FADE IN:

INT. BANG CHAN'S OFFICE – LATE NIGHT

It's just Y/n and Bang Chan in the office. She holds her composure as Bang Chan stares into her eyes.

BANG CHAN: I'm not convinced.

Y/N: It's possible to prove your innocence. I believe I can do it.

Bang Chan folds his arms, his gaze boring further into her.

BANG CHAN: This is not about whether you can or cannot do this. It's about the chances of this working out.

Y/n stays steady.

Y/N: I know appealing cases aren't as easy as people think they are. I also know the chances of our case getting an appeal is low, very low.

BANG CHAN: Then?

Y/N: I also believe you had the wrong lawyer.

BANG CHAN: Who just happened to be one of the top lawyers in Korea?

Y/N: Yes.

BANG CHAN: If this doesn't work, our gang is done for. The things we're trying to keep under the covers can get revealed in this trial.

Y/N: Everything I do, is to make this gang legit. I have taken all of the risks into account, and have come up with this strategy.

BANG CHAN: This trial isn't only about me. If I lose, then every member of JBG loses a chance of a better life. Do you think you can handle that responsibility?

Y/N: I believe I've proven my worth, more than once, for you to trust me.

BANG CHAN: So?

Y/n bites the insides of her cheeks.

Y/N: The lawyer, that I believe can help you, is on his way. The choice is yours. It's up to you if you want to hire him or not.

Bang Chan stares at her for a long time. Undeterred, Y/n stares back.

There's a quick knock and the door opens. A very confused and uncomfortable Lee Know, stands framed in the doorway.

LEE KNOW: Um...Won Hae's here...apparently, he has an appointment... ...I should just tell him to go back, right-

BANG CHAN: Send him in.

LEE KNOW: What?

BANG CHAN: Send him in.

Lee Know's taken aback.

LEE KNOW: Ugh...Okay...Um...ok...

He closes the door behind him, his confusion at its peak.

CUT TO:

INT. CORRIDOR – JBG HQ – LATE NIGHT

Chang Bin and Han eye Won Hae with visible distrust. Won Hae getting a little uncomfortable with their stares, finds great interest in the celling.

WON HAE: Nice lights.

Lee Know enters the corridor.

LEE KNOW: You can go in.

CHANG BIN: What?!

WON HAE: Thank you.

He walks toward Bang Chan's office as quickly as he can.

CHANG BIN: Why did you let him in?

LEE KNOW: Bang Chan told me to, what was I supposed to do?

HAN: Why is he here?

CHANG BIN: He's up to something. I can tell.

LEE KNOW: I don't know. I don't know what Bang Chan's thinking.

HAN: Bang Chan always knows what he's doing. Why don't we give him a chance?

Chang Bin hates to admit it.

CHANG BIN: You're right.

Lee Know scratches the back of his head.

LEE KNOW: If Jun Ho sonbae was here, he wouldn't agree with any of this.

HAN: What're you saying... wait, where's sonbae anyways?

CHANG BIN: Shanghai, for the Blue Pelican deal.

HAN: Right.

LEE KNOW: This isn't right. Y/n's doing the wrong thing.

CHANG BIN: Shut up, she's doing the right thing. Why should Bang Chan's name be linked with such a heinous crime. Do you think he can start a business while having a criminal record?

LEE KNOW: I know! But what about the other things that will get revealed-

Y/n steps into the corridor.

HAN: Y/n!

CHANG BIN: Ya. Why is Won Hae here? Why in the world-

Y/n doesn't react, she walks past them.

HAN: What was that?

CHANG BIN: That little-Ya!

CUT TO:

INT. Y/N'S ROOM- JBG HQ – LATE NIGHT

Y/n's head is throbbing. All her energy was used up in standing up to The Bang Chan. She looks out at the corridor refusing to address the three elephants in her room, hoping they will walk out on their own.

CHANG BIN: What's Won Hae's role in all of this?

LEE KNOW: We need to know what's going on-

HAN: You can't keep this to yourself.

Y/n rubs her forehead.

CHANG BIN: Just tell us already-

Y/N: He's a lawyer! If Bang Chan allows it, Won Hae will be his lawyer.

Their jaws drop and brains explode.

CHANG BIN: What did you just say? Won H-That-Lawyer?

Lee Know's disappointed too.

LEE KNOW: What were you thinking?

Y/n ruffles her hair and slams the door shut. She looks at them with frustration.

Y/N: You guys, really need to pay attention to the people around you. Why're you so bad?

Chang Bin almost charges at her, Han holds him back.

Y/N: Like with everything, I'll explain. Did you know Golden Pig has had zero arrests ever since Won Hae took over? And do you know how many arrests JBG has had in the past 6 months?

Lee Know tries to recollect – 14.

Y/N: 14. JBG has had 14 arrests, excluding your current leader. And why is that?

CHANG BIN: Because they rat on others, that's how they avoid getting arrested themselves. Everybody knows that.

Y/n Scoffs.

Y/N: No, it's because their leader's a genius. He can prove his members innocence in the court of law even if they're actually guilty of their stupid crimes! Happy? Now leave!

Chang Bin grits his teeth.

CHANG BIN: I don't care what he can do-He's still a-

HAN: Ok. Ok. We're leaving.

Han drags a very furious Chang Bin out.

CHANG BIN: I'm not letting this slide!!

Y/N: Old news dude. I'm not scared anymore!

CHANG BIN: What?! You! I'll-

HAN: Stop-

Y/N: Kill me! I know. Go ahead, that's all you can do anyways!

She looks at Lee Know and instantly knows he doesn't trust her either.

Y/N: I know. You too. Just go.

Lee Know exits, uncertain of her decisions. Y/n slams the door shut and clutches her head.

Y/N: Aish...

She sinks to the floor. Her phone pings – A message from the Head of NIO.

Y/N: You got to be kidding me?

She reads her watch – 2.45 am.

Y/N: Aughh!

She opens the chat, with no interest in what he or anyone else has to say anymore.

MESSAGE: Tomorrow, 11 am.

She stares at her phone confused.

CUT TO:

INT. CORRIDOR – JBG HQ – DAY

Y/n clutches her phone in her hand as she steps into the corridor, her pace slows down seeing Han, Lee Know and Chang Bin chatting about something holding backpacks. They're gaze lands on Y/n and the atmosphere gets tense.

Y/N: Are you...going somewhere?

HAN: Oh? Home. We're taking a holiday.

Han's the only one who is willing to put his personal opinions to the side and have a conversation with Y/n.

Y/N: Oh.

She looks around.

Y/N: Did Bang Chan-

HAN: He hasn't come to office since last night.

Chang Bin throws glares and silent curses at Y/n.

Y/N: Ok then.

She bows to them and walks out.

CUT TO:

INT. SECRET ROOM - ?

Y/n walks into the room, her gaze landing on the concerned one's of Seung Min, Hyun Jin and I.N as they walk past her.

Y/N: Good morning, sir.

She bows to a furious looking Jae Myung seated at the head of the table. Y/n pulls out a chair for herself.

JAE MYUNG: Did I tell you to sit?

Y/n freezes.

JAE MYUNG: Whose side are you on? Theirs or ours?

Y/n's lost, she doesn't get what he means or where this anger is coming from.

JAE MYUNG: The transfer has not yet happened. You had one job, we gave you all the resources-

Y/N: It will take a little longer sir, we've set up the bait-

Jae Myung bangs the desk making Y/n flinch.

JAE MYUNG: So many reasons why you can't do your job, huh?

Y/n doesn't dare look him in the eye – Stay strong Y/n. Breathe.

JAE MYUNG: Your sister is fighting for her life. It's a miracle she's even recovering at all!

Y/n's gaze flicks lower – Recovering?

JAE MYUNG: After what they did to her, you're letting them off the hook? Huh?

He bangs the desk again. Y/n's barely holding on.

JAE MYUNG: I've been telling you we need to detain Lee Know as soon as we can, but you, for some reason, can't understand!

Y/N: I'm sorry, but there's been so much that is happenin-

Jae Myung rises from his chair.

JAE MYUNG: Hence my question Y/n...

He walks toward her, Y/n's legs beg to run away.

JAE MYUNG: Whose side are you on?

Y/N: Sir...we need to have something against them in order to arrest them, right now there's nothing. They haven't done anything wrong-

Jae Myung stands menacingly close, Y/n, scared to the core, stares at the floor.

JAE MYUNG: Do you know how many funerals of my agents I've had to attend because of JBG? Do you know how many families I had to apologize to because I couldn't protect their loved ones?

Y/n trembles with fear.

JAE MYUNG: And you say they've done nothing wrong?

He grabs a glass and throws it at Y/n, who instinctively ducks. It shatters on the wall next to her and the shards whip past her face, leaving fine cuts on her face and neck.

JAE MYUNG: Those lunatics have done nothing wrong? Huh?! Answer me?!

His right hand hurtles toward Y/n and his fingers coil around her neck.

JAE MYUNG: What kind of a human being are you? You're a piece of trash for siding with them.

He tightens his grip cutting off her airway.

Y/n struggles under his powerful grip.

JAE MYUNG: If you don't know how to respect the lives my agents sacrificed to protect idiots like you... you should just die.

SEUNG MIN: That's enough sir! She got it.

He looks at Y/n, she's in shock, trembling. Hyun Jin and I.N pull back a raging Jae Myung, Y/n falls to the floor coughing violently.

JAE MYUNG: Finish the transfer. I want Lee Know behind bars.

He shrugs off the grips of the rookie agents and storms out. Y/n, still on the floor, shivers uncontrollably.

CUT TO:

INT. LEE RESIDENCE – NIGHT

Y/n shuts the door behind her, being as quiet as she can. She removes her shoes, pale and dazed. Her fingers tremble still in shock as she makes her way to the family portrait.

Y/N: Hello Unnie.

She stares at the image of her smiling sister.

MOM: Y/n?

She switches on the light as she rubs her eyes, Y/n looks back at her mother.

Y/N: Did I wake you?

MOM: Oh no. Why're you here?

Y/N: Obviously because I missed you guys.

MOM: Liar.

She smiles and pulls Y/n to the couch.

MOM: Did something happen?

She notices the wall Y/n has put up around herself.

Y/N: Huh? No.

MOM: Is it your job? Are they putting too much pressure?

She hopes Y/n gives an honest answer.

Y/N: Not at all. It's fun. They're fun. I've always wanted to work with people like them.

Mom smiles.

MOM: That's a relief.

She takes Y/n's hands in hers.

MOM: It's hard, isn't it?

Y/n's wall cracks.

MOM: Doing all of this... I can't possibly imagine what you must be going through.

Y/n shakes her head, hiding her tears like the good daughter she is.

MOM: I want you to know how proud I am of you for being so courageous. For doing this all alone with no experience.

Y/N: Unnie did it for years, there's nothing that she can do that I can't.

They chuckle. Mom pats her head.

MOM: That's right.

She smiles, proud of her daughter.

CUT TO:

INT. Y/N'S ROOM – LEE RESIDENCE – LATE NIGHT

Y/n's changed into her pajamas, she closes the door behind her and sits at her dressing table. Y/n stares at herself in the mirror. She dabs some make up remover on to a cotton ball and wipes the makeup off her face and neck.

The more she wipes, the more her hand trembles, remembering the terrifying incident. Tears roll down her face. Her whimpers become sobs as the cuts begin to show on her face and neck and Jae Myung's fiery eyes flashes in front of her.

She pulls her pillow from the bed and presses it against her mouth, stifling the sounds as her crying intensifies – What do I do? Unnie? What do I do?

FADE OUT.
