❝ I forgot you love somebody else and that somebody else—torn between another beating heart who's wanted by somebody else, while mine was broken. Then, I felt a sudden thud in my chest when our eyes locked. A pulse had begun to grow, one I could not stop ❞

"I can't go to prom night. What if I embarrass myself? Did you forget, we're introverts? Are you going with someone, or is it just us three?" Kevin storms downstairs when he hears his dad call out to him, the doorbell ringing, shoulders tense.
Kevin opens the door to a pink-haired boy wearing a winning smile.
Kevin's brown eyes shift right, meeting the raven's beaming ones. He smiles back, dismissing the call, one arm dropping.
"Suprise!" Chanhee and Younghoon say in unison and hug the slightly taller male, which he returns, a little surprised.
A man appears, greeting his friends after washing the forgotten dishes in the sink. Kevin's thankful that his dad helps out with the chores.
He's determined to maintain his academic progress, coming first in class, (even though he's in his last year), despite there being a distraction, only Chanhee, and Younghoon know. However, things have changed since his mom passed away last year.
The notification bell of his phone going off, google reminding him of the weather's forecast for tonight, gives him an idea. He knows it's stupid but he doesn't want to go.
It will work, hopefully.
"Seem like rain is on the way, sorry," the boy gives his best friends an apologetic smile, turning to face his dad who's crossed-arm, staring at him dead in the eyes.
"You're always in your bedroom studying or doing something creative. I'm not always going to let you stay inside, you need the sunlight or moonlight. Go out and have fun tonight, " His dad tells him, not buying his son's cute face. "I'm serious."
"Fine." Kevin finally agrees.
That's exactly where Kevin finds himself.
He's standing with Jacob, thank goodness he found him.
They're surrounded by girls cheering, well most are if it wasn't for the gorgeous small band.
There are two handsome vocalists, a guitarist who can rap, a drummer with a sweet voice, he sometimes sings, then there's the quiet, mysterious, and charming pianist everyone adores who straight-up denies their feelings towards him.
He's just not interested, it's simple as that.
"I'm glad you came, though, " Jacob leans, telling Kevin as audile as possible.
"I wasn't planning on it, but since you're here, it's better now," Kevin responds.
"Didn't you know, Younhoon got nominated, prom king?" Jacob asks, astonishment lacing his honey-like voice.
Kevin averts his gaze somewhere else, feeling his cheeks redden.
So, that's why they were so excited to go.
Great to know.
Kevin is glad Younghoon, his best friend from sophomore to senior year of high school became prom king, though. Hearing it from his friend and crush is another story.
He'll forget about it anyway.
He's just happy he's with Jacob, listening to rhythmic beats of the drum, the sound of piano similar to stars shining, and the angelic voices of the singers flowing in too.
Kevin looks at Jacob, his gaze shifting down to his lips lifting into a smile.
His heart pounds against his chest as he realizes the golden-haired boy clad in a white button-up shirt, singing, oblivious of the lead singer's endearing gaze on him is the reason why a smile caresses Jacob's face too.
Right there and then he figures he should say those words.
"Hey, Jacob. I have to tell you something," he voices. When his best friend turns around, all the young boy can see is yellow.
Sunshine, sunflowers, honey, butter on top of pancakes.
Golden specks glimmering in Jacob's mellow syrup eyes, shifting the moment he hears the voice he loves.
"Jacob, I—I need to tell you something and I'm not going to repeat it!"
"Your feet are happy," he laughs, seeing his best friend smile, "do you want to dance?" Kevin swears his heart might combust and figures he'll tell him later.
Hyunjae walks off the stage stairs and takes Jacob's hands.
And Kevin remembers why he can't tell Jacob I love you.
Jacob is happy with Hyunjae, dancing together under the lights shining on them from above.
What was he expecting? Jacob dancing with him under the moonlight?
Honestly, Kevin would rather choose the Netflix, and Chill option at home.
He's forgotten how to live. He's forgotten how to laugh.
It dawns on him how his love for music makes him understand that the one he loves, feels the same way for somebody else.
If he could tell Jacob those three difficult but beautiful words everything would be better then, with him, just them, together.
He settles on enjoying the music instead, his mocha eyes bounce through the crowd, landing on the pianist. When he turns around, their eyes lock.
And Kevin, the lovesick boy, feels a sudden thud in his chest.
His heartbeat is loud that he can hear it in his ears.
It's those sharp cold cerulean irises staring into his coffee ones dilating.
Hints of sapphire and artic swirl together, complimenting the rose beige skin of his and raven messy hair falling onto his forehead, barely shielding his strikingly similar eyes of Chanhee's due to the sudden presence of rain.
The music fades out.
It's just the both of them staring into each other's eyes until someone bumps into Kevin, offering him a drink, to which he takes it (he just wants to drink in his feelings, instead of eating.)
He takes three drinks, enough to let him bury the words in his chest he's been dying to tell his best friend. He maneuvers his way through the crowd and grabs Jacob's hand, startling him.
"We're going."
"Wait, Kevin. Where?"
"Your home."
. . .
Kevin can't see through the dark, at least that's what his mind is registering. It's all too familiar but new, the light-colored painted walls, the living room, and then they're at the kitchen, the dim lights spilling across the island.
The next thing the brunette knows is his back meeting the wall, the younger trapping him between his arms.
Jacob almost has a heart attack but chooses to ignore it, trying to gauge the expression written on his best friend's flushed face. Kevin's eyes rake up to meet his worried ones.
His gaze softens on him, dropping to his lips for a second before lifting back to his eyes.
He recalls the boy wanting to tell him something.
Mere silence threatens both of them to speak.
But they don't.
Kevin laughs a small laugh.
It's easier than he thought it would be.
Butterflies are swarming in his stomach as a smile blooms on his lips.
He leans in and kisses Jacob.
He knows it's wrong, but it's overtaken from the small but big heart of his. Besides, he's not even that drunk anymore and actions are better than words, anyway.
Jacob's heart stops, eyes wide.
His first impulse is to push away but he doesn't want to hurt Kevin.
Eventually, he gives in, equally pressing back the pressure. Jacob grabs his arms, whirls him around, gently pushes him back against the wall, and kisses him back hungrily.
He pulls away to lift him onto the kitchen island, hands bracing either side of the younger boy.
"I didn't know you wanted this," he leans to whisper in his ear, his voice is warm like always.
There's a hint of tease and curiosity dripping in thee too, and it makes Kevin's face burn.
He's never seen him so confident like this, or maybe it's just because he didn't notice.
"Listen, I didn't mean to—" Kevin's words are cut off by a soft press of lips against his own and he forgets everything, losing himself in the delicate but deep kiss.
He can't believe this is happening, he doesn't want to believe it, but when Jacob begins trailing down open-mouthed at the side of his neck, nipping at the skin there, does he realize it's going too far despite the pleasure blooming through his body.
He needs to say it, no matter what.
Just say it, idiot.
"Jacob, I like you."
Jacob stops, worried brown eyes lifting to look up at him, taken aback.
And then Kevin throws up.

One word, this was hard to write than it looks like. You know when you have it all in your mind and when you get it down on paper, it looks like trash? Yeah, welcome to the struggles of writers
I didn't write down the plan of the beginning of chapter one in my story notes, so it's on me, yes. Second of all, initially, I had planned a different ending. but the chapter was getting long, so there you have it. this girl, my friend who I can always go to for seeking knowledge, and because I see you as my older sister knows the other ending sopemoni
thank you for taking your time out of the day to help me out. another thing, I want to mention is I apologize if the ending sucked. I couldn't figure out how to write that particular scene because it's been so long, other than that, the embarrassing/sad feeling was meant to occur
hopefully, I succeed in portraying each and every emotion through this chapter hehe
I want to give Kevin a hug right now.
LISTEN, PEOPLE, KEVIN DESERVES ALL THE LOVE HE CAN GET
if you aren't, then I'm going to be appearing in your nightmares and so is marksmusee 😊
as always, thank you for reading and your support 💖💖
