Chapter 1 - SHITTT

Y/N POV (1st Person)


Dammit S/N...


I told you not to come here...


I sigh as I set my bike down gently under a covering and out of sight of people walking by. No one should see it unless they actively look, which is probably unlikely...


Dammit it was hard to bike here. But I mean, not like I could drive here... my car ain't made to drive through snow and ice, and no one ever cleans up the road here anymore...


Because no one wants to come here. Much less myself.

Especially after...


The incident.


Which my therapist said I should work on addressing my trauma instead of stuffing it down and ignoring it, but I'm fineee...


But seriously. S/N, his cousin S/S/N, and his two kids of my friend F/N, F/D/N and F/S/N, and his friend Claire. They're all here. At least, if S/N's note of why he's gone is any indication...


Dang it, I know he's 13 but he doesn't need to be rebellious already! Dammit teenangers...


I brought only a few things with me... should be a quick in and out. Quickly go in, find the kids, and leave.


Not too hard... I hope...


Let's see... my old level 4 security keycard... a bottle of water... a first aid pack... a few small bags of catnip because somehow that distracts the mascots...


Yep, everything I need. I hope.


I sigh yet again in exasperation as I start walking towards the main entrance, and get lost in my thoughts.


I used to love working here... until I saw the mascots they tried to make... the mascots are terrifying looking, and look nothing like their cartoon selves...


It's... horrifying.


And---


"DAMMIT!"


The main door is blocked off by debris and rubble... but if the kids got in... there must be another way in.

And... yep. A broken window.


I walk over and climb in, wincing slightly when I cut my hand a little.


I grimace a bit, but it's not even that noticeable. I should be fine if I lead it untouched...


I glance around the lobby... there's the welcome desk... the old mural of the main six... the chairs and a few old toys... this looks like it was preserved in a museum and untouched for years... the same as I remember when I quit... but eerily quiet... and ominous...


My boots pad against the cracked ground. Honestly, the sheer amount of wear and damage this place sustained after 10 years impresses even myself. And I've been in prison.


I mean, it was for tax fraud, but seriously, the prisons condition was terrible. I definitely don't recommend going to prison.


Though, some of the people weren't too bad. I mean, I met F/N there. He's awesome. Oh, and very gay. The sheer amount of people that realize they're gay or bisexual or something when they go to prison amazes me.


I walk towards the old door to one of the smaller security offices by the lobby where the few base security guards on duty would always goof off. They gave me free donuts though, so I made sure no one would let people yell at them for not really doing their job of people who'd just walk in and hang out in the lobby.


I pry it open with my bare hands because no way there's power here, and damn I'm strong and feel the need to prove it though no one is here at all.

I walk in, and it's also the same, except it looks like they used the desks to make... a barricade..?


Well... thats not ominous at all...


I walk around the barricade, as a familar thing catches my attention.


Only trained engineers were allowed to use them, but I always wanted to...


The handy-dandy grab-pack.


Had to use em to hit big buttons in different places. Why were there giant buttons pretty much everywhere? I don't know.


The Euphoric Brothers, AKA the CEOs, were the ones who originally opened the building and probably were happy with these weird design choices.


I put on the grab-pack, grinning like a cheshire cat. I see a VHS tape on the ground. Ehhh... y'know what? Let's watch it.


I put the VHS in the TV on the wheelie table thing and watch it, obviously very surprised when it turns on and works.


Looks like there is still power here...


I tilt my head as I watch the little figure display how the grab-pack works. I wonder why only a few were allowed to use these things?


The I see the figure rip another figures head off with the grab-pack. Yep... that would explain why...


I turn around and leave the room when the tape ends, as I roam around the lobby. Unlikely the kids are here but why not check?


"Kids!?"


No response.


"KIDS!?"


Still no response... other than that faint scuttling...


Eck...


I guess I have to go deeper into the factory...

Maybe I should go get the police involved..?


No, Y/N. You're already in, don't scamper out and let someone do this for you. Anyways, what's the worse that could happen?


Well... a lot, but still!


I sigh as I straighten my scarf, let's do this!


I walk past the welcome desk, hopping over the... what are they called? I worked here for several years and never learned their name... uh... the weird things that you walk through that are the three bars that spin? Don't know how to describe them really... uh, usually at theme parks?


I don't know, okay? I'm a dumbass.


I have to come to a stop at a locked door. I look up and see a big red button. I use the grab-pack to hit it because I must hit button. It is one of the few things my small brain is compelled to do.


Hey look, the button opens the door. Yay!


I walk into the main room. I know it too well. Except now it's worn and damaged now. And littered with boxes that have been ripped open with the toys missing. Oh, and dried blood everywhere. This place looks like there was a fight, where the humans there lost terribly...


I frown a little, but overall I'm not phased. I'm too traumatized after everything I went through to care...


I wander around the main room, carefully stepping over empty boxes and debris.


"KIDS! KIDS WHERE ARE YOU?"


I pauses when there's a crunch behind me, and something that sounds like plastic crinkling.


I immediately know I'm fucked as I slowly turn around.


Hidden in the shadows,I see two dark red eyes gleaming at me. I can only make out a silhouetted figure of a bird-esc creature...


...


Not today...


I slowly start backing away from the bird, whatever it is, because I don't want to get into a fight with a bird monster.


It's beady eyes just stare at me as I slowly back away, towards a large door across the room that leads to the main factory. The door itself is locked, but when I look up I see two buttons. One blue, and one red like the one before.


I hit the blue and red button, but the door doesn't open.


What?


I hit both buttons again, but I notice a small little blue column begins to light up, and when the column is full the door opens.


Oh... looks like the blue button needs to be held down and you just need to hit the red buttons once. Makes sense. I guess.


The door opens up to one of the main factory spaces as I walk in.


The sheer amount of conveyors and shit always amazed me.


"KIDS!"


I keel wandering around, yelling out for the kids. I hope they can hear me or something...


I pause when I wander past a wall, seeing a familar poster.



It's worn and stained with dried blood, but it's the Opila poster. These things were everywhere. All the posters were actually.


Seriously, when this place was open, these posters were on every single wall, I swear in the name of soft tacos.


I sigh a bit as I keep walking, hoping onto one of the deactivated conveyors to walk because I'm a very strange person.


Heh, if these turn on, I'm fucked.


Then it turns on.


I'm fucked.


Wait, why is it on even?


WAS IT THE BIRD!?


IS THE BIRD ALLOWED TO OPERATE THESE!?


I kinda just tense up as I move along the conveyor. Why don't I jump off?


I don't know.


Then I hear a loud screech behind me and the sound of something thudding on metal.


I look behind me---


"HOLY FUCK!"


It's Opila, but... not Opila. It's gaunt, looking like it's feathers and skin is sagging off of it, and it's legs and neck are long and twisted, looking like they have no bones, and like they can barely hold up its body and head.


It's honestly disturbing to look at, much less that it's beak and claws are stained with dried blood.


It manages to raise its head up enough to screech at me and charges.


OH SHIT, HERE COMES THE BIRD!


I immediately hop onto another conveyor as it gives me a look of, 'what the fuck lady?' As it passes me on the conveyor I was on a moment ago.


I take advantage of this moment to run.


Damn, I nearly forgot how terrifying the mascots are in person.


I hear another screech as it hops onto the same conveyor I am now on.


And I hope onto a different conveyor.


Rinse and repeat.


Honestly this is hilarious. If it wasn't so terrifying.


Literally, we're both screaming as we run.


Then the bird trips over its legs and one of its wings get caught in the edge of the conveyor.


It tries to pull it's wing out as it screeches in distress and I hop onto a conveyor next to the one it's on.


"HA!"


The bird glares at me as it gets dragged along. I smirk at at as I suddenly notice the conveyor it's on comes to a sudden end and that it's high off enough the bird could fall off and be seriously injured or killed.


Oh shit. I mean, fuck the bird, but kill it? No. Not since it was made with a human.


I immediately hop onto the same conveyor and help the bird get their wing out. They're stunned enough that I'm helping that they don't attack me, and we manage to get their wing unstuck and we hop off onto another conveyor.


We keep hopping down until we get off the conveyors and to the bottom, and we both kind of just stand there as we process what just happened.


"...are you okay?"


The bird looks at me, slowly raising their head to stare at me eye to eye.


"...yeeessss..."


Their words are slurred, and a bit hard to understand too perfectly, and sound sort of like she's drunk or something.


Heh, drunk bird.


"Uh... great... I uh- need to go now."


Opila tilts her head.


"Whyyyyy?"


I shrug.


"I'm looking for my son and a few other kids."


Opila eyes widen a bit.


"Knoooowwww..."


I tilt my head.


"What?"


Opila stares at me.


"Iiiiii knowww..."


I tilt my head.


"You know where the kids are?"


Opila nods, and I smile brightly.


"Well, let's go then!"


Opila stands up on shaky legs and walks, and I walk after them.


"...Naaaameeee?"


I raise an eyebrow.


"My name? It's Y/N."


Opila immediately pauses and stares at me.


"YYYYY/NNNNN..?"


I nod a bit as Opila then starts hacking.


"Opila?"


She keeps hacking.


"Opila? Are you okay?"


She throws up some torn up toy parts that are bloodstained, a license plate (no, I have no idea how that got in there), and... keycards?


I tilt my head as Opila taps one with of her claws.


I tilt my head, looking at it in confusion. And it's... my old level 2 keycard as to when I started working here.


"Huh? Opila, where did you find this?"


Opila stares at me blankly.


"Uh- never mind, let's just go find the kids Opila."


She nods slowly as she snaps up the bloody toy parts and we both resume walking.


How does the bird know me though..?

A/N: Sorry for the late release of Chapter 1, being today instead of yesterday. I was still struggling a bit to figure out exactly what to do with this chapter.

I was also working on some art and such.

Plus, I have a new thing I'm going to do at the end of each chapter, where we get designs for different characters and information about them. Just this time I'm going to do two pictures, one of Opila and one of Y/N.

BTW, sorry if my art work is a bit... weirdish, I'm not too used to drawing realistic characters and not the best at drawing humanoids. 😅

Feel free to make as much art work as you like though. It always makes me happy to see any fan art (don't worry, I could care less about you uploading these characters as long as I'm credited).

Opila (Cartoon): This variant of Opila Bird takes a bit of inspiration as the concept of the one made by UniqueGeese, being centered around sleep. It's first appearance was in 1999, as a stuffed animal designed to be a perfect snuggle buddy. Her popularity sky-rocketed, and she appeared further in various storytime books for helping kids sleep, as well as appeared in the show "Banban and Friends" (2000 - 2012) as a motherly figure, often found wearing a nightcap and sleepmask during the shows night segments. The show caused Opila Bird to gain a male love interest, known as Tarta Bird, and numerous chicks that never talked. She remained as a popular character, being one of Banban's Toy Factory's main mascots, until its closing.

Opila (Real): This version of Opila has been twisted and messed up, it's body gaunt and thin, and it's legs, neck, and beak twisted and jagged. Her neck and legs are barely strong enough to carry herself, her head often sagging down towards the ground. She usually prefers to run away from conflict with humans and other mascots, unless she feels a child, her chicks, or her loved ones are threatened, and then she'll behave in a way where she'll attack and kill humans who she feels are a threat. She is unable to talk very well, due to her neck being malformed. She was made from a human named "Mayla Avalon", a woman who was a mother of two and had previous experience as a child-care professional, before working at the factory as a tour-guide.

Y/N L/N: A previous employee at the Factory before its closing shortly after she quit, she is the mother of S/N. She was originally employed as a janitor, she was traumatized after an experience with the real version of the mascot ■■■■■■■■. Y/N has now returned to the factory in the middle of December after her son, S/N, and various other children went into the abandoned factory. (Yes, she has a hammer with her. Yes, it will appear soon. Yes, you can change her clothing. Yes, she can come to the factory in the middle of December wearing drag.)
