Chapter 56: Legends

We were golden, we were fire, we were magic
Yeah and they all knew our names all over town
We had it made in the middle of the madness
We were neon in a gray cloud

Yeah, we wrote our own story
Full of blood sweat and heartbeats
We didn't do it for the fame or the glory
But we went down in history

Cass paused her bouncing as she looked down at the baby within her arms. Little Rose had fallen asleep yet again to her voice. She continued singing her newest single as she looked outside to find her best friend and new manager dancing in the backyard to the silence of the evening. Both illuminating the biggest smiles as the sun began setting giving a hue of pink and orange over the horizon. Cassie loved watching them. They were great muses and were inspirations for her newest song.

It is true that she had finished her deal with Marx Records while Jackson terminated his contract and started his own agency here in Texas with one well known artist already under his belt. A few of the authors he worked with also followed him to his new Agency named Rose Records. He had hit the ground running in their hometown and has been gaining steam. Natalia was happy he finally pursued something he truly wanted.

 Yeah we were legends
Loving you baby it was Heaven

"I love your voice princess"

Cass turns to the door finding her own prince standing there. She gives one more check to Rose before turning on the baby monitor and ushering Keith out softly closing the door. Keith cupped her cheeks affectionately giving her a gentle kiss that caused her toes to curl. She couldn't help the smile from spreading across her cheeks. This man was the perfect addiction to her.

They arrived back in Texas to find Natalia throwing everything in sight at Keith for hiding her keys. He ran out the door fearful of his sister with glass plates. Cass laughed whole heartedly while Jackson hugged her to his side welcoming her home. The word making her heart soar. This was her home now...

Keith took her hand leading her down the stairs before picking up the baby monitor and taking her out of the house where Nat and Jackson were still dancing. It was then she heard the faint sounds of a radio. She giggled hearing her own voice through the stereo. Nat turned with a smug grin as she sang the lyrics to her song.

Tragic and epic and so amazing
I'll always wear the crown that you gave me
We will always stay lost in forever
And they'll remember
We were legends

Nat took her hands into her own and began dancing her as they sang along. The boys still dancing solo like fools until they pulled them apart taking their rightful partners into their embraces. At one point they switched and Cass couldn't help but grin as Keith turned his baby sister around as he hummed to the familiar words. It was a sight to see as Jackson himself sang some of the lyrics. Cass couldn't help but laugh before joining back into singing.

We were legends
Loving you baby it was Heaven
What everyone wondered we'd never question
Close our eyes and took on the world together
Do you remember baby?
We were crazy

Feeling herself being pulled back into her cowboy's embrace she smiled affectionately up to him wrapping her arms around his neck. He turned her around allowing her to drop her head back as the wind swept through her blonde locks. This truly felt like heaven. She had the life she had always wanted. She was free...

The song finished leaving the group in chuckles and smiles. Jackson walked over turning down the stereo before leading Nat over to the fire pit. He sat down placing her on his lap. Keith pressed her lower back leading her to sit down as well as they all looked into the fire dancing as the night sky began to fill with shining stars.

The night escaping the group as they laughed and talked enjoying the simplicity of the evening. Cass thought the only rush she would get is when she was on stage... She couldn't have been more wrong. Sitting here near a fire pit in the middle of the open wilderness with only the people she loved... this was an entirely different rush.

The sky was full of stars when the familiar sound of crying rang through the monitor. Nat leaned over taking the monitor kissing Cass' cheek followed by her brothers before walking in. Jackson also standing to lean over kissing the crown of Cass' head before shaking hands with Keith following Nat in. She watched as he rushed up to her just to hold her hand while they walked in. A smile creeping its way to her lips watching them.

"I guess my sister could do worse than city slick..."

Cass turned looking down to Keith unimpressed but the amusement danced in her eyes. His own face set an amused smirk. "He loves her and Rose, and you know it."

The older sibling rolls his eyes but is smiling. She leans back making him lean against the back of the chair. Her head resting on his shoulder as she looks to the evening stars. His strong arms coiling around her stomach as a content sigh escapes both of their lips. Cass couldn't ever imagine herself anywhere but here in the arms of the man she loves. She owed Nat more than she could ever know.

"Hey princess," Cass hums in reply. "I was thinking about something."

"Yeah?" She turns her head so she can look at his face. He turns looking directly into her eyes. Their faces only a breath away from each other. He playfully rubs his nose against hers.

"Your song... Legends. Is that about Talia and Jackson?"

She nodded her head against his shoulder. He looked sadden for a split second before giving a small smile making her question if she actually saw the expression. She brought her hand up cupping his jaw line before kissing him tenderly before pulling back.

"I could write a song about you if you'd like."

"What would be in it?" He asked quietly. She took a moment before a small smile pulled at her lips.

"Endless love"

He placed his head in her neck kissing her neck as she closed her eyes. His arms tightening around her as if confirming she was really there. She had no problems with his touch.

"I love you princess"

"As I love you sexy"

He chuckled against her neck making her heart flutter before he pulled his head out from her neck grinning up at her. He leaned up pecking her cheek before relaxing back on the lawn chair. Both enjoying the sounds of the crickets and horses occasionally. This was their home now. Cassie loving every minute of it. It breathed life into her like nothing had in so long.

"Come on, don't want you catchin' a cold."

Princess nodded standing up before offering her hand to him. He looked amused but took it allowing her to try pulling him up. It was ridiculous to think she could but regardless, she used her whole body to try pulling him up earning a low husky chuckle from him. He stood up wrapping an arm around her shoulder as hers went around his waist. He leaned over to kiss the side of her head as they walked around Nat & Jackson's home.

Cass glanced back to find Nat getting devoured by Jackson. She shook her head turning away giving them the privacy. It was evident enough how much they loved each other, she did not need to see anything further. Jackson's aunt had come down a few times with the promise to continue returning soon. She was hoping for news of a second child. Nat and Jackson weren't against the idea but wanted a little time before a second child came along.

"Princess, I want to check on Oakley before we head in."

"Okay" Cass nods her head as they turn heading into the barn. She watches him walk over to Oakley's stall while she goes to her own boy's stall. The beautiful stallion turning as she walks up. She rubs down his nose, "How's my boy Outlaw? Hmm"

He snorts lifting his head up before bringing it back. She smiles but it falters as he turns to the side, a red ribbon was in his hair. She reached for the ribbon that easily came out finding a ring attached to it. Her heart beating frantically in her chest as she turns to find Keith already down on one knee. Her hand instantly going to her mouth as the other clutches the ring.

"Cassie, I can't promise it will always be perfect. I will make mistakes, but I will learn from them. We may have storms in the future but I promise a rainbow will always follow. You've become my home. Where you are is where I want to be and I love you more and more every day... Marry my princess"

She nods her head as the tears begin to fall from her eyes. He stands up smiling as he reaches for the ring still clutched in her hands. She releases it as he removes the ribbon before placing the ring on her hand. The tears openly running as she still stands there feeling like she could burst from happiness. He kisses her as he lifts her up turning her around in a circle. Cassie could almost believe she was dreaming. There was no way she had become this lucky. She pulled back to look down as her fingers raked through his dark hair looking deeply into his blue eyes.

"Yes Keith, a thousand times over.."

He gave her a smile that could make any woman melt, but she was the lucky one... And he was all hers. She leaned back down giving him a passionate kiss so incredibly grateful for him. Keith carried her back to their house as her lips continued to work his or tease down his neck. The evening spent wrapped in each others embrace. The world could have been on fire and they wouldn't have known. The pair only falling asleep when pure exhaustion called. Cassie was expecting an early wake up call from Nat and was pleasantly surprised when none happened. The sun was high in the sky by the time they had awoken. Walking down stairs hand in hand they were hit with the fragrance of food wafting from the kitchen. They walked in to find a feast on the table with a single rose placed in jar and a note that simply read. 'Happy for you both and can't wait to celebrate'.

They ate enjoying gentle kisses and touches throughout before finally getting dressed for the day. Cassie kept glancing down at her ring finger as if in a trance not being able to tear herself away from the magnificent ring he had chosen.

Upon arriving at the other home, she was engulfed in a bone crushing hug from her sister. She giggled joyfully holding her equally as tight before Nat pulled back to look down at her hand. Jackson had already walked by to congratulate Keith. A soft whimper made Cass turn her gaze from Nat to her godchild. She walked over to the highchair picking up the young princess before bringing her into her arms.

Keith was watching on with calculated eyes before his intense stare met her gaze. Cassie could tell by that gaze what he was thinking and she couldn't be happier. A blush also creeping up her cheeks in the process. She turned walking out of the kitchen with Rose in her arms. She began humming as she tends to do while with her beautiful little Rose. They walked to the front door pushing the screen open lightly before she sat down on the swing and began singing. A few moments later Nat walks out the door looking around before her gaze lands on Cass. A smile slowly spreading on her face.

"You will make a great mother some day Cass"

And for the first time in a long time, she knew it would be true... Now she would just wait for that moment.
