be mad at him forever." She said softly as she drove, after a long drive of silence. We were probably close to school now.
"Mmhmm."
"He's your father."
I looked at her and frowned confused. "Have you already forgotten what he did? How he made you feel? How he made you cry and took away the one thing we loved? You loved. That I loved and adored?"
"No Dylan, I haven't, and I could never forget. But—"
"Wait. Hold up. Have you...forgiven him already?" I asked with a frown and just then she stopped the car with a sigh, right in front of the school.
"Dylan, he's my husband and he's your father and we can't be mad at him forever and I have forgiven him, years ago. Obviously. I mean, I still sleep on the same bed with him. You know how hard it was for me but, breaking this family was definitely not gonna make things better."
"Wow, mother. You might have forgiven him already and forgotten about what he did, but I haven't mom. And I will never forget"
"Sweetie, It's been eight years"
"EXACTLY!! AND IT STILL FUCKING HURTS MOM, IT STILL BURNS. I CANNOT FORGET. AND I WONT. It still feels like it was yesterday that it just happened. Every day that passes by, I remember. And you might have forgiven him but I can't. I won't. I Will never!" I said got out of the car, walking towards the school.
"Dylan! Dylan wait!" She kept calling but I just ignored. I didn't look back. I just put on my headphones and walked in. Close to you by Rihanna began to play, I could not just believe that mom had completely forgiven him.
I opened my locker and looked in, I could feel the tears about to fall. I tried to hold them in, to be strong but I couldn't. I remembered everything like it was yesterday, I looked down, hiding my face in my locker and I just let it out. The tears. It hurt so much.
I felt like I was suffocating, like I couldn't breathe and I needed air. I just couldn't forget.
"Good morning, snow white." A familiar voice greeted.
I flinched, startled by the voice. I instantly wiped off the tears, I'd recognize that voice anywhere. That flirtatious, inner-evil voice. I placed a fake smile on my face and turned to her.
"Good morning, Raven." I beamed and then it hit me "Did you just call me—"
"Snow white?" She finished up. "Yeah, I did." Raven shrugged.
"Really? I went from being the white haired wizard to snow white? Progress," I replied sarcastically and rolled my eyes as I took out some of my textbooks from my bag and put them in my locker. I took out another and closed my locker, with a sigh I turned to her.
"So, what?" I asked as we began to walk. Raven was in her cheerleading uniform and this time, her red hair was in a ponytail.
"White haired wizard?" She questioned.
"Don't even get me started on that, Ginger."
"Okay, snow white."
"I'm gonna start calling you killer frost." I said as we walked.
"Honey, killer frost hair is hmm, I don't know. Oh yeah, white!" She stated and looked at my hair.
Dang it!
"Still, you got the killer personality and your last name is Frost too. And seriously, what is up with that? The last name being Frost? Does your family all have superpower? You can tell me, I promise not to tell anyone. Can you stop someone's heart, there's a man I wanna test your powers on."
"Bitch, the fuck is wrong with you?" She asked and we both chuckled.
"We are gonna be so close," she smiled. "We are already on the nickname base, and on the second day. Ha! Goals."
"Goals?"
"Yeah. Just watch how we gonna turn out to be best friends"
Definitely not that.
"Yeah, right."
"So, how are you? You didn't look like yourself, Dylan. I mean, you seem a little down today, my third eye says you are suffering from something."
Okay. She definitely has some superpower.
"Is it cancer?"
I gave her a look.
"You are one weird being," I scoffed. "I just had a bad night that's all."
"He didn't last in the sheets?"
"Hmm.? What are you...?" And then I understood. "You....bye." I said and she laughed.
"Whaaaat? I just had to know!"
"No, It's not that."
"So, family problem?"
"Yes, that" I said and faked a smile.
"Well don't worry, Raven Killer Frost is here to save the day." She said and I snickered.
"It's gonna be fine, whatever happened at home. It'll be fine. Right now, you're in school. Don't let what happened at home ruin your day, so, smile now." She said and locked her arm with mine like those prom date kinda thing and I just smiled at her. A sincere one.
"Thanks, Killer Frost."
"You're welcome, snow white."
"Okay, no. You gotta change that" I refuse to keep that as a nickname.
She laughed. "What? It fits perfectly."
"Did you know Raven is also a DC super hero?"
"Really?" Her eyes widen. "I didn't know about that. How? What's her power? I haven't read a lot of comics, just the flash and a lot of marvel comics and the DC ones I have read, I haven't seen or heard about Raven."
"Trust me, she's deadly. Just like you"
"Ooh, my kinda girl" she smirked and just then we heard a locker slam. It caught our attention and we saw a kid being shoved to the locker by one of those football players. The same guy from yesterday who Raven had ended with just few words. They were three, all laughing and teasing him. And then one of them began to take off his shorts and that was when I knew I had to do something fast.
"HEY!" I called out and pulled my hand away from Raven's and made my way towards them. "What the hell do you three idiots think you are doing?"
"Oh look, It's grandpa" one of them said and they all began to laugh, he was blond.
"Was that an attempt at some joke because the only joke here is three of you bullying a kid to make you seem superior." I snarled.
"And who the fuck are you?" Blonde asked.
"The new kid." Another boy said, with a stupid smile.
"Why are you bullying your fellow student at this time of the fucking morning?" I folded my arms. "It's not even nine am yet. What? Nothing better to do with your lives?" I questioned.
"I'd advice you to walk away." One of the boys said.
"Let us just mind our own business," Raven said to me and I frowned at her.
"Nuh uh." I said and looked back at the boys. "If he has wronged you in some way then write the problem you have with him in a piece of paper, fold it and maybe shove it up your ass since you three have refused to be mature." I said and flashed them a smile.
The one holding him against the locker scoffed. "Listen here, old man. I would honestly advice you to mind your own damn business and walk away." He had brown hair and black eyes.
"Jesus, Guys. It's literally nine in the morning. Bullying?. Eric. Seriously?" Raven said, her arms folded, and a look of disappointment on her face.
"Let him go. What is this for? Attention?"
"Hey! Who the fuck do you think you are?" The boy, Eric asked.
I smiled. "Hi! I don't think we have officially met. Asshole, I'm Dylan. Dylan, that's asshole." I beamed at him.
"Since you are new here, you should know there are certain people you should talk to and not talk to, and you might not live long enough to realize that." Blonde said.
"You talk like the only woman to ever show you love is your very own mother because no other woman would want to give you the time of the day because your life apparently is miserable. You clearly possess a mind not merely twisted, but actually sprained. Don't abuse the privilege of being entitled to stupidity, Ed," I said and looked at the others. "Edd, and Eddy."
"You think you're funny?" The blonde boy asked, and I flashed him a smile.
"You wouldn't know humor if it was standing in front of you, since your life is sad." I said and looked at Eric.
"Eric, just go about your business and let's have a pleasant morning." Raven sighed, frustratedly.
"What she said" I folded my arms.
The Jock holding the bullied boy scoffed. "You are really crossing the line here."
I turned to him. "Let that kid go, and you all should really stop being some miserable dicks who's tryna throw their daddy issues whatever at students who can't defend themselves."
"You have a sharp tongue." He dropped the boy and walked over to me with a smirk, and stood in front of me. "I'm not a bad guy, I just retaliate."
"Is that supposed to be hot and help you get all the girls?" I retorted.
He scoffed. "In Eastwood High, everyone minds their business, so mind yours."
"That's funny, you're apparently not minding your business if you're here bullying a kid."
"Don't cross me, Dylan. You talk about us having unhappy homes, but it's looking like that's you instead. You might have been a fucked up lunatic in your old town and a savior but that shit isn't gonna work here, Jesus."
"Maybe I just detest people like you." I replied him. "Maybe I can't stand the sight of you guys bully someone who is weaker than you, simply because he can't fight back."
"I don't think that's it." He smiled.
"Maybe quit trying to be a smart ass when all you literally are is an......ass." I shrugged. "The only problem I have at the moment is the fact that I have been standing here for over five minutes talking to three brothers one brain, and it apparently is exhausting since y'all cant comprehend shit."
Eric chuckled. "You'll be a fun one to play with.
I smiled. "Hmm. You will be a fun one to deal with."
"You are new to this school, boy. I will tell you to mind the business that pays you. Before you find yourself in a story you shouldn't be in." Eric said.
I folded my arms as well and moved an inch closer to Eric with a smile. "I very much agree with you, and you know what the crazy thing is? This right here, I just made it my business." I shrugged. "I'm the new kid, yes, but don't think for one second i will be that kid you bully."
"If you touch me, I'll do the same to you. If you ruffle my clothes, I'll destroy your locker. If you tear my books, I'll shave your hair off, and if you try to make my life miserable, you'll be the one asking for forgiveness." I said. "That's literally how it works out every-time." I grinned.
Eric smirked. "You are fucked up, huh?"
"I like to think so."
Eric looked around to see some students were watching the scene and whispering to each other.
"See you around, Dylan." He said and looked back at his minions. "Let's go."
Eric looked away from them and at Raven. "This is who you are hanging out with?"
"Eric, sweetheart, can't you see apparently I made the right choice? He's sickening and has a voice." Raven said with a proud smile.
"Hmmph." He looked back at me. "Like I said, see you around, Dylan." He said and turned, walking away. He got to the place the boy was, and slammed his head against the locker making him wince in pain before storming off.
I cursed at him and went over to the boy, squatted down and helped pick him up. He muttered a thank you and was clearly shivering, eyes watery. I offered him a small smile that disappeared almost as soon as it appeared.
"It's not okay, if you keep letting them treat you like shit, your self esteem will be bruised for good. You are sort of weak, I am not gonna lie, but what's worse is letting them know your weakness and allowing them use that against you."
He just nodded. "Thank you for helping me."
"I might not be there next time, so try to stand up for yourself."
"All right everyone of you whores, get to class, this ain't Hamilton." Raven said to everyone.
"Thank you." The boy said again and walked away.
I sighed. "I hate that I have to exchange words with someone this early, we could have just gotten to the part we fight. Felt like I was in some cheesy high school movie." I grimaced.
"I must say Dylan. you're quite fun, and you really know how to hold your grounds. I didn't wanna get involved just to see you handle it and I was fascinated. " Raven chuckled as we made our way down the hallway and to our class.
"I hate people like Eric, they bring bad memories."
They really did.
"So, are you gonna be like the school supergirl?"
"I have a life, I just meddle when I have to. I don't like bullying, still don't mean I won't run my mouth when I need to."
"Hmm. Beauty and brains."
"I see not a lot of people in this town has that." I said, pouting. "Well, now y'all have me." I shrugged.
"You are so full of yourself."
"As I should be. You are lucky you met me."
"Narcissistic much?" She chuckled softly.
"Nope." I replied. "Just bold."
"Right." Raven shrugged. "I knew I made the right choice by walking up to you and not the other new kid."
"You had options? You seemed desperate like you had a cult. I actually thought you had a cult and wanted me in."
Raven tilted her head to the side. "Hmm. Why don't I have a cult?"
"See," I smiled. "I'm the lightbulb y'all in Eastwood needs."
"I really didn't know you had that said of you, the side you showed Eric. I mean, I knew there was something about you, I just didn't know what." She said, looking impressed.
"Well, There are a lot of things you don't know about me, we literally just met, Lois Lane."
"Shut up." She said and turned to the girl in glasses who just sat on the seat at her right. "Get up and get lost." She said and the girl immediately did that.
She turned back to me and I gave her a look. "I didn't bully her, I talked to her."
"You are....oh my God." I shook my head and turned away from her.
But something had been bothering me ever since my encounter with Eric. Was he able to see through me?
"You talk about us having unhappy homes, but maybe it's you who don't have a happy home and have failed previously in your own miserable life, that now. Now, you are trying to make up for your past mistakes by coming off as a savior."
I bit my bottom lip.
I kept my expression blank, but he might have been able to catch on. The last thing I would want was for anyone here to know about me in Seattle, and I really should be careful who I make my enemies.
Eric.
I hate him already.
But he doesn't seem stupid.
"You think appearing as a savior to one kid would make up for your miserable times?"
Not one kid, Eric, but hopefully they all do.
I swallowed.
•••
"So, you gonna try out for the team?" Raven asked as we sat on one of the bleachers, at the field. It was P. E and we had one more class left before we had to go home.
I shook my head and scoffed "No way, I don't play football. Basketball? Yes. Archery? Perfect. But this sport where I might die? No thank you sweetie." I shook my head.
Raven nodded, and then frowned as if it had just hit. She turned to me and tilted her head to the side with knitted brows, looking at me like I was about to Dracarys the school.
"What?"
"And shooting arrows is safe? Are you stupid?"
"Shut up," I rolled my eyes. "It's different." I said and took a sip from my bottle water.
"How is that different?"
"With football or baseball, one injury and a person might never play again." I shrugged. "With Archery, it could be death." I shrugged. "One injury and you could be singing Yahweh in heaven with God." I giggled.
"You are messed up."
"I am."
I was kinda tired. We had to run for a while for some stupid test that I didn't know was necessary till now. I wish I could have somehow skipped, maybe said my appendix had shifted to my hips or something, but I wanted to see if the school had hot boys, and they did.
Even the Villains whom I had confronted this morning, were....I hate to say it. Hot.
"Well, we have some girls here for cheer leading tryouts." Raven said and stood up. "I have so much people to say no to." she sighed and looked at her cheer leading squad "Wait! Is that girl wearing pink socks on a green top.? It's like she intentionally wants me to kick her off," Raven scoffed. "I just might grant her wish." She said, got up and marched towards them.
I just chuckled and looked to the field and my eyes landed on him again. Henry. The Hebrew God. He was running across the field with the ball in his hand and then threw it to another guy, probably the one on his own team. It was all kinda going in slow motion to me, It happens when I am drooling over a man who I probably want to have sex with.
Henry was hot, okay? He was kinda the first guy here to actually catch my attention and that says something. Watching him with his perfect wet hair and muscular arms that I really wanted to touch. Don't judge me. I am a horny mess because I haven't had a dick inside of me for the longest.
Shit!
He somehow caught me. He had turned and our eyes just met, I quickly looked away and cleared my throat. Was he reading my mind? Could he read minds? Wait, is this a school for the gifted?
I didn't want Henry to think I was busy checking him out because the last thing I want is for Henry to think I'm a creep, which I am not. Nope. Plus my gaydar isn't exactly sharp with this one, so I cannot tell if he likes men or if he likes women, or both.
Look at me sipping this water like a classy bitch just cause I know he's watching.
"Hey," I turned to my left and standing next to me was a slim guy, he was pretty hot. Not my type but he was cute. It's like all the guys in this school are just frigging hot and had nice eyes too.
"Um, Hi."
"Can I join you?"
"If I say no, I'd b a jerk, so sure. I don't exactly own the bleachers."
"Thanks," he smiled and sat next to me. "Uh.. I'm Jaxton Olson. J-A-X." He spelt out and pulled his hand out a handshake.
I looked at it and nodded slowly. "Dylan Dexwell," I smiled back at him. "D-Y-L-A-N. And sorry, I don't do handshakes but nice to-meet you?"
Question.
"Oh, uh, you too," he chuckled and pulled his hand back. "So, I was in some of your classes."
Was I supposed to know?
"And you aren't supposed to know that, but I just thought I should come say thank you." He said awkwardly.
"For what?" I frowned, confused.
"Standing up for that guy in the hallway this morning." He answered, smiling.
"Oh! That was nothing."
"Are you kidding? You tore those boys into pieces. I was already coming their way, but then I saw you handling it and just....watched, waiting to step in but you didn't need help." He chuckled. "Thank you for helping Tyler out."
"He looks like a nice kid."
"I was extremely impressed actually, it was also funny too because you knew what to hit them with to get them all riled up." Jax chuckled.
I shrugged. "Call me Alex Russo."
He snickered.
"Anyways, It was a nice thing to do. He will remember you for a long time for that, you are probably his hero now." Jax smiled.
"I wouldn't say hero, I just did what I knew was right."
"Right," he smiled. "And what are you doing after school? Maybe we could go watch a movie?"
Woah! Wait, is he.. Wait. Is he hitting on me?
"Um...I don't know, I've got homework and-"
"Hey, I'm just paying you back and just wanna be friends too. I keep telling my boyfriend to try look out for the other kids who can't fight back."
Boyfriend?
You just had to jinx it didn't you, Dylan? And he's...he's gay but wasn't hitting on me. Oh wow, Dylan.
"Boyfriend." I repeated.
"Yeah, I'm gay. Is that a problem?"
"Oh God no, I'm not homophobic at all! Far from that."
Pretty faaaar from that.
He smiled. "That's good then." He said and looked down at his hands. "I was supposed to give you a tour, but I missed on that, I'm sorry."
I didn't want to really indulge him, but he did seem like a pretty good kid, and so I did.
"Why did you?"
He chuckled. "I may have overslept and arrived late, and didn't remember till the next day."
I chuckled. "Well, you can still give me that tour." I shrugged. "But more about the people in this school."
"What do you mean?"
"Who runs this school?"
"Principal Evans?"
"Studentwise."
"Oh, uh. No one really." He shrugged. "I mean, I would say the school is sort of like in four groups."
I frowned a bit. "Four groups?"
He nodded. "'Mmhmm. We have the elites, the second base, the regulars and the nobodies."
I blinked. "Wow. What?"
Jaxton chuckled. "In case you haven't noticed, Eastwood is a town filled with rich people and Eastwood high's board of directors have a lot of rich fuckers in it which means their kids go here." He shrugged.
"Hmm, go on."
"I mean, it's not like the elites named it that or grouped everyone. It just someday appeared on the school gossip site."
I grimaced in disgust. "You guys have that?"
He nodded. "Yeah. Wanna see?"
"No, thank you." I shook my head. "That's not my kinda gossip."
Jaxton chuckled. "Good, you'll do well without it. Plus, you've been on it already."
"Really?"
"Mmhmm." He nodded.
"Why? Anyways, that don't matter. Tell me about who are in what groups."
"Well, for the elites; they are the rich ones. Like super rich, daddy paid for my white teeth and I am a trust fund kid kinda rich."
"Well, who are they?"
"We have Raven, who I think you've met already."
"Of course."
"There's Eric, Henry, Zach and some others. About two others?"
"Hmm. And second base?"
"Second base are people who are known because of the elite, or have money but not as much as the super trust fund kids, you know? Or probably because of something they do that just has them up there. Like, Bruce and Jon who are Eric's lap dogs. And Christian who is a pretty boy, and then some jocks and cheerleaders." Jaxton shrugged.
"Hmm. And regulars?"
"They are just known for something. They are not important, but you just know who they are."
"Is that where you fall in?"
Jaxton gave a small nod. "Actually, yes." He chuckled. "And then the nobodies."
"And let me guess, the nobodies are the people who you would think died when you were in high school or were a dream fever, only to find out they actually exist or are not dead ten years later."
Jaxton chuckled. "Well, when you put it like that. Yes."
"And they are easily bullied."
Jaxton nodded. "Yeah, cause nobody cares."
"Why would you guys have such hierarchy? It's stupid."
"No one really like pays attention to it, but eventually you will see where people kinda fall into and who is important and who is less important, and well, who isn't." He shrugged.
"That's....crazy." I scoffed. "So where do I fall?"
"Definitely not a nobody. We don't know." He shrugged.
"Interesting. Well, thank you for that, Olson."
He smiled. "Sure thing. If you need me for anything, be it gossip or whatever. Find me. I'll leave you to your homework."
"Or I could skip it and we can both go watch The Boss Baby." I shrugged.
"Wait, you haven't seen that yet?" He frowned.
"Never," I shook my head.
"Oh my God," he laughed. "Seriously? I've watched that like...four times."
Of course you have.
"It's that good, huh?"
"Yes, extremely. But some people just hate it, don't know why though. How haven't you seen it?"
"Don't ask me, I'm just mad, I have been doing a whole lot since I moved here and haven't exactly gotten the chance, plus I don't exactly know anywhere. And I need to see that before other amazing movies hit the cinema."
"If you're not talking about Wonder Woman and Spider man, I don't know what other amazing movies you're talking about." He said and I slowly grinned.
"YES, THAT'S IT! Oh my God. I cannot wait to see Gal Gadot in action, I love her." I squealed.
"Ha! Me too. She's so gorgeous" he groaned.
"And tall,"
"...and her accent,"
"Is amazing!" I finished up and we both laughed.
"You are not an evil narcissist."
"You thought I was?"
"A lot of people think you are trouble."
I smiled. "That's sweet of them."
Jaxton gave me a look and laughed. "You are weird."
"If I wasn't, I'd be normal, and normal is boring." I replied.
"Well, true."
"Okay, wait. Marvel or DC? Which is your favorite?"
Please say DC. Please say DC.
"Definitely Marvel!"
"Nooooo," I grunted. "Marvel is lame!!!"
It really isn't, I just like DC better.
"Shut up!" He gasped. "Do not say that at all! Marvel is awesome. Can you find a guy like hawk in DC?"
"We don't need a giant green screen to prove a point." I told him. "Although, we do have Darkside and Doomsday."
Jaxton rolled his eyes. "Whatever. But at least ours don't try to take over the world every time."
"Your green screen hero needs a woman to calm him down. What is this? Beauty and the beast? Jaxton?"
"It isn't lame!" He chuckled.
"I didn't say it was, but you already thought so."
"You are an asshole."
"Who do you wanna compare to Batman? That guy is....ugh!!!"
"We have Black Panther. Perfect and fast."
"I can't believe I am having this conversation but we have Batman, Damian, catwoman, robin, nighwi- boy, what the fuck are you on?"
"Well, Black Panther is rich."
I stared at him blankly. "Really?"
"What it's true...and...oh wait, so is Batman."
I flashed him a smile.
"Well...whatever you have we have."
"Your speedster is dead. That guy, the Magneto's son. Oh yeah! Quick silver. Guess he ran to his death huh? But ours, Barry, Wally, Jessie Quick. Even the villains are still alive, come on. Really?"
"Quick silver died saving people jackass."
"Barry saves people but isn't dead, buttface." I wiggled my brows.
"Barry is annoying as fuck! He needs some motivational speech before he does what he has to do. Oh run Barry run. 'Barry you can do this'. 'Trust yourself'. Blah. Blah. Blah" he said and rolled his eyes.
"What? That's not....okay. It is true. It's annoying"
it really was. That inspirational thing was fucking annoying.
"See, I'm right."
"Just that once,"
"Wanna continue?"
"Can you keep up?"
"Pfft. Try me"
And well it went on for a long time even when we left the field. We still were arguing about it even in the locker room. Now that I think of it, it was funny.
We literally talked about characters that didn't exist and it wasn't because there was nothing else to talk about, but the energy he fed me, was something I enjoyed.
Something you could have with a sibling, it gave such a bond, like a craving for me, and I didn't want it to end.
It's crazy, right? He's just some stranger I met today, but sometimes there's a little spark you can have with a stranger that can create some sort of fire. And I had that with Jackie here, wait, sorry Jaxton.
We exchanged numbers and I was right about my feelings, Jaxton was really sweet. We hit up instantly and it felt like we already knew each other. That was something I couldn't tell if i should be happy about or worried about, because with humans? They can be very predictable and unpredictable at the same time, that's what makes them dangerous.
We said our goodbyes and went to our different classes, right before everyone went home.
