Nine
I knew that I wouldn't be able to fall asleep tonight.
It's not that I'm uncomfortable with Jay, but because my mind was far too busy to allow me to rest.
My eyes flutter over to the sleeping boy, examining his relaxed features. He even looks handsome when he isn't awake.
He looked so gentle while he's sleeping, unlike when he is fully awake. I can't help but wish that he would be sweet all of the time. But it's not right to ask that of him, considering that it's not his personality.
Yet I still feel like he has a soft spot.
Maybe I can bring it out of him.
It won't happen over night, but who says it isn't worth a try? I think that it would be worth it.
Watching his chest rise and fall softly reminds me that he is still a human being. It's absurd to forget that, but sometimes I get so caught up in categorizing him as a 'player' that I forget he's a human.
It may sound creepy, watching him sleep. But Jay's ego is so large that I'm sure it would only boost it if he found out that I was.
Just then, my phone chimed. It rang throughout the room, making me cringe at the loud volume. Hopefully it doesn't wake Jay up.
But who would be trying to get ahold of me at this hour?
I groan, trying to reach for the device that is laid on the bedside table.
"So far away," I whisper to myself, wishing that my arms were just a bit longer.
You see, normally it wouldn't be a problem. But Jay's arms are wrapped tightly around me. If I were to pry myself out of his grip, he surely would pull me back.
"Raina," his husky voice says in a mumble. I freeze, unaware if he is awake or not.
"Hmm," I hum, switching my gaze to him.
His eyes were lightly shut.
"Where are you going? Stay with me." He speaks.
"I'm not going anywhere," I answer, fighting back a chuckle. He is definitely still half asleep.
A cool breeze blew through the room, causing me to squint my eyes in confusion. I shivered, looking over to the window of his room. It was slightly open.
The nights can get very cold in temperature, so I don't know why Jay would just leave his window open like that.
A gentle breeze blew the curtains, making them flutter up in unpredictable movements. I was only in a tee shirt, so there's no doubt that I will easily get too cold.
"Jay," I whisper, nuzzling closer to him.
"It's cold." I whine into his neck.
His breathing changes, signaling that he is awake now. His strong arms then hold me so tightly against his body, I thought we might fuse into one.
"Hmm," he hummed into my ear, caressing the bare skin of my arms. His hands were surprisingly warm.
"I like it cold," he answered while placing a soft kiss on my temple, and then on my shoulder.
I shivered again, but it wasn't from the wind. He leaned back, examining me closely.
"Are you really that cold?" He asks, eyes scanning mine.
I shake my head. I don't want to burden him, so it only makes sense to put up with it.
"But you keep shaking..." he trails off. A frown found his lips.
"I'm okay, don't worry." I assure, giving him a weak smile.
He leans towards me, nibbling on my lips. After getting over the shock from his sudden action, I respond to the kiss.
I can feel him smiling, which brings butterflies to my stomach.
Each day the butterflies get worse. It used to be a small feeling of nervousness when I'm around him, but now it's so strong-- almost painful.
A pleasurable pain, of course.
"I can warm you up." he says, almost in a growl.
I stop moving completely.
His slender fingers trace patterns onto my stomach.
My shirt was ridden up a bit, so some of my skin was exposed. His traced my hipbones, leaving a trail of fire on them.
I grab his wrist, moving it away from me. He peers into my eyes, confused as to why I stopped him.
Jay must be used to always getting his way.
"Stop," I warn.
"You don't like it?" He asks, jutting out his lower lip.
"It's late, you should sleep." I answer while pressing his shoulders so that he would lay down properly again.
"You're no fun." He says with a groan.
"I can leave if you'd like." I retort, giving him a shove.
"No," he blurts out. "I'll behave, just please don't leave."
Jay? Behave?
Tch, like that would ever happen.
I swallow back a laugh, brushing off his little white lie. I know that this boy is incapable of ever acting properly.
His eyes flicker. I can feel him examining my every feature. To be honest-- his stare makes me squirm.
I feel very insecure around him, considering the fact that he is extremely handsome. I am average looking, so you could see where my worries come from.
It makes me wonder why Jay picked me. I mean, I'm not the only one he has ever picked. But I know for a fact that the previous girls were much prettier than I.
I'm not cute or girly, and I thought that was his type. There's nothing wrong with those traits, but it is not my personality.
Jay has also never been with a girl that doesn't listen to his songs. I've heard a few, but I'm not huge into hip hop.
"What's on your mind?" He asks tiredly. It was late, I don't blame him for needing sleep.
"You." I admit, looking into his dark eyes. They light up instantly.
"What about me?" He asks with a wink. My eyes roll at his ego. It's so large; I am surprised it hasn't burst yet.
He eagerly awaited for an answer that never came. He begged for me to respond, but I refused to tell him. It's not that important for him to know.
I told Jay to get some sleep. He reluctantly obeyed, closing his eyelids lightly.
I felt him tug me closer, and his body heat enveloped me. I don't understand how he is always so warm.
We stayed like this in comfort, and it lasted all night.
__________
The next morning, Jay woke up. A smile spread across that face of his when he had noticed that I was still beside him.
I can't deny that his giddiness is a little cute, it just tends to give me a shock.
"I have to go to the studio," he said while rubbing his face roughly. I tensed up.
"Be careful," I request, pulling his hands down slightly. He grins, shaking his head at me.
The bed dips down and rises back up as he gets out. The warmth leaves with him, unfortunately. He grunts and groans while stretching.
I watch as he walks over to the dresser, pulling out a fresh set of clothes. With no shame he starts getting undressed right in front of me.
"Oh my," I mutter and cover my eyes. I can hear his snickers as he throws his used shirt at me.
"You're too shy," He says. "We're dating now, you can see me without a shirt."
I can hear his footsteps nearing, but I remain in the position that I am in. His large hands cover mine, removing them from my face.
"You are blushing~" he teases, earning a slap.
"Stop it," I snap.
"It's not like you've never seen me without a shirt, babe." There was a smirk in his voice.
"I know, I'm just giving you some privacy." I advert my gaze to the ground. He is so blunt, I could never be like that.
He then walks over, fetching the clothes once again. He slowly changes into them, making sure that I see his toned torso. I shake my head with a giggle.
"Do you want to come into the studio today? You can watch me." he offers, eyeing me curiously.I let out a gentle sigh.
I'm not so sure that it would be the greatest idea if I went along. I might embarrass him, or give a bad impression to the other members on his record label.
Jay may be a jerk sometimes, but I would never affect his career.
"I don't know..." I trail off.
"Come on, it will be fun." He whines, walking over to me.
"Jay, I don't think it's a good idea. I would love to see you work, but I don't want to be a bother."
"You could never be a bother! Please, I miss you during the day. Just come."
And that is how he convinced me to come along. I guess it didn't take much effort on his part.
_________
Jay's hand grips the handles of the large glass doors, and he swiftly tugs it open.
He allows me to walk in first, but I stop quickly to let him lead the way through this building. He smiles cutely, placing a hand at the small of my back.
Lights reflect on his raven black sunglasses, but I start to wonder why he is wearing them indoors.
"Good morning Mr. Park." a short lady speaks, flashing a smile.
He nods, almost dismissing the poor woman completely. I smile apologetically, and her frown quickly turns into a smile.
We make our way up to a large desk. There's another lady behind it, flipping through a stack of papers. Jay's fingers tap on the granite counter, causing her eyes to flick up.
"Oh, Mr. Park," she notices. "My apologies, I didn't see you there."
"Yeah, let him know that I'm here."
She nods vigorously, tapping buttons on her phone. I watch in awe, but Jay tugs me away.
It was amazing how well known and respected he is. Every one that passed by had some form of greeting to him. Yet of course, he dismissed each one of them.
I have to admit, I was a but surprised that Jay ignored the flirtatious girls. Maybe he sees them everyday, but he wasn't the least bit impressed.
We reach a door that reads Recording Studio.
To my understanding, there are many different studios in this large building, ranging from recording to dancing.
It must be very convenient to only need one place for each activity that you do.
The door swings open, and Jay insists that I walk in first. He does have manners, I'll give him that. But I would appreciate if he continued to lead the way through this unfamiliar place.
A few guys came into sight, and they looked somewhat familiar. They are probably in the music videos that I have seen.
"Yo," Jay speaks, and their heads snap his way.
A string of greetings chorus through the room, and they shake each other's hands in the way that any male friend would.
One of the boys spots me, apologizing for not noticing my presence any sooner.
"I don't think I know you," he admits. Stepping towards me with a handsome smirk.
"Easy, Simon." Jay warns. "She's mine."
The guys were very surprised that Jay had brought me along to the studio. I didn't think much of it, assuming that Jay had told them to say that.
I got to know them better, and we mingled for a bit. As far as I can tell, they liked me. I'm very thankful that I didn't ruin anything for Jay.
But after awhile, it was Jays turn to record. He kisses my lips, prancing off into the room.
I walk over, watching him.
In the middle of it, one of the guys comes to sit by me. I believe his name was Loco.
I'm not very good with names, but I recognized him as one of my preferred rappers.
"So," he speaks. "What is your secret?"
"What do you mean?" I eye him with curiosity. I don't know what he could be thinking about.
"Your secret to Jay's heart." he teases. "He has never brought a girl to the studio before, so you must be doing something right."
"Oh, please." I laugh dryly. "I'm flattered, but you don't have to pretend any longer."
"Pretend? I'm completely serious." He gawks at me momentarily. "Hell, I feel like I already know everything about you."
"I don't understand..." I trail off.
I didn't think that I was that open with people.
"He doesn't stop talking about you. Raina, believe me when I tell you that he has never acted this way when it comes to girls. He has never wanted to know them on a personal level, and he definitely hasn't gotten them involved with his work."
My eyes travel to the producer, and I watch as he messes around with the many switches and buttons in front of him.
"You're probably worried about other girls." He speaks again. And he was right.
My head nods, but I don't say anything.
"You're special to him. Please, just be patient with Jay." He finishes.
It seems that each word that comes out of his mouth is packed with honesty. Butterflies invade my stomach, causing my to grasp it tightly.
I look to the boy singing passionately into the microphone. Emotions are flowing from his appearance as he belts out each word.
Oh, Jay.
You always manage to make me fall harder each day.
