"I TOLD YOU TO STOP!" Sydney's voice had echoed down the beach and luckily for her, there hadn't been anyone close enough to hear her screams except from Madelyn who was sitting down on the sand with Tank while she watched Sydney and Drew stand by the ocean. The two had been at it for a while, Sydney wanted to stretch her legs so decided to walk down to the water and Drew was in a mischievous mood so decided to follow her. He was standing knee deep in the salty water, Sydney was ankle deep, and he kept splashing her with the icy cold water.

"You did no such thing." Drew shot back, splashing her once again. The temperature of the water brought goosebumps to the girls skin.

Sydney shivered again. "Drew! I'm serious." It wasn't warm enough to get wet and the sun was setting so it wasn't even as though the sun would dry and warm Sydney up. Sydney absolutely hated being cold.

"Stop walking away from me then." Drew said, holding back laughter as he took another step towards the girl and watched her take a step to the side, further away from him. He didn't know what it was but he was having a lot of fun annoying Sydney, teasing her. Maybe there had been a real reason as to why, something Drew wasn't ready to admit yet.

Sydney watched as a smirk appeared on Drew's face as he kept getting closer. "No, no. Don't come near me, I mean it." Sydney said, even holding back her own laughs.

"Or what? Hmm? What you gonna do?" Drew argued back, his smirk growing. Sydney had stopped taking a step away every time he got closer so the distance between them had gotten shorter. 

The tide was coming in so the water was now close to Sydney's knees, making it harder for her to move away from Drew as fast as she had been. "Are you forgetting I did MMA fighting in High School? I'll kick your ass." Sydney told him, smirking herself, she could no doubt kick Drew's ass but in freezing cold water? Probably not.

"Ooooh I'm so scared." Drew said, his voice laced with sarcasm causing Sydney to laugh.

"You're so annoying." She groaned, splashing him herself. But this only caused him do it back to her, almost soaking her from the shoulders down. "Drew!"

Drew frowned. "What was that? Did you say something?" He pretended he didn't hear her, holding his hand up to his ear. Sydney shook her head at his actions, closing her eyes, which only allowed Drew to approach her without her knowing. He wrapped his arms straight around her waist, bending over, to then throw her over his shoulders. He held onto her legs as he heard her scream, even making Madelyn laugh who had been watching them the whole time.

"Let me go!" Sydney felt the blood rush to her head as it swung above the water. "Please." Sydney begged but laughter followed her words.

"I'm sorry I can't hear you over your laughing." Drew shouted back, walking around in the water as he laughed himself.

Madelyn, who could just about hear them from her spot on the sand, couldn't help the smile that made its way onto her face. It was clear to see that the two had a different connection than just a normal friendship. You'd have to be blind to disagree. Whether it was more than a friendship, Madelyn wasn't entirely sure but she had a hunch at least Drew saw Sydney than more than a friend.

Then the next thing Madelyn knew, after she began thinking about the two adults in the water and their feelings, Drew had dropped Sydney head first into the water and bent over with laughter. Sydney resurfaced, coughing and spitting water out of her mouth before practical launching herself at Drew and ducking him under the water for payback. Tank, who'd been lying beside Madelyn, noticed to commotion in the water and couldn't help but rush over. Tank was now splashing about in the water as Sydney and Drew tried pushing each other under.

"Don't kill him, Syd! We need him for season two!" Madelyn shouted out, laughing too, once she saw Sydney jump onto Drew's back.

"It's fine, they can just recast him!" Sydney shouted back just before Drew threw her off and once again her head had been submerged under the water.

It wasn't long before the two returned to Madelyn, both soaking wet. Sydney had a annoyed look on her face as Drew continued to laugh. He knew she wasn't really annoyed. The two were having fun and Sydney had a good day, which she hadn't had in a while.

And it wasn't that Sydney suddenly realised feelings for Drew, because she didn't think she had them, but she certainly realised that day that her and Drew's relationship was different from hers with any of the other boys, even with Rudy. She just hoped she could figure out what it was soon.
