Chapter 1: Nowhere to run
No. No.
The door of the lift was sliding close with a packed box of high class business men, my colleagues inside it. Nobody seemed to care, standing there in a robotic way.
"Hold it, please.", I raced towards the lift, my one hand reaching desperately for the door while the other holding my term baby bum.
"Take the next lift, Mia.", Ana shouted from inside.
No. I don't want to take it. The closed room with melancholic memory lane with the lost love.
The lift left me running on the white polished corridor like a duck.
Snap.
The black stiletto broke with a great sound, making me trip off with a two kg sweetheart breathing inside me.
No. My baby.
"You should be more careful. Miss Darrow"
I found myself in the strong arms of the CEO of the Signatora Enterprises.
The melancholic memory lane
"Mr...Mr. Knightley"
He caught me at my waist, carefully embracing my baby. His embrace still remains the same. Soft, yet captivatingly safe.
"I'm so sorry, sir. Next time, I will be more careful"
He doesn't really seem to care. Pain really changes people, doesn't it?
He looked away towards the lift and loosened his satin tie.
More careful not to bump into you.
"No problem, Ms. Darrow", he pressed the VIP lift button several times.
Here he stands, the one who got away. Mr. Noah Knightley.
A eye contact and a skip in heartbeat, that's all it took to fall for him. It was love at first sight.
Benevolent heart, intellectual mind, lavishly rich, ungodly famous and unforgivable hotness.
But everything comes with the price.
His weakness was being obstinate.
To him, once a beast, forever a beast.
"Or should I call you Mrs. Stevens?", He said with a stingy tone.
Ding.
The lift arrived to the destination and he got in into the dim light pouring out on the velvety red wallpaper of the lift, with mirrors.
While I stood with the full term baby and a broken stiletto.
You would never risk going into the awkward silence of the doom room.
But 53th floor, taking stairs is also not a great option.
"Do not tell me that you are going to take the stairs with your bun in the oven?", His eyebrows lifted, hinting on the sarcasm.
"Well."
"Get in", he said in a demanding tone.
Fifteen minutes of super bad silence.
What's the worst that could happen?.
The red arrows showing numbers in the descending order made me more nervous. The fifteen minutes seemed so long.
Mirrors.
His face looked angelic in the amber light. His brown eyes were twinkling with desires and dreams, the vivacity which never dies. Down to his chiselled nose and jaw, his lips broke into a rare smile.
"Well.", the husky deep voice made me jostle with fear.
No, I wasn't stalking you.
"Yes. Mr. Knightley. The stock market remains the same. No change. Our company, sorry. Your company still occupies the throne on."
"One year of avoiding me. That's a great talent you got, Mia!"
For the first time after a long era, his eyes met mine with a intense electric emotions.
Still the butterflies fluttered.
"Mr. Knightley. I.."
"Now you've got nowhere to run"
A loud thud on the metal wire was heard with sparks peering out from either side. The light dimmed out with a burst.
Only darkness enlivens in the room.
And trust me, monsters still lurks the dark.
