Unexpectedly expected
Boruto shook his head violently, water spraying everywhere. He then rubbed the towel over his wet hair, looking down at his soaking we jacket in annoyance. "Did you have to push me into the lake?!" He asked Shisui, groaning. "Now I'm all wet."
"Uh, yeah. That's usually what happens when you get pushed into a lake..." Older Naruto laughed.
"Why are you laughing?! Aren't you gonna help me?" Boruto complained, taking off his jacket and twisting it, removing some of the water and letting it leak onto the floor.
"Why? You know I love a good prank as much as the next guy." Naruto asked, taking the jacket from his son and continuing to wring it out. Boruto removed his shirt and twisted the shirt the same way, water leaking out of it and onto the grassy ground.
"You look like you were drowned and brought back to life!" Shisui clutched his stomach, eyes watering from the laughter.
Boruto frowned at the playful Uchiha. "You're old! You shouldn't be pulling pranks!"
Shisui laughed harder. "You honestly expect me to be boring like Itachi? PFFTTT. What kind of Uzumaki are you?! I met your grandma, you know. She was awesome."
"Kushina-obaa-chan?" Boruto's face stretched into a grin. "Was she really, dattebasa?"
"She could get really scary... just ask Kakashi-san." Shisui chuckled and rubbed his neck awkwardly. "But other than that, she was fun!"
"Scary?" Boruto asked his dad. "What's he talking about?"
"Let's just say," Naruto replied, a scared expression entering her face. "She would probably whoop my åss if I acted up on her. You're lucky I don't act like my mom."
Boruto laughed, sweat-dropping. Thank God... he envisioned his dad getting angry... hell would break loose if tou-san got mad...
"Naruto is a strange mix of Minato-sensei and Kushina-san." Kakashi commented, chuckling. "Minato was cheerful, and by far one of the most chill people I knew. He could beat me at times. Sometimes I see that in Naruto. But then again... he got most of it from Kushina. Even her favorite catchphrase, which was dattebane."
"WHOOAA!!!" Boruto grinned. "Grandma Kushina's was dattebane?!
"Yeah." Naruto nodded. "I met her once... she was crazy."
"You did?!" Boruto asked, eyes widening. "She sounds awesome. Wish I could meet her." He mumbled under his breath.
Naruto smiled, but inwardly winced. I wish they could meet you too, Boruto, believe it. They would love you. And Himawari and Hinata. Mom would love Hinata. Naruto's eyes filled with tears. So he had to look away for a second, but he blinked them away quickly. They probably adore you, even dead.
"Hey guys." Older Sakura said, walking over and sitting down next to Kakashi. Now, Older Sakura had a very strange sense of humor, according to Older Sasuke when he pulled his younger self aside after she had sat on his lap. She had the normal, wicked prankster sense of humor, along with a cringey mom sense of humor. She also had a different kind- a rather... seductive sense of humor in a way... it embarrassed everyone who didn't know her, as Sakura had become stunningly beautiful over the years. She could flip a switch and be the normal funny, cringey funny, or mean funny. It was unpredictable. "How are you all doing?"
"Good." Shisui gave her a thumbs up. "I pushed Boruto into the lake earlier."
Boruto expected his favorite aunt to side with him and say that was a cruel thing to do to a little boy.
Instead, she fistbumped Shisui and asked, "Did he scream when he fell in?"
Shisui nodded proudly. "Like a girl. Naruto can vouch for me."
"It was very entertaining, I must say." Naruto nodded, ignoring the mock-betrayed look on Boruto's face. "And yes, he did scream like a girl. He does live with two of them."
"Two girls that could beat your arse to Iwagakure and back." Sakura said, a smirk spreading over her face. "Wait till Hinata hears about what you just said."
Naruto's expression changed instantly. He knew from personal experience that when his wife got mad, (which was rarely ever) she got mad. And this was definitely something that could get her mad. He dropped to his knees. "Please, Sakuraaa!!! Don't tell Hina-chan! For your teammate?!"
Sakura scoffed. "You kidding? I'm telling her because you're my teammate."
"What about for the most powerful shinobi?" Naruto asked, the pleading expression never left his face. Boruto snickered. Aunt Sakura was scary.
"Honey. You're looking at the girl that was trained by Tsunade Senju. Sannin. Med-nin. Famous for her incredible strength? Ever heard of her? Yeah well, she also has a temper worse than an old, stubborn donkey. She was my teacher. Tell me, do you want to get in a fight with me?" Sakura asked, an eyebrow raising. "Because if you do, I might need to unleash the Byakugou to heal you from the hell I rain down on your head. Most powerful shinobi? Please. Look at you, you're trembling!"
Naruto gulped, and tried one last time. "What about for your Hokage?"
Sakura laughed. "That's why I'm threatening to tell Hinata, idiot. Everyone wants to have blackmail over the Hokage."
"There are some disadvantages to being Hokage, huh?" Kakashi chuckled. "Looks like Naruto has a lot to worry about."
Said blonde sweatdropped. "Sakuraaaa!!!! That is so unfair. Kakashi-sensei, shouldn't she be forced to keep her mouth shut?! The Teammate Code says she can't say anything!!! She'll be holding this over my head for years!!!"
"Why are you asking me?" Kakashi laughed, looking at his arguing students. Sakura had drawn her arms up to her chest in a pout, and the anime tic mark was hovering around her forehead. Naruto was glaring at her, rubbing his soon-to-be-hurting head.
Boruto sighed, then took his jacket from his dad. Slipping his shirt over his head, he tied the jacket around his waist and took off to find Sarada. Why? Because why not? These old people weren't entertaining at all.
On the way, he ran into Izumi and Itachi, whom he noticed had been together a lot recently. "Hey there, Boruto-kun. Where are you going?" Izumi asked, leaning down to talk to the blonde.
"To find Sarada. Have any of you guys seen her?" Boruto asked, smoothing his sopping wet hair down.
"I was training with her earlier." Itachi nodded, then his face became pensive. "Why do you need to know?"
"Eh, just wanted to go talk to her." Boruto shrugged. Itachi's eyes widened, and Boruto's face got slightly redder. He was Hinata's kid after all. Izumi smiled knowingly and nodded.
"I saw her with the Sasuke-kuns not five minutes ago. Seems they were going to train or something." Izumi said. "Back in the woods there."
"Okay. Thanks Izumi-baa and Itachi-jii!" Boruto said, running off before Itachi had time to ask questions.
Boruto came across the three Uchihas training in the woods like Izumi said. Sasuke and his Older self both had their Chidori's and Sharingans on, but Sarada wasn't facing Boruto, so he couldn't tell. The telltale sparking came from around Sarada, and blue jolts of energy were encircling her fists. Sarada was learning the Chidori, it seems.
Since Boruto already knew the Rasengan, this was exciting. It would make sparring with Sarada so much more interesting, too. Her Chidori had a purplish tint to it, just like his Rasengan was a yellow color.
Sarada turned to a tree that was next to her and pushed her arm into it, splintering the giant tree.
"Good." Older Sasuke nodded in approval. "You're making quick work of the Chidori. I might have to teach you and Boruto some different jutsu after this."
Sarada nodded, panting hard, and the Chidori faded to nothing. "That would be fun."
"Aa." Younger Sasuke said, a little embarrassed that his daughter mastered the jutsu so quickly. He guessed it was Sakura's amazing chakra control, and shoved it off.
"Boruto. Come out." Older Sasuke turned to face his student, who had hidden behind a bush for cover.
Boruto obeyed his sensei, coming out with a smirk on his face. "Look at you, Sarada, learning Grandpa Kakashi's jutsu."
"You're learning your grandfather's jutsu." Sarada rolled her eyes.
"Correction-- learned my grandfather's jutsu." Boruto boasted.
"Really? I learned most of the Katon Jutsus a long time ago. Get with it, Boruto." Sarada laughed, but it sounded tense. She must've wasted a lot of chakra by learning that jutsu.
"Okay, Boruto, make a Rasengan." Sasuke instructed. Boruto made a kage bunshin and the clone helped him make the yellow ball of air. Holding it in his palm, he raised his eyebrow at Sasuke. "Sarada, now the Chidori."
"Okay." She replied, the began the chant. "Ushi, u, saru, tatsu, ne, tori, ushi, hebi, inu, tora, saru." She made the correct hand signs and the purple-tinted Chidori appeared in her left hand. With her right hand, she grabbed her wrist and supported the left, holding the dangerous lightning-like substance close to her face. It illuminated her onyx eyes, the static reflection flickering back at Boruto.
"Good." Older Sasuke nodded, smiling with pride. Her Chidori was much bigger this time. "Now, go against each other."
Sarada smirked, a mischievous glint appearing in her eyes. The onyx disappeared until it was the three tomoe Sharingan replacing the soulful black.
Boruto smiled, then lifted his Rasengan fist to the sky. "We haven't done this this in a long time, eh, Sarada?"
"Long time." She repeated. "I'm excited."
"You won't be excited when I pummel you into the floor," Boruto grinned, running at her with his Rasengan whirling.
"You can try!" Sarada dodged above him and pushed the Chidori onto him. But Boruto, expecting that, disappeared in a puff of smoke. "Shadow Clone." She grit her teeth and skidded to a stop, Sharingan whirling.
Then she quickly pulled a kunai out and faster than the lightning Kakashi had cut through with the Chidori, threw it into the brush. Boruto came out, frown on his face. There was a cut on his cheek, and it was bleeding, leaving red trails down his face.
Sarada smirked, then noticed the blood and frowned a little. "Are you okay?"
In a flash, Boruto was behind her with a kunai to her neck.
"You never ask your opponent if they're okay, Sarada." Younger Sasuke sighed, rubbing his temples wearily.
"If the opponent is your best friend, she can. My daughter has a heart that cares for people. A heart that is pure and innocent." Older Sasuke glared at his younger self. "And I absolutely will not have you mess it up by teaching my daughter to be an emotionless killer like you, got it?"
"Understood." Younger Sasuke said, looking away, kind of ashamed.
Boruto tightened the kunai, Sarada's kunai, around her neck. "I haven't been totally useless the whole time I wasn't with you, you know. My dad has been helping me out."
"I haven't been useless either." Sarada smirked. Then she was gone, leaving only a log in her place.
"Well crap." Boruto muttered, throwing the log to the side. Now Sarada was gone, and it was his turn to look for her. He scanned his surroundings, but his friend had hid herself very well, leaving no trace of her chakra. "Sarada... where are you?" He mumbled.
A kunai flew at his face, this time quicker. It seemed to be going in slow motion, so Boruto dodged it quickly and expertly.
Then, his arm was cut.
"What happened?" Younger Sasuke asked Older Sasuke, Sharingan whirring to life. "What did she do? Boruto dodged that attack."
"Sarada has the Mangekyo now, right?" Older Sasuke smirked. "This is probably what she can do with it."
In a split second, Boruto's eye began to glow an eerie blue and black.
"What's that?" Younger Sasuke asked Older Sasuke. Older Sasuke squinted, also slightly confused. He hadn't seen this dojutsu before, and he hadn't heard of it either. So... what was it?
"I don't know..." He told his younger self hesitantly. "I haven't seen this before."
Boruto scanned the forest, he could feel the Sasukes' enormous chakra, and there. Behind a tree. There was a body over there. "Sarada-chan..." He muttered, "come out, come out wherever you are..."
He heard the familiar sparking of the Chidori, and he launched himself behind the tree.
There she was, on a branch above him, Sharingan activated, Chidori singing, and hair twisting around. "Hi there." She purred, jumping down.
Boruto summoned a shadow clone and they started working on a Rasengan, but before they could do that...
Sarada fell to the floor, passed out. The Sasukes and Boruto ran to her, concern etched into their faces. Older Sasuke felt her forehead, then his eyes widened and he started shaking his head rapidly.
"What's wrong?" Boruto asked, eyes narrowing.
"Boruto." Sasuke spoke seriously. "Get me Sakura. And Kakashi. Itachi, Hinata. And Izumi. Anyone. Just get me anyone."
"Why?" Boruto asked, eyes widening. His dojutsu disappeared.
"Go!" Older Sasuke glared at him.
Boruto was gone in a flash.
《¤》《▪》《¤》《▪》《¤》《▪》《¤》《▪》《¤》《▪》
"She wasted a lot of chakra." Sakura nodded as soon as she saw her daughter laying on the floor. "The Chidori takes a lot out of you."
"But look closer at her." Sasuke said, lifting her hair.
"Oh my kami..." Hinata gasped. Her Byakugan was activated and she had brought her hands up to her mouth.
Sakura looked at her friend in confusion. Hinata's eyes were filling with regretful tears. "What's wrong?"
"Sakura, I'm so sorry. This is a wood clone." Hinata wiped her eyes and wrapped an arm around Sakura's waist. "This isn't Sarada. And from the looks of it, it hasn't been for a long time."
Boruto looked at his best friend, laying on the floor. Sarada. He'd spied on Itachi and Izumi with her. He'd kissed her. He'd sparred her.
But it wasn't really her.
