It's a week since the walking home incident, it's now November. Andrew Cole texted me a few time, just asking about school work, which is strange because he doesn't do his work. He's tried talking to me a few time this week also, I ignored him though.

"Earth to Remi Mallas?" Sky questions

"Huh?" I question

"Dude what's wrong?" She asks

"Nothing. Just thinking." I say and smile

"About? You're not usually this quiet." She says and throws a pillow at my face

"Nothing that concerns you." I laugh

"Koa?" She questions

I take a deep breath,

"I miss him." I frown

"We all do." Sky frowns also

"Girls! Dinner is ready!" I hear from downstairs

I walk down the stairs and to the kitchen table to see a brunette woman sitting in the seat my brother sat in,

"Remi who is that?" Sky whispers in my ear

"I don't know." I reply also in a whisper

"Papa?" I question

My dad walks around the corner,

"Oh good! I'd like to introduce you to someone." My dad smiles and goes over to the lady

"Remi, this is my girlfriend Zena." My dad smiles

The lady gets up and turns around, she smiles so innocently not know who's seat that was. Who last sat in that seat, and my father doesn't say a word. I felt a ball forming in my throat, even my own mother knows not to sit there. Everyone knows not to sit in his seat.

"Remi?" Sky asks

"She sat in his seat." I reply

"Remi, honey. Come introduce yourself." My dad smiles nervously

I walk up to the lady and hold my hand out,

"Remi Mallas." I say

"Zena Emmet" She smiles rudely

I put my hand down and grab my dad's wrist and pull him outside leaving Zena and Sky, I close the door and let go and turn away from my dad,

"Remi?" My dad questions

"She sat in his seat." I say with a load of attitude

"She didn't know." My dad explains

"You didn't bother to tell her?" I ask

"It's just a seat Remi." My dad says

"It's just a seat?" I turn around angrily

"So you're telling me, the spot my dead brother sat in for the last eighteen years of his life, the seat he ate his last meal, is just a seat?" I exclaim

"Remi I—I didn't mean it like that!"

"Sure you didn't papa." I say and brush past him and open the door,

"Sky lets go." I call

Sky walks out to her car and we both go inside.

Sky and I make it to her house and we walk inside, her older brother Rain was on the couch watching Spongebob. Sky has a dream family, two wealthy parents, three wonderful children, a playful golden retriever, a gorgeous house. Everything I wish I had.

"Hey Rain." I greet

"Oh the spawn of Satan is here!" He announces

He gets up and gives me a side hug and ruffles my hair, then in one quick movement I was in a headlock

"Leave her alone Rain." Sky says

Rain let's me go and I punch his chest,

"Why has she had a rough day?" He teased

"Yes I have actually. Someone sat in Koa's seat." I say

Rain frowns,

"We all miss him Remi, I know how that feels." Rain says sadly

Rain, Koa, Sky, and I were all good friends. We all used to hang out every weekend and it was our things. Then when Koa died it all just went along with him.

"Remi let's go upstairs."

I follow Sky upstairs and see her little sister sitting alone on her window seat, I walk inside,

"Hey Storm." I sit next to her

"Hi Remi." She pouted

"Why the long face?" I ask

"The guy I liked moved down to Washington." She winds up her yo-yo

"More will come Stormy, don't worry about guys so much. You're only ten, focus on who you want to be when you're older." I pat her shoulder and walk out of her room

I go into Sky's room and she's laying on her bed,

"It's seven o'clock, are you really going to bed?" I question

She hums,

"Well I'm going to the cafe then. You know where to find me." I walk out of her room and out the door.

I walk inside and to the back of the diner and look at the shrine for my brother. I hear murmurs around the cafe and I look around, they're all staring at me.

"Back again Remi?" Mr. Carthy asks

"It gets harder and harder every day Mr. Carthy." I reply

"Remi, you know you can call me Aiden." He says

"I know Mr. Carthy." I sit down in the booth his shrine was in.

"He was going to run this place." Mr. Carthy taps the wall,

I nod,

"You want your usual?" He asks

I nod and stare at my brothers shrine. He had it all, a well paying job at our local cafe. Captain of the soccer team, and a straight A B student his whole life. Smart, funny, and supposedly charming. He had it all really, he didn't do bad in anything.

"Is this seat taken?" A voice asks

"Just go Andrew Cole." I say

"Rem—"

"Andrew Cole just go back to how you were before." I demand

"What do you mean?" He asks

I look at him in the eyes,

"I don't need your protection. You aren't my body guard, I can handle myself just fine." I look into his ice blue and grey eyes

"Je serai toujours là pour toi ." He says and walks away

"Lucky you hmm?" Mr. Carthy questions putting my chicken breast sub on the table

"What do you mean?" I ask

"I forgot, only your brother understood him when I spoke I french." He laughs to himself

"Tell me Mr. Carthy, what did he say?" I put the sub in my mouth

"Well if he said it in a foreign language you don't understand, he doesn't want you to find out." Mr. Carthy laughs and walks away

I lift the sub to my mouth and take a bite.
