I never understood boys, let alone Andrew Cole. He was the most confusing of them all, leader of bozo's. My phone vibrates and I look to see my mother has texted,

Mom (Shayla) : Tell your dad I'm coming to get the last of my stuff.

Remi : Sure Shayla, maybe I'll tell him about the money you stole from me.

Mom (Shayla) : I'll text him myself. Have a good day.

I toss my phone on the floor and hug my leopard and close my eyes.

I awake to taps on my window, I sit up and walk to my window and I see Sky throwing rocks. I open my window,

"Sky Mortar, what did I tell you about throwing rocks at my window?" I ask gathering all the rocks she threw

"I was worried, you weren't answering your phone." She says

I toss the rocks and grab my phone off the floor,

I go back to the window,

"Twelve times?" I question

"Come down!" She smiled

I close my window and open my door, I walk down the hall and see my brothers room door open. I creep towards the door and peek my head inside and see Zena, in my brothers room, I walk inside,

"Get out." I demand

She looks over at me astonished,

"Young lady, your father told me to make myself at home." She says

"Get out of his god damn room!" I yell

"Remi!" My dad exclaims

I look over quickly to my father who stood in the doorway,

"I'm so sorry Zena. She never acts up like this." My dad says walking in and comforting her

"Both of you get out of his damn room!" I yell

My dad rushes out with Zena and I fall to the floor in tears, I look around his room and flashes of memories hit me all at once.

I stand up and get out closing the door behind me,

"I'm sorry Koa. I'll come back soon." I say putting my hand on his door,

I go back into my room and pack a bag of clothes, my wallet, and my phone and chargers, I open my window and throw it out along with my shoes. I go out of my room and close my window,

"Remi?" I hear Sky say

"Present." I reply

I slide down my roof and onto the tree outside my window. I jump down and Sky looks at me.

"What." I ask putting on my shoe

"What happened?" She asks

"She went into his room." I say

I stand up and grab my bag and put my phone in my pocket.

"Did you say bye at least?" Sky asks

"To Koa, yeah." I walk to her car and sit inside

Sky drive down to Carthy's Cafe,

We both walk in and see Mr. Carthy,

"There they are! I told you Mabel they always come." Mr. Carthy says

"Aiden sometimes they want something new! You never know." Mrs. Carthy exclaims

Sky and I laugh and walk up to the married couple,

"Excuse Mable. She woke up on the wrong side this morning." Mr. Carthy laughs

"Imagine being married to this man for thirty years, you'd always wake up on the wrong side." Mrs. Carthy rolls her eyes

"Go ahead and seat yourselves girls, I'll be there in a second." Mr. Carthy laughs

Sky and I walk to our usual table and I see a family reading Koa's shrine,

"So, Redley huh?" Sky says

"I told him to go back to how he was." I reply

She frowns,

"Is it cause of—"

"Please don't Sky. It's too soon." I say

"Two years Remi, that's too soon?" She asks

"Hayden is gone, Remi. Why are you so worried they'll end up like him?" Sky exclaims

I stay quiet,

Mr. Carthy places our food down along with our check and I grab my sandwich.

I get to second period and sit in my assigned seat and hear whispers fly around the room,

"I heard she fucked him at Crook's party" a girl says

All of the remarks were followed by shushes,

I sit in my seat,

"How was it?" I feel a tap on my shoulder

I turn around to see queen bee, Ella White,

"What are you talking about White." I roll my eyes

"You and Marcus of course." She smiles coming around to the side of my desk

I turn around and do our class warm up,

"I suppose it's true?" She asks

I roll my eyes,

"I bet you like my leftovers, huh." I say

She screams angrily

"Shut up Remi Mallas." Ella slams her hands on my desk

"Make me." I say and continuing my work

I look at her and watch as frustration builds and she storms away,

Then the infamous Mr. Redley joins the class,

"Cole!" Ella says happily

"Hey El." Andrew Cole says walking to his desk behind me

Twenty minutes and a folded paper lands on my desk, I wait for my teacher to leave for the bathroom. A few more minutes pass and I open it and see words neatly written,

Mallas, meet me after class by my locker.

First off, he's not even in this class. Second, what the hell does eighteen even mean? Does he mean the year or am I wrong? I bet it's Ella, she's trying to make me out to be some type of fool. Well, guess what Ella I'm not falling for your shit.

I crumble the paper and get up for the trash,

"Damn Mallas, you hella thick!" Xander O'Connor exclaims

I look at him in disgust,

"I don't blame Marcus for tappin' that ass." He says and bites his lips

"You have some nerve Xander." Andrew Cole says

I roll my eyes and go sit in my desk,

"Oh and you're one to talk, right Cole?" Xander replies

I turn around to face Andrew Cole before he has time to respond,

"Stop. You don't need to fend for me, I'm a big girl. I can handle it." I say

Andrew Cole rolls his eyes and looks back down at his paper.

I turn back around and see Ella laughing at my struggle. The time flies and soon I walk home,

"I'm finally alone." I groan

"Remi, wait up!" I hear Sky shout

I roll my eyes and continue walking,

"What part of wait up do you not understand?" She asks

"All of it, is it not obvious?" I reply

Sky grabs my wrist and pulls me back the opposite direction,

"Sky let go, I need to go home." I say

"You have to see this!" She says and starts to run

We make it back to the school and she pulls me to see a flyer that hangs on the announcement board,

"Dance team is back this year!" Sky squeals

"Yeah, I know." I laugh

"Did they tell you already?" Sky pouts

"I got pulled out first period, they told me o can be captain again if I make it past cheer tryouts." I reply

"Why cheer?" She gives a look of disgust

"Cause I can't audition for myself, and both cheer and dance are going to be at the games so it only makes sense." I say

"You'll make it." Sky says

"I know." I turn around and start to jog,

"Way to be humble about it." Sky says jogging with me

"Right?" I say sarcastically

"So when is try outs?" She asks

"Mine is tomorrow after school, after I get in team tryouts will be on Friday after school and Saturday at eleven thirty to twelve thirty." I say slowing down

Soon it was Friday and I was holding tryouts with Zoe, a girl that was on the team two years ago, and Sky, I walk over to the door with a clipboard of all the names and open it to reveal a crowd of fourty to fifty people,

"Laura Adelas, you're up first." I shout

A short girl, about 5'2 walks to the doors and smiles, I walk away from the door and back to my seat,

"The music please." She says

The music plays,

I always hate people auditioning, it's an hour process, thirty second to a minute of mostly terrible dancers,

The list goes on and I can already tell by Sky and Zoe's look that they would all be denied, the next day rolls around and we're at the ends of the lists we've seen a few great dancers, recruitment will be tough this year,

"Ella White." I yell

The "queen bee" steps into the room and I can tell by Sky and Zoe's face that this would be a tough call, we all knew she was a competing cheerleader,

"It's too early for her shit." Zoe whines quietly

"As co-captains, I expect you both to act reasonable and respectful. Meaning we don't deny her because we hate her guts, we give her a shot and if she reaches my standards, she's in." I say strictly

"This is why I hate you Remi." Sky rolls her eyes

"When ever you're ready." I sit back in my seat

"Music." She says

The music plays and surprisingly she aces the combination that I choreographed count for count, the music ends shortly after and I clap my hands together,

"Thank you. The results will be up on Wednesday next week." I dismiss her,

Soon it was time to go and we start stacking chairs,

"Excuse me?" I hear

I turn around to see a girl standing there with her hand on the gym door,

"What's up?" Zoe says

"I apologize for being late, but is it too late to audition?" The girl asks

"Yeah actually we were just—"

"What's your name?" I say interrupting Sky

"Remi, auditions are closed it's already one." Sky says

"You're not the captain Sky. You can leave if you wish and I'll catch up with you." I say

Sky rolls her eyes and unstacks the chairs,

"Come on in, what's your name?" I ask

"Becca VonWells." She says

I find her name and I sit back in my seat,

"Whenever you're ready." I say

She walks herself to the middle and nods her head at me,

"Sky." I say

Sky starts the music and I'm astonished at the start, she continues to dance and the musics ends as fast as it started,

I rub my face and smile,

"Wow, alright. Uhm..results will be up next week Wednesday." I say standing up

"Thank you for your time." She says and walks out

"Let's get out of here, we need to start getting this team together." I say
