First Encounter
Extreme Papasuke/ overly protective parents etc...
Just saying, tho, I can't remember who all was dead and wasn't, so I may accidentally change things up a bit. Sorry, Kishimoto, I'm too lazy to look it up. If you guys know, comment it and I'll see what I can change.

"Sasuke." Sarada shook her younger father, ignoring how weird it felt to say his name like that. "Sasuke, wake up."
Sasuke's head was pounding, and there were black spots in the corner of his vision. He blinked them away, and squinted at the pretty-looking dark haired girl in front of him. Then he remembered everything. This girl was Sarada Uchiha, his future child. Who had come back in time. It was complicated, and his memory was finally coming back.
Sasuke stared at the girl. "Hey." He finally mumbled, trying to shake the sleep out of his system. "What happened?"
"You tell me." Sarada uncrossed her arms and helped him up, leading the confused Uchiha to Shisui's training room.
It was an absolute wreck. Ninja tools were splayed all over the place, and there was sand spilled all over the place from inside of the dummies that had been blown apart. Sasuke winced when he saw the familiar chidori marks along the wall, as if he'd run right along it, allowing the lightning jutsu to singe the wall.
"Who did this?" Sasuke frowned. One of the last reminders of Uchiha Shisui was now gone. Just like everything good in the world.
"You did." Sarada informed, allowing her obsidian eyes to wander over the mess. "After we all went to bed last night. Itachi-jii said he heard you and came in to stop you... he had to use a Genjutsu to knock you out. You were so mad... you were screaming things about the village, and Itachi."
She seemed distant.
"I see." Sasuke looked at his mess, then at his future daughter. He almost felt guilty for scaring her. "I scared you, didn't I?"
"No, Sasuke, I'm--"
"I'm sorry that I'm not handling this well, Sarada." Sasuke said quietly, looking at his bare feet. He felt genuinely guilty, which was strange since he didn't usually have emotions to do so. It was weird. He didn't like it at all. "You understand how odd this is for me?"
Sarada saw her father past self's guilt, and squeezed his arm supportively. Yes, she had been scared. Yes, she thought of him differently. But that wouldn't change how she thought of her actual father. He would always be her dad. "Of course, Sasuke."
Sasuke scratched behind his ear, surveying the damage. "I'm going to clean all this up later. I owe Shisui at least that. For now, I should probably talk to Itachi." Sasuke exhaled carbon dioxide, putting one of his hands on his hip, and sighing at the work he'd caused himself. It wasn't anything that some clones couldn't fix.
Sarada nodded. "You said some pretty harsh things to Itachi-jii-san." Sarada had only heard the screaming. She had been too afraid to leave her bed at that point, listening to Sasuke throw a fit. Sakura and Naruto's voices were also yelling, and you could just barely hear Itachi's calming baritone. Kakashi was there too, Sarada could feel his chakra. He was quieter than the most, but you could tell some of the things he was saying to Sasuke were only making the teenager angrier. Then there was the crashing... that was the worst. Sarada didn't get any sleep last night.
Sasuke winced at the memory. Itachi. He wasn't what Sasuke had thought, exactly like Sarada had warned. He made a mental note to listen to Sarada more often. She had come from the future, after all. In a way, she knew best. Still, he was entitled to his own opinion.
Sasuke sighed and ruffled Sarada's hair in a mildly affectionate way. "I suppose I've gotten used to you already. That's strange."
"Why?" Sarada frowned, tilting her head. Sasuke removed his hand from her hair and settled it at his side.
"It normally takes me months to trust people enough to tell them my opinion, years to get comfortable with them. But I don't trust anyone completely." Sasuke's dark eyes narrowed at her. "This is my second day with you, and I am comfortable with you." That was his life. He was stuck in a terrible world where it's either kill or be killed.
Sarada couldn't help but grin. "You're a lot like my papa from the future."
"That's probably because we're the same person, princess." Sasuke rolled his eyes and huffed in exasperation. Sarada scoffed, ignoring the patronizing nickname.
"I know, but I think you might actually be easier to like than him." Sarada frowned, thinking to her normal father.
"Hmph." Sasuke huffed in annoyance, not appreciating Sarada's commentary. "That's something I don't get every day. Why is that?"
"Well for one, future you is gone all the time." Sarada's frown deepened and her brows furrowed. Stress lines began to appear below her eyes, which caused Sasuke to narrow his eyes. "And I mean all the time. I get lucky if you send a card for my birthday." Sarada started laughing at the irony of the situation.
Sasuke was disappointed in his future self. How did he not see that he had a daughter that desperately needed him and wanted him home? He was also concerned that Sarada wasn't allowing herself to think about it, blocking off her feelings and emotions. It reminded him of... himself. Maybe it's a family trait.
"In your defense, you are saving the village." Sarada saw the guilt in her teenage father's eyes and tried to save the situation. "Something always seems to come up. Someone always wants to destroy the village. I think the reason you do it is because of how Itachi died for the village... or maybe you think you owe them for all the pain you caused them..." Sarada shrugged. "I should ask you when I get home. You are visiting me for my birthday."
The two of them were silent. If I/you ever get home. They thought. Not that I would mind if you stayed. Sasuke added, unsure of how that would turn out.
Sasuke looked at his future daughter and was momentarily distressed at the idea of her going away. Then he rolled his eyes at himself- that was pathetic. He was going to be seeing her in a matter of a few short years, anyway. It wasn't like he could stop her, she inherited stubbornness from Sakura and himself, and had undoubtedly been hanging around her 'Uncle Naruto'. That made her three times as stubborn...
Oh God.
We've created a monster.
Sarada laughed at her father's furrowed brows. "What's wrong, Papa?" She asked mockingly. "Scared you'll miss me?"
"Terrified." Sasuke replied, eyes widening in fake distress. "Oh, what would I do without you?" He asked sarcastically, leading the way out of the room.
"You really are her father." Boruto sighed, walking in. "Random sarcasm attacks when you are getting sentimental. It's like a wall. You shove away your feelings with sarcasm."
"Shut up Boruto." Sarada rolled her eyes. She said those three words so easily it was like she automatically had them coming whenever Boruto opened his mouth. Which was correct.
"I should try it sometime... like when Sarada confesses her undying love for me, finally, I'll just be like; 'Took you long enough, jackass.'" Boruto continued, nudging Sarada in the stomach mockingly.
Sarada then said a very bad word. Sasuke stared at her in shock, as she went off on him. She was similar to him one second, and Sakura the next. She was one confusing child. It was like she had a split personality disorder, which reminded him of a certain plant in the Akatsuki.
"One, I don't love you, stupid." Sarada grumbled. Only Sasuke saw the light blush on her face. "Two, that's not how you react to someone who's spilling their biggest secret to you."
"I don't know..." Sakura walked in, having overheard the conversation. "That's what your father did."
Sarada's eyes widened in shock. Her parents hadn't mentioned Mama confessing to Papa... "What?"
"Yeah." Sasuke sighed. "I was a bit of a--"
"Complete asshole."
"Complete asshole." Sasuke took Sakura's suggestion without hesitation. "To be fair, you thought you'd found true love at the age of 13. You can't expect me to return the feelings, not back then especially. You know how I was."
"You're right, I was very immature back then. But, apparently my 'little crush' turned into something more, Sasuke-kun, because in case you forgot, we have a daughter." Sakura pointed to the black haired pre-teen. She did regret being such a silly girl when she was little. She missed out on so much because she was so focused on Sasuke, who really wasn't that interesting when you got to know him.
"Oh, I didn't forget. Sarada isn't exactly easy to forget." Sasuke smirked. "And she is easily the only girl that I don't hate."
Sakura and Sarada stared at him wordlessly. Sarada looked completely floored, but Sakura didn't seem all that surprised, instead rolling her green eyes.
"Sakura is... a different situation..." Sasuke justified, changing the subject immediately. "What's this I hear about 'undying love', Sarada?" He asked, purposely turning the conversation to her.
Partially because he wanted the spotlight off him, partially because he was truly curious. Of course, there was no way any daughter of his would have anything to do with Naruto's spawn.
Boruto blushed visibly. "I shouldn't have said that. I forgot you were her father at first... you look... 16..." He finished awkwardly, crossing his arms, immediately becoming defensive. "
Sarada blushed in the subtle way the Uchiha did rarely. Must be an Uchiha thing. Sasuke reasoned, glancing at his daughter.
Sakura didn't look surprised. She looked sort of calculating.
We should kill him.
No, Inner, we can't kill him, he's Naruto's kid. Hinata would be heartbroken.
She has another kid. She'll live.
Inner....
Fine, fine. No killing. For now. Can we at least hurt him a little?
I think Sarada is fully capable of taking care of herself.
She's our daughter. It's our job.
Yes. Inner, she is our daughter. That makes her even more capable of beating him to a pulp. Leave this to Sarada.
If anyone asks, I thought this was a bad idea.
Trust me, inner, no one is gonna ask you.
Fuck you <3
Shut up.
While this was happening, the kids finally stopped blushing and had gone back to speaking about their teammate, who Sasuke heard was called Mitsuki. He had zoned out, though, because he was currently wrestling with an odd sense of protectiveness.
Kami, the last time he felt that was when Itachi would hang out with Izumi. And he wasn't protective of Itachi, no, it was Izumi-nee-chan he was always worried about. Itachi had always been... not very sentimental. Or very considerate. It wasn't his fault, he was raised in a family of assholes. Except for Mikoto and Shisui. And Kakashi's old friend Obito.
Now... Sarada? Why?
He looked at the annoying blonde.
Of course, that's why. Sasuke sighed. My ancestors would roll over in their graves if an Uchiha ended up with him.
Boruto and Sarada continued to chat, not realizing that the two teenagers were subtly eyeing the kids with odd looks on their face. Boruto bumped the genin teasingly when they brought up the memory of something stupid Mitsuki and Sarada had apparently done with one of her father's snake summons.
We are soooo going to have that chat... Sasuke frowned.
He opened his mouth, but before he could say anything, Naruto ran in, eyes wide.
"Guys, we've got something to worry about, 'ttebayo!" He doubled over, hands on his knees and panting.
"What is it?" Sakura frowned at her blonde teammate.
"The Akatsuki are on the move." Naruto said, gesturing for them to come with him, and started running back the way he came. The control room. "And they're getting awful close to us, 'ttebayo."
Sasuke and Sakura exchanged a glance. Shît.
Boruto and Sarada share a look. They're coming.
Naruto looked at all of them agitatedly. Let's get this over with so I can get back to my ramen.
《▪》《¤》《▪》《¤》《▪》《¤》《▪》《¤》《▪》《¤》
Itachi stared intently at the screens. He had Konan and Kisame in his sights. The others were undoubtedly on their way, and that troubled him. The Akatsuki never EVER attacked together. Ever. It had always been in pairs, or individually. The gathering of the entire terrorist group was a sign of a huge fight, the kind that leveled cities and killed families.
"Do they know where we are?" Kakashi asked, peering into the same screen Itachi was staring at. He began reading the coordinates off the screen monitor, troubled.
"No, but I'm sure they'll reach the Genjutsu trap soon if they don't turn." Itachi replied, staring more intently at them, and willing them to turn around. Forget they ever felt the strange chakra with Sasuke. Then Itachi spotted a familiar red-head, and his eyes narrowed. "They have Uzumaki Karin. They're probably using her to sniff us out."
"She's in bad shape..." Kakashi commented finally.
It was true. Karin had a deep gash on the side of her head that was bleeding, and bruises were everywhere. Her lip was split and her glasses were nowhere in sight. One of her arms was bleeding heavily, and she'd torn some of her shirt to stop it, but the blood had soaked through her lilac sleeve. Her head was down, but it was clear she was concentrating.
"They probably let Hidan or Kisame at her." Itachi frowned, reasoning it out. He was still deeply disturbed that they had all banded together. "Kisame would use Samehada, so it wasn't him. Must've been Hidan, then. He always was strangely bloodthirsty."
"Why are they looking for you again?" Kakashi asked, looking at Itachi's former makeshift-group of assassins and criminals. He never knew quite what to call them.
"Probably because Zetsu saw the fight and noticed Sarada. Her chakra must've been familiar or something. Or, he stayed and overheard our 'from the future' conversation and Leader-sama wants to question her. Zetsu was supposed to tell everyone if I died or not." Itachi looked back at the screen. "I guess he was disappointed this time."
"Damn, how did you survive in that group for so long?" Naruto came in and looked at the threatening looking rogue ninja. "I'm not trying to question your talents, but I've heard of these guys. The bingo book gives details on dangerous rogue nin, and Kisame, Konan, Sasori, Kakuzu, and Pain are in it."
"He's Itachi Uchiha," Kakashi rolled his eyes as if the answer was obvious and Naruto was stupid for not getting it. "That's how."
"Hn. I'm not that good, minding your own business helps in an organization of people with anger management issues." Itachi sighed and looked at his former teammates in disgust. He had lived in a constant stasis around them, always wondering if one would snap and try to kill him.
The rest of the gang walked in after Naruto, either angry (Sasuke), or shocked (everyone else).
"They're here?" Sasuke questioned, scowling. He was, as always, looking forward to beat up the bad guys, and was happy to finally have a sense of who the real bad guys were.
"No, not yet. But we can't necessarily sit here and let them find us." Kakashi frowned in deep thought. "Not if we want to keep this base a secret. We need to get out there and lead them away, somehow, before escaping ourselves."
"YES! FINALLY SOME ACTION, 'TTEBASA!" Boruto shouted, pumping his fists. "I can't wait to see the look on Dad's face when I tell him how I pummeled the Akatsu--"
"No." Itachi stood up from the screens and looked at the kids. "You two are staying inside. Where you're safe."
"EHH??" Sarada broke, eyes wide with rage. "ITACHI-JII, THAT IS SO NOT FAIR!" She complained impatiently.
"No, He's right. It's too dangerous for you two." Naruto -for the first time- agreed to a plan that wasn't completely irresponsible, looking at the others. "Us, however...."
"I've beaten my dad in an arm wrestling contest." Sarada boasted, eyeing down the Akatsuki members with irritation. "This will be nothing." She knew, of course, that it would be a little bit more than nothing, but really- if Mama, Papa, and Uncle Naruto had handled most of them over just the span of a couple years, how hard could it be?
"You see Itachi?" Sasuke pointed at his brother. "Imagine Itachi, but ten times. 10 Itachis. That is what we're going up against, and we only have one Itachi on our side." Sasuke said slowly, so that those he had deemed slower mentally could understand.
"Yeah, kids, it looks like you're gonna sit this one out." Kakashi sighed. "I'm sorry."
Sarada looked at her uncle suspiciously, a familiar glare in her eyes. "Is your chakra replenished?"
"Huh?"
"Is your chakra back to normal?" Sarada repeated, looking at her uncle seriously. She had used small words that time so he could understand, and he noticed the smug smirk on her face.
"It's....." Itachi thought about it. "Getting there."
"You need me to help you. Admit it. The sickness is killing you." Sarada sighed at her uncle, as if trying to ignore his stupidity. Boruto discreetly elbowed her, and she remembered him. "And Boruto can be overall helpful with his Rasengan and other overpowered abilities. The kid has been up against an Otsutsuki, for heaven's sake." Of course, Sarada had forgotten that no one had heard of the Otsutsuki before, so this didn't have the desired affect. Instead, they zeroed in on the first part of that sentence.
Everyone turned to him. "You know the Rasengan?!" Naruto shouted excitedly, putting his hands on Boruto's shoulders and shaking him. "That's so cool! Now we can do it together!"
"That's what she said." Boruto grinned, like he'd been waiting to make that joke for ages.
Everyone looked at him with varying degrees of rage at his blatant disrespect of their situation.
"When we get back, can i kill him?" Sasuke looked at Naruto, tone of voice saying whether or not he opposed didn't matter much.
"Get in line." Itachi looked at Boruto with a large amount of killing intent in his usually thoughtful gaze. He hated annoying people just as much as the next guy.
"I'm not stopping you." Naruto scowled at his son. "I get him after you."
"Let's just go, guys. The more we argue, the closer the Akatsuki come." Kakashi sighed. He led the way out and turned the corner, heading for the front doors.
Everybody exchanged glances, then turned to Boruto. He shuddered and turned to Sarada for help. She was examining her nails.
Kakashi poked his head around the corner again. "I have dibs on him next." Then he disappeared around the hallway to get ready for battle.
"I am so screwed." Boruto said aloud. Internally he was thanking Kami that they wouldn't actually kill him.
"Oh yeah. And wait until we get home and I tell Papa and everyone else there." Sarada giggled. "That's so embarassing- I can't believe you just did that in front of some of the strongest ninja alive. Sucks to be you. I can't wait to tell Mitsuki, Shikadai and Inojin."
Boruto's face turned ashen. His friends would never let him live that down. "Yeah? I'm gonna go write my will now."
《¤》《▪》《¤》《▪》《¤》《▪》《¤》《▪》《¤》《▪》
Itachi put on the Akatsuki cloak again, sinking into the comfortable fabric. For some reason, villains liked to be comfortable while killing someone. Itachi never really got it, but never complained.
"Hey, Itachi-jii."
He turned around and saw his future niece slipping in with a small, worried smile. She shut the door behind her and examined him, the basic sharingan turning on.
"Hey there, princess." Itachi smiled at her.
Sarada couldn't help but sigh at the lovey-dovey, saint-level patronizing nickname Itachi and Sasuke both used when addressing her. Unfortunately for Sarada's reputation, the two were more alike than they knew.
Then she frowned again, remembering their situation. "You aren't okay, are you?"
"Not really. I'm sick." Itachi said slowly, trying to help her process this. He strapped his weapons belt around his waist and looked up at the girl. "But your medical abilities do help it a lot."
"We have to find some way to stop the sickness..." Sarada looked at her uncle thoughtfully. "Man, I really wish my mama was here. She would know what to do. I'm bad at medical ninjutsu."
"Sarada," Itachi tried his best to smile. "I'll be fine, I swear. I'll try not to use the Mangekyo Sharingan a lot this time."
"Swear you won't die on me?" Sarada asked, sounding borderline desperate. She would really love it if her uncle survived this one.
"I swear." Itachi promised, extending his hand to shake.
"Just hug me already." Sarada sighed, ignoring the hand. Their time was almost up, Itachi would have to leave. Sarada didn't tell her uncle this, but she felt personally responsible for doing what her father couldn't. Helping her uncle survive was one of those things. And she would do anything to see her father genuinely smile and hug his only sibling.
Itachi smiled and nodded, hugging the girl to him.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sarada waved enthusiastically through the window. "Good luck, guys!"
"DON'T DIE, YA KNOW?" Boruto shouted. Naruto turned back and saluted, then walked off with the rest of the group.
When they disappeared beyond the trapped meadow, Boruto turned to Sarada.
"We aren't just gonna let them do that by themselves, right?"
"Hell no."
