“James Monroe was the fifth prime minister of America, as you should know. In the year of March 4th, 1809 to March 4th, 1825. Class, it is very important to know these dates for the upcoming exam,” Mr Bernard reminded us but at the same time, he bores the crap out of me when he taught the lesson.
However, I don't have a choice so I had to wait until the bell goes for lunch. A few of my classmates were sleeping, some were biting on the tip of their pens, some were chewing gums. This proves that this class was a disaster for learning.
After another five minutes, the bell saved us from boredom.
“Okay, class. Remember to do your homework!” Mr Phillips dropped himself in his seat and sighed deeply. Thank God.
As you guys may know it, I was joining Clive for lunch and the new guy seemed to be lost. Guess who he was asking for directions? You know it was me. Tell me I'm right?
“Hey...I was just wondering if you could show me to the cafeteria. This school is quite a maze.” he asked me. Maybe I was wrong earlier about the part when I said he wasn't all that, but taking a magnifying glass and seeing him up close, he was kinda hot. Not a literal magnifying glass.
“I was just on my way there. You can tag along, ” I turned my back leading him to the cafeteria.
“By the way, I'm Brendan. You?”
“The last time I checked you asked me where the cafeteria was. Not my name. Okay?”
When we arrived, the cafeteria went so silent you could hear when a fly flies by. Then a few gossiping began.
“Why is she with him?”
“Ugh...look at her.”
Guess I was in the centre of attention.
Whitney was making her way over to Brendan with her tamed dogs next to her, “I heard you were new here. I'm Whitney...Whitney Hall. You should join me for lunch, ” she rolled her eyes at me and yanked his arm to her direction.
I didn't want him so I don't see the point in it.
Back to reality. So the cafeteria always smelt delicious and the food served in here was mouth-watering. I brought my own lunch to school anyway. I joined Clive by our recent lunch table. He was smiling at me.
“Someone got a few seconds of fame, ” He clapped me on and I laughed. My pathetic ass of a best friend was quite something.
“You mean a few seconds of embarrassment, ” I joined him at the table and took a small sandwich from my backpack and a bottle of water.
“Why don't you buy your lunch here? It tastes awesome.”
“We are two different people and you know I don't eat cafeteria lunches. Your question was quite dumb.”
“So, are you thinking of dating?” He mumbled in his food.
“Dating...Pshk no. Why did you ask?”
“Nothing. Nevermind.”
For some reason, I thought it was suddenly strange for him to ask me that and a little bit weird.
“Plans for tonight?” I asked.
“I was thinking maybe we could do a movie night. I bought the tickets.”
I murmured in my sandwich, “Sounds okay. And Thursday night?”
“Practise with Whitney.”
“Completely spaced out on that, ” I sipped some water inside my mouth.
For some reason, I felt like someone was boring holes through my body. My mind told me to look around and yup, that Brendan guy was staring at me. I cringed at how weird but how disgusting it felt especially when he was surrounded by a bunch of hoes. If you were wondering where the star athlete Asher Black was. He was basically leftovers. Since Brendan was new here, they neglected him.
Just a few loyal girls were still hanging by him.
“Poor Asher.”
“Now he is leftovers, ” Clive said with his mouth half-filled.
“Big time. Oh, I just remembered. So mom, Cassette, and I are going to the beach on Saturday. You should definitely come.”
“Saturday? Hmm...maybe. I'll be there before you know it.
We resumed eating lunch, talked about anything that we wanted to talk about then head to our separate classes after.

Clive had his own car but sadly I didn't. So basically, I had to ride with him Clive was handsome and I hope that someday he will get his dream girl real soon. We were both jamming to the music Pillowtalk by Zayn Malik. It was actually a beautiful song to listen to.
“We'll go slow and high tempo. Light and dark...” We both sang together.
We continued, “So we'll piss off the neighbours. In the place that feels the tears. The place to lose your fears. Yeah, reckless behaviour. A place that is so pure, so dirty and raw. In the bed, all day, bed all day, bed all day. Fucking in and fighting on. It's our paradise and it's our war zone. It's our paradise and it's our war zone...”
“I love this song. It reminds me of someone who I secretly have a crush on, ” Clive told me as he stared the car.
“Ooo...who is that? I wanna know.”
“I can't tell you that Cass.”
“But we are besties, ” I whined.
“But it's a secret crush. You will know when I feel like telling you.”
“I bet it's Whitney, ” I was probably teasing him to get a reaction from him.
“Ewe no. Not even close, ” he cringed.
“I was just messing with you ”
We arrived and went straight in. I paid for popcorn then went inside the cinema. We took our seats and munched on popcorn. It was Batman, the movie.
“You know we could have stayed at my place and watch this on Netflix, right?” I asked him, sucking some soda inside my mouth from the straw.
“I know but seeing it this big, it's better, ” he said while chewing on his popcorn.
“You have a point.”
Halfway in the movie, I was feeling slightly tired. I felt like I was now falling asleep.
“We should go now, ” Clive took me out of the cinema and brought me to his car. Once we both got inside, he drove off instantly.
When I arrived home, I dropped myself in bed. Mom wasn't home. She worked 24'7. She was a doctor and as for Cassette, she was my older sister and she works late at night. The best thing for me right now was to sleep. I wasn't even thinking of a shower.
