Chapter 41-Too Much Caffeine

"Are you going to stay the night? It's evening already..."

"Yeah hyung! I'll be practicing in the studio and then I'll maybe sleep in the company dorms. Haha."

Namjoon replies to Yoongi who has been helping the young hip hop star in the production of some his tracks.

Over the few days when Yoongi visited, both the men had grown closer. They discovered they had similar interests, opinions and styles when it came to music. As well they both admired each other's work, it was natural for them to end up as friends.

Though they still acted formal and respectful, it was the friendly kind of respectful.

It's a matter of few months when 'Rap Monster' will finally be able to debut.

The boy had signed contract with J-star Entertainment about three years ago, when he was only 18 years old. The training period was tough and full of difficulties, so he wishes his debut to be fruitfully successful.

"7 o' clock..I'm leaving now."

Yoongi speaks after looking up from his RoLeX watch. He comes here about 2-3 times a week after he is done with his classes at school.

Rap Monster's debut was equally important to Yoongi as it also meant his debut as a producer. He was the main in charge for the rapper's producing, composing and overviewing the song writing done by Namjoon.

"Goodbye hyung, take care."

"You too Namjoon."

And with that, Yoongi collects all his equipments and stuff into his black bag and throws it over his shoulder. He reaches out the studio door, to the hallway, to the elevator, to the lobby and finally out the J-star building.

Namjoon is very dedicated, passionate, talented as well as humble. He does deserve a lot of love and support in his career.

Yoongi wonders on the roadway, he's honestly impressed. Namjoon raps with such a great flow, accurate to the beats complemented by his perfect voice as if it was specially made for any kind of rap.

To talk of his songwriting...oh my my the boy could alone earn tonnes just by the way he writes his lyrics like a professional. Poetic, deep, and motivational. That's Rap Monster's style.

Yoongi agrees there maybe room for more improvement for Namjoon, but there's also a lot he could learn from him.

Honestly, Yoongi is really happy to be working in that place and meeting great people. He can never stop being thankful to his precious student, Taehyung for it.

Taehyung too holds a special place in Yoongi's heart. Not just as a favourite student or teacher's pet but a genuine admiration towards a likeable person.

With various thoughts in mind, Yoongi comes across a bright, warm and welcoming looking cafe on his path. It's located not much far away from the J-Star Entertainment company. He hadn't come from this route before so there's a lot to discover!

The sweet aroma of freshly brewed coffee filters through his nostrils, as if drawing him towards itself.

Yoongi checks the cash in his wallet before allowing his feets to enter the doors of the lovely cafe.

It smells even better inside.

It had been quite a productive yet tiring day for the young teacher. How could it be better than to end the day by rewarding himself a little cup of relaxing coffee, in a nice pleasant vibing environment?

He finds himself a lone seat near the glass display window.

Being the time of sunset, the eternal sky is painted in a beautiful orange. There are some fluffy clouds hiding the gradient red sun once in a while.

The streets are cheerful and more and people can be seen passing by. Yoongi quietly observes the people while waiting for his order to be taken.

This cafe is pretty busy, he thinks. For there are a lot of customers entering and exiting. Yoongi usually likes the more peaceful places but the vibes of this particular shop are just so bright and amiable. Makes sense, why so many people visit here.

He turns his gaze to the various people inside the cafe, nodding at the diversity. There are children, old people, wealthy looking women as well broke type college students.

His eyes subsequently stop the on a particular boy in a purple hoodie, sitting alone all the way at the corner table. His tabletop is occupied with three-four already drunk cups while another rests in the boy's hands.

What a familiar face...

Yoongi isn't a creep, but he observes the boy keenly, it's hard to see from the distance though the teacher doesn't fail to recognise his student's face he sees everyday.

And once he does, he gets up from his place to approach the boy. Yoongi isn't the type to meddle in other people's company when the other party may not be interested. But let's say, Yoongi noticed a not-so-positive expression on the boy which made him want to talk to him.

It surprises him how he is standing right next to the boy now, yet unnoticed by him. The younger must be too much fixated on whatever is going on inside him.

"Too much caffeine isn't good for health, Jungkook."

Hearing the sudden voice, Jungkook shuddered, the shock kind you do when mom enters between an ecchi seen coming in the anime, but for his case it's deeper.

He almost shakes and ends up dropping the coffee cup from his hands.

Which, thankfully, skillfully, Yoongi manages to catch in time and places on the tabletop.

"Y-You?"
Jungkook voice comes out frail and embarrassed.

"Yeah, me. Surprised?"

The younger turns his face in the opposite direction for a while, not wanting to answer. When he turns it back a bit in front, Yoongi is already sitting in the seat opposite to him with a :] face.

So uninvited.

"What is it ?"

Yoongi shrugs,
"Nothing, I just saw you."

"You wouldn't come here for nothing, tell me what you want!"

"You could tone it better, you know."

Jungkook didn't mean the line to sound that harsh but oh well, now it can't be helped. Besides, he was having trouble collecting his emotions.

So he doesn't respond, instead looks down at his lap. Hoping Yoongi would leave him alone. Though he may, may have felt the need to have someone by his side.

"So, why were you crying?"

"I wasn't crying! WHO SAID THAT??"

Uh-oh once again, Jungkook didn't mean to be so loud. But really what the fuck? Ain't nobody shedding stupid tears in a damn cafe.

"No one..uhh yeah you were not crying. But umm, what's up? You looked sad."

"And how does that concern in you in any way?"

Jungkook really needs to bite his sharp cheeky tongue.

"You're right. It doesn't. But guess I'm too kind for humanity to bother and concern myself when I see a sad kid all alone in a cafe, the kid who would normally be shining through the city with his friends."

Yoongi sounded sweet like sugar. Only he knows the hidden sarcasm dripping in his words.

Or maybe Jungkook does too.

"FirstI'm not a kid. And second–"

"What would you like to order to sirs?"
Jungkook gets interrupted by the waiter.

"Iced Americano please."
Yoongi spoke in a casual manner.

"Do you want something else sir?"
The waiter specifically asks Jungkook, picking up the empty cups in his tray.

"No I'll pass."

He looks back at Yoongi once the waiter is gone.

"Yeah second....it's, it's a personal family matter."

"It's a family matter you say, do you remember your brother told me to take good care of you, specially you."

"He says that to everyone I'm acquainted to."

"Yeah, because he concerns over you, and so do...I."

Jungkook can't help the guilty growing in the pit of his stomach. He's being rude and for what? His pride?

"I know you do..." Jungkook speaks in a rather dull tone, "But what can you even do in front of my father."

Yoongi listens quietly. Feeling somewhat sorry for the spoiled teenage boy.
He's still just a kid...

"I may not do anything, but sharing it might lessen the burden on your shoulders."

"You're talking as if you know."
Jungkook glances out at the illuminated streets full of life.

"Nah. But I'm old enough to figure things out. I know you're Jeon Corporation's CEO's son. The pressure is real, to know you're next in line to take over such a big corporation soon."

"I-It is.." Jungkook stutters, "It really is."

"I understand that, yeah?"

"Do you really? It's not just pressure. I..I feel a mix of emotions. Sometimes, I'm excited and proud, other times...I feel..I feel scared and incapable."

Jungkook stopped his sentence there. He didn't just want to tell his weaknesses to Yoongi. It would affect his image if anyone at school gets to know.

But did he really need such an image?

"Isn't that normal? You are a teenager, afterall...Jungkook, you aren't a kid but you aren't a full adult yet either. Most of the CEOs age more than twenty five. It's totally normal to feel mixed feelings when such a responsibility is put upon you at a younger age. You're getting what I'm saying, right?"

Jungkook hates how Yoongi is speaking nothing but facts, how he actually agrees with everything his teacher is saying, how Yoongi really seems to be understand him and his emotions without judging, how...nice of a person the pale guy can be.

It's not really 'hate' but it's the Jungkook kind of hate. Where his tough bad boy persona feels threatened, at the same time a part of him would feel comforted. Only a smol part.

Meanwhile, the waiter arrives and places two Iced Americanos on the table.

"Here is your order, Sir. Hope you enjoy?"

Jungkook draws his eyebrows in a little confusion.

"I ordered one for you, just drink it."

When did he ??

He notices the little warm smile on Yoongi's face as the teacher offered the cup.

Jungkook couldn't bring himself to refuse, instead he pouts but accepts.

He may even have mumbled a nearly incoherent 'thank you' which surely didn't go unheard by Yoongi's observant ears.

The moment while drinking from their own cups is quiet, but there is no tension or awkwardance , it's a relieving and peaceful quiet.

Jungkook finishes his cup first. He wouldn't lie, he does feel somewhat refreshed.

"I won't say in detail..."

Yoongi nods.

Jungkook sighs deeply, "My father has really high expectations from me...These days, he is taking me to the many subsidiaries and companies that fall under the Jeon Corporations to look over the workings, management and all that stuff. He wants me to gain as much experience I can and as soon as possible."

He pauses for a moment and looks up, then turns his face to stare right in his teachers eyes, "I feel like...this way, my youth is ending even before it started."

Yoongi easily notices the visible concern and sadness all over the younger's face. He can tell Jungkook is anxious and unsure, even if it isn't admitted.

It's true. Yoongi really can't help him in this.

He knows too well, everyone faces different challenges at different phases of life. They may get some support, but they themselves have to get over the difficulties in their life.

Yoongi's eyes glance at the big clock placed on one of the cafe walls.

8 : 15

Time flies fast. Too fast to keep track of.

Yoongi does need to get back home now despite wanting to give another moment to his helpless student.

As final words of encouragement and comfort, he places one of his hands over Jungkook's and softly caresses it.

"I know you can face it Jungkook, you're a fighter."

Probably for the first time, Jungkook doesn't flinch at the contact. His eyes unexpectedly brighten as he feels a portion of weight removed from his chest.

He may have unconsciously nodded, smiled and muttered another 'thank you' but no one tell him!

He gets up from the table at the same time as Yoongi, ready to pay the bills and leave, back to home.

He's still in dilemma if he should accept how it's going or talk to his father and express his feelings honestly, he would decide that for later.

They make their way directly to the reception counter.

Jungkook sure had drunk a lot of coffee today. Caffeine actually helps his stress. He reaches his back pocket for his wallet and finds nothing there.

Then he checks the front ones but nope! Nothing there either.

A relatable panic rushes through his body.

Shit.

He doesn't waste time in rechecking his seat and around the cafe for any signs of a dropped object. As bad as his luck could be, again NO.

"..Umm I Think I dropped my wallet somewhere.."

Embarrassed again, Jungkook whispers in a squeaky voice to a previously confused Yoongi, who was paying for both of the Iced Americanos.

Before Yoongi could speak, Jungkook further explains,

"I can call my brother or any one from the house to pay, but..but they don't know about this place, I don't want anyone to know this place I come to when I want alone time."

Explains why he wasn't hanging out with any of his gang members.

As embarrassed as Jungkook could be, he puts his head down in shame. The multi-millionaire guy of Seoul, who's soon to take up one of the biggest corporations is standing penniless in a rather mediocre restaurant. Shameful!

Yoongi didn't speak until they reached outside together, he simply, volunteerly paid for the four cups of excessive coffee his student had chugged down.

"So will you register the missing wallet in police station?"

"Hmm no need to. I didn't carry much in that anyway. No loss to me.

"I would do otherwise. No doubt. Each and every won is important for us."

Jungkook felt bad for having Yoongi to pay. It was more guilty than embarrassment now.

"I'll return you thrice the amount tomorrow." Jungkook spoke in a firm tone.

"You better do!" Yoongi joked.

They had to part ways soon in the main street. It's strange. How the ones who hated each other to guts, can now speak comfortably with little effort.

Jungkook might see his teacher as at least trustable person to rely on. When he saw Yoongi had turned towards his own way, he didn't stop himself to confess it out loud.

"You made my day less worse."

Maybe it was just the result of too much caffeine that made Jungkook say that, who knows?
