CHAPTER 32

This chapter is dedicated to AstridAnnabethDiamon for pure awesomeness :) Love you!

The weather was becoming cooler, as Christmas holidays came nearer. It was a late and lazy morning. The Marauders and Ginny were sitting under the big tree near the black lake after one and half hours droning by Professor Binns in History of Magic. James was playing with a golden snitch, and absent mindedly ruffling up his hair. Remus was reading a book called 'Use and Abuse of Felix Felicis' (which Ginny had found extremely boring in comparison to 'Jinxes for the Jinxed'). Peter seemed to have been checking out some Ravenclaw girls besides the lake, (who didn't even spare him a glance while pointing at Sirius and giggling).

Sirius had been checking them out as well few minutes ago, until he decided that none of them were 'his type' and distracted Ginny from 'Jinxes for the Jinxed' to talk about how Professor Binns should die a thousand deaths (until Ginny reminded him that he was already dead). Currently he was planning how to lock Filch and Trelawney in an unused classroom and play 'Cauldron full of hot, strong love' to them. The Marauders laughed at Ginny's imitation of Trelawney's horrified look, when Ginny noticed the Ravenclaw girls glaring at her, probably because she was sitting with the most sought after duo of Hogwarts - James Potter and Sirius Black.

Ginny and Remus had reached an unspoken rule- never to talk about that night. Inspite of being mad at her, he had understood the perils of meddling with the timeline, and agreed to keep quiet. Ginny was glad that it was Remus who found out, not Sirius or James, because she was sure they would've reacted worse. Overall, things were almost back to normal. Remus had been a little short-tempered with her for a few days, but now, he was being friendly like he was.

"Who the hell are you going to jinx?" Sirius asked her, eyeing the book she was currently reading. "Not me, I hope?"

"Dunno. If you want, I can practice on you though." Ginny said promptly. "Save it for someone like Snivellus." He replied. Ginny was going to give a suitable reply, when James muttered, "Speaking of the devil...."

And surely enough, Severus was walking towards the tree nearby them, apparently not noticing them yet. He sat under the tree, opened his worn out copy of Advanced Potion Making, and started scribbling into it furiously.

"What do you reckon he is writing about?" Sirius asked in a mock curious voice.

"Looks like he is going to wet himself of stress." James commented. "Look, his nose is touching the book."

"I bet the writings will be smudged, and he wouldn't be able to read a word himself." Said Sirius, which was followed by laughter from James and Peter.

"Will it take galleons for you guys to leave him alone for once?" Ginny asked, annoyed.

"Nope." Sirius said with a fake yawn. "I don't need galleons- I've got loads."

"Neither do I." Said James. "We would rather have Snivelly."

"For what?" Asked Ginny. She wished she hadn't asked.

"You'll see." James smirked and drew out his wand, standing up. Sirius immediately followed his movements.

"No, guys, you'll be in trouble!" They ignored Ginny's shout and approached Severus. It looked as if Severus had noticed them a moment later, as he stood up and drew his wand. His wand was halfway up when James yelled "Expelliarmus!" and it flew out of his hand.

"James, Sirius, stop it!" Ginny made a movement to get up when Remus seized her hand to stop her. "No good." He muttered. "They wouldn't listen." Peter was now standing up to get a better view, his face screwed up in a sickening glee.

Severus had meanwhile dived towards his wand and was being held up with a strong impediment jinx by Sirius. "You wait!" He said threateningly to Sirius and James.

"What are you gonna do Snivellus? Wipe your nose on us?" James said mockingly. Severus sweared loudly, desperately trying to reach his wand.

"Wash your mouth!" James said disdainfully. Sirius took his cue and yelled, "Scourgify!" Severus's words came out like loud gurgling noise, accompanied by coloured soap bubbles coming out from his mouth.

"Ooh.... what has Snivelly written?" James said with mock interest as he swept up his 'Advanced Potion Making' and flipped through it. "What's this? 'Levicorpus'- non verbal.... reckon we can try this one."

"Or this one- 'Sectumsepra'- for enemies...." Sirius peeked into the book.

Ginny was just going to yell at them about what Sectumsepra actually does, when he heard a shout from behind. "Leave him ALONE!" She turned to see an angry Lily running towards them.

"Alright- Evans?" James's voice changed from taunting to an innocent one instantly. He used his free had to ruffle up his hair.

"What has he ever done to you? Why can't you just leave him?" Lily shouted, clearly pissed.

"Well, more of the fact that he exists- you know what I mean." James gave her a smirk. This sentence was followed by Sirius's bark like laugh along with several other students who had gathered to join the fun. But however, Remus's face remained impassive, Ginny's face became annoyed and Lily was in towering rage. Sirius turned around laughing and suddenly yelled, "Oi!"

But it was too late, Severus's spell had hit James on the cheek, leaving a trail of blood. Ginny instantly recognized it as a miniature version of Sectumsepra. James whipped around and casted the non verbal spell he had just found.

Within a second, Severus was hanging upside down in the air. Ginny realised that James had just non verbally used 'Levicorpus'. Severus's robes fell over his face, revealing a pair of greying underpants. This was followed by a roar of laughter from the onlookers. Lily looked as if she was stifling a laugh for a moment before she yelled, "PUT HIM DOWN!"

"Okay." James replied, bored, and flipped through the book. Finding the right page, he casted 'Liberocorpus' non verbally and Severus fell down in a crumpled heap.

"Here you go, Evans." Said James. "Snivellus, you should be grateful to Evans- only if she hadn't turned up...."

"I don't need help from filthy little mudbloods like her!" Everyone laughing until now froze. Ginny eyed Severus, shocked. Lily looked stupified for a moment. But then she opened her mouth, her voice was cold.

Hey guys, as you can already tell, this event was supposed to happen in the fifth year of Marauders. But as I have explained before, I have made certain changes in the timeline, so it is occuring in their sixth year. I hope I did justice to the chapter. Please tell me if it was okay or not.

As I have said many times before, I am very short of time upto March, so if I don't reply to your comments or PMs.... which I try very hard to.... please don't be mad. I'll fill all the gaps when ever I get time. Can't wait for a bit of break....

Anyway, keep reading, voting and commenting.
Love you! :)

P.s. Hope this chapter was long enough for the wait. :D
