I cannot believe I'm at the Jeon's mansion.
I've been standing here for fifteen minutes and haven't rung the bell yet. It was like a five mile walk from the driveway to the damn house.
Okay, you got this Jas! I reach to press the doorbell but immediately begin to pace, it feels like I'm going to throw up. I've never been this nervous in my life.
"Little girl, are you going to ring the doorbell or just keep standing out there?"
I scream.
Me: Who said that?
"Eren Jaeger."
How I didn't notice the speaker and mini camera on the house I'll never know. The giant mahogany door opens and I'm met with the face of a model.
Seokjin or Jin for short, Jungkook's older brother.
Jin: Come in.
I now politely before walking in. Holy shit they're loaded, I can't even begin to describe this house other than ridiculous. The chandelier looks like it costs more than my whole life.
The spiral staircase with marble steps?
Oh I feel like an influencer.
Jin: How are you?
Me: I'm good, how are you?
Jin: Good. You don't have to be so tight I'm not here to judge you. Follow me, Jk is in the kitchen.
We walk past the living-room and inside is a giant fish tank full of beautiful fishes and colors. The TV mounted on the wall almost looks like a damn movie theatre screen.
Once we get to the kitchen the smell of food attacks me. I love it! Jungkook stands at the stove stirring and smiles as he looks at us.
Jin: The guest of honor is here
Jungkook: Don't say that, she'll get nervous and faint.
Jin: You're right. Feel free to have a seat.
Every move I make I can't help but feel so damn awkward.
Jungkook: Dinner is almost ready.
Jin: How do you feel about veil with paccheri al forno?
I open my mouth then close it, the what? Jin sees my face and begins to laugh. His laugh is so contagious and the fact he claps with it reminds me of Jungkook's habit too.
Jin: I'm fucking with you, spaghetti and garlic bread is what's on the menu.
Me: I love spaghetti!
Jin: Me too. Jungkook I like her already.
He ignores his older brother, Jin gets up to start setting the table and I sit there twiddling my thumbs. He sits out a picture of lemon water and a plate full of garlic bread fresh out the oven.
Jungkook serves everyone their food and we give thanks before eating.
Jin: You go to the same college as him right?
Me: Yes, I'm getting my degree in social work.
Jin: That's great. How many siblings do you have?
Me: One older sister.
He nods.
Jin: My apologizes for the abrupt invitation but when he told me I needed to meet you. Not because I'm analyzing you but because I need to know what's going on exactly.
His smile seems genuine.
Jin: Once the baby is born are you planning on raising it with whoever the dad is?
Me: Yes. we all came to a decision to keep it.
Jin: You do know there would have been no judgement from me if you didn't want to keep it right? You're the one who's about to go through hell for the next eight months. Don't let none of those boys tell you how to feel, Jungkook included.
He said his brother was nothing to fear but I didn't imagine him to be this nice.
Jin: Growing up our parents were always working, forever busy so you could say I spent most days raising Jungkook. I believe raising a child is much more than throwing money and buying things. Quality time and bonding is a big part of their life they can't get back.
Jungkook nods agreeing with his brother.
Jin: This won't be a picnic but I won't you both to know I'm here for you and when that time comes Uncle Jin will be the coolest uncle ever!
I giggle.
Jin: There's a chance our parents will absolutely hate this. That's why I'm telling you, I'm here. Forget what they might say or how they might act because you two have me, I have your backs.
After dinner I can see why Jungkook adores his brother. Jin is a kind person who wants nothing but the best for him. He's also funny as hell watching a grown man quote and sing pitch perfect word for word is very entertaining.
Three movies later it begins to get late.
Me: Are your parents coming home soon?
Jin: Huh? Oh, this is my house.
One this is not a damn house, it's a mansion.
And two....
Me: Yours? I thought this was the family mansion?
He shakes his head.
Jin: Mom and dad live on the other side while Jungkook and I live on this side.
Wow, it's fair to say I've never been in this neighborhood a day in my life anyways. It's sorta like the Beverly Hills of our town, the Bel-air if you will.
Which means..
Me: Does Changkyun live over here?
Jin: Im Changkyun? Yeah he and the mayor live a few doors down. You didn't tell her that Jk?
Jungkook: I don't pay attention to that dude.
Jin: Well you better start. You guys are a team until the baby is born.
Jungkook groans but doesn't say anything.
Jin: It's late, why don't you spend the night here?
Me: Here? It's okay, I can manage.
Jin: My spirit won't let me accept a pregnant girl driving home at ten o'clock at night. It's more than enough rooms.
I go to say something and he stops me.
Jin: Believe me, you and Jungkook are not strangers no need to be shy now.
Jungkook: Hyung!
So here I am in one of the guests bedrooms and honestly a room like this would make me not want to leave ever. It has its own master bathroom!
Jungkook walks into the room and hands me some towels, a shirt and a pair of basketball shorts.
Jungkook: You can sleep in these.
Me: Thank you, and thanks for dinner.
Jungkook: Of course.
I don't know what it is about this shower but it's caressing every aching bone in my body right now. After I was done I dried off and threw on the clothes Jungkook gave me.
The bed feels like a giant marshmallow, I love it!
I end up falling asleep quicker than I thought but somewhere in the middle of the night I woke up with the driest throat.
Maneuvering my way around in the dark without tripping in the hallway should earn me a medal. The kitchen light downstairs is already on making my journey easier.
Jungkook is sitting at the table eating a toaster strudel and scrolling on his phone.
Me: Uh I came for water.
Jungkook: Bottles are in the fridge.
I grab one and down it within' two seconds.
Me: Are you okay?
Jungkook: Yeah just thinking about what my parents are going to do when I tell them.
Me: Me and you both. What if they pay people to kidnap me and drop me off in timbucktwo?
He chuckles.
Jungkook: Trust me they're not going to bother you. I won't let it happen.
Me: But you're not in this alone, it's a we thing.
Jungkook: We thing?
Me: Baby mother baby father thing.
He gestures towards a toaster strudel and of course I can't deny a good pastry.
Jungkook: Do you want a daughter or son?
Me: According to my mother when I was younger I always gushed over having a daughter. Now that the day has came I don't care as long as they're healthy. You?
He glances at my stomach.
Jungkook: I want a son, but either or is fine. Like you said as long as they're healthy and happy.
We smile.
