Eight

Tapping my foot on the ground, I allow for my mind wander off.

Jay had told me to meet him at the park, and wait for him at the bench. It's the bench we always seem to find each other at.

But I really wonder what is so important that he couldn't just tell me via text. Is it really that big of news?

Oh, maybe it has something to do with his music career. He could be gaining more success, and wanting to celebrate.

Either way, there is no way that I'll be able to figure it out. Jay is very spontaneous, and I can't crack into his thoughts.

Although it would be pretty cool, being able to know exactly what someone is thinking. But unfortunately, I am not gifted with that ability.

A gentle tap on my shoulder causes me to turn around. I am greeted by a charming smile, so I return the gesture.

"What are you so happy about?" I ask as Jay takes a seat.

"A simple 'Hello, I'm happy to see that you are in such a cheery mood' would have been nice." He retorts, the grin not leaving his face.

"That is not simple," Jay lets out a chuckle. "But it is nice to see you in a great mood."

"Thank you, Raina." He answers proudly.
Although, I'm not sure exactly what he was proud of.

"So what is it?" I ask, growing impatient. I could be at home watching kdramas, but I'm stuck on a bench with this smiley heart-throb.

"What do you mean by that?" He asks, narrowing his eyes.

"Jay," I warn. "You called me over here because you said that there was important news."

"Well, I will tell you," He answers, getting up and tugging on my hand.

"Just tell me here," I groan. "Why must we go somewhere else?"

"Because it's not romantic," he answers. "We come here all of the time."

"Please, Jay?" I say in the cutest way possible, not forgetting to pout.

He stares at me in awe, quickly giving up. "Fine," he states with a sigh and sits back down.

I really don't like pouting to get my way, but it seems to work on Jay. So, may as well continue.

I turn my body to face his, eagerly waiting to hear what he had to say. I must admit, it's one of the first times that I have been this intrigued by the guy.

"Well, I'm aware that you don't want to hear this. And to be honest, I don't really know to approach you when it comes to this question. But I do know that you are the most beautiful and special girl that I have ever met. No one is the same as you. Hell, it's not even worth comparing anyone to you, because it will always be you."

I couldn't believe the words leaving his mouth, but I kept silent and let him say everything that he wanted to.

Jay continued on. "Raina, I'm sorry this couldn't be more meaningful. But will you be my girlfriend?"

"Sure," I answer, watching for his reaction.

"Please, just give me a chance- wait, what did you say?" He turns the sentence around, completely shocked by my agreement.

"I said that I will be your girlfriend," I answer for him.

"Really?" His voice had raised an octave higher, it seemed like.

"Really. Just don't mess it up, alright?" I warn, earning a vigorous nod from him.

"I will not mess this up," He says excitedly, pulling me into a hug.

But now it is only a matter of how long it will take for his previous statement to become a lie.

Letting out a sigh, I get up to go into the kitchen. After my day with Jay, I came home to spend some time with Cassy.

I can't stay mad at the girl forever, so I may as well just enjoy a movie night with her. We've been watching films since the minute I stepped through the door.

"Where are you going?" She says with a grown. "You'll miss the best part!"

"I've already seen this movie, I don't care if I miss anything," I say, grabbing a bottle of water from the refrigerator.

Twisting open the cap, I take some sips. My legs are getting a bit restless from sitting for such a long time, so I need to stretch them out.

Unlike Cassy, I cannot sit in one spot for the entire night without getting antsy.

"Come back!" She shouts, earning an eye roll from me.

"This girl, really." I mumble to myself. She is high maintenance.

I stride back into the living room, sitting down again. She nods her head in content, not forgetting to add a smug look on her face.

I shake my head, trying to watch the movie again.
But all I could think about was the fact that Cassy took the news quite well.

I told her that Jay and I are now together. But I didn't leave out the fact that I have a feeling that Jay will break his promise, and fall into his familiar ways.

She couldn't understand why I agreed to be his girlfriend in the first place, but I couldn't even answer that question for myself. I feel like Jay could be different, and he is really making an effort to stay in my life.I feel like he deserves this, so I couldn't bring myself to say no.

But as per usual, my thoughts were cut short. The ringing of my phone chimed through the room, and I could only guess who it is.

"Ugh," Cassy complains. "Doesn't he know that it's a girls' night?" I guess that she knows who it is too.
Maybe Jay is just predictable.

I trudge into my room, closing the door. Grabbing my phone, I glide my finger across the screen to answer his call.

"Hello, Jay." I greet, even though my tone wasn't very polite. I wasn't annoyed, though. Mostly curious as to why he's calling me when I had just seen him earlier today.

"Raina," he states, but didn't finish the sentence.
He was too busy giggling.

"What is so funny?" I ask, wanting to join the laughter.

"I don't know," he admits. "I just wanted to tell you that I really care about you. You're such a beautiful girl, I will try not to hurt you." He slurred out.

"You're drunk," I observe.
He didn't even mention that he would be going somewhere tonight.

"No, I'm not drunk" He says, laughing again. "Actually, you're right. I had a lot of drinks tonight."

"Okay, where are you? Please don't tell me that you drove home like that."

"No, of course not! I'm at Yugyeom's house,"
I had completely forgotten that Yugyeom was having another party tonight.

"Stay there, I'm coming to pick you up."

"No, I don't want to leave. I'm having so much fun, baby."

"Shh, I'll be there in a few minutes," I answered, hanging up the phone quickly.

Grabbing a jacket from my closet, I shrug it on and rush into the living room. It seems like my job never ends-- taking care of my intoxicated friends.

"Where are you going now?" Cassy complains.

"Jay is extremely drunk, I'm going to take him home."

"Okay," she chuckles. "Have fun with that."
I nod, walking out of the apartment.

Hopping into my car, I travel to Yugyeom's house. I had to go by memory, so it was kind of hard to find. I wasn't really paying attention the last time, and it took me a bit longer to get there.

Nonetheless, I finally reached my destination. I found a spot to park, and left the vehicle running. It's probably not a good idea, but I want to get out of here as soon as possible.

I then stride up the driveway and into the house.

'Damn,' I thought. It may take longer than I hope.
Pushing my way through the many bodies, I go down into the basement. Luckily, I spotted Jay from across the room.

"Raina!" A familiar voice fills my ears.

"Oh hey, Yugyeom" I say sweetly.

"I didn't know that you were coming tonight." He stated. Gladly, he wasn't drunk too.

"I'm not staying, actually. I'm just here to pick up Jay." I explain, gesturing to his direction.

"Well, you better hurry." He states, nodding his head towards Jay. I narrow my eyes, confused.

Following his gaze, my eyes land on Jay. And he was talking to a girl. To top it off, she seemed to be throwing herself at him. But he wasn't even opposed to it.

Nodding to Yugyeom, I make my way over to them. Once I'm standing by them, Jay's face brightens up.

"Babe! You're finally here." He states, planting a sloppy kiss on my lips. I push him off, shaking my head.

"Who's this?" This girl sneers, looking me up and down.

"This is Raina, my girlfriend." He explains with a lopsided grin. The girl rolls her eyes, walking off.

Well, that was easy. I didn't even have to beg her to leave.

"Why are you talking to other girls?" I sass.
It seems like I'm being possessive, but that is a must when you are dating a playboy.

"I don't know, she came and started talking to me." Jay shrugged. "Hey, do you want a drink?"

He starts walking over to the cooler. I grab his wrist, pulling him back to me.

"I don't think that will be necessary. We have to leave now." I explain, tugging him along.

"Oh, where are we going?" He asks with a wink.

"Home," I state.

"Your home or mine?" He questions.

"Does it matter?" I question back.

"Yeah, I want to go to my house. Your roommate scares me," he admits with a laugh.

I help him into the car, jogging along to the other side and getting in myself. It feels like I am doing what he normally does for me.

"Raina~" he cooed. "You are so pretty."

"I'm not." I state, keeping my eyes on the road.

"I'm so lucky to have you."

"Stop, Jay." I command, tightening my hands around the steering wheel.

But he didn't stop. Jay kept mumbling about how glad he is that we are together, and that he doesn't want to mess things up.

Once we finally reached his house, I asked for the house keys. He fumbled inside of his pocket, handing them over to me.

I guided him up to the door, helping him inside.
I then walk into his bedroom, picking out some comfortable clothes for him.

"What are those?" He asks, rubbing his eyes.

"Clothes for you to change into." I answer, nodding my head towards them.

He walks over, laying on the bed. I furrow my eyes while watching him.

"Jay, you need to change." I answer, throwing the clothes at him.

"I don't feel like it. Will you do it for me?" He complains.

"Are you serious?" I blurt. "You can dress yourself."

"No, I can't." He whines.

"Jay, just put the clothes on. I'm going to get you some water."

"I'm not thirsty."

"I don't care, it's to help you get sober." I explain and then walk out the room.

I get him water and a pain reliever, for once he gets a headache from all of the alcohol that he drank.

I walk back into his room to find that he had changed his clothes like I asked.

"Good boy," I joke and give him the glass of water.
He grins, taking it happily.

After a few minutes of sipping on the water, he surprisingly seemed to be back to normal. I smiled, observing him.

"Thanks for helping me," he says sincerely. "I don't know why I went so crazy tonight."

"It's okay," I state while pulling back the covers. "But you should sleep."

He nods in agreement, leaning back in the bed. I pull the covers over his body and make sure that he is comfortable.

"You're staying, right?" He asks, a worried look flashing through his eyes.

"Hmm, if you want me to." I ponder.
I wasn't really planning on leaving him alone in this state. But I didn't want to just invite myself into his home.

"Yes, please." He begs. I felt like I was looking at a little boy who was afraid of the dark. It's not a regular thing to see him so vulnerable.

"Okay," I answer, kissing his forehead.

"You missed," He mumbled.
I tilt my head to one side. "My lips are down here." He explains, pointing to his mouth.

I roll my eyes, pecking his thick lips. He responds immediately, but I pull away quickly. I wasn't in the mood for things to escalate tonight. I have a feeling that he would take everything a bit too far.

I pull away to see a frown on his face. "That's all I get?"

"That's all you get," I answer and turn to walk away.

"Wait, where are you going?" He asks quickly. I spin in my place to face him.

"I'm going to sleep." I state dumbly.

"You're going the wrong way, stupid." He answers. "My bed is over here."

"Oh, I was going to sleep on the couch." I say shyly.

"Tch, you're too polite. You're my girlfriend, you will not be sleeping on the couch." He answers, gesturing me towards him.

I obey, trudging over to him. He pulls me forward, causing my body to fall next to his.

"Are you sure?" I ask cautiously.

"Oh, right!" He yells. I flinch back at his sudden change in tone. "I forgot that you can't sleep in front of other people."

"Yeah..." I trail off. But for some reason, I felt comfortable in his bed.

"I can sleep on the couch if it makes you feel better." He answers, playing with my hair.

"No, it's okay. I will sleep next to you." I blurt.

I was expecting for him to question if it, but he didn't. He pulled me closer into his arms.

In his strong grip I felt safe. Even if it means I won't be able to sleep tonight.
