Chapter 11
The next couple days were spent with Carys showing Lux what she could do with the force, her drawing pictures, or her showing him around the base. They were complete bliss for Lux. He got to spend all day with his daughter with no distractions. He wanted to tell her so bad the truth, but he knew he couldn't, at least not yet.
This was the sixth day since Ahsoka and the rest of the Ghost Crew had left, and Lux was starting to grow a bit worried. The base hadn't received any communications from them since they left. Lux knew Ahsoka was strong and could handle herself, but he still worried about her and the others.
"Good morning Mr. Lux," Carys chirped opening the door to his bedroom.
"Just Lux, Carys. I've told you that," Lux replied smiling. He got up from the desk in his room and walked over to her.
"I know, but my mommy taught me to be formal."
"Well that's not necessarily a bad thing, but if someone tells you to call them by something else, you can."
"Okay Lux."
Lux took a look at the young girl, and it seemed as though she was bursting with excitement. Lux raised an eyebrow. "What are you planning?"
Carys let out a giggle. "I have something to show you today," Carys said excitedly.
"Well what are we waiting for then?" Lux asked. However, before Carys could respond, her stomach gave a loud growl. The two just stared at each other for a second before bursting out laughing. "Come on, let's get you something to eat real quick."
Lux walked over to the cupboard and opened it to reveal a box of cereal. He grabbed a bowl from the other cupboard and placed it on the table. After he poured the cereal into the bowl, Lux grabbed the blue milk from the fridge and poured it into the bowl. (PSA if you put the milk in before the cereal, you are the scum of the Earth)
"Thanks Lux," Carys said sitting down at the table. She began to eat, but stopped and looked at Lux. "Aren't you going to eat something too?"
"No, I don't eat breakfast," Lux replied.
"Why not? Mommy says it's the most important meal of the day."
"I dunno," Lux shrugged, "I'm just never hungry when I wake up."
"Oh," was all Carys said before she continued eating. Lux just sat there watching her in silence, soaking in the time he was getting to spend with her.
It only took Carys a few minutes to finish. She took the bowl and placed it in the sink, next to all the other dirty dishes. "Mommy's not gonna be very happy when she gets home and sees all the dirty dishes," Carys said with a giggle.
Lux winced thinking about the scolding he would receive from the togruta when she returned. "Yea... but it's not my fault I don't know how to do dishes. I've never had to do them in my life," Lux replied in his defense. "Now, what is it that you want to show me?" He asked quickly changing the subject.
A smile flashed across Carys's face. "It's a surprise!" She shouted eagerly. "Come on!" She grabbed Lux's arm and started to drag him out of the house.
Once they were outside the house, Carys took a sharp right turn. Lux looked up and saw they were headed right towards the motion sensors. A look of sheer fear washed over his face, surely she wasn't taking him off base, right?
"Uhhh Carys... where are we going?" Lux asked with a hint of fear in his voice.
"Out there," Carys responded calmly pointing off base.
"B-b-b-but wh-what about th-th-the K-Krykna?" Lux could no longer conceal his fear. the stories he had been told about what they could do scared him to death. He had no intention of that being how he went out, despite how much Ahsoka may want him to.
Carys just giggled though. "There's nothing to fear if you know what to do."
"You have the force, I have my fists. I can't connect to them like you can."
"It's okay, they can sense your fear, so as long as you're not scared, they'll leave you alone."
Lux scoffed. "Easier said then done," he muttered.
"Now come on scaredy pants," Carys said before running off beyond the base."
Lux took a deep breath. If a child wasn't afraid of them, certainly he could make it through. Lux took a hesitant step off the base, and squeezed his eyes shut. Upon opening them, he saw that nothing had happened, in fact there wasn't even a Krykna in sight. All he saw was Carys standing about twenty yards away with her hands on her hips waiting for him.
"See, nothing to be afraid of," she said snippily. She definitely got her attitude from her mother.
"Yea I guess not," Lux responded sheepishly. He ran to catch up to her. "Now let's go, I wanna see what this surprise is."
"Okay, follow me!" Carys shouted with a smile.

"Are we there yet?" Asked an exhausted Lux. They had been walking for almost two hours at this point, and frankly Lux's body wasn't cut out for this kind of stuff anymore.
Carys rolled her eyes. This was the fifth time he had asked in the last ten minutes. "Yes, it's right up here."
The two reached a cave and Carys made her way inside. Lux hesitated, but ultimately followed the young girl inside. Once inside he was amazed. Contrary to how it looked outside, it was brightly illuminated by glowing crystals.
"Woah..." was all Lux was able to get out. "It-it's amazing..."
"Yea I found this a while back when I got bored and went exploring. Since then I come here often. It's strong with the force and gives off a soothing presence."
Lux walked to the wall and touched one of the crystals. "What kind of crystals are these?"
Carys shrugged. "I don't know, but whatever they are they're very pretty and bright."
"You got that right," Lux said with a chuckle. "Does anyone else know this place exists?"
"Nope. Just me and you. I haven't even told mommy about it."
Lux smiled. Carys just shared one of her secrets with him. She trusted him with it before she even trusted Ahsoka. Lux knew they were starting to form a bond, and knew Ahsoka wasn't going to like that very much, but he couldn't give a flying kriff. Carys was as much his blood as she was Ahsoka's, he deserved to spend time with his daughter.
Lux was broke from his thoughts when the pair heard a hoot. Lux looked up to see a white and green convor fly into the cave above them. It flew over to Carys and landed on her outstretched hand.
"Lux, this is Morai. Morai, this is Lux," Carys introduced. The convor flew over to Lux and landed on his shoulder, nuzzling up against Lux.
"Uhh hi Morai," Lux greeted scrathing under the bird's neck.
"She really seems to like you," Carys pointed out.
"Yea. I wonder why?"
"Well she's connected to mommy. As she explains, she owes Morai her life. She follows mommy around watching over and protecting her, and it seems as though she does the same with me. Maybe she knows that you and mommy were friends, so she liked you too."
"Yea... maybe." Now that Carys had mentioned it, Lux remembered seeing the convor before when he and Ahsoka had been together. At the time he had just brushed it off as some bird native to Ithor. Hopefully it didn't hold a grudge like Ahsoka.
Morai flew off of Lux's shoulder and deeper into the cave. "Come on, let's follow her," Carys said following the bird. Lux reluctantly followed as well. He didn't think going deeper into a cave was a good idea, but he had no choice. He had to stay with Carys.
After a few minutes of walking, Morai perched itself on a ledge and hooted a few times. "What is it Morai?" Carys asked.
The convor hooted a few more times and used its wing to point towards the wall. Suddenly the wall disappeared, being replaced by an image of Chopper Base.
"What the kriff?" Lux muttered under his breath.
Carys didn't say anything, but walked towards the portal and stepped through. Lux hesitantly followed behind her. When the two stepped out they were back at the base, right by the house.
"WHERE THE HELL ARE THEY!?!?!" The two heard someone shout.
"Shit..." Lux muttered.
Carys, however, reacted completely differently. "Mommy!" She called sprinting into the house.
Instead of going into the house, Lux decided his best option was to go anywhere else and allow Ahsoka to cool down before talking to her.
