Chapter eleven

Cassidy

Breathe Cassidy. Breathe. I need air inside my freaking lungs to breathe. I was in my room, walking back and forth, unable to think straight. So tell me now, I need to do something he'd regret.

Everyone from school was blowing up my phone and I cannot think. Brendan will be a walking dead man. I sat down on my bed and took up my phone. I will read only six messages I got on my phone.

Stupid hoe.

Maybe I could be next.

Bitch, urgh!

Man, Brendan just applied to Promsfelid and hit on that chick already.

Cassidy 🔥🔥🔥

I should hit on her too.

I knew Clive would have a lot to ask. When I checked my Whatsapp, he already sent me four messages.

Tell me this is not true.

He exposed you all over Instagram.

I am definitely taking care of him tomorrow.

How did you end up with him?
Tell me, Cass.

I slapped my hands down on my legs and screamed. I had no other choice but to do the same thing to him. I am going to teach that bastard a nice lesson.

Grabbing my apple laptop from the desk at the corner of my room, I logged in and searched on ways to get revenge on boys.

Revenge is the action of hurting or harming someone in return for an injury or wrong suffered at their hands. It simply meant that it was payback time.

It reads, "Make them look bad. If you have the chance, you can do something in public to embarrass them and demean them. Hide your classmate's homework. Stuff their backpack full of tissues. Drip something sticky onto their chair.
Send something embarrassing from their phone.”

Useless. So I went to thinking mode and thought of something that might work.

Maybe I could secretly erase his name from the project. I will tell sir he didn't help me at all.

Or should I just ignore him for the better and avoid associating with him. I was trapped, my mind was telling me one thing and my body was telling me another.

“Did you do it?” Clive asked.

So if you were wondering where I was, I was at home getting ready for the beach trip but Clive came over earlier to have the chat with me.

“Do you think that low of me? I did not do anything. I did the project then passed out because I was tired and hungry. Somehow he took that photo of me when I was asleep, ” I was packing a few kinds of stuff in my beach bag. Mom and Cassette were getting ready too because they were coming.

I'll be driving with Clive and mom will be driving with Cassette.

“Have you completed the project with him?”

“Yes, ” I searched for a book to take with me.

“I don't want him anywhere around you. He's making things look bad for you and I don't like it, ” he helped me with the beach bag.

“I can fight my own battles, Clive. I will find a way to sort him out. But for now, let's just go down the beach and have some fun, ” I pinched his cheeks and he frowned.

We went downstairs. Mom and Cassette were ready to leave. I went with Clive's car and Cassette went with mom's as I mentioned earlier.

We both entered the car and Clive drove behind mom's car.

My phone was still blowing up from the other day.

Clive looked at me from the corner of his eyes, “Cass, I am not going to let him take advantage of you like this.”

I scrolled through my phone, reading the hateful and disgusting comments.

“I will take care of it, Clive. I will. I love the fact that you are looking out for me. I really do but there's nothing to worry about.”

That's what I thought.

“You always say that Cass but after, something worst happens. Look, let me give him a piece of my mind, ” he glanced at me.

The thing was, I could do this myself and mom always told me that two wrongs don't make a right. As much as I carved revenge for Brendan, the best way to do it was to ignore him and let it go.

“Clive, I know how much you want to but I don't think it's worth it. Look, it doesn't matter. I know within myself that I didn't do it and him doing something as bad as telling a lie will not cut off my breathing and kill me. Just let it go.”

He turned to read my face for a minute then said, “Okay. In a sense, I think that you're right.”

“You think, I mean, you know that I am right, not think.”

The corner of his lips tugged up into a small smile, “Okay.”

Beach at day? How would I describe it? Here I shoot. The beach was a sparkling blue colour due to the bright blue skies, golden sands stretching along the beach with a few holidaymakers crowding the area.

As far as my eyes could take me, there was a lighthouse that sits on one side. Latecomers, likewise myself, were arriving from the car park behind with their ice-cooler boxes, things they will need on the beach and other necessities for a beach occurrence.

Few persons were relaxing in deck chairs under sunshade umbrellas reading a book and to get a prized tan. A few other children were busy making sandcastles, playing a game of water war and others surfing on the beach.

Getting my huge sunhat from the back, Clive was in the trunk looking for his surfboard. He enjoyed surfing and basketball. Completely from two different worlds.

On the other hand, mom had her sunglasses on with her hair flying back due to the sea breeze. As for Cassette, she was busy searching for her sunscreen.

In a distance, I could see an old man sitting beside a brown wooden boat, offering to take a cute couple on a trip to see beautiful sea creatures such as dolphins.

Clive looked out to the beach, “I need to find strong wave current to surf.”

“For some reason, I think surfing is dangerous and I hated it, ” I told Clive as I took out my sunshade umbrella.

“Hate it? I mean, wearing these cool shorts while surfing, makes me hot.”

I almost puke my guts out, “Hot? Mute button, please.”

Clive looked at the couple strolling along the shoreline barefoot, hand in hand, “God I wish I could do that to my crush. Romance never bores me.”

“Maybe if you tell me who she is... maybe I can help you with it.”

“Don't you know the meaning of secret? When I'm ready,” he took out his phone, “Come closer. Let me snap a memory.”

He brought his hand up to take a selfie with mom and Cassette joining in.

Walking towards the beach with Clive, Mom and Cassette, the smell of fish blows in the air from the harbour ayonder.

“We'll set up here, ” mom stopped at a less crowded area.

In the meantime, Cassette was setting up her deck chair and umbrella.

“Should we go to the ocean or not?” I asked Clive.

“Wait. Let me get the ice-cooler from the car, ” Clive ran back towards the car.

Not too far away, I could see a lifeguard looking with his binocular on the beach.

The hair and the body type looked a little bit too familiar.

When he looked almost to my side, in the walking flesh and blood... Brendan.
