Chapter Thirty-Six

Two Years Later.

Azaan's Pov.

I am thankful every day to have my family in my life. It has been two years ever since everything happened.

Our daughter is two years old today along with Iman's son. Just as our parents predicted that they will become best friends and now they are.

Their birthdays are always celebrated together. I looked over to see my wife trying to get our princess dressed for her party but Zainab wasn't having it.

"Zainab, it's time to get dressed because everyone will be here in a few minutes," Saira tells her while Zainab was running and giggling.

I scoped her into my arms and then take her to Saira who just shook her head.

"Thank you", she mouthed as Zainab finally agreed to get dressed by her mother.

I smiled at her to ease her mind. "You are welcome, love", I mouthed back at her.

I could see her being shy, after all these years I could still make her blush.

We were interrupted by the doorbell ringing, indicating that the others have arrived to celebrate Zainab and Zayd's birthday.

Alhamdullilah, everything is already planned and prepared thanks to their grandparents, uncles, and aunts.

These two kids are going to be spoiled by everyone around them, especially their grandparents.

Saira walked toward the door holding Zainab's hand so that she can open the door letting everyone inside.

"Asalam Aleikum everyone. Please come inside", Saira greets our family letting them inside the house.

When Zainab saw Zayd, she quickly ran to him and dragged him to the backyard where their birthday set-up was.

They were joined by Armaan who is my niece, my cousin Hanan's daughter. Not every marriage has a happy ending but I am glad that my cousin has us to be there for her.

Her family and her friends.

I can't believe that he would do this to her and their daughter. But not everyone is born to be a father.

A father is someone who will take care of you. They don't have to be blood-related for him to be a father.

Blood doesn't make family, bonds do.

But what I didn't expect was for Hanan to come with him to the birthday party.

Fahd.

They are currently working together because my cousin needed a job to provide for her daughter who is her entire world.

"Azaan, no. Stop. This is for Zainab and Zayd and not for us, remember that", my wife Saira tells me when she saw how I was looking at him.

"I know but..."

"No buts. Let the past go and let us be happy. He is and will always be a part of our family. And don't forget that he wasn't at fault for what happened to you. He was also played by her. He explained it to me when I last saw him, "she explains to me. "Anger isn't good, Azaan. Always remember that", she added leaving to join the others who are sitting and looking at the kids playing.

I know that she is right but I will always be cautious around him especially when he is near my cousin and her daughter.

Saira's Pov.

I can't believe that Azaan wanted to throw out Fahd just because he is here with Hanan and her daughter Armaan.

I am glad that she has found happiness at last after a long time of being sad and betrayed by the one person she thought wouldn't hurt her.

Her ex-husband hurt her by abandoning her while she was pregnant with Armaan.

Why?

Because he wasn't ready to be a father and now Fahd is trying to be that while Azaan only thinks of the past. The past that should've been forgotten.

I just hope and pray that Armaan and Hanan would bring those two back together.

As brothers and as best friends.

"Saira, are you alright?", Iman asks me when she saw me staring at Azaan who standing near Fahd while glaring at him.

"Yeah, its just your brother is acting like an idiot because Hanan brought Fahd here. I don't get it, why can't he let go and try to move on?", I tell her.

"My brother is stubborn and doesn't want to let go of the past. But I think some day they will get past whatever happened between them", she tells me. "In shaa Allah, trust in that", she added hugging me.

I thanked her and walked to where our parents were. I needed their advice on what has been happening. Because right now, Azaan is acting like a kid to Fahd trying to be competitive in the games they are participating in with the kids.

"Mamma could you please talk to Azaan? He is acting like a toddler especially when it comes to playing. Instead of letting the kids have fun", I explained to both of them.

They both turned to look at Azaan who was tackling Fahd and trying to take the ball from him.

They both started laughing at how childish their son is acting. Instead of having a daughter, I now have a son.

My husband is acting like a child for no reason at all.

I join them in laughing at him while watching the two men wrestling on the ground.

Armaan walked over and grabbed them by their ears and started pulling them.

This made them stop and started pouting while holding their ears.

"Sometimes you need a child to get the two big children to act normal. And Armaan is the one who would do that", her mother says while looking at her daughter who was scolding the two men.

The two men are pouting and holding their ears.

"Armaan is the oldest so she knows what is needed to be done, and she does it", Hanan says. " That's what I am thankful for her. I am thankful that I have her in my life. As she is my life", she added smiling.

"I should thank her and but her whatever she wants because she made those grown men shake hands and call a truce", I tell her pointing at them.

After that, the birthday party when on without a hitch from them. Thanks to Armaan.

I don't know how a 5-year-old girl managed to get them to get along with each other.

I want to know more but for now, it's time for the birthday kids to cut their cake.

Zayd wanted a thor cake while Zainab wanted a princess cake.

After cutting the cake and distributing it, I couldn't help but notice how Shyra was with Sameer.

I wondered if she told him why she left and if she did I hope and pray that he will help her.

He loves her ever since we were kids but due to unwanted circumstances she had to disappear but now she is back.

This is a start of a fresh year for us. Every day I pray to Allah to make my family happy without any problems but they still appear.

"Saira, come on", Iman dragged me to where Azaan was sitting.

It was time to give him a surprise that I have been waiting to tell him about it but couldn't get the chance as he has been busy working.

"Iman..."

She just glared at me.

I nodded and took a seat near Azaan.

"I..."

"Just tell him already", Iman, Hannan, and Hannah all yelled at me.

"What is wrong, habibty?", Azaan asks me.

I could see it in his eyes he looked worried. I smiled and took a deep breath.

"We are going to have another baby, in shaa Allah", I tell him.

He immediately pulled me into his arms making everyone there laugh.

"Thank you, my love", he murmured to me.

Family is love and love is family. The love of a family can beat any type of love that there is. The bond that a family has is something that is unbreakable and can never be replaced by anyone. And that's true love.
