Chapter Two
As we entered the hall both my parents and sister went silent.
Also...
Can you believe that this idiot is hiding behind me! Never thought it was ever gonna happen did you well ha! You thought wrong!
We take our seats on either side of Jie and start eating. For the first half of dinner, no one speaks. I look outside trying to distract myself and see that the sun has already set bringing out the night sky.
"So are you going to say anything or do need an invitation" A-Niang stares at me and Wei Wuxian.
I actually have no idea where to start... should I really tell them everything that is going to happen or leave everything for later and just tell them how we got here...
"Well, you see it's kinda difficult-"
"Then make it easier," mom says suddenly making everyone stare at her. "What... hurry up I don't have all night..."
"Umm, you see Me and Wuxian decided that we want to go on a night hunt for a week," I say as calmly as possible.
I know what you're thinking why didn't I tell them about us being from the future but I think it's better for them to not know. The less people know the better...
"That doesn't explain your behaviour this afternoon Jiang Cheng," Father says and I quickly run through my brain to find a convincing reason.
"That you see was because...um.. you see.." why isn't Wuxian saying anything!
"I told him to do it" My head snaps towards him. "We were just joking please forgive us..." he bows surprising both mother and father.
"Please let's continue having dinner" and just like that he sits down and waits until my mother starts eating.
~Sometime later~
Dinner dragged on for more time than expected. And throughout the whole way through my parents and sister wouldn't stop glancing at both me and A-Ying.
But things get more... complicated I guess you can say.
Dinner was just coming to an end when Wei Wuxian decides to shut down... yeah he literally falls asleep hitting his head on the table. I blame that Lan Wangji for this! Living with the Lans knocked some manners in this idiot... just some he's still annoying. But it seems that while living with his husband his sleeping schedule got fixed or something.
"Haha, he's just tired" I laugh nervously. "But A-Xian barely did anything today" Jie gets up and walks towards A-Ying's sleeping body. "A-Xian wake up you can't sleep here..." I could feel my mother glaring at him or that's what it felt like. When I looked towards her she had a slightly... concerned expression...
Well, that's new...
"A-Xia-"
"Lan Zhan it's past nine go to sleep..."
"Lan Zhan? Why is he talking about the second young master of Gusu Lan Sect?" Father questions.
Can I die now?
"W-we were actually running around today and he must have gotten tired." I say walking towards Wei Wuxian and putting his arm around me. "He just needs some sleep that's all."
"It's fine just remember you will be departing for the Gusu lectures the day after tomorrow so make sure you both have everything prepared." Father says "Jiang Cheng that would mean you won't be able to go on the night hunt you talked about" his expression is calm as always as I nod and leave again.
The next day I wake up early like usual and decide to wake A-Xian up. Though when I get there he's nowhere to be seen.
It doesn't take me long to find him because when I go to the training field there's a crowd of disciples all gathered around. "Jiang TongShi what's going on?" I ask the disciple. "Well when we came here to train Wei-Xiong was training and the way he was training is just mesmerizing, it's almost as if he's dancing. "
"It's true! I don't think he has noticed us though he looks so focused..." Another disciple joins in. Pushing my way through the crowd... well not really as everyone moves aside seeing me, I see Wei Wuxian practicing with his sword. My eyes widen seeing him carrying Suibian as it has been forever since I saw him using it. His eyes are closed and he's swinging his sword in multiple different combinations and styles that he had learned over the years. Some that only one person can perform and others that look like the ones he uses to practice with Lan Wangji.
"Oi Wei Wuxian time to stop!" I yell grabbing his attention. "A-Cheng! I can use Suibian again!" He grins and while others look confused my gaze softens towards him. "Yeah yeah come on we have to start packing for tomorrow," I say walking away.
I'm so grateful to the Gods for this chance.
We have breakfast and then head to start packing. I know we have a whole day but I just wanted to get it over with.
"I'll hold on-"
"No, I will... You forgot them last time" I make eye contact with him.
"Hehe, last time... we will see Peacock again" his smile falls.
"He's alive now," I say to him. "But we still have to break off the engagement otherwise no point in having them married."
Should I punch him this time I don't want A-Xian to get in trouble with Mom.
Hmm maybe a punch from both of us will make him realize his feelings for A-Jie quicker.
...
I have to fix our relationships too.
"I'm done!" Wei Wuxian says and starts to head out. I quickly put the last of things and follow behind. "A-Cheng... A-Xian..." Jie comes towards us and I quickly hug her. "Something wrong Jie" I smile and she shakes her head "No I made soup so I came to call you both..." her smile is still the same as it use to be beautiful and pure. "Let's go then-" "You go I have some things to take care of," A-Ying says quickly before walking off leaving Jie with a worried face. It's the first time he refused to have her soup anyways.
"Err I'll help him then we can have it together" I know something's wrong. I follow him to the river where he finally stops. "What's wrong?" I sit next to him.
He doesn't speak for a while so we just sit there. Truth is I already know what he's thinking...
"Don't think about it" I suddenly say making him flinch.
"I...I can't face her... honestly I don't think I have the courage to face anyone..." he says. "Not Uncle Jiang, Madam Yu, Wen Qing and A-Ning and especially Shijie."
It hurts to listen to him saying all that.
"Jiang Cheng maybe I should-" "Stop okay" I feel him looking at me. "Don't ever think about leaving you hear me"
"Yeah right as if you are going to let me leave... I was saying maybe I should just stay away from everyone." I roll my eyes and give him an annoyed look. "Then what's the point you'll be like your damn husband" Wei Wuxian laughs and the silence comes back.
"Wei Wuxian..." I want him to get this inside his brain. "Jie died that day ... because she loved you. She came there that day because she knew you were in danger and having the thought of losing you wasn't what she wanted. It was not your fault get that in your brain if you have one that is." He laughs at the last part.
After that talk, we walk back to see Jie sitting patiently. "Shijie I'm sorry I made you worry earlier" Wei Wuxian lays his head on her lap. "Xianxian wasn't feeling well and did not want to worry Shijie."
He really is an oversized baby.
Wei Ying POV
Jiang Cheng said not to think about it...
But...
I can't stop because here as I lay my head on my Shijie's lap, I can't stop thinking about how I'm the reason for death... I may not have killed her directly but in the end, it was I who killed her.
"My dear A-Xian stop thinking too much it's going to hurt your brain" Shijie smiles as she runs her hand in my hair. My eyes take a quick glance at Jiang Cheng and I can see the concern in his eyes.
We take an hour or two just fooling around and having more of Shijie's soup.
That is when I remember that in the past Shijie never really drew a sword or any weapon that could protect her.
I really don't want her to be eaten by the measuring snake if I'm not there, not that I won't be.
"Shijie I have never seen you with a sword before," I say grabbing her attention.
"She wouldn't need one cause we are going to protect her," Jiang Cheng says quickly making her laugh.
"A-Cheng will you be able to protect me after both you and A-Xian get married."
Marriage...
Lan Zhan is not my Lan Zhan anymore...
My smile drops for a second before I quickly recover.
"The reason why I don't carry a sword is because my cultivation hasn't been the best" she smiles.
"That shouldn't be a problem! We can improve it within 3 months" I tell confidently.
"He's not wrong maybe you should come with us to Gusu lectures you'll be able to learn a whole lot of stuff," Jiang Cheng says and I nod.
"You won't be alone then to please Shijie" she smiles warmly again and then nods.
"I'll talk to A-Niang and A-Die about it."

Jiang Cheng's POV
I feel like something is wrong again...
And I didn't travel back even further.
It's just an uneasy feeling...
Quickly I put on my outer robe and walk towards Wuxian's room.
When I get there it's locked.
"A-Ying open the door" I whisper loudly.
...
Silence...
Not even a tiny sound can be heard.
Then I remember that he usually keeps his window open.
"Wei Wuxian...
