It's been forever since Jungkook ran out so we definitely ate without him, but as our calls and texts go unanswered I begin to worry. Haechan smiles softly trying to calm me down.
Haechan: Maybe his phone died and he's stuck in a really bad traffic jam! Or an accident happened and he's blocked off.
Changkyun nods.
Changkyun: Do you want some tea?
Me: No thank you.
Haechan attempts to whisper.
Haechan: Ah man she really is worried she never turns down food or drinks.
Changkyun elbows the younger boy and I groan checking my phone again. Someone knocks at the door roughly and I rush over thinking it's Jungkook.
Close though!
Mrs.Jeon: Sorry to bother you but is Jungkook here?
Me: He was but he ran out to grab juice a hour and a half ago. Now he's not answering our calls or texts!
Oh God, is this the equivalent of the dad telling the kid he's going to "get milk" but never returns? My eyes widen.
Me: Oh lord he's abandoning us!
The boy's eyes widen as they grab me guiding me to the couch.
Mrs.Jeon; It's not that. My dumb husband has been following him lately in a last ditch effort to talk to him. I'm sorry Jas. He probably stopped him at the store.
Me: That makes me feel a little better actually. Now we know he isn't in harms way.
Then I think again...
Me: He's going to kill him isn't he?
She shakes her head frantically.
Mrs.Jeon: No! Although I can't promise there won't be an argument. Jungkook and Jin have been sticking their grounds when it comes to him. I'm proud.
Me: Do you want something to drink while we wait?
Mrs.Jeon: Tea please.
Haechan nods going to the kitchen.
Haechan: Uh just to let you know Mrs.J this isn't that fancy stuff the politicians drink.
Me: Shut up!
She laughs.
Mrs.Jeon: I'm sure it's just as good. How have you been feeling?
Me: I'm okay, sometimes it moves.
Mrs.Jeon: When it's time for you want to know the gender?
I've never thought about it.
Me: It will make it easier to buy things and get it out the way.
Mrs.Jeon: Some times. Jungkook had a pink nursery for a month because the doctor assured me I was having a girl, nope.
I laugh.
Mrs.Jeon: Have you talked to your dad?
Me: Here and there. He wants to meet up again to hash it all out.
It's so annoying, and I barely have the mental energy to do that. Mrs.Jeon grabs my hand softly giving a slight squeeze.
Mrs.Jeon: Us parents aren't perfect, but some of us do our best. Your father owes you a huge apology but after that's done I hope you can move forward with him.
Me too.
Me: What about Jungkook? How will that go? I've heard that his father didn't necessarily want kids.
Mrs.Jeon: Yeah, not something I'm proud of admitting. He wanted a family but not that soon was his reasoning. We worked a lot and often left the boys with a nanny.
Her eyes water.
Mrs.Jeon: If I could turn back time, you kids just remember nothing is more important than family!

JUNGKOOK'S POINT OF VIEW
A pain in the ass I swear.
Dad: What if the child isn't yours? Then you've wasted nine months with this girl.
Me: Not a waste, she's my friend. So is Changkyun and Haechan.
He takes a puff of his cigar.
Dad: Son you do realize you're only hurting yourself by getting attached? Once the babyfather is announced he, the child and the girl become a family. The leftovers will not.
I can't expect much from him.
He wasn't there when all three of us rushed to her house at two in the morning because of her acid reflux.
He wasn't there when we all spend the night in her room because she lost sight of a spider.
He wasn't there when my lap became her pillow on the school bench.
He's not there when she tells us how thankful she is for us.
Me: I love Jasmine. Not in a I want to be with her way but in a I'm happy she's the mother of my child, and if she isn't I'll still love her in a best-friend way. You always said to live life with no regrets and I don't regret this.
At all.
Me: I don't care about the politics or what people are going to say. We're still graduating college and moving forward so why does it matter?
He sighs, putting out his cigar.
Dad: It's annoying but I raised much better men than me. You're mom has yelled at me everyday since you boys left. She's loud ya' know?
Me: When she's mad? Very.
I don't hate my dad, I just hate how he handles things. He has a strict one tracked mine that challenges my beliefs so we clash a lot. I don't hate him, I just don't like him.
Dad: I still can't say I approve, but I do want to meet this girl.
I groan, of course he does.
