Letter To My Ex

Letter To My Ex by Qwiin_tee

Congratulations to Qwiin_tee for wining the Grinding Ground Writing Contest.

SYNOPSIS

There were a lot of things I wanted to say to him before we ended things. I didn't get to say them and now I wish I did.

Now that we have ended things there are a lot more things I want to say. I still don't have the courage to do so. So here I am, pen in hand and a whole lot to write.

Wednesday 15th July 2020,

Dear Liam,

A lot has changed since we last saw each other. The way I say it now makes it seem like we ended on good terms, but it's quite the opposite.

As you always like to say, the past is the past. After you left me crying like a leaking tap, it took me days before I got my ass out of bed and decided that I was more than that.

I always remembered how we would always argue about my dressing, so the first thing I did was to burn all my clothes and go shopping for new ones. In case you don't remember, I used to be the conservative type, the big shirts and jeans type. Now I'm the maxi mini skirts with a hooded crop top and heels.

I did a real 180. I guess you could say the heartbreak changed me. To be honest, it did not only change my dressing style but also my career. After shopping, I decided to post pictures of myself in the clothes I bought on Instagram and within two weeks I was gaining lots of followers.

This led to me getting lots of sponsorship, and because I was making so much money from it, I decided to quit my crappy job at the tech firm and lead the glamorous life of a Social media influencer.

I thought to myself, 'why stop the changes there, when you can even go bigger?' So I decided to go bigger, and we all know that bigger is better.

Heavens I just read that out loud to myself and it sounded like I wanted to get a boob job. Though I did consider it, I still didn't do it. Instead, I changed my hair from blonde curls to a straight platinum blonde shoulder-length.

According to a lot of my fans, it did wonders to my brown eyes.

I moved out of the apartment we rented together, but I bet you already know that since you would have received the mail informing you of the termination of contract. I bought a duplex and got a cat and a dog.

I also decided to start wearing makeup and not the lipstick and eyeliner that I used to claim was makeup. I wear the real deal now, though my first few attempts ended quite terribly, but now I can proudly say that I am a professional makeup applier, if there's a word like that.

I decided to drop my cute glasses that you got me for our four years anniversary and opted for contacts. I also decided to buy lenses in different colours so that I look different every once in a while.

To sum it all up, I guess you could say that I'm not where you left me at all.

Yours Sincerely,

Devinne

Saturday 18th July 2020,

Dear Liam,

I heard from a couple of friends of yours that you're planning on coming to one of the influencer parties I am planning on throwing just to check out how far I've gone.

I won't blame you though, you were never one to believe anything without evidence and I guess my letter to you didn't convince you of how well I'm doing.

If you don't want to be hurt by seeing me dancing with someone else who isn't you don't show up for any of the parties, I honestly don't want to stress myself with you anymore, so I'm only going to say it once and I hope you believe and understand me.

Don't start caring about how I am now, simply walk away, which is the only thing you know how to do. Let's not have any more connections.

Yours Sincerely,
Devinne

Dear Liam,
It's so funny, how you always felt entitled to everything. You even felt back then that you were the one entitled to the right to end our relationship.

You didn't even end it in an easy manner. I still remember that day like it was just seconds ago. You walked into our room after your usual morning workout and headed straight to your side of the wardrobe and began pulling out all your clothes and stuffing them in your suitcase.

I still remember how I begged you, I even went on my knees and you didn't even bat an eyelash. The only time you acknowledged me was when you reached the door and tossed over your shoulder the word "goodbye".

Those actions you took really scared me a lot and being the emotional person I am, it took me a long time to get over the fact that you didn't need me anymore, and that I needed to begin living for myself and no one else, since it was quite obvious that I was living for you.

I was told that one of the new characters I picked up was rubbing things in peoples faces, it's probably one of the many reasons why I have been writing to you. I guess it just gives me a sense of accomplishment to know that you're reading this and realizing that you messed up big time.

Yours Sincerely,
Devinne.

Tuesday 20th, July 2020,
Dear Liam,
This is the last letter I am going to write to you. It's really short so you can rest assured that my gloating is minimal.

I guess when I think about it, I can't thank you enough for leaving me. Make no mistake, my blood boils when I think of the way you dumped me, but the aftermath of you leaving me is what I am thankful for.

If you had not decided to give in to your bipolar disorder and come to the conclusion that you didn't need me again then I guess I would still be the same shy girl whose world revolved around you and for that I am honestly grateful.

As I said earlier, this letter is going to be short so this is where I end it all. It was fun in a way writing to you and letting you know what's been going on with me.

I guess I should have done this earlier, maybe then, you would have read it before you took your own life and I wouldn't have been feeling as miserable as I am right now.

I hope wherever you are, that you are doing better than when you were alive, and I hope that you now smile more. Though it doesn't matter, I still attached a picture of when we first met.

This is our final goodbye Liam Reeve, and I guess I should feel entitled because I, Devinne Williams was the last woman in your heart.

Yours Sincerely,
Devinne.
