Bonding with the Future

MERRY CHRISTMAS, Y'ALL!!!!

Itachi was amused to see his little brother all grown up. Sasuke was arguing with the grown up Kyuubi jinchuriki, which also felt weird, considering the last time that Itachi had really gotten to see him before this incident and the crow incident, Naruto was twelve and still a loudmouthed brat. Not that he wasn't at age 15, but seeing his more mature 32 year old self was a definite change.

"OKAY, THEN, TEME, YOU'RE ON! Whoever can make Itachi-nii like them more wins." Future Naruto grinned. "And you're already loosing, because I am 10 times more likeable than your emo ass."

Itachi just shook his head. "It's very hard for me to like someone so quickly."

His niece, overhearing this, turned to her dad and smirked. "Hah. Take that, papa. I'm Itachi-jii's favorite."

Sasuke looked skeptical at that, but allowed that Itachi had formed an attachment with his daughter rather quickly. "I've been Nii-san's favorite since we were little."

"I still am." Sarada gloated. "Now you have to try hard to get ojii-san to like you because he doesn't really know you anymore."

Sasuke winced, before frowning. I wouldn't be too sure about that. "Itachi, what's my favorite color?"

"Wasn't it... emerald green?" Itachi raised an eyebrow at his brother's future self. Both Sasukes blushed, and older Sakura ruffled younger Sasuke's hair affectionately.

"Yes," Older Sasuke didn't bother denying it, crossing his arms over his chest. His arm's return was a definite improvement to his mood. "You remembered?"

"You're my little brother, Sasuke, I knew everything about you." Itachi smiled reminiscently, clearly thinking of a specific even that was probably embarrassing for Sasuke. "Plus," Itachi pointed at himself, "shinobi."

Younger Sasuke scowled and looked away. "If you knew everything about me, than you knew that I was in pain all this time and you did nothing about it."

The whole room went silent, and those from the future became very scared. This confrontation was kind of waiting to happen, but it was weird now that it was actually happening.

Future Sasuke scowled. If you've ever seen him angry and are alive, it's because he wasn't angry at you. His eyes narrowed and his Sharingan activated. His fists clenched, and the normally calm facial expression was eaten by a murderous one. He bit his lip in the way that would've made Karin and Younger Sakura want to faint, but this one wasn't in a good way.

It was dead silent, like that one quiet moment in movies before a bomb blew everything up.

Itachi leaned forward, eager to see his brother's older self's reaction to that statement.

Older Sasuke sighed. He opened his eyes, and scowled at his younger self. "You're stupid, you know that? You're not special. Naruto grew up alone, and the only thing you were worried about was your own problems. No wonder everyone thought you were a pathetic excuse for an Uchiha.  You only cared about yourself, and everyone knows the Uchiha's greatest strength and weakness is their tendency to love."

Younger Sasuke gaped up at his older self. "What?" Wouldn't he be on my side in this situation? This doesn't make sense.

"You killed Itachi in the future. He's not there. He's dead because of your decisions." Sasuke grit his teeth. "Because of your stupid revenge mission, your daughter doesn't have an uncle, and you don't have a brother. Aside from Naruto. Itachi never got what he deserved, and he never got what he needed. 8 years is a long time to hold a grudge."

Itachi's eyes closed as his little brother vented at his younger self. The world he came from... the future... it sounded like those words had been eating up Sasuke for years, and he wanted to take it out on himself. What better way than to take it out on your younger self? The one who messed up everything in the first place?

Younger Sasuke's emotion wall broke, and like a flood, everything he'd felt came out. Tears streamed down his face, and he looked overall horrible.

"Sasuke, don't be so hard on yourself!" Older Sakura scolded, taking the younger Sasuke into a bone crushing hug.

Older Sasuke growled. "It's his fault. It's my fault. Everything is the way it is because of him. Me. He hurt a crazy amount of people, lost Kakashi trust, almost broke Naruto, hurt you, Sakura, and he almost destroyed Konoha. All because he couldn't trust his brother when Itachi said he would always be there for him. Was every one of your childhood memories a lie?! You have no right to cry. Stop." He commanded his younger self. "Sit here and take this like a man. Someone should've done this to you a long time ago."

Younger Sasuke remained encased in Sakura's embrace, but did as he was told.

Everyone was solemn, silent, watching as the normally emotionless Sasuke Uchiha got scolded by his broken older self.

All except for Naruto. "HEY! OLDER TEME! Stop yelling at Sasuke, okay?! It wasn't his fault! He just wanted his family!"

"And he had one! He was just too blind to see it!" Older Sasuke spat back. "You guys were there for him this whole time, and he threw you all away. And for what?! Power. Something he didn't even need!"

Younger Naruto was silenced by a palm on his shoulder. It was his older self. "Let Sasuke do this, okay? I think he would've gone crazy if he kept all those feelings pent inside. Plus, your Sasuke needs this, dattebayo!"

Younger Naruto frowned, but nodded.

"Listen here, idiot." Sasuke scowled at himself, carrying a chair over to where his younger self was sitting. He straddled it and growled at the poor Uchiha. "You need to grow up. The world does not revolve around you, and your giant ego. And no one is going to stop and listen to your story and pity you for your 'hard life'. Have you ever once asked Naruto what he did when he was alone?! He made shadow clones, and he played cards with them. He never had a family, so he doesn't know the love of a mother, father and brother. All he had was you and Team 7. And you left him."

Younger Sasuke felt a pang of guilt rise up in his stomach. Then again, that might be the urge to throw up, because his older self was absolutely losing his temper and calling out all of the things that Sasuke was upset about.

"Naruto was a light to everyone, even though he had nothing. What did you do? You sulked and trained. You are a selfish little brat that thinks everyone is going to be like Team 7 and care about your life story. Grow. Up. No one in this world is going to be like Team 7. They are perfect, and they will care about you forever, but there is no one else like them. So if you think other people are going to put up with your shit--"

"Sasuke." He was interrupted by Itachi, who had started standing. Sasuke looked at Itachi with the utmost respect.

"Yeah, nii-san?"

"Come here." Itachi extended his arms. Older Sasuke walked into them, his eyes beginning to tear up. He didn't let them fall, instead pushing them back. "You don't have to blame yourself, okay? If it's anyone's fault, it would be mine, for keeping it from you, and for not being there for you when you were kids. So don't take it out on Sasuke, okay? He may be a idiot, but he's still my brother, and i still have the fierce protective feeling I used to have when you were little, which means if you hurt him too bad, you could end up in a very scary genjutsu. Got it?"

Sasuke gulped, frozen in his elder brother's arms. He'd forgotten how much power was stored in the elder Uchiha's body. Sasuke may be powerful, but Itachi's could rival his on an off day. Except... he was sick now. Another thing that they needed to discuss.

"So," Younger Sakura cleared her throat. "I have questions."

"And we have answers." Older Naruto said to her. "Believe it."

"Okay. First question!" Older Sakura smiled. Plus, Older Sasuke was starting to look like he was reverting back to his normal self, so she wanted to help him out.

Naruto raised his hand. "Oh oh oh, pick me! Pick me!"

Slowly, Karin's hand raised. Older Sakura pointed at her. "Who the heck are you, and what are you doing here?"

"Oh right..." Older Naruto looked at Sasuke. "They just got here, ne? Well, I'm Naruto Uzumaki, the Nanadaime Hokage, nice to meet you. These," He gestured to older Sasuke, Hinata and Sakura, "are my partners in crime, Hinata Hyuuga (My badass wife, Hyuuga clan heiress, Byakugan princess, blah blah blah), Sasuke Uchiha, (my best friend, brother, prank buddy, Shadow Hokage, and I'm pretty sure he's in charge of my security detail, too, which means I can't make him too angry) And Sakura Uchiha (Badass medic, strongest kunoichi in the Shinobi world, head of the hospital, student of Tsunade Senju, blah blah blah.)"

"No, that one's Naruto Uzumaki. And he isn't the Hokage." Suigetsu frowned, looking at the Shippuden Naruto. "And Sasuke? Hah. You look too nice." He received scary looks from both Sasukes. "Nevermind..."

"Yeah, that's my past self, before I got all badass and everything." Older Naruto sighed. "Not much to look at, I know. I promise I got better in the future."

"HEY!"

"Don't worry, Naruto," Older Sakura reached over and ruffled Naruto's hair. "Hinata and I think you were way cuter when you were younger," She whispered. "But don't tell your older self."

"You do?!" Naruto looked between Older Hinata and Older Sakura. They had both gotten prettier, if possible, and they both thought he was cute. Today was definitely his lucky day.

"Don't get your panties all knotted up, otou-san," Boruto floated by, "Kaa-san and Sakura-baa-san love me more..."

Naruto watched as his 13 year old son wrapped his arms around his mom and aunt and stole the show with the least possible amount of effort. "Where's Hima? Is the party still going? Are Inojin and Shikadai worried about me?"

"Boruto!" Older Sakura affectionately embraced her adoptive nephew before passing him along to his mom. "How have you survived this long?! No, no one's looking for you."

"No one even knows you're gone. If they do, they probably are thinking, 'Good riddance. He was too loud anyway, ne? Just like his dad at that age.' I can almost see Kakashi-ojii-chan's face." Older Hinata grinned too, shedding her small, shy self.

"Oh yeah." Sarada joined the conversation. "Wait, we got off topic again. Any other questions?"

Naruto raised his hand again, and again he was ignored when younger Sakura had another question.

"How old are you guys?" She frowned.

The three adults chuckled and exchanged nervous glances. Kakashi sat up from where he sat. He'd been listening off and on, but this definitely caught his attention.

"Erm.... 23?" Naruto tried.

"Baka! It's 22!" Sakura shook her head, a bead of sweat rolling down her face.

Sasuke sighed. "I am 32 years old." When his comrades glared at him, he just shrugged. "What? It's not like the answers you gave them would work. They'd see you were lying in three seconds."

Itachi chuckled. "It seems my otouto is actually older than me this time."

"I know." Older Sasuke grinned. "I'm loving it."

(Ba da ba ba ba)

"Yeah. It's really nice seeing how I used to look when we were younger outside of pictures. It's... refreshing." Naruto stopped and looked his younger self, marveling at how little he had changed. They both had the same smug grins and everything.

"Otou-san, why didn't you keep your hair long?! It would've been so much better..." Boruto groaned. "Your 16 year old self looks so much better than you."

Older Naruto scoffed. "Boruto, remember who you're talking to."

"I know, the Hokage, blah blah blah--"

"No, baka." Naruto came over to his son and put a hand on his shoulder. "I'm your father. You're my son, not just some random person in the village."

"You sure don't act like it." Boruto grumbled, turning his face to where Sarada was happily chatting with her uncle and parents.  Why couldn't his relationship with his dad be like hers?!

"And I'm sorry." Naruto grabbed Boruto's chin and forced him to look at him. "I've been a bad father. But both sides have to put forth some effort, ya know?"

Boruto thought about it, and it made sense. "Fine. I'd be willing to try."

"Good. Because it was getting kind of upsetting how you'd treat me. Poor Lord Third..."

"Ah, we have to go home soon, anata." Older Hinata reminded Naruto. "We left Himawari with Hanabi, and you know how my sister is."

Naruto shuddered. "That's a disaster in the making." Naruto looked at Sasuke. "What do we do about the Itachi issue?"

"I can manage, I think." Itachi frowned thoughtfully. "Since I haven't used my Sharingan in a few days my eyes aren't bothering me, and the illness isn't hurting me too much. I think if I just rest some more and try not to overuse my Sharingan, I should make it."

Older Sasuke looked at his younger self. "Can you make sure nii-san rests himself until things calm down and you can find Tsunade?"

Younger Sasuke looked at his older self with a look of determination. "Hai." The air between the two was still tense, but this time both Sasuke's had something to work towards.

"Good." Older Sasuke nodded in approval. "Shall we go?" He turned to his companions.

"SASUKE UCHIHA, NARUTO UZUMAKI, SAKURA HARUNO," A livid voice shouted from outside. "KAKASHI HATAKE, HINATA HYUUGA AND ITACHI UCHIHA. COME OUT RIGHT NOW."

"I know that voice..." Older Sakura frowned and went to the window. "Crap..." she muttered, stomping her foot and cracking the wooden planks below her feet.

"What's wrong, Sakura?" Older Naruto asked curiously.

Sakura looked at the six time travelers. "We might have to delay our travel plans. It's Shishou."

Everyone in that house went pale.

"Granny Tsunade..." Naruto winced.

"Baa-chan..." Boruto groaned.

"Shishou?!" Younger Sakura whispered sharply.

"Okay, nobody panic." Older Sasuke ran a hand through his hair. "I'm sure there is a way out of this."

"OPEN UP OR I WILL KNOCK DOWN THE DOOR, DRAG YOU OUT, BACK TO KONOHA, AND THEN KILL YOU ALL!" Tsunade shouted, enraged.

Everyone looked at older Sasuke expectantly.

He closed his eyes. "We might be screwed."
