drewstarkey the way you knew the words to every single song, all the choreography and the majority of the script i would've said you were more obsessed with high school musical than you are with taylor swift but i really don't think that is possible

IT WASN'T EVEN SYDNEY'S IDEA TO WATCH THE HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL MOVIES IN JONAS' BACK GARDEN BUT SHE DEFINITELY WASN'T COMPLAINING. The cast decided to have a movie night at their directors house because he'd just installed a projector in his garden for the summer for his kids. He'd mentioned it to Chase firstly who asked about them doing a movie night. The cast were obviously up for it but no one really knew how they ended up watching the three disney channel original movies.
The boys obviously weren't too happy about it but all of them except for Rudy had sisters so they'd all seen at least one of the movies before or at least knew some of the songs. Rudy was definitely the least excited out of them all. Sydney found it funny how he sulked a little before they started the first movie. She was also sure that she'd made him watch the movies before, when they were dating, but she couldn't remember.
The girls were obviously very excited, especially Sydney and Madelyn. So when the first movie started, the two were sitting next to each other ready to start singing the first song together. During the first movie, the boys had gotten into it and stopped complaining. Whether that was due to the alcohol they'd been consuming or because they were actually enjoying it, Sydney wasn't too sure.
By the second movie, the girls had been a lot more drunk than the boys. Sydney, Madison and Madelyn especially. So much so that they couldn't help but sing and dance to every song that came on. And it was very entertaining to the rest of them when Sydney and Madison dramatically sung along to Gotta Go My Own Way, Sydney being Troy and Madison being Gabriella. Even some of the boys were singing along by the last two songs of the movie so when the third one started, they were all thoroughly enjoying themselves and it was turning out to be a lot of fun for every single one of them.
The third High School Musical movie was Sydney's favourite one. Everything about it made her nostalgic and the songs were by far her favourite. So of course Sydney was singing along even more to every song, especially since she'd been drinking a lot more, and dancing every chance she got. A while into the movie, Sydney and Madison had quickly left the group to go inside Jonas' house and get more drinks for everyone. They'd been quick and had returned only minutes later with more drinks for everyone.
Sydney had already been standing when the song had started, the familiar tune filling her ears. It was one of her favourite songs from the whole franchise and she couldn't not dance to it. The closest person to her had been Drew and she knew he'd dance with her if she asked so she just thought why not. She held out her hand for him to take and he looked up at her confused. "Dance with me." She said, leaning down and grabbing his hand to pull him to his feet.
"Take my hand, take a breath
Pull me close and take one step."
The singing started as Drew stood up. He laughed but he let Sydney pull him up anyway. He'd been sitting at the back of the group so not many noticed him stand up. Except for Jonathan who'd been sitting with him.
"Keep your eyes locked on mine
And let the music be your guide."
He let Sydney wrap her arms around his neck, pulling him back a little and into an open space on the grass. They were now beside the group but not everyone yet had noticed them dancing. They weren't exactly following the choreography step by step but Sydney was trying her hardest to, laughing when Drew kept tripping over his own feet. He obviously knew how to dance but he didn't know the dance that was on the screen.
"It's like catching lightning, the chances of finding someone like you. It's one in a million, the chances of feeling the way we do."
The two weren't being serious, not at all, as they kept laughing at each other as they danced together. They were making it up by the chorus, only following a few steps of the choreography when the characters did it first. Laughing as they did it though. The laughing caught the attention of their friends, all laughing along with them as they watched Sydney and Drew dance.
"And with every step together,
we just keep on getting better.
So can I have this dance?"
Sydney was now singing along while she was dancing, laughing every time she nearly stepped on Drew's feet. He spun her around a few times, making her giggle as the others laughed too. Madelyn had brought her phone out to film her two friends dancing, also finding it super cute. The two looked like a couple, no one could deny that. And it was way more entertaining to watch those two dance than watch the movie.
There were a few moments where Drew and Sydney had forgotten they were being watched too. Almost getting lost in each other's eyes and their faces getting too close but the odd laugh from their friends brought them back to reality before anything happened.
"Take my hand, I'll take the lead
And every turn will be safe with me
Don't be afraid, afraid to fall
You know I'll catch you through it all."
It was really stupid, to have that feeling. Rudy told himself that anyway. The feeling he got watching Sydney and Drew dance together. Was it jealousy? He didn't think so, it was different. He hid the weird feeling he was getting with laughs, laughing at Sydney as she spun around and tried not to fall over as she was still quite drunk. Rudy was sitting beside Elaine, who hadn't been finding it all as amusing as everyone else. Sydney was sure Elaine hated her but she wasn't too fussed about it if she was being honest. Rudy hadn't been sitting beside Elaine all night but she'd moved when the third movie had started and practically taken Sydney's seat. Sydney was then forced to sit beside Jonathan at the back, not that she'd complained because she adored Jonathan anyways and it was probably more fun sitting with him and Drew than with Elaine, Rudy and Lilah.
"What we have is worth fighting for
You know I believe, that we were meant to be."
Drew had spun Sydney around just like Troy had done with Gabriella but it wasn't as graceful as it had been in the movie and Sydney had nearly fallen to the floor. And that's when the two decided to stop, Sydney gave Drew a hug before she dramatically bowed in front of everyone and sat down beside Jonathan.
The dancing was just a little bit of fun while watching the movies. The two adults were drunk, not completely smashed but they were a little more than tipsy but everyone could see that the two had a crazy connection. And whether it was simply just a good friendship or a romantic connection, they weren't sure yet but they were sure that they'd find out soon. But there was someone that was hoping they wouldn't find out at all, worried about the outcome.
