FADE IN:

INT. OFFICE ROOM – LATE NIGHT

LEE KNOW: Problem? Sir?

Y/n freezes. She swivels around her chair holding a finger up. She smiles unaffected at a puzzled Lee Know while her heart trembles inside.

Y/N [INTO PHONE]: Sir, I'm sorry I can't help you.

She mouths the words 'It's Kim Won Hae.' This has no affect on Lee Know.

Y/N [INTO PHONE]: Yes sir. I understand. Yes...

She covers her phone.

Y/N: He drunk dialed me. I had to take his call, he's my former boss.

Lee Know doesn't look pleased.

Y/N [INTO PHONE]: Sorry Sir, I've to go.

She cuts the call.

Y/N: Sorry.

LEE KNOW: You shouldn't be talking to him.

Y/N: I'm sorry. Won't happen again.

She puts her head down – Please don't kill me.

LEE KNOW: Be ready, at 6 am, we're going to the beach.

Y/n's facial expressions crash and burn.

Y/N: Excuse me- Why?

LEE KNOW: Calm down. It's not only the two of us.

He walks away.

Y/N: The wha- Dude-I mean, Lee-

Lee Know peeks in again.

LEE KNOW: Don't be late, it's important.

And with that he leaves. Y/n stares confused.

CUT TO:

EXT. BEACH – DAY

Y/n stands still, her mouth wide open as she stares amazed.

Y/N: We're cleaning all of this?

Han smiles as he nods.

Y/N: We're cleaning the whole beach?!

She looks at Bang Chan and Lee Know picking up trash on the beach a few meters away.

CHANG BIN: Come on! Get to it already.

He forces a trash bag and a trash picker into Y/n's grip.

CHANG BIN: Come on! Get moving!

He pushes Y/n ahead.

Y/N: Fine I'm going. I'm going.

She picks up strewn cans and covers and drops it in her trash bag. – Am I working for an NGO or a gang? What the hell is happening?

2 HOURS LATER:

Y/N: I'm done! Huh!

She falls on the sand exhausted, her back and arms sore.

CHANG BIN: Y/n!!!

She sighs and sits up – What?

CHANG BIN: Get cleaned up. The others will be here soon.

Y/n fakes a smile and gets on her feet, swaying.

CUT TO:

EXT. COUPLE OF HOURS LATER - THE BEACH – AFTERNOON

It's a JBG carnival - stalls are set and JBG members are manning the booths serving free lip-smacking food and drinks to the local towns people. Game stalls have been set up for enthusiasts of all ages. The beach is filled with laughter and loud chatter.

CHANG BIN: Why's she with us again?

Y/n walks over with water bottles for everyone. She hands one each to Bang Chan, Lee Know, Han, Chang Bin and Jun Ho.

JUN HO: Chang Bin, enough.

Chang Bin puts his head down as Jun Ho walks toward the stalls.

CHANG BIN: Well, that wasn't awkward.

HAN: And who's fault is that?

CHANG BIN: Oh, shut up.

LEE KNOW: Come on, guys. Do you really have to do this today?

Y/n looks at Lee Know.

Y/N: I've been meaning to ask.

She points to the stalls behind her.

Y/N: What is all this?

CHANG BIN: Tch. Tch. Tch. You don't even know this? Aish, I should just get rid of y-

BANG CHAN: At least for today, Chang Bin.

Chang Bin sighs and controls his rant.

BANG CHAN: It's my mom's death anniversary.

Y/n's eyes widen, she looks back surprised.

Y/N: What? Sorry...

Y/n's head dips to her right – Wait.

Y/N: Then why this?

HAN: This is how we celebrate the life our former leader lived. Well, we have to, it's in her will.

He smiles, reminiscing the good old times.

BANG CHAN: Mom hated the idea of sad ceremonies. She was more scared of those than death.

Y/N: Oh...

LEE KNOW: Every year, we organize an event, in honor of the life she's lead and also the lives that continue to thrive thanks to her.

This is new and confusing to Y/n – You're the most feared gang in Asia. How? Why?

Y/N [MUTTERS]: Is everyone wrong about you?

Lee Know and Han, the only ones who hear this, exchange glances.

CUT TO:

EXT. BEACH – NIGHT

The sun has set. The bon fire rages. The carnival has ended and the tiered JBG members have gathered around for a late dinner. The new leader of JBG and his core team serve food to the hungry and loud members.

After they're done, they grab their own trays of food and settle on a table. All except Y/n.

HAN: That's mine.

He shoves Chang Bin's chopsticks off a side dish.

CHANG BIN: Can you see your name on it?

Bang Chan looks around for Y/n. He finds her, along the waves, busy on her phone.

BANG CHAN: Excuse me.

He stands and walks toward Y/n.

CHANG BIN: Where are you going?

CUT TO:

Y/n's on her phone.

JAE MYUNG [OVER PHONE]: You aren't there to have fun.

Y/N [INTO PHONE]: Yes sir.

JAE MYUNG [OVER PHONE]: You do realize this is a very important mission, we don't have room to make mistakes.

Y/n looks down.

JAE MYUNG [OVER PHONE]: We can't delay detaining Lee Know.

Y/N [INTO PHONE]: I'll get it done soon sir...yes. Yes...

She hangs up and sighs, the weight on her shoulders getting unbearable to carry.

BANG CHAN: Y/n.

He calls from a few steps away, concerned. Hearing his voice, Y/n instantly turns around and bows. Bang Chan wasn't expecting such a quick response.

BANG CHAN: That was fast.

Y/n straightens.

Y/N [EMBARRASED]: Was it?

BANG CHAN: Yeah. I've never seen someone react to my words so quickly.

Y/N: It's um...like...um...my ear, it is tuned to the frequency of your...voice.

She smiles, and then wipes it off realizing she spoke those words out loud. Bang Chan's brows raise, amused.

Y/N: You did not need to know that.

Bang Chan smiles.

BANG CHAN: It's fine...

He looks around, deciding to bring up something that he has been meaning to say.

BANG CHAN: I'm sorry about your sister.

Y/n freezes, completely rock solid – No.

Y/N: You-You know...about her?

BANG CHAN: Yes. She worked for my mom for a few months before going abroad... she really helped out even though she... you don't need to know the details for now.

Y/N: Oh.

BANG CHAN: She didn't tell you about working for us?

Y/N: Um... She's worked with a lot of gangs; it was hard to keep track...

She looks down, trying to hide her glassy eyes.

BANG CHAN: We have a cheeky saying here. "Once a member always a member."

Getting a hint of what he's about to say, Y/n looks up – No way.

BANG CHAN: I'm going to find out what happened to her.

Y/N: W-What?

BANG CHAN: I want to get to the bottom of this, find out what actually happened and why it happened.

Y/N: No. No. You shouldn't-I couldn't ask for th-

BANG CHAN: You deserve to know what happened.

Y/n's lost for words.

BANG CHAN: You'll end up regretting it if you don't. Trust me, I've experienced it.

Y/n stares both flustered and touched.

BANG CHAN: And this is not a favor. No favors in family.

HAN [FROM AFAR]: Bang Chan! Dude, it's gonna start soon come on!

Bang Chan glances back at him and nods. He looks at Y/n.

BANG CHAN: I'm here if you ever want to talk.

Y/n nods. He smiles, reassuringly and walks away leaving her feeling a universe of emotions.

CUT TO:

EXT. ACROSS THE BEACH – NIGHT

The members are all huddled together on the beach, on mats and sheets. A projector has been set up in front displaying the traditional PPT – JBG OVER THE YEARS.

A very nostalgic feeling floats around in the air as photographs of the past leaders' flashes on the screen accompanied with upbeat music. Bang Chan and his core team are seated in the very back.

MEMBER: UGLY!

Someone yells from the crowd as a photograph of Chang Bin and Han is displayed. Everyone chuckles.

CHANG BIN: Who let us dress like that? THAT'S A CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY!

Bang Chan laughs, he misses his mother even more now that he's seen her photographs. Lee Know laughs his heart out but stops as something catches his attention.

It's Y/n, she's still near the waves.

LEE KNOW [CONFUSED]: Is she crying?

The rest of the group turns and looks at Y/n, she's wiping the tears of her face with her sleeves.

LEE KNOW: Y/n?

CHANG BIN: Why the hell is she crying? She doesn't even know our late boss-

Han elbows him.

HAN: Stop! You broke her. I told you to stop being so hard on her.

Chang Bin's offended.

CHANG BIN: When did I-

HAN: Shut up.

BANG CHAN: She lost her sister.

The guys stare at her, poor Y/n who has no idea they're all watching her cries her heart out like an 8-year-old, mourning her sister.

CUT TO:

EXT. NONDISCRIPT APARTMENT BUILDING – NIGHT

The cars pull over in front of the building. Bang Chan, Y/n, Lee Know, Han, Chang Bin and Jun Ho climb out looking exhausted. Lee Know catches up with Y/n, who's walking the slowest.

LEE KNOW: Are you okay?

Y/N: Huh? Yeah. Why?

Lee Know stares – Why?

LEE KNOW: Just asking.

Y/n nods.

LEE KNOW: Like Bang Chan said, we have therapists-

Y/N: I'm really fine.

Lee Know looks away.

Y/N: Are you worried...about me?

LEE KNOW: Of course, I am.

Y/n's eyes widen.

Y/N: Why?

LEE KNOW: What do you mean why? You're our strategist, we need you to be on top of your game.

Y/N: I know that too but...you've been really kind...it's not bad. I'm not saying it is...

Lee Know understands what she's saying and waves gesturing her to stop.

LEE KNOW: The logic is simple. I care about Bang Chan, Bang Chan cares about you, hence I care about you.

He points at himself and at Y/n, who's been caught off guard.

LEE KNOW: Same way. I trust Bang Chan, Bang Chan trusts you, hence I trust you. Completely.

Y/n tries to understand the formula in her head.

Y/N: Oh.

LEE KNOW: Simple. Right?

His arms drop as Y/n absorbs the implications of what he said.

LEE KNOW: Good job today, see you tomorrow.

Y/N: Thank you.

She bows as Lee Know throws his blazer over his shoulder. He takes a step forward and stops feeling the vibration of his phone receiving a notification. Y/n's phone pings at the same time.

Lee Know retrieves his phone and reads the notification that makes his eyes widen. He looks back at Y/n who hasn't understood the meaning of the message.

LEE KNOW: It's bad news.

CUT TO:

INT. JAE MYUNG'S OFFICE – NIO HQ - EVENING

Seung Min walks in and realizes Jae Myung isn't in his office. He walks toward the desk with a report in his hand.

SEUNG MIN: I'll just leave it here.

He places it on the desk when the computer screen switches on, catching Seung Min's gaze. The title of the document that's been left open, reads – GBJ.

Seung Min's eyebrows raise – JBG? He reads it again and shakes his head.

SEUNG MIN: I've been working on the JBG case so hard that I'm starting to see it everywhere... I'm finally going crazy.

He shrugs his tense shoulders and walks to the door; his hand grips the knob but he stops, realizing something. His eyebrows furrow as he looks back at the computer – Wait a minute. GBJ?

CUT TO:

INT. BANG CHAN'S OFFICE – NIGHT

Gathered at the desk, Bang Chan, Lee Know, Han and Chang Bin look stressed but not as much as Y/n, who's heart can explode any moment.

BANG CHAN: Agent?

LEE KNOW: We have intel saying contact was made with NIO from this building.

CHANG BIN: What're we waiting for, we should initiate our seize protocol!

Y/n anxiously fiddles with her fingers under the table.

HAN: This is serious.

BANG CHAN: If there's an agent in this building, they've would've arrested all of us by now.

LEE KNOW: Exactly. Why haven't they?

All eyes land on Y/n.

CHANG BIN: Why're you so quiet?

Y/n flinches.

Y/N: I'm listening.

Chang Bin glares at Y/n.

CHANG BIN: You're the mole, aren't you?

Y/N [YELLS]: I'M NOT!

CHANG BIN: See! You got so defensive! It's obvious!

Y/N: I'M NOT THE MOLE!

CHANG BIN: Yes, you are! Admit it!

Y/N: I'm not!

HAN: Enough. Enough! Now's not the time for this.

Lee Know looks at Y/n. He senses something's up with her, he's suddenly suspicious of Y/n, the person he thought he trusted completely.

BANG CHAN: We have bigger things to worry about. This is not the first time they've come after us.

Y/n nods, she feels obligated to.

BANG CHAN: We need to focus on our present goal. We'll deal with the amateur agents when they become a problem.

LEE KNOW: Got it.

CHANG BIN: You're right. It's not like their agents have gotten any better. They're still the idiots they were when the first started.

All gazes flick to Y/n as Bang Chan folds his arms.

BANG CHAN: When is the sale going through?

It takes a few seconds for Y/n to understand that he's talking about the land deal.

Y/N: By the end of this week.

HAN: How much are you expecting to make?

Y/N: 15 billion won.

Chang Bin chokes on his saliva.

LEE KNOW: How?

Y/N: It's good land. At least for Lee Chen Wei, who wants it to build his 5-star medical resort with a world class golf course.

She looks around the room, all expect Bang Chan are unsure of what she's saying.

Y/N: You should read the financial times once in a while.

Bang Chan smiles.

Y/n eases – Maybe now you won't think of me as the mole.

BANG CHAN: After we get the money, what's next?

Y/n gathers her thoughts and sits straighter.

Y/N: Well.

She points at Bang Chan.

CHANG BIN: What do you mean?!

HAN: Calm down-

Y/N [TO BANG CHAN]: We have to do something about you.

CHANG BIN: YA! You want to die?!

He jumps off his chair, Han holds him back.

Y/N: Will you hear me out?

CHANG BIN: Put the finger down!

Y/N: Stop interrupting! Let me explain.

LEE KNOW: You better be quick.

Y/n refocuses, she looks at Lee Know.

Y/N: It's time...

Her eyes narrow, now transformed into the eyes of sheer determination.

Y/N: I... prove Bang Chan's innocence.
