Chapter 39: Done
"What the-" Jackson cuts himself turning to Cassie in the car. "Stay in the car."
She just nods still looking to the figure standing at her door. His eyes looking directly at her as Jackson climbs out of the car in the process slamming his door shut. His body tense as he walks swiftly towards the entrance to the house and the intruder.
"What are you doing here Landon? Leave."
Landon doesn't take his eyes away from Cassie sitting in the passenger seat. "You must really take excellent care of you clients if you've Cassie into a lap dog. Look how she listens to you so obediently."
Jackson shoves him hard, "Leave now."
"What? You worried she would come back to a real man?!" Landon says finally turn his attention to Jackson.
His gaze barely catches sight of him before a fist collides hard with his eye making him stagger back. He groans clutching his eye as he regains his balance. "I will not tell you again."
A low humorless chuckle escapes Landon as he turns walking away but much to Cassie's dismay walks directly to the car. Jackson is quick to move forward but not before Landon is attempting to pull the car door open. He bangs his hand on the window, "Open the door Cassie!"
Cassie squeezes her eyes shut for a moment wishing this was all a nightmare. During her moment of solace, Jackson runs tackling Landon before landing a few punches to him. Landon however rotates him off before throwing a punch of his own. Jackson felt it on his jaw but didn't care. This asshole needed to be taught a lesson.
Cassie looks at the window gasping finding the two in a brawl on the ground. Unlock the door, she throws it open stepping out to help her agent and friend. She gets to him pulling his arm back, "Jackson stop!"
"Yeah listen to your slut! Seems she will spread her legs for anyone who gives her attention. I knew you liked it even when you said to stop."
Just like Jackson begins punching him again. This time he doesn't stop until Landon is unconscious coated in his own blood. Jackson gets off of him with his chest heaving up and down. Cassie is standing off to the side with tears welled up in her eyes and her arms crossed over one another in a protective manner. Jackson takes a few deep breaths before walking to her engulfing her in his arms. Her tears begin cascading down as she sobs uncontrollably. He just holds her tight not allowing her to fall to the ground.
How could this man that at one point she thought she loved treat her like this?! She remembers the few times she wasn't in the mood and he didn't listen. Those memories come flooding back. Lost her own thoughts she doesn't hear the sirens wailing as they pull up to the house. Red and blue flashing across the blanket of night. She lifts her gaze as the cops get out, Jackson cups her face in his hands making her lock her gaze with his.
"Listen Cassie, call Tate."
"Put your hands up!"
They both do but Jackson's brows furrow finding Cassie's phone in her hand. She takes a step forward towards the cop who look to her. Jackson watches trying to figure out what she's doing.
"Sir, I have a restraining order against that man-" she points to the unconscious Landon laying on the ground. "And I have proof that he provoked my friend."
She drops her hand pressing a button on her phone.
Yeah listen to your slut! Seems she will spread her legs for anyone who gives her attention. I knew you liked it even when you said to stop.
The cops face morphs from pity to the man passed out with pure rage. "Collins, get that piece of shit out of here."
"Yes sir"
The second cop steps forward lifting the dead mass off the pavement and taking him to the back of the cop car. Jackson lowers his hands walking over to Cassie putting his hands on her shoulders. The first cop looking down at the woman in front of him.
"I will still need you to come down to the station to file the report miss.."
"Cassie, Cassie Lyndel."
He nods his head gesturing to his own cop car. Cassie turns to look at Jackson silently asking for him to come. "Ms. Lyndel, if you would like you can follow me with your colleague."
She turns her attention back to the cop nodding her head. He tips his head and walks back to his car. Jackson throws his arm over Cassie's shoulder tucking her to his side and guiding her back to the car. He helps her in before glancing at the cop who is now sitting in his own car. He gives him a nod before climbing in the driver seat. The cop cars pull out with the siren's now turned off. It was a quick drive to the station. They get out of the car heading in as they see Landon is now coming to yelling as they pull him through the police station. Jackson and Cassie following the first cop to a desk where she sits down silently still hearing Landon screaming as he is dragged into a different area.
"Ms. Lyndel-"
"Cassie please" she pleads not wanting to be linked to her mother in any fashion. The cop looks to her for a moment before nodding.
"Cassie... Can you tell me what all occurred tonight."
She took a deep breath before replaying the incidents that occurred tonight from the show to his arrival at her home. The cop was recording it and interjected to ask Jackson questions when needed. The cop then had to ask about the recording and what was said. Cassie could barely get it out talking about their past relationship. The officer's jaw was clenched by the end of the conversation. He nodded his head and Jackson could see how angered he was. Cassie was clutching his hand with all her might and he felt sorry for all she had been through before his arrival. It is absolutely disgusting what Landon had done to her and he at this point wished he could pummel him all over again.
"Thank you Ms. Ly- Cassie... Thank you Cassie." She lifts her teary eyes to him and finds him giving her a reassuring smile. She nods her head trying to smile slightly. "It was very smart to record that."
"Thank you" her words a mere whisper.
"You are free to go, we will call-"
"Can I see him for a moment?" Both the officer and Jackson's eyes snap to Cassie. She continues looking to him.
"Cassie I don't think that's-"
"It will only be a moment..."
The officer looks to her seeing her desperate eyes. A long sigh escaping him as he nods giving into the distressed beauty. She gives a tight lip smile standing up. The officer gestures for her to follow him and Jackson is quick to follow. Many eyes look to her recognizing her as she walks by. She keeps her eyes forward trying to keep her composure as they walk back to a room with the word INTEROGATION printed on it.
The cop opens the door and walks in followed by Cassie and then Jackson. Sitting in the chair with his hands handcuffed behind his back is Landon. His shirt covered red, with his head swollen and blood still everywhere. One of his eyes blood shot from where a punched landed. He looks up hearing the door open and glares finding Cassie and Jackson stepping in.
"Oh great, the whole fan club is here!" He says overexaggerating before turning to the cop. "I want to file a lawsuit against that man. He hit me for no re-"
"Shut up" The officer says deadly.
Jackson had to hold back his smirk watching as Landon's mouth fell open. "You can't talk to me like that! I demand-"
Without missing a beat the cop comes around slamming his head down onto the desk instantly shutting him up. Cassie was sitting in the seat in front of him with a table between them without saying anything. Jackson couldn't stop the grin seeing the officer blatantly using force on him. Landon lifts his head now with a tight jaw keeping it shut glaring from the officer to each of the other two in the room.
"I want you to know Landon that this will be the last time you ever come near me."
His bloody and swollen eyes snap to Cassie. Her body still composed even though she feels her nerves going haywire. She keeps her face blank looking at him directly. Jackson and the officer keep their eyes trained on Landon allowing her to speak.
"The things you have done to me are unforgiveable and-"
"I will get out Cassie." He cuts her off making her close her mouth for a moment. He taunts by leaning forward in his chair bringing his face over the desk. "Once I do, I will first tell the tabloids of how your new lover attacked me. I will drag your name through the mud. I will make sure you look like a craze ex making you loose your fans. Once you are finally at your lowest will I come to you again and take what is mine."
She doesn't say anything for a moment. Her tears barely being kept at bay. These tears are however not of fear but of sorrow for the man before her. He leans back with a smug look on his face thinking he has actually one. Cassie stands up slowly making his eyes follow her. She looks down at him with such pity that Landon narrows his eyes at her.
"Goodbye Landon."
She leaves the room not glancing back even as he yells. Jackson follows her out with a smirk on his lips. The officer chuckles lowly shaking his head. Landon looks to him with a raised brow.
"She doesn't have any proof and you can't hold me without probable cause."
"Well then it's a good thing she recorded your statement at her home Mr. Bounds." His face instantly pales and he gulps looking like a deer that's been caught. The officer however walks forward placing his hands on the desk. "And if that isn't enough, we record all statements made in this room."
He points towards a camera in the up right corner of the room. "Men like you are the lowest of scum and I can not wait to be the one to put your ass behind bars."
He walks out of the room that is now oddly silent. Without turning to look back, he opens the door and stops. "Enjoy your stay in this room Mr. Bounds, it will be the last sight you see before getting tossed into a cage like the animal you are."
Cassie and Jackson were standing outside the station. Jackson's frame was engulfing Cassie's as she crumbled after everything that has occurred. Media had luckily not caught wind of this yet but it was only a matter of time. For this moment though, Cassie just needed to process everything. After a few minutes, Jackson leads her back to his car helping her silently get in. They get on the road but it isn't towards her house.
Jackson knows that her house will be swarming soon with paparazzi if they aren't already there. He takes her towards his condo and she doesn't object. He parks the car in the garage and cuts the engine. Cassie doesn't make a move to get out so he just sits back in the seat and silently tries to comfort her by just being there.
"Can I have your phone Jackson?"
He pulls it out and hands it over. She texts something and then hands him back his phone. He glances down to find she texted Natalia. The message simply reading.
Call me
Not even a second later his phone rings. He picks it up, "Jax, are you okay?"
He doesn't say anything as he hands over the phone. Cassie takes a shaky breath and Jackson can hear the other end go silent for a moment. "Cass?"
"It's me Nat" he watches as she crumbles again and sobs again leaning forward. The phone clutched to her ear.
"I'm here Cass... I'm here."
He smiles softly happy that she understands. Cassie calms down after a moment while Nat waits patiently. She wipes her tears roughly from her face, "I need you Nat."
"Okay... I'm leaving now."
Jackson looks to the dashboard slightly worried. It's roughly midnight here which means it would two in Texas. He wants to interject and tell her wait but one look at Cass stops him. Cass continues to cry while Nat continues to talk to her softly before telling her she will be there soon. They end the call and Cass looks emotionally exhausted. He gets out going to her side helping her out as she clutches his phone in her hands. It's then he realizes that her phone is currently is police custody.
They walk into his home. Cassie seeming to not notice where they are nor care. He guides her to his spare room where she curls up in a ball laying on the bed. Unsure of what to do, he sits in a chair in the room as she silently cries until finally falling asleep. He leans back just hoping Natalia gets here safely.
