The Fresh evening breeze of October month just after a good session of rain was filled with anticipation of something every Indian cherished.

the soft winds promised a delightful adventure of upcoming two months that every Indian dreamt off .

to see their team win that trophy with pure joy on their faces as they would lift the worldcup trophy on their own homeland.

a much more bigger responsibility and expectation more higher than ever . afterall the Men in blue were going to start their campaign of making the dream come true on their own homeland.

and they were willing to make the job done by any possible chance . a chance to get it back home to win the worldcup once again .

a mix of excitement and enthusiasm piled up in the brain and heart of every employee and worker in the central BCCI office in Mumbai .

everyone was rushing around busy in getting the arrangements and preparations done as the date of the starting of campaign grew closer things accelerated in more better way .

With the home soil being host they couldn't let even the smallest details slip away. the idea was to make this historic ICC campaign memorable and remarkable.

from dates of matches being finalized, to making sure the staff and hotels had gotten aware of making hotel suites ready for the guests . it was a big responsibility that demanded constant concentration and management's skills .

in short the whole Cricketing committee of every state was in all chaos to make this two and half months stay and arrangement comfortable for every possible person who was visiting for the battle of that big , proud trophy .

every team that was going to join the campaign was made sure to get the safest and warmest welcome possible .  and BCCI even made sure that their needs were being looked after .

that is why , every team got assigned a special manager from the Indian cricket council just for the sake of their comfortable stay and efficient management on foreign land .

it was a small effort to minimise the workload of every team's respective managers and staff members. and to make the teams familiar with the Indian home soil too.

In between all the chaos and continuity of preparation of approaching worldcup ahead which was the only big thing the workers and employees were focusing upon. there was a mixed feeling of excitement too -

to finally see their team performing on home soil which anyone would hate to miss by any chance .

the workers and department heads were strictly ordered by the chairmen to make sure that no team or staff member faces any kind of discomfort and their safety is ensured at any cost .

and thus as in result each and every person was giving their best in the tall building to make this campaign as one of the best as possible .

in between all this never ending chaos of preparation . ' yahvi Iyer ' sat inside  dimly lit cabin of her office with only a couple of lights on .

her eyes were weary and filled with  exhaustion she could sense the drooping , but a far more bigger matter layed ahead infront of her . which demaded her whole attention instead of stupid sleep .

her slender fingers desperately made an attempt on the keyboard of her laptop to get the job done of writing emails to junior workers in other departments as been assigned by her senior.

as much as the girl adored the sport she hated the load of paper work though it wasn't much of a hard work . but for Yahvi all that mattered was she was able to pursue her career in the exact field she wanted .

since childhood the passion of following cricket and having the desire of pursuing her career in the sporting field took her there from Chennai to Mumbai in the BCCI office.

it was something she never dreamt off but the first experience of work came by working in IPL for the infamous franchise ' C.S.K / Chennai super kings'

and from there the atmosphere she witnessed it was an understanding about how much the sport of cricket was adored in India.

she could never ever thought about reaching upto that level but now life and her hardwork was suddenly paying off and she couldn't be more thankful .

since the news of new managers being assigned to the foreign teams had been come out Yahvi had been restless and a bit nervous too .

because she was an introvert and get so much trouble in dealing with new people and team when she didn't even knew them .

but here it was an order from the head and there was no role of personal shenanigans here she knew she never was going to get the opportunity of working for Men in Blue .

but in her head the image of being proffesional and working for another country's 11 players while cheering for the Indian players did sounded weird .

who cared anymore it wasn't something she had control over and convincing herself she just was ready to accept the fate and give her best for whatever team she was going to get .

her fingers stopped working on the keyboard for a brief second as her eyes shifted towards her phone on the sound of a message popping up .

her frown got deeeper at the glowing screen when she saw the name of her senior Yug Roy .

sitting up abruptly getting back in her fully awake senses she opened the message to read what headache he was interested in giving to her .

" come in my cabin need to inform you about something." the text read and she swore to herself she really got a mini heart attack for a moment.

pinching her eyebrows in confusion she brain stormed about what could be the matter now that their departure head was calling her .

stopping herself from thinking too much she got up from her chair closing the laptop in the process . and getting herself ready mentally too for whatever layer ahead.

"alright let's see what Mr. yug got to tell us." she spoke to herself straighting her clothes and slowly make her way out of her cabin .

As Yahvi made her way to the cabin of their department head her mind raced with series of questions and heart raced with undeniable speed .

It wasn't something that she was afraid of but still the lingering thoughts about having some trouble did created some doubt in mind .

"alright girl, you really need to get yourself together the tiredness is messing with your brain." she scolded herself shaking her head to get away from overthinking lane .

reaching up to the cabin she let out a deep breath and help her hand up to knock on the wooden door . but immediately got interrupted by the familiar voice behind her back .

" oh hi! yahvi thank god i found you here" she turned to look at Yug in surprise his overjoyed voice almost scaring her off .

putting a hand on her chest to calm her over excited heart and possibly a heart attack she turned to give him a defeated look before speaking  "god you scared me."

while yug just shrugged in response chuckling at her bewildered expression opening the door of his cabin " come inside i have to tell you about something important."

Yahvi already being recovered from the possibility of heart attack followed him inside rolling her eyes at his antics before scoffing " what is it why are you acting like an idiot just tell me?"

Yug just smiled in return having known the passion and Love Yahvi had for her work apart from the bunch of paper work she always complained about, she loved her job .

" calm down woman have some patience just sit down" he gave a patient smile to her possibly frustrating her more as she scoffed at that just reluctantly taking a seat not bothering to argue more .

"what is it ? am i going to get more salary now or something?" she asked biting down on her lower lip anxiously making Yug chuckle .

he chose to tell her about it knowing this woman had anger issues and it wasn't a nice idea to deal with an angry Yahvi .

picking up a black file from his table he slid it in her direction with a shit eating grin " possibly yes woman, your hard work is finally paying off I guess but once you get more richer I want a party."

Yahvi knew Yug could never stay serious so she chose to ignore his enthusiastic behaviour and just picked up the file " what's this now ? your wife divorced you ?' she asked with raised eyebrows making his smile disappear.

that made her laugh as she finally opened the pages to read whatever wad written . while yug scoffed finally informing her about the main thing .

"very funny woman, god knows where your brain is . but for your kind information you are assigned to manage the Newzealand team for their campaign."

Yahvi looked at him for a second blankly her heart stopping to beat for a second as she slowly and steadily proccesed yug's words .

" i -i am sorry? i am assigned to do what ?" she breathed again trying to get the words out of her mouth still staring at yug like an alien.

the man just had the audacity to laugh at her shocked expressions while patting her shoulder " take a moment yahvi. yes . you are the official sports manager for the Newzealand team during this worldcup campus "

yug spoke again to make the words register better in her mind much to Yahvi's relief as she let out a shaky breath closing her eyes for a second to take a moment to sink in .

" is this real?" she spoke in a small tone giving him an unsure smile making yug's eye's soften patting her shoulder in a supportive manner "you earned this girl congratulations."

her heart raced with adrenaline as she turned to face Yug . a different shine reflecting in her eyes as she tried to sink in .

Yug got up chuckling at her reaction to give her some private time that she needed with herself. being an introvert it wasn't easy to show her emotions in front of anyone.

" you go girl you will do great i know, i got to go now have to discuss something important with Board members."

yahvi smiled at him in a thankful manner still clutching the file tightly in her hands. " thanks yug you too take care i will talk to you later."

he just nodded giving her a quick smile before leaving and closing the door behind him . leaving her alone with her thoughts.

As soon as she finished reading the file a calm look washed over her . series of thoughts and questions striked up her mind that made her both happy and anxious.

happy because she was being trusted with her ability and capability being young and getting the opportunity to work alongside a well established and extremely good team of kiwis.

but in the small part of the heart feeling a soft spot growing up for her own team .

and anxious because she was going to work on this platform with a complete set of stranger people for the first time ever .

and first experience was always terrifying , with a deep breath she got up from her chair and looked at her phone again .

knowing very well she could do it . she just had to hold her nerves it wasn't something she had never done before.

it was just coming in much more aspects that needed to be constantly checked .

hitting the button of sent.  she let out a relieved sigh running a hand through her hair.

big opportunities demaded big responsibilities too and she was willing to showcase her ability to work without any hesitation.

she knew the players of Newzealand weren't as scary as the intimidating aussie players. they were well behaved and respectful people so the little thought made her much more calmer.

even though there was a little disappointment in her heart thinking about if she got the chance of managing the Indian team it would have been all different .

but it could be ignored to because she valued opportunities and chances the most and now it was time to fully immerse herself in the zone .

it was okay and it was something she was preparing herself for .  taking a sip of her seventh cup of coffee a little smile stretched across her face staring at the screen of her laptop .

" okay Yahvi breathe you got this. you can do this. finally a big opportunity you got to make sure you can do it ."

breathing in and out she spoke in a calmer tone , her heart raced with excitement and nervousness at the thought of this but she could do anything to prove herself.

sitting on her chair again she immediately got on the work sending an email to the Newzealand cricket board about their date of arrival , as her proffesional aura immediately replaced her anxious aura in a second.

biting down her lip she smiled a bit to herself having spend enough time adjusting to the new information as her demeanor shifted to a pure dedicated employee.

"we really cant wait to welcome you in India Blackcaps ." she wrote the last line of email hitting the button of sent and leaning against her chair cracking her knuckles while trying to calm her racing heart beat .

" the team will depart tonight . so we guys can adjust to time zone and jet lag doesn't effect your practice sessions staring from next week ."

the calm calculated voice of Kane Williamson the captain of Newzealand men's team echoed around the meeting room. as he explained and discussed all the plans to his teammates for upcoming worldcup campaign.

The team looked visibly relaxed calm and composed. the atmosphere spoke of a great camaraderie that all the players shared within each other.

with their spirits high and confidence on top they all dreamt of same thing that the remaining 11 teams were thinking of to win that golden trophy for their nation.

" i believe the visit to India this time will definitely call for an adventure." Devon Conway spoke with his calm demeanor and relaxed smile making the other team-mates shake their head in approval.

" we know you just love the food there." Trent boult spoke nudging him with a small Chuckle as both of them got engaged in playful conversation regarding who will do the often cheat day .

Rachin sat there listening to everyone with a small smile at the corner of his lips, their usual practice session just ended. and everyone in the team was just talking about the Odi worldcup campaign.

all the 11 people sitting in the room just had one idea and a silent idea that upcoming two months were going to be once again another opportunity to make their wish come true.

to make their dreams come true.

his arms were comfortably wrapped against his chest as he occasionally joined the funny banter that was taking place between Matt Henry and Mitchell santer.

but his mind drifted back to the worldcup campaign again and again. despite being born in Wellington and raised in Newzealand. he always had a soft spot for India.

ofcourse he always visited his grandparents in Bengaluru there whenever he used to get a chance. with his parents also hailing from there, he was always looking forward to play there.

will O'Rourke his another teammate noticing his silent demeanor nudged him a playful glint dancing in his eyes "you okay dude? seems like you are lost somewhere? ready to rock the worldcup?"

Rachin coming out of his never ending thoughts shook his head with a small smile giving a shrug to his friend "nah i am good just thinking about my family back there in India."

" yeah man you are lucky you can stay with your family there." Mitchell santer joined the conversation noticing both the boys talking among themselves. while Rachin shook his head with a chuckle.

"no not at all i mean ofcourse i would visit them. but the main goal is to focus on the matches" He gave Mitchell a sincere smile, despite being one of the most youngest player in the team. he was always so focused and sincere. and that made him much more better altogether.

" where is your sense of adventure Rach? you know once we reach there.you are going to be our personal tour guide" Will spoke patting his shoulder with a laugh making him roll his eyes.

"shut up you always have to speak nonsense" Mitchell nodded with a chuckle as the three of them quickly started planning whatever they wanted to do in India.

Rachin just listened to two of his friend with occasional laughs. their conversations flowing easily just to get a breather from the previous pressure and tension that worldcup brought.

it was their own way of coping with it and dealing with their mental pressure. they knew no matter what happened they will have each other atleast.

" oh we will see that later but did you heard we all are going to have another manager? for our convenience" will spoke with peak curiosity as Mitchell nodded in agreement "yeah that's very thoughtful of them."

Rachin frowned but shrugged it off not really sure whether if it was a good thing or not.but will being will he didn't left a chance to tease him and annoy him more.

" i hope its someone I can charm and might find a potential girlfriend" He winked at Mitchell Making Rachin snort and slap him at the back of his head. "we are going there for the worldcup not to find a girlfriend for you"

Mitchell shrugged with a smile agreeing with him as will rolled his eyes "no not at all but overall i am excited and if she turned out to be hot i am gonna get a girlfriend."

Rachin being done with his stupidity flicked his forehead "how can you be so certain its going to be female manager? and be a bit respectful Indian girls hit really hard . you might get a red hand print on your cheek as a welcome gift there"

he snorted at will as Mitchell laughed at that "i hate you both" will murmured under his breath. and they all started teasing him together.

Rachin sat back just admiring the camaraderie and bond they all shared knowing really well they were ready to face any kind of obstacles together in future.

with friends like these, a loving family and the passion he acquired as career he was fullfilled and with a challenging task ahead he was willing to witness what life had in store for him.

" alright guys see you all tomorrow morning remember to keep your phones on and dont oversleep. we got a flight to catch on." the responsible and so done kane Williamson really looked so done with his loud teammates.

as they all set ready to go back home from a visibly heavy and overwhelming day both physically and emotionally. the teammates didn't forget to lose the atmosphere around them.

"i cant wait for this worldcup adventure to be honest its all feels so electrifying." Rachin told Mitchell as they walked out of the Team ground. the shine in his eyes matching his excitement of words.

"oh believe me me too i am looking forward to all the challanges we are going to face with a different soil and cricket grounds there." Mitchell added his words carrying a calm plea of just having self belief.

Rachin already good in reading the meaning behind actual words just gave his best friend a comforting smile, a reassurance that they would face it together before looking ahead.

"my parents are so excited to see me play there i just hope i dont let them down." he spoke his words carrying a weight of expectations that he possessed by his family and teammates.

Mitchell gave him a tight lipped in an understanding manner knowing the pressure and expectations were so high in the sport they played . and it could be overwhelming too.

"we got this mate dont worry you are doing great. i am sure they would be so proud of you already" Mitchell spoke a possible effort of comforting his friend as Rachin chuckled nodding sighing softly.

"thanks Mitch" he smiled happy to talk it out with someone knowing this was just a initial phase . there was still alot to come and he was more than ready to face it.

it was still the same carefree, light headed and filled with banters and fun. but when no one listened to their captain and lost in their own world it did got difficult to manage them.

"calm down cap we got this, all we have to do is sleep now and meet tomorrow at airport." Rachin spoke in his usual high spirited tone as Will not far behind added "ofcourse you worry too much captain"

kane visibly done by these over excited youngsters just scratched his beared in defeat arched an eyebrow knowing Rachin and Will were the only two who were always late.

"i am gonna see you both if you showed up late and then made an excuse of watching FIFA highlights all night."

Rachin just rolled his eyes with a small smile knew that this was something exactly going to happen but he tried his best to assure kane. "dont worry cap that won't happen."

Kane just nodded giving him a doubtful smile " we will see that tomorrow" before walking away towards his car. while Rachin took a deep breath making his way towards his own car.

"just a day more and then India here we come." he whispered to himself before smiling softly looking at the setting sun as the yellowish hue spread its magic all around the blue sky.

he thought about taking a picture and posting it on his social media account. snapping a picture of the sky he posted it on his Instagram.

having a little idea about how there would be much more happening in India than just cricket. and he was really looking forward to those happenings.

damn lord! that's too much please i am so sorry i know its a long chapter. but i promise the upcoming chapters would be much more shorter.

this chapter was basically an idea to give introduction of both the characters. the main thing starts from next chapter.
