". . . I just kissed your lips!"
I froze in my tracks upon hearing the words that slipped out of Mammon's, proudly, smirking lips. What sick joke was this demon playing? The tips of my fingers found themselves tracing the edges of my lips, at the thought of them getting tainted by a demon. "Bloody hell," I found myself mumbling, as I aggressively pulled my hand out of the demon's grip.
Mammon covered his mouth, after taking notice of what he had subconsciously said," Uh look, t-that's n-ot what I meant!"
"Stay away from me!" I yelled, clearly furious, and not accepting what he had just said; while taking a few steps to the left to keep a good distance between us." I knew it ! I freaking knew coming here is no good! Aw, forgive me god."
I burried my face in my hands feeling disgraced. Just stop this . . . Someone stop this. My head was starting to ache, and I could feel a strange tingling feeling climbing the back of my neck, before it slightly began to burn. "Bloody hell," I growled again.
Most would think I was embarrassed, but no . . . I hated it. Just thinking of the moment of the foreign magic that kept me from getting devoured by the shadow souls. From what I knew from living in the Celestial Realm, was that a 'kiss' was humans' ways of showing affection. I shuddered at the memory. " Yuna," I slapped Mammon's hand away, and stumbled backwards, before falling to my knees.
"Just . . . Stay there," the warning-words seemed to sink under the demon's skin, because he seemed to flinch at the hoarse tone dripping like venom from my voice. "Tell Luke . . . I will be . . . Gone for a while."
"Wait . . . What?" He cluelessly replied, but I was not in my right mind to think of a proper reply and found myself hurriedly walking away from the demon.
Standing in this hell pit was going to drive me mad, before I could even reach the middle of the year. I pulled out a small teleportation stone, from my pocket, and felt hesitation overcome me. There were only five stones I had bought with me from the Celestial Realm, that were stuffed in the pockets of my shorts just in case of an 'ever to happen emergency.'
They were tiny-sphere-stones of shades varying from green, blue, red, white, and yellow. I was never told where they come from, but they were my only travel method to the Human Realm. All it takes is for me to think of a place I want to be at, and just like that, it was off to my destination. It could even be somewhere is Devildom, does not matter." Wait! Yuna! . . ." I ignored Mammon's calling and plopped a single, red stone into my mouth. "Yuna! Yuna!!"
I glanced at my hand and took notice of it slowly fading into thin air, before turning to Mammon, who was still troubled, and slightly blushing," I have to go. Don't know when I will be back . . . But you should at least think about what you just said and did."
I could not bring myself to say anymore, and before I knew it I had completely vanished; now standing face to face to a familiar woman dressed in a pitch-black-cloak; leaning against a dead tree while sharpening a scythe in her extremely, pale hands. " Didn't expect you to be back here so early," Maria, a reaper, whom I have met since day one of teleportation spoke. "Ow yeah, there is an exchange program for familiars now, right?"
" Don't remind me, the fact that I just got harassed without knowing . . . " I spoke, before adding," . . . Until now."
"Harasssed?" Maria repeated, raising a single eyebrow at me questionably."Trouble overnight?"
"Wait it's morning already?" I asked her, while taking a seat next to her on the mossy, grey, wet grass with my legs crossed. "Ugh anyway . . . I think I really might just kill one of the students there."
Maria giggled at my words, laying her scythe and sharpening stone aside, before resting her cheek on her hand. She is what most people would call a 'goth,' but that did not surprise me much, since she was a grim reaper, and wore nearly everything from black clothes to black makeup. There was certainly an slight odd side to her personality, but I did not mind it much. "Actually, tonight I was attacked by a swarm of shadow souls, while at The Fall," I started, wiping my lips.
" Why in your right mind would you go there? The last time I visited it was pretty chaotic," she replied, licking her lower-black tainted-lips."Did you go alone?"
"Ugh no . . . " I sighed, scratching the back of my neck due to it still burning my skin. "They separated me from Luke, and this stupid demon started begging me to go with him, because his sense of handling burdensome women is bad . . . But my magic energy . . . Became . . . Limited."
The last word triggered Maria's attention, and took off her shady, black hood to take a good look at my face, with a doubtful expression,"Tell me exactly why the heck would get them to do this?"
I gave her a quick summary of what happen to me on my first day, and of course, about the Lunalight warriors. She surprisingly managed to keep a straight face, before standing up and picking up her iron scythe in hand, before saying, "I have something that might help in emergencey's, but we should really do something about these demons and their suspicions."
Shaded her dim, hazel eyes; lifted her scythe, and brought it down in a heavy blow; forming a large, black hole in the misty air. "Reperotrates potion will be able to unleash a large amount of magic energy, but they are hard to find, and I only have two small flasks; so be careful when using them," she said, plunging her hand into the black abyss, only to pull out two, round flasks filled to the brim, with a teal liquid with strange black shadows swimming inside it. "usually they are dangerous to use, because most lose control of the magic energy, but in your case you might really need this."
"Holy Grail, where do you even find these stuff?!" I astonishingly-asked, slowly taking the two bottles handed out to me from her cold hands.
"Well, trips to Hogwarts in England can be very helpful at times. Now that I mentioned it, that place really has changed a lot since 1998," Maria stated a small chuckle escaping her lips, as if remembering her old visits. "Anyway, just keep an eye on Lucifer and that demon sibling of his, Satan. . . And that troublesome Avatar of Greed."
I gave her a nod and scratched the nap of my neck again, "I will keep an eye out, this potion better work."
For a second the reaper seemed to eye me worriedly, before smiling weakly at me, and pulling me into a tender hug. I could sense her still smiling pitifully, though it made me feel a little guilty for making her worry. "Thank you, Maria," I whispered, taking a deep breath to keep her scent of death locked in my memories.
"Alright alright, my guess is your here to check on Minho," she chuckled away her sadness, breaking the hug, and clicking her fingers to open an old, white, mystical, teleportation portal. "You know . . . You amuse me a lot for a cat . . . Facing death herself, and even staying sane. . . If only humans could be like you. . . "
I smiled cheaply at her words, while lightly smacking her cheeks," You know that's not true, I learned from them a lot of things. . . We all living creatures of the Human Realm have our dark side, and I am confident you know that the most Maria Death."
The reaper rolled her eyes at me, and chuckled,"Can't accept a compliment I see. I might not know anything about familiars, but I hope you find answers, dear Yuna."
Before I knew it, I was already walking backwards into the portal with the two spheres of Reperotrates potions in my hand.
The crossing between life and death.
