27. he gulped
With Sykkuno's comforting arms around her, Corpse's chin on her head, and his hands wrapped around her shoulders, and Toast's hand on her hair, ruffling it and keeping her closer to the hug, Rae felt both, protected and exposed.
Yet, the three boys were doing their best to keep their girl comforted. Where Sykkuno let go of his discomfort and hugged Rae, feeling extremely terrible to see his infernal, chaotic twin all miserable and he shut his eyes, feeling her pain, there Corpse saddened as he held Rae tightly, hoping she'd be better soon. And Toast?
He just wanted to beat the shit out of that person who caused this.
Rae held them all, her heart lighter and sobs slowing down. She wiped her tears when they broke the hug, slowly, Sykkuno sitting next to Rae, Corpse's hand on Rae's shoulder as they looked at her, waiting for her to take her time.
Toast was coldly looking at her, and Rae wiped her tears again, 'Toast?' She warned, her voice still choking.
'Who?' Toast asked, ready to attack. 'Who, Rae?'
Rae chuckled, holding Toast's hand, thankful for all of them. 'It doesn't matter.' She sniffed, smiling back again, 'Not anymore.' She kept her head on Sykkuno's shoulder, Corpse's hand firm on her shoulder and Toast sighed, nodding as he touched her chin.
'You guys are such girls sometimes. I swear.' Rae said, trying to lighten the mood.
'Did we do good?' Sykkuno asked, his soft voice calming Rae's anxieties. 'I think we did good.'
'Fuck. We did amazing.' Corpse said, smiling and Rae chuckled.
'Fuck yea.' She replied, she wiped her face with her long sleeve, 'Just one a little too moody eh?'
They looked at Toast, and he chuckled, giving Rae another hug. Corpse jumped in on the hug again and Sykkuno was pulled in by Rae, and she smiled.
What did she do to deserve them? She'd never know.

That night was slow, with the boys cheering Rae and helping her ease in even though they didn't know why she was crying or who hurt her. They never even asked her, giving her all the time and privacy she needed and Rae couldn't be happier.
These three were a blessing in disguise.
James, however was evidently too preoccupied by Rae's mourning mood to be busied in his laptop. He looked at her, wanting to ask her what was wrong and whether she was okay, but he couldn't get himself to ask her. And Rae could notice him constantly on the edge of his seat, but she didn't really wanted to talk to him.
It was almost midnight, and they all had to leave early for the next day trip but Rae didn't wanna sleep that soon. She knew she'd be awake overthinking and being stupid all the more and sensing her discomfort, the boys waited for her.
A little sleep over her was practically nothing.
Sykkuno took his guitar out and strummed few songs, Corpse played the drums on his mobile app and Toast tried singing, cheering Rae who only laughed at the high pitched, off tune songs, with Corpse's wrong beats.
It was a messy band, but she loved it.
'Wow!' Rae clapped, mocking them. 'My ears are bleeding.'
Corpse chuckled, and Sykkuno smiled, still strumming softly. Toast took offence and folded his arms, 'Really Rae? You're mocking Disguised Toast's voice? There are people who'd kill to listen to this band, okay.'
To that Rae rolled her eyes, smiling, 'You mean kill themselves?'
Toast gasped, Sykkuno covered his mouth, laughing. 'Get her, Toast.' He said, chuckling while Corpse played some beats.
James was the only one still in one corner, watching them all, understanding and trying to know how these four misfits come together and still fit.
'I am getting some wine.' Rae said, getting up from the sofa when Toast readied to sing another song. 'Cause if there's another performance, I'd need this to survive!'
Toast gave her the finger and continued singing while she laughed, moving in the kitchen. She scanned the cute setup, trying to locate the wine Sykkuno had kept but couldn't find it.
'The bottom drawer.' James's voice was heard from behind her, which she still wasn't used to. Rae nodded and took hold of the wine, pouring it into four glasses. James walked towards her, his hands folded across his chest, his back resting on the marble counter, besides Rae.
'Sorry, I'm not pouring for you, because you don't drink. I suppose you'll have work calls tomorrow too, right?' Rae said, with a small chuckle, covering her teary face from James.
'Yea.' James said, eyeing her. 'You okay?' He asked, straight to the point.
Rae nodded, looking at him. 'Yes. Thank you.'
He nodded back, his hand now slowly falling to either side. 'You could've called me to pick up. I was just nearby.'
To that Rae nodded, 'I know. I took a cab home because I didn't wanna cause any trouble.' She said, not meeting his eyes but with a small smile.
James gulped, his hand now rubbing the back of his neck. 'You're, you're not trouble.' He said, while Rae met his eyes, his black midnight eyes. 'Not to me, atleast.'
While Rae looked up, to meet his deep eyes, he looked down, trying his best to not overstep. There was something there, something she couldn't quite get a hold on, but James's gaze on her wasn't the same like it was before. They weren't glaring at her, or annoyed at her.
Instead it was a soft gaze, a captivating soft gaze by which he was holding her. And she couldn't get a hold of herself other than hold his gaze.
James gulped nervously, as he met her soft teary eyes, and her long hair tied messily brought her hair strands all over her face. While Rae froze, not understanding what was happening, James took a tiny step closer.
'Rae? Have you gone to the wine cellar to get us wine?' Toast's loud voice was heard. 'Come out you baguette eating hag!'
Their moment was interrupted and James gulped, taking a step back and Rae replied with a 'Fuck off, Toast.'
'Feel better.' James said, stepping back and she nodded.
With that and a small smile, James left and all Rae did was wonder what he meant. Either James was acting all different, or she was drunk without actually drinking, again.
Or her mind is all worked up and she doesn't know shit.
Rae sighed, shaking her head because she could never ever interpret what that six foot guy would say. He was just too beyond her to read and understand.
With a shrug, Rae brought the glasses to her boys and where Sykkuno debated whether or not he wanted to drink, Corpse quickly gulped down. 'I cannot withstand Toast's singing without this. Thank you.'
'That's two, Toast.' Rae raised her brow, and Toast narrowed his gaze at Sykkuno who was nervously sipping the wine.
'Sykkuno is with me, right?' Toast glared at Sykkuno. 'Right?'
Corpse chuckled and Rae pouted. 'Stop pressurizing him, Toast.' She said, sitting on the sofa next to Sykkuno. 'He is definitely with us, right?' She imitated Toast, 'Right?'
'Um...' Sykkuno hesitated but he took another sip of the wine, nervously looking at Corpse. 'Let's, let's... um...' He chuckled nervously, 'Do I have... have to answer... right... right away?'
Toast, Rae and Corpse looked at each other and then at themselves and they laughed.
Especially Rae, feeling much better, unknown to what was coming.
